Stay away! Purchase engine directly from summit. Had the engine professionally installed and less than 200 miles the truck developed a misfire. Towed the truck to a reputable Performace shop they take a look and ends up being a bent rod and bent valves. I have been dealing with Erick the person in charge of the warranty claims and said he s it as far as no one else Is higher up than him and he has no clue what is being done at the location since he works from home but I called the other day and a customer rep said he s somewhere in the warehouse and he said he hasn t been in the office since November. It s been 14 days since I started the claim and he said I m not being patient.

Horrible motors. Bought a 450HP 5.3 from summit put 200 miles rod broke. Called had another motor delivered after 7 days and had loose parts all over the second motor they sent me. QC is trash on these motors regret ever buying one. If I could give them a half star i most definitely would. Didn t even offer to cover a portion of labor so I had to come out of pocket to reinstall another motor when it wasn t even my fault a rod snapped. If this motor blows I ll be buying a junk yard motor to build and save myself the hassle

Update - April 2024: still no issues whatsoever with the short block. It's still doing SBC stuff reliably with many miles, road trips and hauling trailer loads of furniture on NC and VA highways.Bought their SP04 short block in April 2018. Machining was well done, measured everything before proceeding with building it up. The decks were cleaned and squared and all pistons were consistent to within .002" of each other (.014" - .016"). Chose a .026" gasket for a good quench of .041". There was one guy who reviewed after he put together a 6.0l and bolted on his heads without checking PTV clearance or deck height. Bent valves and scarred pistons isn't ATK's fault. And the guy who chewed up 3 distributors in a Mopar engine- sounds like incompatible materials between cam gear and distributor gear. Keep feeding your mains metal chunks of your distributors and guess what'll happen? Right.Folks, building engines from a short block or doing proper prep work before you install a long block and romp on the happy pedal requires more than tools and the willingness to take on the work yourself. Same goes for any shop doing it on behalf of a customer. Any shop that doesn't take the time to measure, record and proceed properly with a build or install is no more than a parts changer. The world has enough of those. With the volume that any company like ATK or BluePrint does, there will be a small percentage of products that get missed or done with some margin of error. You do your job properly before you rush through to get it on the road or out the door and you'll usually catch these issues. Then you can deal with the company about an unused, undamaged product and your position is stronger. Then they have the opportunity to 1) apologize, 2) pay the freight to send back the problem item, 3) expedite shipping of a replacement, 4) run the problem product back through processing and QA and return to stock if possible.I built my SP04 SBC short block with another company's budget 185cc aluminum heads (you have to go through those, too), GM roller lifters, Comp roller cam, Scorpion rockers, ARP fasteners everywhere, Holley intake, bored and machined TBI unit, 80# injectors and a modified ECM to tune it (myself). Distributor is same that GM uses on their RamJet engines, dist. gears are compatible, chose a Melling Select std volume/ hi pressure oil pump. Had no issues reusing the stock accessory brackets. Result is a 10.2:1 408 SAE gross HP engine that's been trouble free from day 1. The block is bored .040" over so it's a 357 with stock 3.48" stroke. 45-48psi oil pressure at hot idle. SP04 includes moly rings, so get them seated properly and you'll have no issues.

ATK sells the cheapest, most unreliable engines on the market and do not stand behind their warranty. We found out the hard way, so save yourself the time and trouble and buy from a reputable manufacturer. And don't be fooled... ATK and LKQ are the same company.

Just installed an ATK HP36 383 stroker engine into a 64 El Camino. 7/23Was in stock at Summit Racing, had it installed in a week. The engine is well built and runs perfect, very smooth and powerful.no issues at all.

This company does not honor their warranty, this engine was installed by a professional. Not overheated, temperature tabs were still intact, block deck was clearly not flat. 2.7litre Toyota. After they inspected the engine, they claimed this was caused by a spark or fueling problem. 6k miles on the engine. After new engine there has been no spark or fuel issues. Do Not Purchase anything from this company.

