10/23/23 Latest update: the engine light went on again, I picked up the car last Friday, and just drove it for a weekend, and then the engine light was on again...I don't know what to say. Maybe this place is not the best place for engine lights but regular maintenance. Buyers beware.----------I'm upping my score here. The second visit there, the car was left there for Southwest Auto's technician for 2-3 business days to test-drive and figure out why the engine light was on again. According to them, the car is perfectly safe to drive, and the engine light being on was beyond control. There is no leakage, and the parts they replaced were good, so it's recommended to update the Volvo program system. We paid an additional $220 for the system upgrade & labor fee for test drives instead of the initial $148 diagnosis fee, which I can understand. Hopefully the engine light never comes back on. I know nothing about the technical side of cars, upping the score is for the seemingly trustworthy diagnosis based on the list I see and the free loaners car for my convenience. ;)------------Previous comment:First time visiting this auto store due to the good feedback on fixing Volvos. Service is fine and the plus is the complementary loaner's car & a free Uber ride. My car's engine light was on (the car was driving totally fine). With the help of an oil-change store, I got the code P0171: System Too Lean Bank 1. I then found this store and made the earliest reservation possible. Upon two-day inspection, and then 4-business-day repair, paying over $4k to fix most issues on a long list, in the hope that the car can be used for as long as possible, just a week after getting the car back, this morning, the engine light was on again. I called the store immediately and was told to check the gas cap -- which I did and I didn't see any issue. My colleague helped me to test the issue using an OBDII and got the same code before I paid over $4k to get the car serviced. I left a voicemail at noon but haven't received a call back in the afternoon. I'll visit the store next Wed and see whether they will help me further with this. I'm just hoping all the money didn't go to waste and they can really help me fix this asap. Will improve ratings if issue is really fixed.

I highly recommend Southwest auto for your vehicle repair. Recently, they handled my transmission leak on a 3500 Mercedes Diesel Sprinter Van/Camper. They were efficient, fairly priced, and Cory at the front desk was very communicative during the repair process. They handled the warrantee coverage for me and got me back on the road quickly. I cannot say enough how pleased I was with the service they provided.

I'm giving SW 3 stars for the cleanliness and communication. I was using them for all of my fleet vehicles here in Dallas (not to mention the referrals I gave them) until the last transaction regarding check engine light that turned up after it was picked up by one of my employees. Long story short, businesses sometimes will have an opportunity to choose doing the right thing versus doing things right. I gave them an opportunity do so, and chose to lose me. I hesitated to even provide a review, slept on this thought for quite awhile now. Finally found 60 seconds of my time, decided to write my 2 cents here giving a rating of 3 stars and not 1 because I want to be fair and more importantly, do the right thing.

We have been taking our Saab to Southwest Auto Service for more than two years. Each time we have received expert service. The technicians and staff go out of their way to ensure we are given quality parts and repairs. Highly recommend them.

The folks at Southwest Auto performed an oil change on my mother's Volvo. I waited at the repair shop, so they prioritized the oil change. They also let me know about items that could be addressed as part of regularly scheduled maintenance based on time elapsed on the Volvo, but because the mileage on the car was not at the point yet (the car is not driven that much), they let me know that the maintenance did not have to be performed. They were very honest and very nice and accommodating. They even checked in with me in the waiting area to offer drinks and free WiFi. I plan to go back for other car maintenance in the future.

I took my car to Southwest for the first time to have some work done. They were integral and kept me in the loop the whole time. Excellent communication and even accommodated my need to drop off and pick up my vehicle after hours. I will definitely be back for any more work I need done.

Brought my truck in for an oil change and squeaky brakes. I told them I had just replaced the rotters and pads. The pads didn't come with new clips so I reused the old ones, I was trying to give them all the info on the brakes. They charge $150 and all they did was a visual inspection and told me they could clean the breaks but no guarantee that would fix it.For $150 they should have at least checked the clips and cleaned them, not just told me this was the recommendation. They had my truck for two days and billed me almost $400 for basically just an oil change. With the wrong oil mind you.I removed the brakes myself and found one of the clips that holds the pad in place was broken. It would have been nice if the $150 they charged me included an actual inspection by removing the brakes and finding the problem. I will not be bringing any of my vehicles back. This isn't the first time they have done this, made excuses of why they can't fix things but charge me anyway.$150 to tell me the brakes need to be clean isn't a diagnosis.

Reasonably priced and very transparent about what is being fixed and where the costs come from. Super low pressure, I never felt like I was being upsold. Even told me what I didn't need to fix right now. They did in less than 3 days what Mercedes kept my vehicle a month to do. Cory even offered to set up an uber for vehicle pickup. Inconveniently located but worth the trip!

I had a nice experience taking my car in for brake service. The car stops and slows as it should now, smoothly. I definitely appreciate the service and care that they put into my vehicle.

