I was referred by my best friend to bring my classic Mustang in for a transmission check up. I was prepared to have the transmission rebuilt due to the issues I was having with the car. I was extremely pleased with the experience overall and my ride will be on the road for a few more years thanks to Robert and the crew. More smiles with the miles!!

(UPDATED)This is a very respectable shop. They're usually busy which is a good sign that many people trust this shop. It was recommended to me by a good friend who, at one point, worked here. They've been here since roughly late '88 to early '89. Great customer service. The lady in the front was very nice and patient. Brian came in and was very cordial as well. I do have to add there's a really nice waiting area. I'm having some problems with my transmission and I'll update this after they diagnose what's going on.(I was given an extremely informative description as to what was going on with my transmission. Sadly, I took my vehicle elsewhere to a friend of a friend that could do the work at a price I could afford at the time. The trans did get fixed but other matters arose that was only fault of the person who did the work. Long story short, I would much rather wait and save up the money to bring my vehicles here than other places or people.)

Had them put a clutch and replace cv axles for my vw which they said they knew how to work on, this was a year ago before the cv axle they put on broke off and punctured my tranmission which they would claim "had nothing to do with them". It's been a year since this and I'm still without a car because these tranmissions can go for up to 10k, DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE WORK ON YOUR CAR!!!!!!

I had a major transmission issue. They found a line disconnected and fixed it. They could have told me anything. Honest folks, fair price.

Hellyer Transmission and the employees have done an exceptional job rebuilding my transmission. Atmosphere was professional, knowledgeable yet friendly and informative regarding what all was going on with my vehicle. I had the work done in Oct 2022 and my transmission is still going strong. I would definitely recommend and return to have more work done here. Thanks to all of you, as you all deserve recognition for a job well done.

I had my transmission flushed and an alignment done on my RAM 2500. They were great to deal with and the price was extremely reasonable. I will be back with my other cars for work.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

The overall experience was excellent. Brian the shop manager was respectful and communicated with me throughout the two days my car was at their shop. He kept me in the loop of where the process was at and when I could expect to pick up the car. They installed a short throw shifter on my Mustang GT and lowering springs all around. The price quoted was a little bit higher than I expected but I decided to do the work there anyway as it was still reasonable. I would recommend this shop without hesitation, primarily because of the great customer service.

I am a single woman and going to mechanics is scary for me. Hellyer always made me feel at ease. When my truck's transmission gave out on me in 2014 I had it towed to them. They rebuilt my transmission in my 2007 Eddie Bauer Expedition EL and I have never had a lick of problem with it. Here is it 2020 and it still runs great! I got my truck back when promised too. The people there are so friendly and made me feel like I was valued as a customer. I HIGHLY recommend them. I will never go to another for my transmission needs.

I just want to Start out by saying Thank you to Hellyer!!!! this is a real none paid review but from the heart and the work they done. I have a BRZ Subaru and I took it to them on a Tuesday 9am and they had my clutch and flywheel done by Wednesday 4pm I was shocked in so many ways 1 the time because the avg time every one from Channelview, clover leaf, baytown to RMS said it was going to be 2 week and 3k!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's with the parts I had NOT HELLYER they we Honest and upfront 100 transparency and fare with labor and everything else. the shop is super clean well kept and professional along with the Techs HOUSE KEEPING IS A DIRECT REFLECTION REFLEXION OF THE QUALTY YOU WILL GET !!!!!!!!! this was the first shop I tool my car to in 100k miles and only hear on out..... a true Family owned business Christian approved, Mason approved, Subaru approved.... I will be sharing this place with everyone I know.....please if you have work done hear and are happy gave them a review 5 stars it helps people who need a peace of mind that they are in the hands of a true and trusted friend with safety they can not worry ...... thank you God for this company..................Service: Transmission

I picked Hellyer to service my '91 Bronco's transmission, transfer case and differentials. I also had a broken speedometer from a previous 'repair' from another shop. Brian was upfront and honest about the pricing and the issues they found. The repairs took a little longer than expected, (an extra day for another parts run) but everything was communicated with me, and I told them upfront that I'm working from home and have other transportation. When I got the truck back it shifted well and the speedo was smooth as silk. I also got a report on a couple of action items I should take care of in the future. All in all, I'm stoked with the service from Hellyer.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance

Took my son's truck in for transmission issues. They repaired and did some additional diagnostics. Price was reasonable and they maintained contact with me throughout the process. Had no "surprises" that some repair facilities have. Quick 2 days in and out, for transmission repairs that is quick.

