This is the best place to get your motor rebuilt done right the first time! This is the second time I've used them for my motors 1st one a Chevy 454 2nd was Ford 5.4 liter Triton.

We had them resurface a head gasket and they did an awesome job for a great price! It was ready the next day! The staff was super friendly! Highly recommend!

Great knowledgeable bunch of people. This was my first rebuild and City motors was recommended by another shop to weld my crank so I used them to check and hone my block and do a valve job. I asked a lot of questions and John was really patient explaining everything to me. The engine looked brand new when I got it back, I followed all their advice for the assembly and break in and 1,000 miles later I've had no issues. I'll definitely use them again.

I brought the bare bones of a 350 in and CMS cleaned/machined and assembled the bottom end. I brought it home and finished it up and it turned out really nice. They did excellent work!

TLDR: They overcharge, have quality control issues, and take too long. They only time my truck has been on a wrecker was because of these guy's poor quality workmanship.I got my engine from these guys about 5 years ago. I am a professional diesel mechanic. These guys replaced my engine because I live in an apartment. I have found a few issues with workmanship over the last 5 years.- First issue was immediate and it was that they couldn't install the cam synchronizer correctly, so it took them 3 tries to get it right.- The second issue was found within 6 months, and it was that I found 2 exhaust manifold bolts loose, causing lean codes and high idle in my engine. One of the bolts was more than 3 turns loose.- Lastly, and it's partially my bad for just finding this, They put my exhaust hanger in the wrong spot, causing my transmission to be sitting on the transmission mount at an angle. Would this cause an issue. Maybe, maybe not. Driveline angles are a touchy thing, and I have noticed that my truck has a slight hum when driving below 1/2 a tank of fuel. Also, because the hanger was in the wrong spot, the exhaust was hung in the wrong spot, so it's not as simple as just reorienting the hangar. I now have to take loose the whole front exhaust and re-hang it.As for the experience with CMS... They didn't charge me more than was quoted for the engine replacement. They did however try to charge me OVER 100% markup on a new clutch and radiator. The clutch I requested, thinking it would be a small add-on because there was no labor involved. I denied it though since they wanted to charge me twice the price I would have paid for the new clutch. They did the same thing with the radiator, which I did not request. They stated, "you should replace it because it's old and probably has sediment build-up.", even though my truck has NEVER overheated. So of course I denied that upcharge as well.Suffice it to say, I do no recommend CMS to anyone. They clearly have quality control issues, and I doubt their ethics. I already know they are overcharging for add-on parts. They charge fairly for the engine, but make it up in "other" costs. My costs were $1320 for a Ford 3.0L in a 2000 Ford Ranger. Then an additional $2000 for Labor and add-on parts like belt and hoses (of which only the radiator hoses were replaced). They also took a week longer than they said they would. Taking 3-4 weeks to replace my engine.

People are so quick to say negative things about these guys but honestly that couldn't be far from wrong. They will quote you straight up and will turnaround in a very reasonable time. I mean I've dropped off rods to be hooked and they did it right there! every block that gets prepped by them has a high standard and am very overall pleased with the crew at CMS.. Its very evident by some of the negative reviews left that some of these guys with complaints shouldn't even be building/messing with engines!YOU GUYS ROCK and have a customer for life!

So many people are quick to leave a negative review because of a bad experience but that is not warranted in this case.My father has been buying motors and having motors rebuilt from City Motor since 1983. He highly recommended this company and I do too. I recently had a GM L94 6.2L V8 rebuilt by City Motor. The engine dropped a lifter and chewed the cam up. I took the engine to them for Premium Long Block rebuild, with DOD/VVT & AFM delete. I received my engine in a very timely manner and with no delays. Their customer service is exceptional and they will answer any questions that may arise even after you've received your engine. I did have a small complication in the rebuild that City Motor addressed, corrected and covered as per their warranty. This company will stand by their work, they honor their word and do not cut corners. City Motor will continue to receive my father and I's business so long as they're in business.