Absolute joke for quality and timeliness. After the last 2 engines we got from these guys we are done. Both took double the time to get that they said. They give you a few random gaskets but none of the important ones. This last rngine was a 3.7 ford, came with 2 stripped out bolt holes in the crank as well as a broken off bolt in block. This company dont give a dam about your problems, once you buy it youre on your own.

I am a certified purchaser with receipt to prove. I gave 1 star because the actual block itself, like the naked block alone hasn't cracked yet and it's at 20k miles. But everything else is 100% garbage . I'm not going to list everything that is wrong but if you think the VERY well worded warranty is going to cover it.... Think again. Look them up on BBB Better Business Bureau, Reddit, Yelp or any review site and you will see. I'm just posting this to try and stop another(thousands) hard working person from losing there hard earned money. Just a quick summary: lifters ticking since 10k, already leaking oil, tremendous loss of power, sputters if you go to pass someone, smokes about every 5th time or so that you start it.... I don't even have time to get into that rabbit hole. Anyway they have the warranty setup so that unless you are riding down the road and imthe engine breaks in half then they are not fixing it. Even then they will say another external part covered it... if anyone wants a ATK 5.7L GM replacement engine with 21k miles find me on Facebook. You can have the whole thing for $500 and the 3year warranty too!!!! but seriously $500 come get it. Don't let your mechanic talk you into this. They will push it because the profit on their end is so high versus having to purchase a quality engine. LOOK THEM UP. REPUTATION SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.

ATK does not stand behind their warranty as a ASE Master tech/Advance level specialist and a Toyota Master diagnostic technician. I purchased a HP32M Chevy 350 crate engine from this company. And after not even 1k miles or even a few months developed a nasty noise from the engine. After the repair was made and having to pay a (authorized shop) to repair the engine I was never reimbursed and the claim was denied even though they sent the parts for the repair. Do not purchase an engine from this place or you will be paying out of pocket. It has been 6 years now and still fighting for payment! I have had to go threw BBB. I talked to them today and was hung up on. That just shows you what kind of company this is.

I purchased a block from ATK Engines back in May of 2018, I had some problems with the block. Contacted ATK, Brandon Simkiss approved the block for warranty return. Furthermore I dealt with Eric Smith, he was a great help! They assisted me with refund of my return shipping once it was inspected by their machinist. The whole process took about a month but it was well worth it. If I had to I would buy from ATK again, they're reviews aren't the best but in my case I was helped, and satisfied!

Small block 5.9 360 magnum . First of all save yourself the hassle and build the motor yourself. I made the mistake of going out on a limb with this company , head bolts 15lbs shy of spec. I rolled the dice and put it in anyway . Motor ran great for 4500 miles then the main decided to go and start puking oil . I am not upset with atk what so ever . I chose to take the chance and paid for it. I will never let anyone build motors for me ever again . DIY save yourself the headache . Thank you Jesus for allowing me to give you this one God is good. Praise the lord

About 5 years ago I purchased an ATK 383 stroker small block chevy engine. One word; flawless. The engine is in my 1966 Chevy El Camino. No problems at all. I just had it tuned up, and it's running like a top. Hats off to all the folks at ATK

ATK High Performance Engines did a great job with my engine build. I ordered a 632ci pumpgas engine for my Camaro, and they delivered!! The process was smooth, and the guys in the High Performance department answered any question I had. My engine has been running very well, and my only maintenance over the past two years has been spark plug changes, and oil changes. I would order another engine from them again. Thanks to Mark, Shae, Eric, Scott, and Brandon for everything.

Twice. Twice these idiots screwed me over. 1st engine they thought that they didn't need to get the HEAD BOLTS anything over hand tight. About a year of fighting later, they send out the replacement. 1st start sounded about like an industrial crusher machine. Their "Level 1 Tech" suggests that it sounds like a flywheel. Anyone with a proper set of 23 pairs knows that a flywheel is a high pitched whirring sound. took the timing cover of and found that the remanufacturing plant in mexico did't even attempt to get this hunk of $h!+ in time. Not even a little bit. At all.

