My husband and I have been taking our cars here since we moved to Dallas, and have always been impressed with the extraordinary customer service, kindness, and integrity of the staff. They are fair and honest, and tell you like it is. This last week, I took my car in to get the brakes looked at because I had suspected something was wrong. They thoroughly inspected it, put it up on the machine and took the wheels off, and test drove it multiple times to simulate the issue I described, and found it was working as normal. When I went to pick it up, they gave me a thorough report of all they had tested and tried, and gave me their estimate of the life left on the brakes. Turned out that the brakes were perfectly fine and I didn t need any work done. John didn t charge me a single penny for all the investigative work they did to confirm there was no issue. These guys do not invent issues just to charge you to fix them - they are honest and truthful. Oh, and they also refilled my tires with air (my tire pressure warning light had been on for a while)! I wish all my customer service experienced were like Dunlap Swain - they re truly the best!

Honest and fair pricing. Everyone was friendly. They gave me multiple options and let me decide what was best for my situation. Location was great as it was 5 minutes from work and they had it all done same day. Highly recommend using Dunlap-Swain for anything automotive related.

Went to get a patch they advised it was the tire stem and it would be 120$ went to ross tire shop they did it for 35$ go to Ross Auto & Tire Shop

This place has always been super transparent and done right every single time. If they can t help they even refer you to a competitor that can. Whenever I can get my tires, inspection sticker or anything in between, I will be going here. One of the last mom and pop spots around.

My car broke down (a radiator hose popped off & busted) and unfortunately my Onstar was NO HELP but fortunately I was able to park at this station.I am so thankful!!! Onstar gave me the run around until 3am, so I ended up just leaving my car parked. I called Dunlap & Swain at 6:30 am and left a voicemail explaining my situation. They promptly called me back after they opened & told me not to worry about anything & they said they could go fix my car!! I was beyond thrilled! Did I mention I live a little over an hour from Dallas???My car was ready the next day! He kept me informed & was very curtious.YES! I absolutely recommend this place & will return for any future work.

When I go into Dunlap Swain. I'm treated with respect and my vehicle is tended to quickly. I fix my vehicle myself most of the time except in hot weather or if it's something that I can't do myself. I love that the mechanics here complemented the good work on my car and they asked me who did such a good job. I said it was me and they were very surprised. I do give them my business even though I can fix my own car.

The men here are always approachable and respectful. I usually feel very intimidated to go into a tire shop or mechanic shop because I get treated like I don t know what I m talking about. Dunlap here in downtown has the best customer service and fair pricing. Recently, I d been to two tire shops before Dunlap and they told me my tire was fine. One of them even charged me for the air fill. But Dunlap found the screw in my tire and patched it up asap they also don t charge for air so I usually leave tip.

I had a flat tire today and was conveniently near Dunlap and Swain auto shop. I was greeted warmly by the front desk employee and offered services immediately. It was discovered that my required tools were missing to remove the spare tire. Let me tell you! These men patiently went beyond and successfully removed my tire. Mr. Osei communicated well about the missing tools and how to go about having the entire kit replaced. The hospitality, customer service and maintenance here is worth the while. Stop by to see! In downtown had a low tire 12 psi, I called Dunlap Swain and someone was here in less than 15 minutes. Mario the technician was so professional and kind had me up and running in just a few minutes. Thank you so much!

I have used Dunlap Swain to work on numerous cars over the past 20+ years; they consistently provide quality services at reasonable prices. It's not often that you hear this about mechanics, but I trust them -- if they say it's needed, I know it is. They also exhibit "old school" mechanic skills, fixing or improving rather than simply replacing. Thank you.

I've been going here ever since moving in nearby. They do my inspections, maintenance, and now I can even fuel up here. Friendly staff, always do a great job, and at a more than reasonable price. I needed AC service last year (yeah, Texas summer!) and was quoted an amount. The actual amount came in slightly LESS than the quote. Can't beat that!! Recommended!