Southwest Auto is very profession and knows how to treat its customers. They do excellent work and very reasonable compared to most high-end dealerships. I highly recommend them to anyone with a high-end foreign vehicle.Daniel A.

Southwest Auto Service & Repair was recommended by a friend, as with most things a friend recommends they re not always correct, this was a GODSEND, SASR is without hesitation is a THUMBS UP get your car fixed here, my friend said they were HONEST and FAIR PRICED. SASR has been servicing our cars for probably 10 years , NO COMPLAINTS.

They are very knowledgeable about my Volvo; knew exactly what to do and how to evaluate the vehicle; they performed the desired maintenance and gave me a "watch/monitor" around what they found during the whole vehicle evaluation.

I'm renewing my review from 4 years ago just to say nothing has changed. This is still the go-to indepentent repair shop in Dallas. I've been bringing my Volvo's here since 1996. 5 seperate cars. I've purchased two on consignment from them. In 26 years, I've never been less than happy. Corey up front makes you feel like he's your best friend and Jon is still around if you want to talk about the old days. I would never take my car anywhere else for any reason. This shop makes you feel like it's YOUR shop. Many thanks to all the people at Southwest Auto. Leaving this review for my father:So I took in my 2012 Audi A5 into Southwest Auto for an oil pressure light on dash.Spoke to Cory while I was at work so I was pretty busy he quoted me $731 to correct oil pressure problem. I agreed wanting to correct the problem.Couple of days later I was called that car was ready for pick up.Unfortunately when I picked up the car I was dealing with the exact problem that I brought it in for.I was told that an oil pressure sensor and pigtail had been replaced that sit pretty much on top of the block.Which I had mentioned to Cory that prior to me bringing the car in I had replaced those two pressure sensors. That I bought at Audi of Plano and personally replaced myself since it was was so easy to do. I don t understand why replace sensors that I had just replaced .If I brought car in for OIL PRESSURE LIGHT for haps I figured this technicians would want to at very least start off by checking the oil pressure then move to the next step. I absolutely think I got taken advantage of .Cory seems to be a nice guy will shake your hand and smiles and all that.Makes you feel like you re in good hands. But for the most part I believe they re not so worried about looking out for the customers best interest. I just had a bad experience at Southwest Auto and wouldn t recommend them to a friend, family member,or just someone I care for.

The team at Southwest makes you feel welcome, valued and their priority. Additionally, their communication is excellent!I had tried to get an appointment at the Mercedes dealership and was told 3-4 weeks before they could look at it and it had to be in their lot the entire time just waiting.Fortunately, I was referred to Southwest and I m so glad I reached out. They were ready, willing and extremely capable to diagnose and repair the vehicle within days! It drives GREAT! & Trust SW!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Oil change

Southwest Auto always does an excellent job on my vehicles. Right now it s the Volvo, and I know with the regular maintenance they will always let me know about any issue that needs to be addressed then or in the future. Each person is so knowledgeable so helpful in all the advice and it s just a pleasure to be there. Once again, with each oil change I know that they have checked everything on the car. Thank you SW Auto!Service: Vehicle Inspection

They were awesome. My son and friends had an issue with our Sprinter Van coming through Dallis, I ground these guys on google, took a shot and Cory took over. He was most helpful, communicated great, and got my kids back on the road. I felt they were fair and very accommodating.Service: Electrical repairService: Electrical repair

Great service that equals and often exceeds what a dealer provides at fraction of the cost. I feel it often exceeds as they are very honest and do not recommend unnecessary or excess services. Great job fixing the air conditioner.Update: March 2024 - still the same great service on my mom s 2001 Mercedes. Their diagnostic and repair service is fantastic. 100% better service and price than the dealer. I highly recommend Southwest Auto.

My wife, 2 year old son, and I were driving through the Dallas area in our converted Sprinter when the AC compressor and fan blower motor went out. We were 4 weeks into our 8 week trip and it was the week before easter. We called numerous shops and no one could get us in before we were scheduled to leave the following week. When we called Southwest Auto they were able to get us in and they were open and honest about a possible timeline for repair. The communication from Cory at the front was excellent from the start. We were updated 1-2 times a day (without having to call first) and knew exactly what was going on with the repairs. The communication made it easy to adjust our travel plans as needed. As it turns out we did not need to change our plans at all. We dropped our van off on Wednesday morning and Southwest Auto had it back to us by Friday morning. They switched out the ac compressor, the blower motor, found/fixed a power steering leak a Mercedes dealership missed, and performed regular fluid changes.I really appreciate the work they did for us and the communication along the way. Southwest Auto does excellent work all around and if I lived in the Dallas area I would not take my van anywhere else.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Steering & suspension repair, Vehicle Inspection, Brakes, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning, Brake service & repair