First let's starts by saying my knowledge on rebuilding engines is very small. Thats why I choose CMS to rebuild my engines. After receiving my engine block . It was missing all the screws and bolts covers and CMS didn't offer a new set to buy, plus CMS didn't even give me the old stuff back. All I got was a pretty looking engine. My mechanic had to go out of his way to buy all remaining parts at my expense. After everything was set to go. The mechanic showed me that the engine was not timed. And that it was CMS problem.Called CMS and they were NO help at all. They kept say "its time"I'm not a mechanic and they should keep there words on there warranty.FYI they said if I want my warranty then I must take the engine back.... really?!?!?!? The engine is already in the truck. More money .FYI don't bother going your self

I mean considering we brought our motor here for a complete rebuild and it didn t work the first time. We brought it back for the second time after we put our own money into the paint job on the motor to have to bring it back cause it started knocking. We take it back in and drop it off and they primer the whole motor including in side and covered up the mistakes. We call and say hey I don t know why you painted the motor for no reason and why you got the paint in side everywhere and they say oh well if you don t like it whip it off. Wow what a waits of money and time.

No job too big or too small! I had run the gambit of all of the local cylinder head shops and most of them told me straight up to call CMS for my little 1200cc cylinder head. I always prefer to do whatever I can in house, but I could not be more please with the exceptional valve job and new valve seats that CMS installed in my 1970 Triumph Spitfire head for a very fair price. CMS will certainly have all of my future business!

Purchased a premium 350 long block. First motor received was installed and had massive coolant pressure issue and failed a coolant combustion test in seconds. They offered to remedy by giving me another set of cylinder heads. I refused and requested another engine. Upon tear down found a severe amount of metal in the brand new oil pan. After quite some time they got me a second engine. Installed second engine with a new radiator as well since the presence of metal in the oil pan was excessive. Finished assembly and installation of second engine. Total of 5-10 minutes run time on second engine and it has the exact same pressure in coolant issue. At this point I settled for a set of heads and gaskets. After again quite some time they supplied me with a set of heads. After completion of the head job coolant issue was resolved. Found an obvious reason for the coolant pressure, visually should ve been caught. Second motor on second set of heads has less than 30 minutes total run time and has around 5-8 psi of oil pressure and oil is full of metal again. This truck has had 0 miles put on it and still needs an engine. Would highly advise purchasing an engine literally anywhere else. I have lost thousands of dollars on time labor and fluids without any resolution

I've used City Motor twice now. Years ago I purchased an engine for my '68 Firebird which ran perfectly for years. Recently we had the engine in my son's '02 Firebird rebuilt. Ran into issues with some aftermarket parts we supplied. Kyle and David worked with me and resolved everything. These guys stand behind their work and I'll use them again without question.

I took my F150 to City Motor supply three and a half months ago for an engine rebuild and still have not got my truck back. I paid 5300 dollars up front and feel like I am getting scammed. City motor supply has not called me to communicate so I ve been calling every Friday for five weeks and they tell me next Friday every time. Stay away from this place I wish I would have just sold the truck but they reeled me in with the website making me they were a reputable company with integrity. I bet I won t get a response from the owner either.

I don't know where these horrible reviews came from because I have had top notch service from beginning to end. Raphael even delivered my engine to the place when parts took some time to come I was aware with a phone call. The BEST customer service hands down. I feel like sometimes mechanics try to screw over women and this was not the case at all. The cheapest price I found was here and so far smooth sailing with my engine. I recommend this place no questions asked.

Never again. Dropped off an aluminum LS block on a Wednesday in early October for a standard block prep. Asked of a lead time and was told "Mon - Tues next week". Mon and Tuesday came and went. Gave it another whole week and still nothing. Go in person two weeks after initial dropoff and hadn't been touched yet. Was told give a call by the end of the day and it would be done. Still not ready. Gave it a few more days and called on Saturday and they didnt know if it was ready or not. Was told it was done by the first person I talked to and then was told it wasnt by another. Was told it would get checked on and id receive a call back. Never got that call. Also told the rep to deck the block during the call(never got done). Wednesday of the third week and I go in person to just pick up the block and take it else where. Apparently it was "done" but they were unaware it was "done"? Upon getting home and inspecting the block I found damages along the valley and head surfaces that definitely were not there at initial dropoff. Secondly they painted the block BLACK. Who paints an aluminum LS? I for sure didnt request that. As for the paint that's on it.. Hellen Keller could have done a better job. Waste of time and money. Take your needs elsewhere yall.

