Called to check-in and delivered my broken car by 10 AM on a Thursday. They removed my high pressure power steering hose, took it to A/C Rebuilders, had it rebuilt and replaced it. They changed an O2 sensor cleared the computer codes and replaced a parking/bumper sensor, all in less than 36 hours. Surprisingly quick and all good work! Price was more than fair! I found my new auto repair shop!Services: Exhaust, Steering & suspension replacement, Electrical, A/C installation & repair

Honest, smart, and friendly. This is definitely my new place. They diagnosed my car problems right away and fixed it so now it s running great. I almost got ripped off at another place saying my alternator was bad but it was not and they showed me, so I m very glad I brought it in here and found this place.

I have taken my 24 year old Jetta to Jimmy for over a decade for all kinds of things. I have never been disappointed - solves any problem, gets parts fast (how does he do it?), and always has it ready on time. Plus, if you wait at the shop, Jimmy and Papa Cal are great company. And the old Jetta just keeps humming like a youngster.Services: Auto exhaust system repair, Steering & suspension replacement, Electrical, Wheel alignment, Auto maintenanceServices: Auto exhaust system repair, Steering & suspension replacement, Electrical, Wheel alignment, Auto maintenance

I have been taking my older vehicles to Jimmy's for a couple of years now and wish I had used them before. They are very timely and I always feel like they are being completely honest with me. In addition, they can usually address my issue the same day or the following day depending on the repair. I plan to continue using Jimmy's for my future auto repair needs.Service: General repairs & maintenance

First, these are very nice people. Very courteous and I believe well intentioned. Not every shop will allow customers to supply their own parts, which saves money, but this shop does. This is a huge plus. Therefore, I might recommend this shop for minor work. However, my experience with this shop has been subpar. I brought my car in last year for leaking intake manifold gaskets. Turned out the timing cover was leaking too, which was unexpected but not an issue. The problem is after the work was done there was a large grease mark on the fender where the mechanic was leaning over the engine (no big deal, but annoying), there was a faint smell of burning oil (which is to be expected due to the nature of the work, but it never went away and in fact got worse), and a faint tick coming from the engine. I returned to the shop for other maintenance (transmission filter replacement, oil change, state inspection) each time mentioning the oil leak and told each time that it was normal. (Sure, the car is 15 years old, but the engine at the time had about 80k miles on it).The vehicle ends up leaking 1qt of oil between each of the two oil changes since this initial work. One of these oil changes was performed at this shop which probably should have noted the leak. I did tell them the car lost a quart of oil.During my return to the shop for the oil change, I was also told that my car was ready to pick up that afternoon/evening. When I went the next morning the car was still on the lift ,and was told that they were waiting on an oil filter. What????I took the car to another shop that was closer to my home for the next oil change, and they let me know there was oil leaking from the front crankshaft seal and the oil pan, and that there was a bolt missing on the front of the oil pan (engine mount bracket?) that would have been removed during the timing cover removal.I brought back the car to this shop for correction since it had been less than a year. They were kind enough to replace the front crankshaft seal and noted the engine appears to have developed a rod knock. (I also mentioned the oil pan leak, but was told that was not a priority with the rod knock. I also mentioned the missing bolt, but nothing happened with that either.)I have since spent more time researching and learning more about automotive repair, and I cannot help but have suspicion that something was dropped in the engine during the intake manifold and timing cover repair that caused the ticking sound and has developed into a larger and very costly issue. Yes, the car is old. Yes, there was leaking coolant and oil prior to the initial service. But I had a very thorough inspection of the vehicle performed less than a thousand miles prior to this initial service. The difference in the engine sound prior to and after the service was significantly different and the summation of the other issues with this shop point towards a fair probability that negligence played a role in the deterioration of my vehicle. I wished I did a better job of documenting the state of the car before and after, but you live and learn and hopefully this review helps others make a well-informed decision.Services: Engine repair, Auto maintenance

Jimmy's is great. They let you know exactly what the problem is and how much it will cost and fix the problem quickly. Jimmy is fair and upfront about pricing. He and his mechanics have worked on my vehicles for years. They will air up a tire or help you with a light with no appointment. They also work with factoy warranty companies. Several of my friends and relatives already go to him for their repairs and I would recommend Jimmy to sny of my friends and relatives.

I've been a loyal customer going on 4 years now. Whether taking my car in for an oil change or something more complex, I have ALWAYS received top of the line, professional service. Jimmy is a straight shooter, and his pricing is fair. I trust his seasoned insights and have referred numerous friends to his shop.I cannot relate to the folks who've posted 1-star reviews... the incidents they described don't align with the consistent topnotch experience I've had at Jimmy's Top Tech --nor do they sound even plausible.