Save your money don t buy from ATK/LKQ Horrible warranty claim experience. Eric Smith is the worst person to deal with. Same goes for his boss Brandon. They never paid out on labor the whole thing was a nightmare. If your looking for a good motor look elsewhere I received two bad engines both with dead lifters. The second engine I just cut my losses and paid a local builder to re build it. Worst experience ever buy from someone else!

STAY AWAY!!! Absolutely horrible. We bought a 5.4L through NAPA that came from this place. The engine only lasted 3000 miles and the head gaskets started leaking. I filed a warranty claim and their warranty is a joke. I have to pay for the repairs up front, then they reimburse a portion on it. What a joke this place is. Their tech was very rude and unwilling to help at all. I m kinda wondering if the engine is even rebuilt or just pulled from another vehicle and washed down to look good. I will guarantee this place will never get another dime of my money. Horrible customer service, horrible product, horrible business.

I stopped using ATK years ago.. I got one and had low oil pressure and it kept getting worse as you drove it.. and the next thing they wanted me to do is put a high volume oil pump in, that took care of it while I drove around the block before pressure went South.. next was high pressure high volume.. that took care of it while I drove around the block again then pressure went South next thing they told me to do was install heavier springs for even more pressure obviously that didn't work let's be honest none of this nonsense fixes an engine.. . next they blame it on us for having a ballooned torque converter,, obviously this road car did not have a balloon torque converter you had to move it over to get the bolts in as normal.. then they wanted to credit us for another motor not give us our money back... a very very very bad experience a lot of hours wasted and two engines installed for the price of one.. the second one I checked and plastigauged the bottom end

WORST PLACE EVER , don t get an engine from them unless you won t drive the car that much. I wasn t able to read reviews before getting the engine because my mechanic recommended them and advance auto parts got the 1st engine and it lasted 3 months when misfire came out , filed the claim and got the other engine , they did not cover the labor because it was already 3 months , so I was like no other choice , now with the 2nd engine the same issue misfire on cylinder 2 and 3 . Psi came down to 65. What type of parts are they using to rebuild this engines ??? Everything was done correctly when breaking down the engine , no more than 50 mph and rpms@ 2,000 . Didn t load the truck. Nothing wrong was done from my side. 1st and 2nd engine the same!!! What s next ? Who will pay for the extra expenses ? Don t throw your money and time with atk!

TJ, the guy who handles all the returns, was less than helpful... and tends to never respond to customer's emails. That being said, I would advise anyone against doing business with this ATK. I received a defective cylinder head from them last year, it was quite a hassle getting it shipped back to them. On top of all that, ATK was more than 2 months behind on their returns, so they never ended up testing my cylinder head to confirm that it was in fact defective. I ended up waiting so long that the third party who I ordered this part from finally issued me a refund just because I was still waiting.

My Husband purchased engine and then leaves a negative review about how they don't stand behind their engines or warranty and they have the dang review deleted.Engine had zero miles on it and had a dented oil pan inside and crank shaft was hitting. Had to have problem diagnosed, then they only give reimbursement of a whole $350....to cover a $100 tow, the diagnostic charge at shop, whole engine pull at shop, and then engine reinstall after new engine sent. So after being sent a faulty engine we had to deal with a process with them taking 9 months for the warranty claim & new engine and out of our own pocket $1600 because they don't cover everything for a faulty engine that was their fault/problem.Do not & I repeat DO NOT order ANYTHING from this company.Definitely should have read the reviews before dealing with this very unprofessional company.

Have built 3 separate engines for one truck because every time it gets installed the heads bust on it after using it for 2 weeks And not to mention it s taken 3 months to get each one of those engines in! I have been without a truck for 10 months because of this company and know that I m getting my fourth one put in it. They are telling me they don t want to do it under warranty and the agreement was a 3 year 100000 mile warranty! Absolutely terrible company! And I ve had 2 separate shops look at it and they have all told me it s the guys building it. Not me

This place is horrible they are a vendor for Jegs and I ordered a replacement motor kit all the rest of my parts came within a week. It took over 5 months for the motor to arrive. After my mechanic spent a couple days installing it and putting all of the other new parts on. Come to find out the new motor they sent was no good. I have spent a total of 12 hours on hold or talking to somebody with their warranty claim center and it is a joke and have got no answers. So am rebuilding this motor with my mechanic now ourselves. Save yourself the time money and hassle and do not buy from this company. Have a great day.

