My girlfriend's son had taken his truck there to have the transmission rebuilt in Feb. 2022. Since it was rebuilt it has been one issue after the next. The truck has had to go back 6-7 times and doesn't seem to be getting fixed properly due to it keeps going back. The owner David stated that he is having problems getting quality parts to fix the transmission properly due to COVID/ supply chain issues. The last couple of times we have gotten the truck back there is grease/oil all over the interior and exterior of the vehicle (smears, fluid and hand prints). It's almost like they just let the truck sit there, then just dirty it up and call and say it is ready. Within a day or two most of the time it is right back in the shop. We have asked for paperwork of all the repairs and David says he will have to dig it all up. He just keeps giving them the same paper, which doesn't state the diagnosis, repair or parts fixed. MOST shops would provide you with paperwork showing customer complaints, diagnosis and repairs made. I would NOT RECOMMEND using this shop.Service: Transmission

These seems family owned and they are great!!!!The front desk lady was very very very nice and helpful kind energy. And so was the staff I saw. The owner was very informative kind and went out of way to help me even though it ended up not being my transmission,GREAT place!

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY !Since the day I got my transmission and torque converter rebuilt through these guys I ve had nothing but problems . I drove the truck around for a week and noticed the transmission temperature would run hot anywhere from 200-230 around town and when I talked to the owner I was informed that was normal for my vehicle. Fast forward a year and I was right back at the shop having another torque converter installed, to which they informed me that I was out of my warranty window so it cost another $800 only to not even drive 200 miles and ended right back there for another torque converter which was under warranty that time. Once they put the second torque converter in, I ended back up there not even 200 miles later for the third one. This happened two more times with the torque converter before they finally got it where it seemed to be right, but was making some strange grinding/whining sound that I asked them about and they acted like they couldn t ever find a issue and insisted there wasn t anything wrong with their work and the torque converter s they were getting were faulty from Covid times. Well I finally took the truck to a different shop and come to find out my transmission pump is out and that s what where the noise is coming from .

6/27/22 took my truck for a simple dipstick tube leak.. not even 10 miles on the truck and started leaking from the main seal i believe after the service ... my transmission just got rebuilt @161k miles been all over the US pulling my camper no problem ... I brought it to this place just for that simple dipstick tube leak and now it wont run 7/5/22 is todays date ill keep you guys posted to see what theyve done to my truck unbelievable pictures show right after i called him didnt get heat up and was leaking everywhere... UPDATE 7/6/22 i called the place we couldn't get to an agreement, i know for a fact there was nothing wrong with my truck ... he saying otherwise i took the truck with a small issue to the shop it came out dumping all the oil out not even 15 miles i drove it till it leaked all the oil... i give it a 2 starts though the dipstick job was fine he did it pretty quick and the leak actually stopped from there... but now i got a bigger leak he didn't want to assume responsibility for it I wasn't trying to get nothing for free... but if i take a perfectly working transmission with a small leak... and it comes out of that shop with a bigger leak somewhere else that is pretty wierd...

I want to personally thank these guys for their time and apologize again for @unitedway and the lies they told the both of us. I'm not certain if you got the tow fee of $170 but you letting me store my vehicle as long as you did before giving it to the salvage yard. The United Way assured me they would pay for new transmission. Only to have me tow it to your shop and refuse to pay. I tried maintaining employment but after me getting assaulted this time last year the effects have resulted in myself being fired from 5 jobs. And still no charges were filed. I will recommend you guys see how y'all handle my mess of a life. Thank you again.

10/10 do not recommend. They worked on my husband's transmission and not long after we were already having problems with it. Brought it back and barely a month later it's already messed up again. When my husband called he was laughed at and hung up on, and they have forwarded all of my calls when all I'm trying to do is get paperwork showing what they worked on. Worst experience we have ever had.Service: Transmission

10 out of 10 would NOT!!! recommend I have a 2016 Chevy transmission went out. Went here and had nothing but problems ever since. It took them three trys in a matter of weeks to get my transmission right so after the third time I thought it was right I started having issues again. I take it to get checked out they tell me it's the torque convertor again. So I ask is it covered under warrant David tells me no its not im 2000 miles over warranty. Which in my eyes he should have still have covered it under warranty cause I have the messages of him telling me his torque convertor vendor was getting bad parts. So in my eyes my warranty should have started the day I was able to drive off the lot for more than 3 days at a time and I would probably still be in the millage range of the warranty he gave. But now he wants me to pay again to fix his mistakes.And now since I paid the 500 to fix it once again it's been about 3 weeks and the transmission is acting up again ive invested 4000 into this transmission and hasnt made it a year! The day I got my truck back I didn't even leave the parking lot my truck had a horrible exhaust leak the quality of work here is poor and cheap parts now I have to go to an9ther transmission shop to get it done right. Warning just stay away!Once again after paying the 500 for a new torque convertor my trucks acting up took it to a real transmission shop my torque convertor is bad and it made me loose 5th and 6th gear stay away from this place.I've tried to call and get recipes for all the work done and David tells me there's nothing he can do for me and tends to hang up on me. I took my 2014 Yukon here because my son had a good experience and I was visiting him when my service 4 wheel drive message came on. Dave found the problem in about 10 minutes but then he also noticed by test driving it I had a broken motor mount I have a warranty program. He got it approved and fixed the next afternoon and I was back on the road. Awesome shop and he didn t even charge me for the fuse in the four wheel drive.Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

