Had a crankshaft cleaned up by them. Paid, picked it up, they said nothing to me about it.Fast forward to finally getting my project car together.. the rod bearings are right in spec with standard bearings.The mains. The mains are out by .005. They don't sell oversized bearings that size. Meaning I now have to go pay another machine shop to turn the crank another .005 and get the .010 oversized bearings. Theft if you ask me considering they happily took my money with an out of spec crankshaft.

Machine work on my 454 was all correct. Keeping small parts together is a challenge but they kept track. Experience level of this shop combines many years of skillsets- I hope younger kids coming in listen and learn from these guys.Engine runs great.

Short block appears to be done correctly,BUT, you ll get some of your parts back, not all. I was told to bring my engine as it is (called prior to make sure it was ok, and they said ABSOLUTELY bring it on it) brought it in with oil pan, and timing cover, flywheel ONLY. They said, we will call when it s disassembled so you can come get the extra parts. No call until 5 weeks later and it s complete. When I picked up the engine, they told me I didn t bring the oil pan, they find it the next day. Finally get a weekend to assemble, and I m missing the oil pump shaft, bolt, 4/10 timing cover bolts, and I haven t even gotten started yet. Really disappointed up to this point, as this is going to turn into a nightmare trying to figure out what was lost. Spend $300 more and get a organized shop to handle your multi thousand dollar investment.Also had to bring my receipts to prove I had already paid for the rebuild when dropped off.*9 month update, rear main was not installed correctly by engine builder, leaking oil so bad it s not drive able. only has 11,000 miles on it.

I have had 2 SBC Blocks (both still in use 3 years+), and 2 sets of Harley cylinders done @ Ted's, all has been perfect. It's a machine shop, they are going to do exactly what you ask them to do. The guy that runs it is blunt and to the point, again, it is a machine shop not an automotive advisory shop, if you are there you really should know what you want.

Teds Engine Machine , they bored & honed & chamfered the ports on a 2 stroke Vintage Cylinder for me & checked the cylinder head & deck , they did a great job ! The price was great also ! I will use them again & I highly recommend them !

couple months back I brought these guys a short block to be bored 20 over, honed and decked. I was waiting on pistons to come in the mail and they gave me a 2 week wait time and told me they would wait for the pistons to come to bore it. a few days later I get a call that they're finished and waiting to hone until I get pistons in. when I bring them the pistons they measure and tell me its good to go and send me down the road. now have the engine together and it piston slaps on warm up.

Great people and good work. I've brought in multiple heads to get worked, and had one on a very tight timeline. They went above and beyond to make sure that I got taken care of. I've been in the office many times when people call, and anyone who says the staff is "rude" or "unprofessional" are the folks who ask for absolutely ridiculous stuff, and don't understand what it takes to do these jobs. If you are patient and understanding, you get the same attitude back.

Very dishonest, tricky people, and highly overcharging for work others charge much less with better quality. Quality of their work is low. Their price is high and workmanship is poor, not to mention their customer handling. I had to re-do the work they did for me because my mechanic did not accept their work, costing me much more at the end. I did not want to deal with them so i did not bother going back there because of their poor mentality. I Do Not recommend this place to anybody.

Put Heads in to be cleaned and tested. Got price upfront on service. They did extra work without contacting me in advance. These heads may or may not have needed this service but I'll never know. What should've cost $40 ended up being $130 when I showed up. Even I said I needed the heads cleaned and tested I didn't mean mill then if needed. That's a service I should've made before they did it.

I got some heads freshened up for a little rebuild I plan on doing and Ted's helped me out with everything I asked for. Nice work, great price, and came back faster then quoted. Awesome!

Great people. Not only do that do great jobs on engines they're also very nice people. My husband's truck would not start because of the battery cables that came out and they helped me try to get it started. When it didn't they wouldn't let me wait here by myself and even though they were closed they waited until my husband came. I would highly recommend them.

I had a 'very' stuck bolt on a zero turn mower spindle that I could not break loose. After taking it to Conroe Outdoor Equipment who sells and repairs mowers where they could not get it loose as well; I took the spindle by Ted's... In a matter of minutes they broke it loose and I was on my way to making further repairs... Ted's has been in Conroe for decades and continues to provide excellent service! It's a great local small business...

Ted's is the only place I go for engine machine work. These guys are exactly what a real machine shop should be. Don't expect your work fast, but it will be right evey time.

My boyfriend brought his old motor to them and they messed several things up on there. When we brung it back, one of the workers slammed the motor back onto the table. They charged us for a head gasket that they didn t even give us, but we did get a refund for it. But still. They said they would call when it s done or when it needed something else done to it and they never did. We had to call them.The second time, he brought a whole new motor that needed to be cleaned and fixed up a little bit. One again, they messed it up. Parts of the motor is chipped and the cylinder aren t done all the way. They once again did not call whenever it was ready nor when it needed something. We had to call them and ask about it. When I went to pick up the motor, one of the workers were very rude to me.Will most definitely not return for anything else in the future!

I had a small engine from a lawn mower that needed 2 valves ground on a machine I dont have and they did it fast and i was in and outThey wouldnt even accept payment because it took less than 5 min to do it although i couldnt have done it without themMuch appreciated and hard to find good customer service now a days and these guys pulled thruHats off to the crew thereI saw lots of precision machined work while waiting the few minutes i was there and i can tell you they do great quality work if you ever need an automotive engine repaired this is the placeThank you Teds Machine Works for helping me out.Very much appreciated!!!!

Hit or miss.It's 50/50.The prices here have gone so high you can order performance crate motors for less money.They have very friendly and very knowledgeable staff tho

They may be okay with stock builds but avoid them like the plague on high performance builds! The machined and assembled a 511CI BBC for me about 5 years ago and it lasted 10 passes. An ARP rod bolts broke during warm up. Sent the bolt to ARP and found it was over torqued. Cost me 3 rods, 4 pistons and a block.

They took care of some v12 heads for me in no time and made them look brand new. Quality work and honest shop. Will return in the future

I have had work done by this company off and on for the last 20 years. The main reason I use their service is because they stand behind their work. Fortunately for me, I've never had any issues with the work this company has done for me.

I brought a set of harley 96 ci jugs to get flexed honed, they got it done quick at a good price and the work looked good.
