Barley wanted to give this place 2 stars. Ryan was the front counter person I spoke to about my car and he had really great customer service while I was there and since he s fairly new I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I didn t understand why he said my private information loud enough for anybody in the shop to hear including apt #. (just write it down or let me see) but other than that this shop is definitely fishy.I went in knowing I had a wheel bearing issue but for them to check my motor mounds. I was assured they will look over the vehicle for all remaining issues. A guy came in after me to pick up his vehicle and as he was picking up his car he found that they did do a oil change on it #1 the guy up front told him it will be about 15mins to do it 15mins turned into about 1hr+ & he told them he would never come back there again. & I should have just got up and did the same.After waiting about 2hrs and still not knowing what there going to do to my car. I was told they would give me a loaner vehicle until they process my insurance and do the repairs. Still not knowing what they were fixing. The loaner vehicle they gave me also had a tire issue the tire pressure light was on and it was dirty (have pics). So I called them and told them about this and I believe Tracy answered and she laughed it off and said as long as it doesn t get a flat after a couple hours I decided to call my insurance and see if they even contacted my insurance and indeed they did not. At this point I decided to get my car cause who knows what could be going on. So when I return the vehicle they asked if Ryan went over the issue. Which not really they stated it was the wheel beering but I already knew that and then some YT GUY assuming is David or Mr. Newman couldn t be certain since they NEVER introduced theirself. Said well why did you bring it in?? So at this point I m leaving and he taps on my car and asked if I read the loaner car policy because it smells so he threatened me with a cleaning fee. Really made me think about contacting my lawyer on this.NEVER WILL GO AGAIN WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND

I had the pleasure of being helped by the owner on my first visit. Very kind and genuine business they are running here. Brought a car in for a buyers inspection and thank goodness they did such a thorough job for me because the car ended up needing $6k in repairs (didn t buy the car). No matter what car I end up buying, I won t go to another mechanic in town. First impression here was outstanding. Each of the employees were just as friendly and warm as the owner. Thank you Newmans!!

I recently visited Newman's Automotive for an oil change and some repairs on my vehicle, and I couldn't be more impressed with the service I received. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome and at ease.They took the time to thoroughly explain the issues with my car in detail, breaking down the necessary repairs and why they were needed. What really stood out to me was their approach - there was absolutely no pressure to upsell or push unnecessary services. They simply presented the facts and allowed me to make an informed decision about how to proceed.. I definitely will recommend them to anyone in need of honest, reliable service.

Newman's friendly and knowledgeable staff always take excellent care of me and my vehicle. They have my one and only auto shop since I moved here 6 years ago because I trust them, they don't treat me like I don't know anything about mechanics because I'm a female, they don't overcharge for services or create work that doesn't need to be done. They are honest, fair. reasonable and provide quality service. They treat me like family! Thanks guys I appreciate you so much!

I don t know if I ve ever been treated as kindly by a business as I was by these guys. By the time I left, I felt like I d made a few friends. It s not a cheap garage, but they don t claim to be one. I ll pay a little more to feel like the shop genuinely cares about my car, which I rely on to earn a living. Also they listen to great music in the shop, and the shop dog Linus is super nice. Warning! Steer clear! (pun intended) Scam alert! Won t return ever again after first experience I was almost charged around $1,000 for a repair I DIDN T NEED!First time customer, went for an oil change. Seemed nice and efficient, quick turnaround. I guess they also did a quick inspection of the vehicle to make sure everything else was working properly.They explained to me that they found out that both the rear wheel brake drums, shoes and cylinders needed replacing due to a cylinder leak which can be serious and can cause major issues if not repaired soon. They were convincing and had a fancy video animation that showed what the issue was for those mechanically illiterate. Seemed professional and trustworthy, not to mention about a $1,000 repair in total with everything that needed to be done. So they say I declined the repair for the time being and went to another mechanic to get a second opinion. (A mechanic I ve been to multiple times and who s been very trustworthy). It s a good thing I did!Come to find out that that rear brake issue that Newman s quoted me was NOT actually an issue whatsoever! I bet they didn t even check it the mechanic told me they were totally fine and that there was no cylinder leaks at all on both sides. I have photo proof. No leaks at all, totally dry. Dirty yes, from use. But dry and no leaks, in good condition. They did not need replacing.Once I found out the visible truth I had to post a review of this Newman s place to warn others of this scam they re trying to pull! BE WARNED! It s a good thing I got a second opinion and actually got photo proof. I could ve been out around $1,000 for NOTHING!I ll never go back to Newman s Karma will be coming around for you guys. Car stuff is tough if you don t know anything about cars. I ve been to half a dozen places in South Austin but Newman s is hands down the best. They are kind without making you feel dumb, they are helpful and honest. I sat in their lobby for an hour waiting for my car to be inspected and every single interaction between me and them, them and other customers and between their own team was professional, kind and courteous. I had an additional problem with my car and they offered to help me explore my options without the pressure of having it done today which isn t something you see all of the time. Definitely give them a chance, they are worth every penny.

