We had an axel replaced in September as part of a CV joint repair. The new axel had a complete failure, part of it sheered off, that cause the car to stop driving in traffic. We were very lucky not to have been hit, as we were on a service road turn around and merge lane, in Killeen at WS Young and I14 East bound, at 6:00PM. The car was towed in and left at this business for evaluation. I left a voice mail with my info pertaining to the car. I was called at 6:49AM the next morning by the owner. I got out of bed and drove over straight away to give him the key, and tell him the job was not a high speed priority, since we wanted to check with Insurance and maybe a lawyer about the Failure. Also, New Year's holiday was that Monday. Apparently that wasn't enough direction, they jumped right into fixing the car. I called and asked for pictures of the damage. Also, was told by the owner, " in 45yrs I haven't seen an axel fail like that." So, I'm not sure what really caused the issue the part or the mechanic or both. On Tuesday the 2 of January I called about 9-9:30AM and was informed they were sending the part to O'Reilly's for warranty. I asked to have the part called back, because I was trying to call insurance and lawyers. They got the part back. By late Tuesday afternoon I found out that the law offices had no interest in a failed part case without a death or injury. I called the shop asking for them to warranty the part and labor, as that was my only means to recover anything financially. Xavier, that runs the shop, not Mike the owner, was the contact for this call. He said he contacted O'Reillys and was told no they wouldn't process the warranty claim, because they had closed out the ticket. I proceeded to call O'Reilly's corporate office, because that didn't seem like the correct answer. After talking to the people at corporate with O'Reillys I found out the part was still under warranty and they could recover $50 per hour for labor warranty. The O'Reilly store in Belton contacted Xavier at the shop to get the warranty information, started again and pick up the part. After that had been done, and the car was completely put back together, we went to go get the car picked up. I asked to speak to the owner about the situation. The repair initially was done on September 11 of 2023., Their shop warranties labor for 90 days. The failure occurred at three months, two weeks and four days. The car is not a primary driving vehicle and have less than 3000 miles added since the repair. It has been setting two weeks prior to the failure. So, if I had been driving it two weeks earlier, they probably would've covered the whole repair without an issue. I went to ask about getting it prorated and have a discussion with them and see if they would go 50-50 about the labor cost. Meaning that they would collect $50 from the O'Reilly warranty, and $50 from myself. But Xavier decided to start telling me he just thought we wanted him to "eat the cost", then upset the owner with the same bit about "eating the cost". I could not even get to asking for a reduction of their rate from $115/hour to 100. I thought a slight reduction in the rate would be reasonable, considering if the failure had happened 2 1/2 weeks earlier. They would've been paying the whole bill. I had always thought that Mike and Xavier were nice reasonable people, but they are not. Over the last two years we've done probably $4500-$6000 worth of business with them; then got slapped in the face with their actions. We were told to leave the shop that we didn't do business there anymore.Update: I never disputed any previous bill with this business, they were always paid in full with cash, or credit card the day I was told I could pick up the vehicle. I m sorry Xavier thinks that he wants to make me look like a dirtbag. I paid my bills in full. You re the ones that were horrible to me. It s really sad that you think you can lie on people and get away with it. You are trying to imply I don t pay my bills, why would you do my repairs if that was the case?
