Ive had mixed experiences, I think it depends on who you talk to and work with. Overall, a great place to take your car to get inspected or if you already know the problem and it s a simple fix. The lady who works there is always super nice and helpful, don t ever get the feeling she s trying to rip me off. I appreciate that. In my opinion, the cheapest garage in town and they work very fast for most mechanics.

Great people. Have used them several times and will be back as a repeat customer. I am a gm for an auto repair shop and it s actually more convenient to leave my vehicles here and have them service them than it does at my own shop. Plus supporting local business is great as well. Keep up the good work guys.

Drove here, but I guess it wasn't open? I called and the voicemail said something about their systems being down and was dated for the summer so not sure if the voicemail was just never updated or if they're closed.

Very disappointed in this company. 1st the woman that took my car couldn't drive my stick. I was very uncomfortable with her taking my car. Then I was told my brake light was out. Fine fix it. Then I was told they couldn't because they are afraid of breaking it. Total was of my time! It took 1 minute to change out my brake blub. Why couldn't they do that ? Go else where. Customer service Sucked!!

This place came through in a pinch..Definitely heaven sent. Quality and timely work done on my vehicle and I can t thank them enough. I was stranded in Elgin after my starter went out and even though they closed at noon on the beautiful Saturday after New Years, they came to where my vehicle was located quickly diagnosed the problem and found the part had me up and rolling before 11:30..Thank You Hurst team

Operation hours inconsistent with signage, it's a hit or miss in getting in for an inspections. But when they are open, service is decent.

All of the people that work here, make me proud to call Elgin, home. The Inspection Lady is a true joy to deal with and they are willing to work with you to find a solution that is cost effective and get you back on the road safely. You can drop in to talk or get your vehicle fixed or both. If you want something special, they've been known to let you bring it to them and they'll put it on, you just pay a small amount for their time. The atmosphere reminds me of Goober's Garage from the Andy Griffith show, but in a good way. A small business that hasn't forgotten that you have a choice where you take your vehicle. Give them a try, I think you'll find they do good work and for a reasonable price.

Nice group of people. They're good to work with you -- you can shop for what parts you need (find a good deal); bring them to Hurst and they will do the labor for you. Keeps you from being knocked around by shops charging overhead for parts.I normally would be going to Jay's (another good choice in Elgin), but came to these guys' due to their Saturday availability. Either way, great to see Elgin with such superb options.

They will straight up pretend you are not even there. Went to get a state inspection but after 15 min of waiting and no one acknowledging my presence even to say hi or ask me to wait I left...guess y'all don't need customers

Very friendly, fast inspections. This is the best place to have your inspection done. We take our cars and trailers here.