David and his team got my truck in and had it done the same week. He was honest and transparent about what was going on. I been here before for an issue with another truck and it was the same experience then too. While David appears to be very conscientious and does appear to attempt to fix things that are not repaired correctly in the first place, I would never recommend nor do business with him in the future. This is flat country and I may never have found the issue with my rebuilt transmission if it were not for the fact that I visited a business with a sloping parking lot. I put the car in park and my 85 year old mother started to get out of the vehicle and as I let off the brake the car started rolling backward almost knocking my mother off her feet. I attempted to place the vehicle in park again with the same result. I took the car back and he claimed that an INTERNAL rod was bent and this was the issue. HOW? I also noticed another post that stated something about the bolts on the transmission and a neighbor found just such a bolt on my driveway, I will check this out as well. While attempting to adjust the transmission he was pushing on one of the radiator hoses and broke that off and burned his arm. He would later accuse me of culpability to that even though I was nowhere near the vehicle nor was I pushing on the hose. I will have to take the vehicle to a reputable dealer to have it checked out to make sure it is safe and yet when a partial refund was requested he began to accuse me of all the damages done by his shop and himself. One other note, my horn worked before being in his shop and did not afterwards, I found this out when a car pulled out in front of me and I had no recourse other than cutting off the vehicle next to me to avoid an accident. Go somewhere else if you need your transmission worked on.Service: Transmission

I cannot say enough good things about Dave and the crew at Coastal transmission. The manual shift linkage cable broke on my Pontiac Vibe and they went out of their way to try and find this discontinued part for me. They kept me updated the entire time on what what being done. Their prices are reasonable. The quality of work is outstanding. And the professionalism is amazing. Add to all of that how they make their customers feel like a priority. 10/10 would recommend them!Service: Transmission

Extremely frustrated with this shop!! I had a 5500 dollar transmission re built here. when I drove to Austin my transmission began to leak. I had to pour 10 quarts of transmission fluid just to get it back to the shop to be told that my transmission had 1000 miles over the warranty limit. They did not give me any discounts and I had to buy another 1200 dollar torque converter because whatever they did ruined the first 1200 dollar one I bought. To only drive it 10,000 miles to have it leak again! I went under the truck to look at why it was leaking to only find two of my housing bolts were cross threaded into my transmission housing by the shop. I understand parts go bad sometimes, whatever I paid 1800 to get it fixed the first time. I know I did not spend 5500 to get it fully rebuilt with high quality parts to have it leak what it seems every 10 to 13 thousand miles. I am sure my parts are not the problem, I do not recommend this shop. I am having it rebuilt here in Austin now for the third time. Feel free to comment!! And save your time and money.

I had my transmission rebuilt here about two and a half years ago. I got stranded on the side of the road called around and ended up here. When I talked to David he said I would get all new components. I upgraded the input shaft because that is a weak component. Got the truck back saw that the transmission pan was leaking fluid. Took it back to them and they said they would fix it. For 3300 dollars you would not expect a fresh rebuilt transmission to leak. Well I dont live any where close to this place got my truck back and still the same old problem. This is my tow rig but nothing but problems. Had to get a new torque converter the other one they installed would not engage correctly. Long story short beware. Nice and friendly but not all the way up to par.

The staff was nice but, they changed my transmission fluid and a few days later my transmission cracked. I had two trusted mechanics look at it and they both said that it was cracked because of them changing the fluid. They told me I would have to pay to get it towed there and they would "look" at it. Even though I told him what was going on. The reason that I took it there is because it's supposed to be a transmission shop, obviously not!Service: Transmission

Great mechanic's and the owner is very honest. I pulled up on a Friday mid day and the guys rushed out to give me assistance and try to diagnose the issue!! Highly recommended this establishment for service, work ethic and transparency

My daughters truck was broke down and needed transmission work. It was out of town and I was not available. The team there did a great job of taking care of things with me not being there. Dave done a super job and he was super nice. Very trustworthy and fair business

I had my transmission rebuilt here. Once done, the issue came back a few days later. So I took it back in and they attempted repairs.I had only been in the area for work, so I returned home to Kansas City and the issue appeared again. I called them and they worked with me to find a shop here in KC and had that shop finish the repairs. I should note that the issues that kept arrising did not seem to have to do with their work, but rather with a faulty part from a vendor. I was very happy with them working with me and not charging me anymore until the job was done right.My only criticism would be a slight lack of communication. I often had to call myself to get updates on the truck.Other than that, I would go back to them again.

Excellent job rebuilding the transmission, horrible job bolting it on. (I did not have all the bolts when I brought it in.) I notified them of that front desk guy said no problem we should be able to find them. I get the vehicle back to look under the hood & see a bolt with 5-7 washers on it (could have found a shorter bolt or made me purchase one) I look underneath the vehicle & there is 3bolts that are sticking down I can unscrew with my hand. I being it back tech finds out there stripped says they did not do it. All I did was take the transmission off & they where not stripped when I took it off. He said he could put nuts on the back two & that I d have to deal with the front two. Poor service.Service: Transmission

David was very helpful and informative of what had to be done to my transmission. Gave good time frame of when it would be ready to pick up. Definitely recommend. Will be back again if I ever need more work done.

The guy supposedly offers a warranty but when we took our truck back to him, he refused to honor warranty. He claimed someone else worked on it. Grrrr. No one has touched that truck since it left his shop.

Very good service! It took a while to finish my Ford ranger but the parts was hard to get. It didn't have reverse and only had 2nd gear. Now its running like a champ!!!

From houston and got stranded in Sargent, they gave me a number to a tow truck service and pointed me in the right direction!! Very helpful staff, had questions about my 2005 Cadillac Escalade and they took the time to answer my questions. I would use these guys with out a doubt !!