This review is specifically for new Dallasites. Eventually you ll need a state inspection for your vehicle. And likely even service on an older model.Well, I m saving you the research and telling you that this is your Downtown service station. John and Alan (GM and Service manager) are straight shooter that have your back. Say hello when you arrive.My inspection was well explained (fee wise) and took about 20 minutes start to finish with no appointment and a few phone calls that the station needed to answer in the middle.

Well, these guys won t take your money for no reason- so that s something, but if there s such a thing as too honest this place has that problem.Last week we sent our car in for an oil change and for a tire rotation or new tires and told them that we would be making a 20 hour drive to Virginia. They called us back and told us our tires were fine and would make it to Virginia. Well, 15 hours into our trip we are stuck by the side of the road with a busted tire. This could have been avoided if we we had gone to a better shop.We ve sent our cars here for a few years and I ve never had any reason to complain before now, but I will be taking my car somewhere else from now on.

Auto shops don t get any better then this place!!! I have always gotten incredible service here with great prices!! I ve never made an appt. and they can always get my truck done when I m at work downtown that day. Alan is extremely pleasant to deal with when you go in, too! They will even drive you to your office in downtown (if needed)!!

Love this place. State inspections are not profitable for these garages but the guys @DSTC complete them with a smile. When I do need service we will be returning.

Would not recommend bring a luxury vehicle here. If you look at the cars in the lot, they are mostly beaters. Anyway, I came here because I had a screw in my tire and wanted to get the tire patched before the long commute home. This place just happened to be a block from the office. I told them when I dropped my car off that the valve stem caps had a special lock on them that needed a tiny hex wrench was needed to unlock it and they could find it in the glove box. When I go to pick up the car, I noticed the valve stem was forced off with a wrench and completely screwed up the cap as well as the stem. When I go to talk to the guy inside, he doesn t recognize me even though I dropped my keys with him an hour before. He starts making excuses when I talk about the damage saying he s never heard of this in his 37 years of working on cars. Incredibly disappointing experience and will not ever be coming back.

I've been taking my 2003 Toyota matrix to Dunlap-Swain for 2 years now. They have been very consistent in providing accurate estimates of the work required and the expected cost. They're usually able to do same day as long as my car is in early enough. They've been great at communicating which repairs are essential and which can wait. Example: my car was shaking badly at idle. They diagnosed degraded engine mounts installed by my previous mechanic to fix a similar problem several years ago. Dunlap could easily have told me that all 8 needed to be replaced, but instead charged me for just the 4 that were actually damaged. The problem was fixed and hasn't returned. I've encouraged all my coworkers to use this shop (3 blocks to the Pearl station of DART).

Was stressed about having time to get my tire fixed. At the time they were busy , but still offered me a ride if I needed one since it was going to take a hour to get to my truck. That has never happened before.... I honestly felt o went to someone trustworthy. It was my first time going there and I'll just say I'll be going there from now on. Thanks guys!!!

I've gone to them twice now and they've always replaced my tires the same day at a reasonable rate. Called another shop and they said I'd have to wait until the next day and pay about $40 more than I paid here. Also, they dropped me off at my apartment and picked me up! Love this place!

We have used Dunlap-Swain for all our car needs for the last year and a half and I don't see things changing anytime soon. These guys are great at what they do and very good at communication which, for me, goes a long way. Great experiences here. 5 stars!

Since moving to TX - the crew have been fantastic. They provide excellent service and and give me the advise I would expect from my dad. They are my go to for anything dealing with my car. I highly recommend them.

In downtown Dallas when I realized I needed state inspection. This is a good old-time garage, like I remember as a kid-a long time ago but with comfortable chairs in waiting area.Quick and efficient. They know what they re doing

Dunlap Swain downtown serviced my company car in the late 80's when my office was downtown. Now that I live downtown they periodically service my car when the work isn't dealer- mandatory. Honest, dependable, trustworthy....about as good as they come. My highest recommendation. They once fixed punctured tire that the dealership said couldn't be repaired. So there..

When you are new in town and don't have a mechanic, these guys are a great place to turn first. They know their stuff, are honest with you and more importantly do great work. I have an 96 Bronco and they have done a couple things that I needed done on it and I could not be happier. Ask for Alan.
