Awesome place for peace & quiet. Well maintained and staff very informative and helpful. Loved all the deer and peacocks roaming the park. They have a spring fed swimming pond which looked awesome, but a bit cold now for swimming.

This is a slice of heaven. I've knocked some stars off because we went on family Day (Wednesday) and I could swear that in family day you paid by car, not by person. Also I went to the source of the water and it's so clear and beautiful, white sand at the bottom. It made me wonder why the water a few feet down was so green you couldn't see a foot below the surface?Either way, it's a natural spring that feels amazing in a heat wave, that was built by the government and I wonder why it's in private hands. It should be open to the public given the group that built it. Privatization of the natural resources God gave humanity. God love us!Absolutely no pets allowed because they poop but the dear poop and that's alright. Maybe I'm just crazy but hypocrisy just is rampant.

I had an amazing time at their spring! The water was cold and the sun was hot, it made for an excellent experience. They had deer that were not afraid of people, seemingly unbothered grazing around us. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend!

We stayed for memorial day afternoon and it was really nice. The ladies at the gate were friendly and quick to get everyone in and give the information needed. The gentlemen on the golf carts on the grounds were very friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds were clean. Even though it was a Holiday and there were quite a few people there it was still pleasantly comfortable. I also appreciated them having back up law enforcement present to keep the peace even though there was no problems. After all its better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them.

The place is beautiful. The water is good and cold. The caretakers are strict about the rules. We observed several men on golf carts riding around managing the grounds, which did include speaking aggressively to patrons, mostly over parking as long as you don't mind following the rules, it is a good place.

It was amazing here! The water was blue and so cold but extremely refreshing on a hot Texas summer day! Definitely worth the $10 entry fee for the swimming hole! Well worth the drive and I drove 3 hours 1 way just to go enjoy the day here. Its nice to get away grom the city and go to the country and see all types of wild life and be only feet away from Deer's! Very very relaxing and rejuvenating!

Odell and Frances are the nicest folks managing Camp Tonkawa RVPark and Campground. We were caught in the great Covid19 Virus Pandemic with nowhere to go after Texas State Parks closed their overnight camping (even for self-contained RVers). We had stayed one night at this park in 2019, loved it and came back for a month s stay to social distance and wait out the lockdown. The park is a former Boy Scout camp, has uniques features such as the flock of Guineas and Peacocks. Also a herd of twenty five or so unusual deer. We really enjoyed our stay despite wild East Texas weather. Torrents of rain, hail, tornado warnings, power outages and some flooding of our original site. I think we had the hundred year storm! Odell helped us clean up our screen house and got us moved to higher ground. Who knew East Texas would be such a drama queen? All in all, we really did enjoy our stay and would (and will) happily return to this really nice campground.

This is a little spring fed swimming hole. The water is cold, but it's fun. It has several rope swings hanging from trees. Bring your own food snacks and drinks, there are no places to buy food etc. Entrance is $10 cash only.

We went on a Wednesday (family day) between 3pm to 646pm. It was very peaceful and all the staff was extremely kind. Seems like family days are the best days to go since there is no drinking allowed. I had a wonderful time and I ll be going back a lot more the rest of the year.

Great place, staff is friendly. No trouble from other customers. Lots of room for swimming, you can grill if you have a propane grill. Water was freezing! But I believe it's a natural spring. I'd like to see a better pathway to restrooms is only complaint, and if you have any footwear, you're fine. Great place!Restrooms: Porter pots is all, but there's at least 8 from what I saw.Picnic area: Tables and benches set up in different areas. That's about it for a picnic area.

This was excellent ! Ice cold spring water with a sandy bottom on a 100+degree day is better than the beach or swimming pool. A bit crowded but I can't blame folks. Some trashy people but they are anywhere you go. We ALL just wanted to cool off and have fun in the water. As for complaints about the golf cart guy......he has a job to do and those complainers must not have been obeying simple safety rules. The place was clean .<--- That means alot.Restrooms: Porta potties are out and about 100yds or better from the water thankfully and well kept. Also a changing area near guardshack.Picnic area: Some picnic tables are spread around the water

Very quiet, except when the guineas get loud, and that's not a negative; I like that there's lots of wildlife: deer, peacocks, guineas. The deer are fed every morning at 8am

This was our first trip here and it won t be our last. We really enjoyed it. The owners were super nice & helpful and the water really nice and cold for a hot summer day. The kids had a great time there this morning.

So let me start by saying this place is beautiful the swimming area is perfect for families to enjoy the day. However if you have read the other reviews there is one huge problem confrontational golf cart guy. This was our first visit we were given the rules upon entry and followed every single one of them. However confrontational golf cart guy didn't even let us get parked before he rolled up and started yelling at us. I apologized even though we didn't break any rules and tried to tell him it was our first time visiting but he cut me off and started berating me again. After he unloaded on me he went away we got parked and set up and didn't have any more issues. I would definitely recommend this place to others but just know that this guy is there and he is a huge jerk. I don't know if he is the owner or camp host but whatever his title is he needs to learn how to communicate like an adult.

Beautiful place. Cold water in the middle of summer. Clean water and camp grounds. It's 10$ entry fee but it's was worth it. Wednesday's family day. 5$ per person, no alcohol but alcohol permitted the rest of the days. This is my new favorite spot!!

Good water to swim, taken care of, police on duty so zero problems. Nice bridge to jump off of. Deer and peacock were on premise. Overall, a nice experience. Missing a star because there isn t much to do, so bring entertainment with you

Absolutely loved it. So clean. And I feel like it is safer than it was several years back. Even though I live 5 miles away...camping was so much fun. Can't wait to come back.

For a campground that is really not that nice and pretty dated they sure have a lot of over the top rules. The campground was mostly empty except people there to work and yet they are crazy judgemental about who and what equipment they will allow on their property. Fire ants everywhere. Folks weren't so friendly and even though they allowed us to stay this one time because we had a reservation we were informed we wouldnt be welcome back. We were respectful and clean but that didnt matter. The water in the pond was nice to cool off in. Probably wouldnt be back even if we were welcome.

Terrible experience. The Mt enterprise police showed up and body slammed a kid as he was kicking him out. Threw him on the ground and dug his knee into the kids back before flipping him over to choke him. Then he arrested the kid and allowed the staff to choke him while handcuffed sitting on a golf cart. Will never return. Apparently the kid was smoking pot, but everyone else there was drunk.

Had a good time with my 9 month pregnant wife and 2 year old daughter, until it was time to leave and had a can of pepper spray pulled on me by the so called owner angry golf cart guy who screamed at me and my family. He didn t like the idea of us using his water faucet to rinse the sand off our feet. Price per head went up since last time I went, but apparently even after all the money they get they still can afford to let you or your family use a little bit of water to at least rinse your feet. I m banned apparently, but I think I ll survive.

They allowed Mt enterprise police department to body slam a kid and choke him before arresting him. AFTER sitting him on a golf cart the staff from the golf cart started choking the kid while he was handcuffed. We left after that and my child is still asking why cops treat people that way.
