Took way too long even with an appointment. My appointment was at 12:10. And I didn't get called up until an hour later. What's the point of having an appointment setup weeks ahead of time?

Bobby in the Drivers License Department saved the day!! I can t say enough how much he truly blessed me today. Thank you This location was way better than ANY San Antonio location. With just a couple minutes Bobby and was able to resolve an issue going on for months that was not my fault. If any of the San Antonio locations took a couple minutes to figure out why I even needed to go in to renew my license I wouldn t have had to drive this far, but glad I did! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Was turned away before some lady even answered my questions. She was visibly annoyed and walked off when others were attempting to ask questions. When she finally came to me she was already trying to walk away. She then told me to go to Corpus Christi for an appointment since nowhere around here has availability. Apparently you have to have an appt or you re out of luck and they don t care at all.It seems like only one person is working the desk. There were only about 4 people waiting so not sure why they couldn t get those that didn t have appointments.

Absolutely disgusting customer service. The 2 ladies that work the desks there should be fired as they do NOT know how to treat people. I witnessed both females talk disrespectful to a woman in military uniform who was trying to help a young lady obtain a new ID. From what I overheard, the young girl just joined and was given a short notice date to leave and could only get an appt several weeks out in San Antonio. The recruiter was trying to help her get one so she could enlist and leave. The girls told her "No. Recruiters think they can walk in here and get appts on the spot and that's not how it works. That's not our problem." The girl started crying and her recruiter calmly walked her out. I left too because imagine this being thir child, or even mine. What kind of customer service is that? No offer for a different location, to schedule an appt. They just mocked them and continued to trash talk them once they left. I hope management sees this because from what I witnessed today- this location does not support our troops and these girls are horrible with customer service overall. Make the drive. go to a different location.

Today we received an excellent customer service from Tracy Espinoza. Me and My twin sister renew our driver license. She help us with a good vibes and a positive attitude. Made us both smile and it s so nice to experience this kind of treatment from Tracy. We need more people like her. I definitely recommend her to anybody. Great Job Tracy and thank you for all you do.

My experience at this DMV was disappointing. Despite my daughter and I seeking assistance as she pursued joining the Air Force, we encountered unhelpful and disrespectful attitudes. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this DMV due to the poor level of service we received. It was truly the worst experience I've encountered, and if it were possible, I would rate it zero stars.

Last week the system was down and my son s appointment was cancelled but the website said they would be honored. We went today and Ms. Tracy was so accommodating. She took him in first and had us in and out within 30 minutes. She was friendly and kind. Even went further to schedule him for the driving portion. Above and beyond, amazing customer service. Thank you.

Ms Erika was such a great help, I went in the morning with no appointment to get an ID for the first time and she was amazing. She helped me understand everything and was soo patient with me girl needs a raise for how she handles confused people. The lady next to her brushed me off when I had asked her for help but Ms Erika welcomed me with a smile.

The fact that you can't make an appointment until March (it's November rn) is wild to me. They say they have walk ins but you need an appointment. How does that make sense? The DPS is a joke

This office has the worst customer service. They are rude and have no people skills at all. Save yourself the headache and go to another office.

Very well staffed and qualified group of people here. All of the horror stories of the past regarding the DMV are no more. Fast check in service, sat down and got my license renewed in less than 30 minutes. The people that work here were friendly and knowledgeable, very competent group at this location.

If I was the supervisor of the employees at this DMV location, I would monitor their work closely because if the following reasons.I saw online that they have a limited number of appointments for walk-ins everyday. I showed up at 8 am, at open, and went straight to the kiosk. The kiosk had no option for walk-ins even though I was one of the first to come in. I asked one of the ladies who works there and she said, "you have to have an appointment". I asked a series of questions, including "how do I get a walk-in appointment since there are a certain amount everyday reserved for walk-ins according to he website" and "if someone is a no-show for their appointment, do you take someone from the waiting area?"She said, "the only way to see us is if you have an appointment", but there are no appointments available for 4 months.According to the woman who sits in the very left desk when you walk into the office, you CANNOT get a license unless you have an appointment. No walk-in options at all. So what are they doing in the time when there is a no-show for an appointment? She recommended I go to the San Antonio main offices if I wanted to be a walk-in. My question is, if they can take walk-ins for the San Antonio offices, why don't they do that for the castroville office? She said it's because there are not enough employees at the castroville office, but again, if someone IS A NO SHOW for their appointment, do they just sit there and wait for the next appointment?? In the time that I was talking with her, she could have finished my license paperwork. She also said that only one of the three women in the office issues licenses. According to her, the other two have different roles. Is there a tracking system for employees to track no-shows and how many people were actually seen at the DMV? There were only 3 people in the waiting area while I was there, and only one of them had an appointment. I asked her if I wait in the waiting area, will they keep me in mind if there's an opening? She said, "is ve had people wait in the lobby all day and not get seen." Seems like he is going out of her way to not help people that simply need to get a license. So what are these people doing all day?? Doesn't seem like they are serving the public and the supervisors of this DMV location should look into their work on a deeper level.

