My mechanic in South Austin closed their doors so I was forced to find a new one. Fortunately for me my girlfriend and her mom suggested Hackney Auto Truck & Fleet. I've been taking my 2007 Volvo S60 there for the past several years and love it! 225K miles and no check engine light on. That says a lot. You can expect a professional service at a great price with great communication throughout your expirience. If you're looking for a mechanic shop you can trust this is it. Hackney is possibly the best in town.I have two Toyota s, a 2004 V8 4runner and 2015 Prius and I m a picky kinda customer. I don t expect perfection but I do expect good service, quality work and fair prices. Hackney Auto meets my needs and then some.Pro Tips - be sure to tell your mechanic everything about your vehicle. Don t hold it back if you worked on it yourself and messed it up. They ll find out either way but if you tell them upfront you re going to save them time and you re going to save yourself money potentially. Also, for older vehicles in particular don t expect everything to be perfect. My 4runner has nearly 200,000 miles on it and is still running strong but it definitely is showing signs of age.What I like about working with Hackney is that I feel I have a shop that I can work with long-term. We go over all the things I need to be done to the vehicle and anything I can do on my own I will but any of the big jobs a save for them.Overall my experience in Hackney has been fantastic and I sincerely appreciate their consistent quality even during the pandemic.

I took my car there for an oil change and an inspection. it did take two calls to get my appointment because the first time they told me someone would call me to schedule and they never did. after my second call I was able to make an appointment. I explained to them that I have recently paid off my car and I wanted an estimate for services in the future that I might be able to have performed in order to keep my car running for the next few years. when I came to pick up my car, the person working the front desk said that the technician had written down a few things I could do and that they would email me an estimate soon. I gave it a few days and then I emailed them to check up on the estimate. The email listed on their website was incorrect but I was able to find an alternate email that I sent my request to. I got no response to the email, so after several more days I called and left a voicemail asking for the estimate. nobody called me back, so I called again and left another voicemail which also got no response. so despite really wanting to give them a significant amount of money, calling, emailing, and being there in person, I cannot get a call back. I regret this because I have had good experiences there and I have had a friend recommend them to me as being trustworthy. so three stars because they did do my inspection and change the oil, and I was really happy with the service that day. it just sucks that now I have to take the car to another place to have it looked at even though it's already been looked at.

This company has successfully repaired several vehicles for me over the years, and always provided professional, reasonably priced service. Also, the owner takes good care of the staff, with masks and shields during COVID, and early hours during the Austin 100+ degree heat wave. I highly recommend Hackney.

It was a great experience EVEN with the numerous hurdles we encountered with my truck. They kept me updated the entire time , did everything they could, and there were no surprises. I just wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to Hackney Auto. They are a wonderful company. All in the office are professional, knowledgeable, and very courteous! They go out of their way to ensure their customers get the best service at a reasonable price. I have used them for a couple of years and recently had to take it in for loud road noise and tire balancing. I had taken it to the place I purchased my tires for tire balancing but then noticed my steering wheel would vibrate when I got to 65 miles an hour. I had wheelbearing and front axle issues and my car was way out of balance. They fixed it all and my car rides so smoothly now and without all the noise. Feels like a new car! A big shout out to Tommy in the office who assisted me. All in the office provide the same honest courteous service. Linda, the owner is always friendly and helpful and runs an excellent company. I highly recommend them for any auto needs!Service: General repairs & maintenance

A few weeks ago Hackney Auto did some work on my wife s car. This past weekend we took a trip to south Texas to visited friends and I drove her car. I could definitely feel the difference in the way the car drove compared to before the work was done. I've always heard good things about Hackney Automotive. I've actually been here a few times too and I always get good fair service. Sometimes it can actually be hard to get your car inspected. Today I called Hackney and they said, other than around lunch time, I could come right in. I did and I got my inspection quickly done. I'll be back here for sure.