Fast, friendly and helpful. I have used Hellyer's many times in the past and they have always fixed the problem quickly. Everyone I have dealt with has always been courteous and helpful. I will continue to use Hellyer for all my vehicle needs.

Had transmission fluid changed and both wheel bearings replaced.brian and his crew did an awesome job. Was back on the road the next day . Will definitely do business here again.

We just got our transmission redone this week, and even got the Jeep back in time for Christmas. The work was great, and for everything that was wrong with our manual transmission (yes, we pushed it to the limit before taking it in), the cost was very reasonable. The only trouble we had was with the financing. Financing is in house & they started the work immediately due to the time limit, but we hadn t been approved for financing yet. Our credit s good so we thought it wouldn t be a problem but, when they found out that we d just moved here, there was a bit of a debate about it. Thanks to Brian at the Deer Park store it all gone settled and done on time. He was very clear about what was going on and kept in constant touch with us. Both my husband and I talked with Brian, and I never got the feeling that he treated me any different as a woman which is a problem I ve had with other mechanics. All around, I d recommend Hellyer Transmissions to anyone I know who needs transmission work, but I would also recommend getting that financing paperwork done first so it s a smooth ride all the way (just like my new transmission).

Originally posted a bad review due to faulty slave cylinder on brand new clutch I purchased from Advance Auto. Was also upset that I had to pay again for labor due to the faulty slave cylinder. Overall, service was great. I received a discount for the labor which was fair enough.

Can't thank them enough for their honesty. They could of worked us over and we wouldn't of ever known the difference. We thought our transmission was out and it turned out to be a fuse. We've taken our car back since then for other problems and they jumped right on it and fixed in a timely fashion, thank you Robert and Brian

Hellyer repaired my transmission and it runs great! They treat you right and will not release the vehicle until it is right. I highly recommend them for transmission problems.

I had an experience when I took my truck in for checkout and estimate. After what happen to me I thought about not saying anything but the more I thought about it the more frustrated I became.They were going to test drive my truck so I indicated I had something in the truck I wanted to get before the test drive. I took pictures of the center console the door storage and the glove box with my phone because I did not remove the item before going to the garage. After driving the truck home I opened the console, door storage and glove box and compare to the pictures on my phone, you could easily see that things were shuffled around as if someone one was looking through my belongings.What confirmed my suspicions were the 2 coin holders in the console that were now empty except for one coin in each slot. No one is every in my truck except me and the test driver. These coin slots are always full just to organize the lose coins.Empty you belonging before letting a stranger in your vehicles. It happens even in Deer Park.

Really disappointed. Huge waste of time. I was told they could do the alignment that day, and it would be by EOB, I told them my model car and everything, and was assured they could handle it. I bring it in at noon and work from the cafe (sbux) the rest of the day.I come in at 430 to check up, and they are getting started, I observe the guy fumble around with the equipment, and then upon me striking up casual conversation on his thoughts and what the issue was, he tells me he has no idea what he's doing, and he not sure how to set it up. He proceeds to follow through a sequence of adjustments. Long story short, they don't even have the equipment to perform a proper alignment, and the only guy that knows how to do the alignment is out that day, which they could have and should have told me upon my initial inquiry. As you see, if they want to charge me 119$ for an alignment, when the actual Subaru dealership charges 135 and I would have had a gauranteed qualified professional working on my car and it would have been done in less than 2 hours, and they can't even do me the respect to responsibly assess the situation and thus waste my time and thiers completely, I can't help but wonder how they actually view and think about the consumers in general that try to support local businesses such as them.