Absolutely horrible warranty, not even past 10,000 miles and I have a rod through a piston. 2nd engine from these "performance engines" they claim.

First, they sent out the wrong engine. My mechanic had already removed the engine. So my car is up on their rack and the waiting for the new replacement engine begins. A month goes by and all we hear is excuses and incompetence from the salesman of why it's taking so long to get us the correct specified engine. After 2 months go by, I give up on them and buy a used engine. ATK is not reliable. I strongly recommend NOT purchasing an engine from this Company.

Your custom care and engines are terrible. Less than 10k miles on engine and rod broke. Called customer service and was told s.o.l. and hung up phone on me. I'm shocked summit uses a company like atk! I won't buy anything from summit because of the issues atk engines caused.

Ordered an axle assembly from ATK for my '09 Yukon. Took 3 weeks to deliver, but with the supply chain issues I could understand. Axle came in a nice plastic sealed tub and was shipped with fluid already installed. Came fully assembled just swapped over park brake shoes and installed. After install noticed differential locking while in parking lot situations (G80 Eaton locker) and was concerned. Called tech support and filed a claim and the people I talked to were excellent. They said put some more miles on it and see how it does and not to worry we have a claim number if it doesn't get better. So with that assurance drove it and after 20 some miles it has been great. I called them back to tell them and they said if anything else to let them know.

I would have post 0 stars if possible. I put my ATK motor in 2 years ago, after installing the motor it started ticking the day of installation. After a year and a half of getting jacked around, I was told to install lifters, which I had to pay the parts and labor. Before then I talked to a James the tech, who took over for my other tech whom I never talked to. Then after not hearing from James for a month, I talked to Karla, who said James doesn't work there anymore. After sending pictures like I was asked, I never heard from Karla anymore. Now I call again and talk to Pam, who is supposed to be a manager. I send more pictures and the copy of the invoice where I paid the labor to Install new lifters. Now I am still not hearing back from them, and when I e-mail Pam, I get this answer. We are looking at the lifters. I have was a mechanic for 45 years and owned my own business for 21, if I treated my customers this way, I would have been out of business. Not a company I would recommend anyone to use.

Purchased a rebuilt engine (through my installer) for my 2004 F150 5.4L.Had had nothing but problems with the engine from day one. Truck has been back to the shop at least 5 times with them checking various things and changing out parts. Nothing helped, continuing to get dry starts. It's a matter of time before the engine fails prematurely. The truck is a daily driver, each time it goes to the shop I have to arrange for alternate transportation. As someone can imagine after spending $6,000 dollars for presumably a newly rebuilt engine, I'm not happy. I don't usually write reviews but usually read them. Went with this company because of the recommendation of my installer. My mistake, hope others will learn from it.

I purchased a motor (from jegs bc i thought they had reputable vendors), had it installed. Rear main seal was leaking and took to dealership for repairs. When I contacted company they told me I had to have pics of repair (From the dealership) to reimburse me, even though repairs were made by ASE tech at a dealership. They don't stand by their work, zero stars would of been a better rating!

If no stars was a choice I would select it ,I bought an engine from local Napa , 3 mos. later it was back with crankshaft excessive end play issue ,thrust was out . Napa told me to call ATK, I did several times and never generated a call back. I am a 33 year veteran to automotive repair and have owned my own shop for as long and have never had issues with my vendors until now, I have another ATK engine that has failed and I am once again unable to resolve the issue with them. I will say that the local O'Reilly's paid for the first engine at over $4000 and asked that I only buy from them , which I am but I have another ATK that was purchased in April of 2021 that has 16 k miles on it and has a crankshaft issue as well and now I am in the same boat again, lets see how this turns out. I bought both these engines with a 100% parts and labor guarantee from my vendor which keeps referring me to ATK.
