I have proof of Murphos charging customers 120 dollar per hour and having people work on the cars that have no business doing so . Proof he is just clocking hours. Also took my car back down to bare metal with suspicions of bad metal fab and 1/4 inch thick bond to try and cover it up . spent $$ sand blast and t expose the real Murpho ! This work was all done at the old shop 2016. Bad chop , spot welds and shaved handles that weekend and warped the metal all exposed for all to see a central Texas autoworx.I paid absolute top dollar as you all know who know this shop . Taking my 63 Lincoln back down to bare metal exposed all of his work that he charged 120/hr to have amateurs doing the job . no offense to these guys in the shop Murpho has zero for retention rate. To get bak to the point this work needs to be exposed .Head on over to Central Texas auto worx to see his work exposed . Central Texas autoworx will be responsible for getting the work done right like it should have been done from the get. Don't be fooled out there bondo build ups to mask imperfections are extremely hard to see by the untrained eye (magnet test) also nobody out there has the balls to take back down to bare metal and see what's really real. All this circles back to applying a 25k paint job and having it crack and split 2 to 5 years later bc of bad metal work at the core .If you plan on building a car you better buckle up cause this shop is going to take you for a ride!!!!!Look at pictures the roof chop when he welded it back together absolute trash there is a holeLiterally in the metal . Look at the imdention the just covered up with bondo built it up instead of doing it right . The side rail trim we cut off and straight tunnel Ed it . He just tack welded and then built up more bondo to hide instead of weldingThe entire tunnel seem .long of bondo at murphos .Truth

I ll try to keep this as short as possible but I am really disappointed with this company.I bought a ratrod. It is a bucket of bolts but a very simple bucket of bolts. I was enamored with having the opportunity to take it to Murphos because I really wanted them to work on it as I have gotten too old and too lazy to do it myself. A bit of background; I was an ASE certified mechanic back in the day so I do think I still know a few things about cars. Here is what I described to them:Problem 1: Car pulls hard to the right when braking.Problem 2: Pinion seal on differential leaking.Problem 3: Engine running rough and backfires, pops, and wants to die when giving it gas.I get a call from the owner and he says really the only way to really fix this car is a total rebuild of everything ground up. He couldn t even give me a # where to start. After pressing a bit he said 25K maybe more. I asked what it would take to just getting it running right, not leaking from the differential and stopping correctly. We agreed on just over $1000. I said go for it as I just plan on selling it in the near future. After having the vehicle for awhile it is ready to be picked up and paid for. I live in Round Rock and because this is really not a great driving car I had it towed there $175 and then towed back $175 (I know this was my choice).I get home to take a look at the work that was supposedly done and the car seems to run better but the car still pulls to the right. On their work order they only put adjust brakes. Next day I email to question what exactly was done and to schedule up a call so I can hear it from myself how the brakes looked and performed since their invoice doesn t describe with any detail anything they did or discovered. I wanted to know if it wasn t the brakes then I wanted to know why it was still pulling when braking. I receive a voicemail from them and the first thing that was said on the voicemail was I told you this car was a can of worms. Right then I knew that they were not going to address anything they did to the vehicle. I abandoned my hopes for a call to make this right. I waited to do this review because I wanted to actually take a look at the brakes myself. I had long suspected that it had an inoperable brake wheel cylinder so I jacked up the front end, had someone spin the tires while I applied the brakes and what do you know, the right brake is working and the left is not. How can a reputable shop not do this simple test? I continued to remove the wheel to inspect the brakes, they were dirty, had a spider web on the side of the brake cylinder and look like they have seen the light of day in a long time. Sure enough the cylinder is jammed internally with dirt and old brake fluid making a solidified mass in the wheel cylinder. I had to press out the pistons with a vice they were so rusted in place. I disassembled the cylinder and am currently looking for a rebuild kit or replacement cylinder for it. This should solve the pulling issue while braking. This company didn t do anything but take my money for this adjustment. I don t believe they even took the wheel off the car. Now, I can see that they did replace the pinion seal on the differential but guess what? It s still leaking. They charged me for a seal and a gasket for it and did do the work but then dropped the ball by not confirming that it wasn t leaking anymore before telling me everything was done so I could arrange to have it picked up.The engine seems to run better and per their invoice they Inspected, tuned and fixed timing of motor. All in all they replaced $30 in actual parts and the rest was labor for a total of just over $1000.Be aware this company is a hotrod builder and not any type of repair facility. I feel if you don't drop serious cash with them they really aren't interested in doing a good job. I don't have money falling out of my pockets. They took a hard earned $1000 from me and gave me back a better running, still leaking and pulling to the right can of worms.

