Very informative, honest and helpful owner. Went for an oil change, recommended that I change the air and cabin filters, but get the filters off of Amazon and do it myself to save some money. Which....lead me to trust them and they are now going to replace my brakes because of the honesty.

I have been doing business with Starkeys for a long time. They are always up front with you about repairs needed for your vehicle. They are fair in their price and being woman they do not try to take advantage of you. They are very honest about what repairs you need. That's why l always go to them.

Went to Starkey s last week for emissions testing and I was very pleased with the service. Emily went above and beyond what was needed and took the time to bring some serious findings to my attention. I have been looking for a service center to repair a few things on my car. Car inspection was done quickly and efficiently. I was also shown a that I had an oil leak from a bad gasket. I appreciate that because I just had the oil changed 4 weeks ago at another location and was not told to of this visually evident problem.

This is my second time using Starkey s Service Center after moving to Dallas 2 years ago, they were recommended by a colleague of mines. As a single female I appreciate the care and information the team at Starkey s provides me with. My car was having some steering issues and they diagnosed the problem within a few hours, repaired it over 2 days and recommended I get one additional part repaired to continue the longevity of my investment. They truly treat you like family here, they are priced fair and will even provide you with a ride free of charge to a destination while your care is being repaired!! Amazing!! My wife and her father trusted and went to Mr. Starkey for decades. So we went there this time, even though Mr. Starkey had retired. But we won't any more.Read the reviews. There are good ones. Also read the negative ones, though, and see how you feel about the owner's responses. That tone is more like what we encountered. Maybe it's just a different take on customer service. But it's one that will keep us from returning.

Negative camber maintenance was successfully completed on driver side wheels. Bike hitch removed as requested. Oil change done. The maintenance was done in a professional and timely manner.

I am sad to report this, but I've had two very NEGATIVE experiences with Starkey's on Davis, and I feel compelled say something.I should say first that I had had a positive experience with them in the past. They did a great job on my wife's Honda's brakes, which made me pretty happy to have found an extremely local auto shop that I had hoped that I could trust and use long-term. So, of course when my friend's car started to have problems starting, I suggested that he take it to Starkey's.Before we took it in, having had some experience with auto repair, I had traced the problem the best I could to the starter solenoid. I took it to Starkey's told them what I thought was wrong, and they said they'd check it out. I was perplexed when they called and said that their "comprehensive computer testing" indicated that the problem was the alternator (generally, an alternator problem will result in a dead battery, which is a problem the car never had). I told them that I thought that was unlikely, but they insisted. I asked if they would guarantee that their fix would fix the problem, to which they replied "yes". You can probably guess the rest of the story; after a $475 alternator replacement, the car came home and still had the exact same problem. When we took it back, they wanted to charge us again to find the "additional" problem. In the end, they could not find the real problem, and charged my friend $475 to fix a problem that the car never had. To this day, my friend's car has the same intermittent starting problem.The next experience was with my daughter's car's air conditioning. I took it in because it was not blowing cold. They said that it had a leak at the filler valve, and charged me to fix it and charge the A/C. Shortly thereafter, the A/C was no longer blowing cold. I took it back to them, and they told me that they'd be charging me $$ to figure out what is wrong. I objected, saying that they had told me that they'd found the leak, repair it, and re-filled the freon, and that if it was not blowing cold they had failed to fix it. A short back-and-forth resulted. I realized during that exchange that I no longer trusted them to repair my cars. I told the lady "never mind", and she said "great" and walked away.The bottom line is that I have lost trust in their ability to diagnose, repair and stand behind their work. The New owner does not know how to treat her customers . I ve been coming to this place for several years but not any more. I felt I was treated by an owner who was arrogant and condescending. I m sorry but she needs to learn how not to come across like someone who thinks they know it all.

For me not to drive so far because I drive a Mercedes really a hole in the wall. Got great vibes off the employees and everyone was nice, respectful, and kept in touch with me every time they were working on my vehicle. I recommend and they been in business for about 50 years!!

I trust them to tell me the truth and not charge me excessively or for things I don't need. They are also very good at educating the customer! Having car problems is very stressful and normally you aren't having your best day if you are at the mechanic's shop. I always feel heard and looked after, putting me at ease as much as possible in the situation.Service: Air conditioning

I read several postings on the Nextdoor app about Starkey's and it was all good. Then I noticed they were open July 4th so after I drove around their little island 3 times, stopped and looked up reviews on the company, then I pulled into their place. I was greeted with such great enthusiasm. I shared that I was feeling vibration when I was on the highway. They did a solid check of my car and said they really feel it was just the balance of my tires. I went to Discount tires on July 5th and they did a balance of my tires. I took the car out on the highway to see if the problem was fixed and sure enough it was.What I like is this is a very family centered and community centered business. Even so much they hired one or two students from Adamson to help them along in their career path of automotive repair. They are looking to add more services in the next few months and I certainly will bring my business here in the future.Really appreciate their time the conversation I had in learning about them, their family, and business goals. I was actually referred to this place from a happy customer. But I believe they must specialize at fixing older model vehicles or perhaps strictly domestic. They didn t understand that my Lexus sport vehicle has different size tires in the front and back and cannot be rotated. Also never reset the service light that comes on every 5k miles. I just had to make note myself. It s not terrible just ok and I won t bring my vehicle there again based on lack of experience.

I pulled in this morning because my car engine light went on and it was idling roughly. The attendant came out, felt the car and immediately diagnosed it as a misfire. He said it could be any number of problems from a firing pin to a spark plug. Who knows? The best thing would be to do a $150 diagnostic test, he said, so they could identify the problem. He acted as though he was doing me a favor, because he didn t want any to guess and give me something I didn t need.A simple Google search will show you that any auto parts store will scan your car for free and identify the source of a misfire which is usually a spark plug or ignition coil. I m sure he was well aware of that but instead wanted to bilk me out of $150 for a diagnostic.Fortunately I called Clemente s repair just down the road and he ran the scan, for free because it takes all of 3 minutes, and identified the problem as spark plug 3.It s for reasons like this that people don t trust mechanics.

I went to Starkey s to get an inspection sticker for my car. Now in Texas this is no in and out task. You have to go to two different places to get it done and everything has to be in order. Me being a Louisiana native was not aware of this. But the employees of Starkey s were nothing short of sensational. They were nice friendly and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I had everything I needed before I left the shop. I was just amazed at the unusual acts of kindness. On top that they gave me a calendar with some cool auto photos for every month. So if I am ever in the Dallas and I need some good service Starkey s here I come.

I m so glad I did my state inspection there as I walked in and was attended promptly. I was told how long it would take as there were a few ahead of me. My truck also needed a replacement part. The mechanic had it and fixed it so that I didn t have to worry about it. I will definitely return as it s an honest business that puts its customers first.Service: Vehicle Inspection

I rarely write reviews but I had to for this business. I paid close to $200 dollars for nothing. I didn't even get an estimate of how much it would cost to do the repairs. They kept my car for three days and in the end told me that they were too busy to work on it. Mind you that it's not even the work, this is just to get an estimate on the work.I did not receive any call back or updates while my car was with them. I had to call each time and was told that they have estimates for the parts separately and approx amount of labor separately but haven t done the math. How hard is it to get an estimate if you know what you re doing?I'm new to the area and took my car in based on google reviews and hoping to support local business. These guys do not seem care for their customers, lack professionalism and are plain rude. I wish I had seen yelp!P.S. I did get my other car inspected on time but I would rather take it someplace else since they all charge the same.