My car started having an acceleration problem out of no where. I called Jimmy's first thing in the morning to ask if they had any spots to check out my car. Right away Jimmy said I could drop off the car and they would check it out. I asked about pricing and he said he'd get with me as soon as they found out what was wrong. I've had bad experiences at other shops where they quoted me ridiculous prices. He let me know exactly what was wrong, the pricing, and what was the most important to take care of and get me going. My car was fixed the SAME day and I am very satisfied with the quality and price. I will definitely recommend these guys!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

I didn t have time to shop for quotes, but I needed my car fixed immediately. They had it ready in less than 24 hours and ready to go. Fixed what needed to be done, let me know about anything potential in the future, and what could wait. Old school shop, with intuitive and knowledgeable staff on imports. Located centrally and very fast. Next time I need something done ASAP and clean, they ll have our business again. Thanks guys.

Jimmy's is incredible! I was stopping through Austin on a roadtrip and the shop was recommended to me by a friend-- we had a piece of plastic from our undercarriage dragging, and the car's clearance was too low for us to fix it. I called ahead and Jimmy told me to bring it by right away. 10 minutes later, my car was fixed-- free of charge. Jimmy was friendly, attentive, and direct-- a stand-up guy with a bunch of stand-up employees. Would recommend to anyone!

Wow. What a great auto repair shop. They really helped me out. I attempted to change the sparks plugs in my Hyundai Accent (something I had done successfully before in the past). In this particular instance, I managed to break the ceramic top of one of the spark plugs and a few pieces drop into the cylinder head. Upon doing this I Googled and found out there would be 3 ways in which to fish out the pieces. One was to get a shop vac and attempt to suck out the pieces. Next, was to obtain a snake camera, locate the pieces, and attempt to remove them with some sort of angular pliers. The last was to remove the head gasket. The last was the most costly option. I was aware of these options prior to taking my car to Jimmy s Top Tech Auto Repair. Jimmy was aware of those options as well and explained each of them to me. He said he would try the first two before going onto the third (and most expensive option). And he did just that. It saved my hundreds of dollars. They definitely have my repeat business and I would recommend them highly to a friend. I dropped off my car around noon and it was ready later that same day.

Got sent here by Firestone to do a brake line replacement on my old honda that had rusted out. They replaced the brake lines for $930 and it took 3 weeks. Including $100 to tow the car four blocks. Ouch. However, They were friendly and professional and always answered my calls and stayed upfront. They changed the brake lines properly and didn't attempt to up sell me anything. However, they did not actually diagnose all of the issues with my brake system, because a week after, my calipers started spurting brake fluid, wouldn't stop the car, and then finally seized up and my entire brake system needed to be replaced. Wouldve saved a lot of headache (and a potential deadly accident) if they had just replaced everything to begin with. I understand that they just repaired the most urgent issue and didn't want to hit me with a $1000+ bill for a car worth about 2k. But I still give them 3 stars.

My little Toyota truck has been visiting Jimmy's since 2002 when I moved to the neighborhood. I'm so glad to have a reliable mechanic who offers good information about what's going on with my truck and who can fix what's wrong, generally within the same day. This week the transmission got glitchy and they found it would need a new cable, one they had only recently replaced. They did the work with no charge and when I picked it up Jimmy said he was working on getting a warranty from Toyota for the part. Which says to me that even though he had purchased the part and had not yet been reimbursed from Toyota, he was willing to give it to me for free. It was a fair deal. I wish other businesses were run with such respect for long-term customer relationships.

Over the past 40 years, I have placed my autos in the hands of half-a-dozen mechanics, including those at dealerships and single operators. Eight years ago I found Jimmy s TopTech at South First near Oltorf, and I ll never change mechanics again. Jimmy s does all my inspections and tune-ups quickly and reliably and when I have a serious problem with my 1999 Jetta, Jimmy s responds with speedy, accurate diagnosis, clear prognosis, and reliable estimates, followed by on-time delivery of a problem-free vehicle. Perhaps the latter is what impresses me most as compared with other shops I have patronized if Jimmy says he ll have your car ready by 5 PM, it will be ready before 5. All makes and ages of autos are receiving Jimmy s expert care, but what he has done with my 20-year-old car is most miraculous. In 2020 I have had an inspection, a tune-up, a clutch repair, and a timing-belt replacement, and the old girl runs like a dream. Robert

Very reasonable / straightforward Family-business. Doing multiple cars in our family for the last 10 years. Convenient / no-frills location, with easy street access for ride-shares / foot traffic. Your classic 'neighborhood store , yet equipped like 'the big guys'.Old school technicians. Usually the person repairing the car is the one at the "check out , giving you your doctors orders .

Jimmy fixed my car in 2 days! Unfortunately, it started acting funky (worse!) about an hour later. I had planned a week-long birthday bash out of town starting the next day, so I had to rent a car. When we returned, my husband took our car back to Jimmy. He found the new problem and his magic hands fixed it--FOR FREE! It's purring like a kitten now. We're Jimmy fans for life.