Right from the very beginning the staff (specifically Ryan) has been extremely helpful, informative, and transparent with me about what work needs to be done and the priority of when it needs to be taken care of. Their hospitality has eased my stress and I never once felt taken advantage of just to get more money in their pocket. Newman's has a new customer for life and I will forever be thankful for this experience.

David Newman and his staff were friendly, informative and helpful. They went above and beyond to not only diagnose and fix my car, but they also drove it to and from the Subaru dealership so Subaru could address an open recall. I highly recommend them! Family feel to the company and extremely quick response times.

Went in for oil change and tire rotation. Their automated process for making appointments is great! Definitely recommend making an appointment as they are a popular shop. I was greeted promptly with friendly service. They even did an inspection and offered some suggestions based off the mileage of my jeep. They weren t pushy at all saying I needed to get it done but just be mindful. They even took some photos of what could be fixed/replaced soon and loaded it to my profile so that I could access it at a later time. Will definitely go back for future service.

I was in a time pinch and I called in to see if Newman Automotive could squeeze me in for an oil change. I spoke with Tracy over the phone and she was wonderful and accommodating. She s good at her job. The service was relatively fast and the office had friendly staff, both with us clients and with each other. As far as I can tell these people put pride into their work.

Awesome, quick service! Brought it in around 10am, they were a bit busy so I left it overnight. They called me around 10am the next morning with a diagnosis, and my car was ready to be picked up by 3pm. If you re new to town, need some honest repair work, this is your spot! I previously went to El Calderon auto shop who did not find the problem, but I m glad this shop was able to figure it out ,even if it took 3 different technicians to find the issue. This shows great attention to detail and care.

My 1st time coming to Newman's. Their online scheduling system is very convenient and helps reduce wait time. I came in for a pre-purchase inspection , within 20 minutes they had my car in the shop. They communicated progress and when I asked for further details they showed me all the test results and provided me a written document that indicated what the car needed. Will definitely come back again.

Update: Spoke with owner after new battery conked out and they replaced. There was a disconnect between the promised service and the actual outcome.Beware! My son's experience with this auto repair shop was nothing short of a nightmare. Despite glowing reviews, the reality was far from stellar. The mechanics focused on the immediate issues for inspection but went on to recommend and perform unnecessary repairs, including replacing a recently installed battery.After a week, we were told the car was ready for pick up. However, upon inspection, the vehicle hadn't undergone the promised inspection, and worse, a minor oil leak turned into a major issue right in their shop! To add insult to injury, we paid a hefty amount, and their "thank you for your service" in response to our military time, felt more like a slap in the face!The mechanic's fast-talking expertise misled my son into believing they'd take good care of his car, which, unfortunately, was far from the truth. Despite having the vehicle in their possession and ordering an analysis, they couldn't identify the oil leak, which lead me to believe they analysis was not completed but we were charged for it.In essence, I strongly advise against trusting this place with anything beyond basic repairs. While they may handle routine issues fairly well, anything beyond that leaves much to be desired. Don't let their facade of competence fool you; you might end up with a damaged car and a drained wallet. Think twice before considering their services! Lastly, the car they supposedly repaired is sitting on the side of the road, dripping synthetic blood!

10/10 I would recommend Newman's Automotive for any car troubles, concerns, and second opinions. The team is extremely friendly and educated. They care about their customers and will go beyond to try to fix any sort of problems. They keep you posted on the process. They have very good systems on showing estimates, services, and prices. And overall, they are very fast. It's a breath of fresh air to find a shop that I can trust and know when I come in I will have a good experience. Thank you Newman's Automotive Team!!

$1000 charge for service that I didn t needBetter Transparency. Listen to your customer. Your rep did not even attempt to handle the issue I came in with and decided to fix something totally different. I came into the shop with a clogged catalytic converter. (I did not know this at the time) Because of this issue my truck was making an incredibly loud noise when you pressed on the gas. My check engine light also turned on. When I took it to newsman s I explained the noise and check light. After a few calls back and forth they determined the issue was with the air valve system. Asked them if it addressed the noise and they said yes. That it would. Let me know the cost which was high but if that s what it took it made sense. My truck has never given me issues like this before. I show up to pick up my truck the following day and my truck is making the exact same noise as when I dropped it off. They did not address my need and decided to fix something totally different from what I went in for. Not only that they mentioned to me my truck was making a rattling noise when it got up to temperature. That was false. It made the noise as soon as you pressed the accelerator. The exact noise again that I came In for. I have since taken my truck to the Toyota dealership where they diagnosed the problem quickly and at a small cost. Newmans also stated that their work turned off the check engine light but it turned on the very next day. When Toyota unclogged my Cat the check engine light automatically turned off. When I asked Newmans they said the part they replaced was under warranty in case it broke. I honestly don t think it ever needed to be replaced to start. Was charged $1000 for a part I probably didn t need and got my truck back with the same issue I came in with.