I started using Hackney about 11 years ago to service my motorhome. They did such a good job, and always treated me fairly, so now I take both of my cars to them, too. Linda runs an honest business, and they stand behind their work. Their pricing is fair, too, so I never feel like I'm being jerked around or ripped off. I've recommended them to friends and they've been very satisfied also.I also really appreciate that they have maintained a strict mask requirement during this pandemic so I have been able to feel safe in their shop while waiting on y vehicle.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Oil change

I never thought I would write a review saying that I love an auto shop, but here we are. I took one car in to have struts replaced, a power steering pump and brake fluid pump resealed and fixed. Not only was the service great and everyone was a pleasure to work with, but I saved over $1,000 by using them instead of the other shop that evaluated the car.It's more than just price though. Every interaction I have had with them has shown me they are honest and work with integrity.I'll take everything to them from here on out as long as I'm in Austin. Recently moved to the area and ran into a few car problems. I feel fortunate that AAA towed my car here. Austin and the crew at Hackney are professional, communicative, knowledgeable, and, most important of all trustworthy. They went above and beyond with my most recent diagnostic and were thorough in every way. Not once did I feel like they were being dishonest or trying to sell me repairs I didn t need. As l live here I ll return to Hackney every time. AAA towed me to Hackney Auto. They said it would take a week to even look at my car. Had to get AAA to tow my car to another auto place down the street and they fixed my car in four hours.

I have used Hackney for over a decade (edit: 14 years) now, and even though I moved 40 minutes away, I make the drive to see them when I need big repairs. Edit: Well, they did it again. Awesome job with upfront and honest recommendations. I'm still almost an hour away from them, but I still make the drive when it's something more than an oil change. Best in Austin, hands down.

My wife and I have been bringing our 2 vehicles to Hackney for a little more than 3 years. What do we like? We like that they are honest, helpful, possess integrity (don't try to screw you out of money and give you good service at a reasonable price). If you think something is expensive.. or have questions as to what needs to be done.. they will explain it to you, just ask, without treating you like an idiot. We even bought a used vehicle from one of they technician's wives when it was for sale (you know that vehicle was maintained! and it was a single owner). I just can't recommend them enough.. let's keep these private businesses going in our neighborhood. Hackney is one of a kind and rarer to find with the passing of time.

Honest, excellent service. Brandon and Austin always take great care of me and keep me well informed on my repairs. They also offer reliable turn around times. Things come up, but I have never felt like they ever attempted to over promise completion times. They also offer me accurate repair estimates.

I went in for service. The owner Linda is a very nasty person. She kicked me out for not wearing a mask. I told her I had a medical condition she didn't care. She treated me like a dirty animal. I will be letting everyone I know that this business is not worth supporting. I went to another garage much more friendlier, and handled their business I will be giving my business to them from now on.Services: Electrical repair, Air & cabin filter replacement, Oil change

I have been a customer twice this month, and I can't imagine taking my car anywhere else for repairs. My dad has been using them for several years, but I'm a new customer. I have mainly worked with Austin, who takes the time to explain what is happening for this girl who knows nothing about cars. Everyone is friendly here. And the shop dog, Penny, loves belly rubs, so make sure you give her a few.

Had trailer work done. I'm always skeptical of auto work because it's hit or miss if you have found an honest shop. Well, I think I've finally found one!!! They were very friendly, seemed honest and upfront about everything. I was quoted work over the phone 3weeks before I scheduled the work and there were no surprises. In fact there were opportunities to unnecessarily replace parts but Hackney auto didn't do that. Honesty, friendliness, and a no-surprise service job has won me over. I'll be recommending this business going forward! Thank you Hackney Auto.

This review is long over due. This place has excellent service. They are TRUSTWORTHY and get the job done right without breaking the bank. In one instance, a part was delivered late to their shop, and they stayed late on a Friday just to get the car back to me in time for the weekend. I would go out of my way to recommend this shop to anyone in Austin.

Great friendly service. I've had two vehicles worked on by Hackney Auto and each time they have given me the best price possible along with some discounts along the way. They are honest and thorough. Their mechanics Nick and Tim are the best! I highly recommend them!

Excellent customer service. Did a great job repairing my car, offered recommendations on what they think may need attention in the near future without trying to force you to do it now like other mechanics. They also offer a 10% discount for first time customers.

The unanimous 5 star rating that led me to this shop is well deserved. There is no hard sell of unneeded services. Curt was very friendly and professional in arranging the replacement of my timing and serpentine belts. The final price was below the estimate. Jacob shuttled me back and forth to my home through heavy morning and evening rush hour traffic. Both spoke well of the owners and how they treat employees. This is a family place and will be my regular home for auto repair

Great service at a good price. Always treated right when I have been here to get work done. Even if its just an oil change they always seem to make sure everything is checked and let you know about whats needing to be done. Don't try to over sell you and only fix and recommend what needs to be done.

A local Ford dealership couldn't even look at my daughter's Mustang for 6 days. Hackney towed it to their place, diagnosed and fixed the issues within less that 24 hours at a very favorable price! Superior in every way, including customer service and updates! If you don't use these guys, you are making a mistake!!