High quality. VERY honest. This is my second motor rebuilt by city motor. Obviously I was happy with the job they did the first time, or there wouldn't have been a second. This time I had to have the motor shipped to Colorado where the vehicle was broken down. I never gave it a thought that since the motor was going out of state that sales tax wasn't due. Nor did they until David caught the mistake and called me several days later to point out the error and asking for my credit card information so that he could process a refund. They could have EASILY gigged me for over two hundred bucks and I'd have never been the wiser. I'm very impressed.

Dropped off my engine on a Monday morning and the clerk wrote the ticket for a premium long block to be completed and out of the shop by Friday. After multiple calls and several stories later I received my engine two weeks later missing timing gears, front crankshaft seal housing, and bolts called them and they said to come back and they would have everything for me but that was not the case...3 trips later they then decided to deliver two used timing gears that were not up to the factory specs. My engine is installed now with a new timing gear I purchased and runs ok however the rear main seal leaks oil now. Never had any oil leaks in my truck until these guys rebuilt and installed the crankshaft seal. That being said if you do deal with them triple check everything don t assume they will be fair and perform quality work.

had to leave a star rating, had my 400 sbc rebuilt got it all installed and over heating right away. come to find out the head was cracked and was not found from the get go. Don't you all check the heads? and just recently the motor blew up oil pressure just dropped out of nowhere. and guess what since its been a little over a year the warranty is NO GOOD imagine that, I have other vehicles to drive so didn't even put that many miles on it...STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!

They constantly failed to meet any expectations. They make promises they cannot keep. They promise motor will be done in four weeks and going on two months. They promised to call you back with an update they never call you back. I would avoid the shop at all costs. It s not worth the heart attack.

I purchased a 4.7l for my 2007 Dodge Ram a year and a half ago and has not given my any troubles. The engine runs smooth, pulls good and has had no leaks. I am very satisfied and would do business again.

Forced to give it one star b/c ZERO star option not available. Short block lasted 8,000 miles. Tear down by ASE mechanic revealed cylinder sleeves installed incorrectly that scored cylinder walls and took a chunk out of the bottom of the block. All main bearings extremely loose. Two different sized connecting rods. Wrist pins connecting pistons were not fully pressed in. Shoddy workmanship at best.

My first impression of motor was good , it is a hemi 5.7 for a 2016 ram 1500. Install was good I primed the oil system with a garden sprayer which worked well I'm running royal purple breakin oil, it started perfectly over all I'm very happy. I've currently put 40 miles on it. Will update later ....Ok so I have 1150 miles now runs great I've drained the breakin oil and am now running regular royal purple I am 100 percent happy....so I've got 9000 miles now still happyI have returned to say I'm still happy I've got about 10 to 12,000 miles on truck at this point and have very minimal complaints would definitely recommended and would do business with then again

Brought my 2006 Grand Cherokee here to have the 5.7L Hemi engine replaced in Feb 2018. From the first week I had it, there was an oil leak and unacceptable valvetrain clatter on start up. I brought the vehicle in a total of three times (incurring considerable inconvenience and car rental expenses) and neither one of the issues was ever fixed. They admitted the valvetrain noise was not normal/OK, but NEVER offered to fix the problem. Now, more than a year later, the oil leak and noise have gotten worse and the longevity of the engine is very questionable at this point. Also, exhaust leaks developed at both manifolds and I incurred more than $1,000 of repairs to get them fixed. The shop I went to found they had siliconed two gaskets together and stripped the threads on one bolt on the driver's side manifold. I got the oil leak checked out prior to the warranty expiring by a dodge dealer and I'm looking at a BBB complaint or possible legal action. Buyer beware! Shoddy work and they don't make things right.Update - Never heard from anyone regarding this review. Oil was leaking from both the pan and the rear main seal as I suspected. I had a reputable, independent shop fix it which cost a considerable amount. Stay far away from this business as they do shoddy work and don't stand behind it.

I just want to share the great experiance I've had with city motors. I had my Dodge 4.7 vin N engine rebuilt by city motors. The polite and professional staff helped me unload and load the engine from the back of my truck. I got the engine back in 4 days, and it looked great. It even had a complete gasket set. The engine fired right up, and ran and sounded like new. However, the rear main sealed failed about a week later. Even though the failure was of no fault of city motors, John (Great and honest guy by the way) and city motors took care of me. I highly recommend city motors.