Texas DPS really needs to be revamped. It's not providing the services that the citizens need. If the best they can do is offer an appointment over a month away for what should be a quick 5 min visit, something is wrong.

There are so many things wrong with this dps office. Terrible costumer services, no information on where go or do for first time costumers, huge waiting lines, no person to ask about information in the front, and they don t take same day appointments. This especially infuriates me because I waited in the waiting room for hours, trying to see if I could get the same day appointment, and I had to find out by other people waiting as well. They are severely lacking staff so trying to get an appointment here is nearly impossible, having at least a 3 month wait time. I terrible experiences with them and I wouldn t recommend for anyone going there.

They don't answer the phone locally or in Austin . If you want to be seen without delay as soon as you a paper from them in the mail , you'd better make an appointment. Even for licence renewal, and then you need to have the proper paperwork. I had my original birth certificate from the hospital and they won't accept it . So next you have your birth certificate from the county, state that you were born . If you need an i.d , you will need your birth certificate, social security number, two proofs of residency. If you don't have an appointment you are considered a walk in and put you on stand by . They take appointment people first . Those people trying to get an appointment today didn't get scheduled until next month . I was lucky I got in to renew my licence so I suggest you make an appointment especially if you need to renew otherwise you are driving with an expired licence then risk a ticket , plus taking the test over again just to drive . Also you won't have i.d to vote . I hope this information helps . Remember to make an appointment as soon as possible.

Was really a great visit. Greeted at the front door, got directions/instructions ( with a smile) not a long wait. Then we had an awesome representative at Window #13 in Leon Valley. I didn't catch his name, but he should be an example of how to treat people.

Completely empty lobby and employees had one customer. Refused to do walk-ins. Appointments aren't available until January 2024. Unprofessional and unproductive. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get a Texas license as a new resident and it is made nearly impossible to do so.

Absolutely incredibly nice staff & driving evaluators. Make an appointment online in advance. If you need a walk-in appointment go to Leon Valley's mega center. Whoever manages this location needs to manage and clean up the grumpies at the Uvalde DL office. They spit venom when you walk in lol

You are required to have an appointment even though the lobby is almost empty and the staff is in the back twiddling their thumbs. Everyone behind the desks are rude and tell you to check the kiosk but the kiosk doesn t even work.

Unacceptable! I contacted Austin DPS and they stated all locations accept walking from 7:30 to 8 am. This location rejected all those who were walk-ins. I pay lots in taxes this is unacceptable! There were only 10 walk-ins and this location can t handle that? Maybe we need to replace staff!!! Get it together DPS. Appointments are booked out till January!! What the hell!!!

My previous experience with DPS in San Antonio other locations required lot of patience and usually the places were very crowded... BUT, to my pleasant surprise, this DPS location at Castorville was such a nice place with very nice and helping people!!!!Appointments at other locations were not easy to find if you are in a hurry to renew license (they were atleast 2-3 weeks away) but this location had open appointments for the next morning!!!! (of course, i had to check a couple of times and reschedule it). And, the staff at Castorville DPS were very friendly and helpful and completed my renewal even before my appointment even before the appointment time started!!! My appointment was at 2.40 pm but my work was done by 2.30 pm! A perfect and a pleasant place to visit and all the folks I spoke to were very friendly and were extremely helpful.Thank you all staff at this location and keep up the good work/service!!!! Hope the San Antonionians will find this great location for all their DPS related work!

If it was possible, 0 stars. As of Sept 26 2022. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, waste your time going here without an appointment, even though the website says walk-ins are available on a first come first served basis. I arrived an hour before they opened and was THE first person there. Appointment or otherwise. As soon as the doors opened a woman came out and said appointments only. No walk-ins. I asked her about walk in availability and she told me to check the appointment system scheduler system, which she knew and we all know is MONTHS out. December. I asked why the website says walk-ins and I was the first person there and she stated "well that was during COVID that we took walk-ins.' COVID has literally become the default excuse for people not to do their jobs. I love Texas but the process the get a DL is ridiculous. In no other state that I've lived in do you have to wait MONTHS. I then drove to the Gen McMullen location and was told the same thing. No walk-ins.

Very rude employees and staff. If zero stars was a thing,I would select it.Workers refused to help and assist 10 minutes before the closing time which is ridiculous.Drove 2 hours over there for nothing.they denied all service and like I said VERY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL at all.Learn to do your job people.Would not recommend going to Castroville DMV.