Finding someone to trust with my baby (69 Camaro) was a tough task. Glad I picked the right spot! I have let Murpho's work on my car exclusively starting out with adding disc brakes, then vintage air, and most recently installing a brand new LS3 engine! I can't say enough good things about this shop starting at the top with Murphy and Liana and down to everyone working there. The thing I love about this shop is every time I stop by, people are working. You can tell the crew loves what they do and takes pride in their work and the finished product speaks for itself. I am a customer for life! If you are looking for a shop to trust with your car, look no further!

Consistently the BEST. You re a total idiot to take your vintage car anywhere else. The attention to detail and knowledge these guys and gals have is unmatched- they re masters of their craft. Not to mention how bitchin the shop and staff are and how many badass projects they have going on- it s a real life tv show.

Really great little shop, owned by two really great people! I love supporting honest, down to earth small businesses and this shop is one of my favs. Cool t-shirt designs and some cool hot rod apparel I can't find anywhere else. I recommend calling ahead of time to check hours because I know they work car shows and go on the road for work, and there's only one gal who works in the store. But they are very helpful and accommodating.

Very expensive restoration shop, was told they are not A budget shop, not for the novice car builder. Their park and shines are ok. If you dont have 70 or 80 k or more. Dont bother..

Warning: Paint work is VERY expensive & if they mess up you get to pay to have it re-done!Short version:This team put way too much work 30+ hours ($4K worth) into 2 small motorcycle fenders that are being installed next to 15yr old paint. When I discovered they painted the pin-stipes backwards they offered to fix it on my dime.Long Version:Needed matching paint on some fenders for a Trike conversion & although I had a quote from Harley for $1300 I wanted to support local during the pandemic. Dropped off the fender to match and the ones requiring painting. Asked just to match what was on the bike since I am not repainting the whole thing. Both the paint manager and Conrad were great in person and reviews of the place were awesome. Hourly labor rates are reasonable @$100.At the end of the week I get a bill for about 20% higher than the Harley quote & thought "OK, I chose to support local and they are a custom shop so I paid the bill.A week later I get another bill for an additional $2600, so I called to verify the billing system did not glitch. Conrad verified that his team had spent around 30hours painting the fenders.I asked about the logic of putting $4300 worth of paint on one part of a bike while the rest had 15yr old paint on it. Its 2 little fenders... But he confirmed that most paint jobs his team does are around $35K due to the quality of the work (would have been good to disclose up front).Picked up the fenders & went to install them only to find out the pin-stripe was backwards.Called up Conrad and discussed some ideas of how to fix (fab a bracket, repaint the part that sits next to it, discount the work so I could go get something to cover up part of the part that sits next to it). He asked me to drop it off for them to work up some ideas.Left the trike with them for a day & he called back saying he could swap the fenders from side to side, but that would expose more wheel & allow water/road debris could come up and hit the driver. His other option was for me to pay to have the whole thing re-painted.I almost dropped the phone when he told me I could pay to have them fix their mistake. I again asked if they could just refund me $1500 so I could come up with another solution on my own (like take them to Harley for a repaint).Nope. My options were to pay for them to fix or hit the road!

I moved to Austin almost 6 years ago and Murpho's was the first (and last) place I visited when looking for someone to help me take care of my survivor car. This shop is absolute TOPS and they have a true passion for the work they do. Great people, amazing talent and I'm so thankful I found them!

Murpho and Liana are some of the most honest, conscientious business people I've ever met. They have helped me with minor repairs and major modifications on my 1963 Buick Wildcat. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. In fact, I'm going to take my newly acquired 1954 Chevy Step Side to them as soon as I take possession of it!! Top notch shop with top notch people!!

Murphos is not just a hot rod shop. It's a family of conscientious professionals who take pride in doing the work right the first time! I took my old pickup to them for major repairs, and am delighted at the results! New wiring, transmission, motor, gauges, and numerous smaller repairs. I can't say enough about their workmanship. They really care about the customer!I will continue to use them whenever I need repairs, but for now, they made me a happy owner of a 1950 Chevy 5 window pickup!

Without a doubt Murphos is the best shop in town. They do killer paint and fabrication. The car they built for me is a one of a kind and has been featured in many magazines. My next project will definitely be sent to Murphos.