Wow, is all I have to say. Our paving crew was in Austin, traveling from Dallas and had truck problems. After calling multiple shops about what I thought was a rear axle seal problem, and having multiple shops tell me they couldn t help or have our F350 dually up and running in the time frame we needed, Traci Bearden answered the phone at Newman Automotive. She said her team could take care of us. Not only did she deliver on her promise, but she and the team at Newman expedited our repair and got us back on the road the same day! They re honest and efficient. They re so good all of the other shops I was calling recommending them. If you know anything about the mechanic business, you know these are hard traits to come by. I cannot recommend Newman Automotive enough! Above and beyond doesn t adequately describe the customer service they value here!!!Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair

I had an oil change here recently and was very satisfied with my experience. David Newman, the owner, even gave me a free lift home while I waited for my car. They showed me a few potential things I would need to keep an eye on as well but were very honest about the urgency and cost upfront. Would highly recommend!

I want to thank you for the professional service that I received at your establishment. My family and I were treated with respect and everything was explained to me prior to any services were done on my Tucson. Your staff is very personable, professional and friendly. I knew that I was in good hands. I want give a shout-out to Dwight and Linus for taking us home and picking us back up when my service was completed. It meant a lot to me. I can't thank them enough for the service I received. I have had my car for 7yrs and I knew it just wasn't driving as smooth as it used too. I ended up asking them to do an alignment and boy... what a difference it made. I asked if they did anything else on it because it made such a drastic difference. They also made other suggestions and even showed me the pictures of what needed to be done. I just move here from Indiana and was blessed to find an amazing mechanic shop. Thank you Newman's

First time to try Newman Automotive after losing faith in Kia dealer. It felt like old time real customer service! They answered all of my questions, performed free inspections, contacted me by phone and offered options and provided transportation back and forth to my house. Totally satisfied and happy!

Appointment process super convenient. Everyone in the shop was friendly and professional. It was clean and had a nice waiting area. I would not recommend Newman s auto group, please look at their negative reviews on Google and yelp, don t be scammed on the good reviews. What I read on the negative reviews is exactly what they did to me. They worked on my truck before and since it went good the first time I brought it back for a repair, but never again!Here is my stressful story!!!Took the truck in for a coolant leak, told them to inspect it to see where it s leaking frm and to see if it s under warranty, they stated it they did a pressure test and that it was needing a clamp to be replaced and the radiator cap replaced as the old one didn t close properly. Mind u I m talking to different ppl when getting information, upon getting the inspection I asked why the diagnosis charge was $257.71 if when I spoke to someone before and they said pressure test was $100 where did the rest of the money come from. He said he didn t know he would have the technician called me back. The proceed to tell me all this other stuff that was wrong wit the truck that I didn t ask for, he also confirmed that if we agreed truck will be ready same day as the repairs are minor. Tech randy called me back stating a lot that didn t make sense and made it seem lk they were giving me a deal. Saying they didn t charge for pressure test and some other stuff. Me not being a mechanic I ok d for them todo the repair of repairing the coolant leak only, he said it ll be ready the next day at 9am (again different info frm what I got before) so next morning I call at 730 to make sure it s ready as my husband had to get rides to pick up truck was confirmed he can go between 830-9am. Husband picks up truck @9am then I was called for him to take truck back so they can do performance test (idk why this wasn t done before they released it to us) husband takes it back and left again after they did wutver they needed todo. (Was like 10mins) as soon as my husband gets home the coolant light is back on and it s leaking doing the same thing we brought it in for. I immediately call Newman and they say to bring truck back so they can check, Long story short (bc it won t fit all in here- but explained it on fb reviews) they didn t look at my truck today bc of miscommunication on their end and when trying to get reimbursed for what they charged me since the problem is not solved the owner started talking bout other stuff not related and stated it was something else that it was building too much pressure(but they did pressure test?) but that they fixed the leak but something else was going on, but they didn t mention anything else in the inspection report and they told me it was good Togo. Mind u I was also told they didn t look at truck again today so where did he get this info from lol. The owner is just as crooked as his employees! Take ur car to a trustworthy shop!! Believe the negative reviews!

Newmans and staff have been nothing but excellent for me, I brought my car to them about a week ago maybe a little less, I had my car worked on at a previous auto mechanic and go did not do a proper job. Newmans and staff communicated with me every step of the way, took pictures of everything and made sure we knew what was going on before doing anything. I highly recommend them for any of your auto mechanic needs!
