Great Automotive Shop/Service. Very Honest and Upfront. Got an air conditioned waiting room w/ a bathroom and Beverages including Coffee, soda's, and waterHave an Over Night Key Dropoff. And Many Experienced Technicians/Staff/Mechanics. Rob and Tim are Amazing at what they d in the Mechanic Bays. As well as the other Guy's. The Front Desk help is on top of getting You in and out in a timely manner. Marc, Daniel, and Keith are Top Notch at getting the right diagnosis, and getting You up and running down the road!!!Highly recommend.

Dave's Ultimate Automotive is THE BEST!My parking brake was not working, and this started up just in time for state inspection. I was anxious about it and felt very grateful when someone in one of my Facebook neighborhood groups asked about reputable brake repair places here in Austin. Dave's got enthusiastic reviews, so I decided to try this shop.They totally exceeded expectations. The front-line person who helped me, Mark, is a gem. So kind, so patient, so nice. Everyone in the front office jokes around, they have a good, mellow vibe, and they make you feel like everything is going to be fine.The repair was expensive--new brakes, essentially--but they were prompt, Mark kept me in the loop and was generous with explanations of things, and I got my car back with excellent new brakes. I also now have a trustworthy local shop where I feel comfortable and confident in their services.Thank you to everyone, from Mark and the friendly front-desk people to the mechanic who did such a great job on my car! (And yes, I did pass state inspection, no problems!)Highly recommend!

As a mobile massage therapist, it s really important for me to know basic car maintenance in case I m stranded somewhere, keeping clients waiting. I d hate to have to cancel on someone due to a dead battery or flat tire so I m super grateful for the recent event with Women of Austin at Dave's Ultimate Automotive.The owner, Brad, gave us a brief intro then paired us each with a technician who works at the shop nearest us. Duke from the S 1st location spent 90+ minutes answering questions and showing me how to jump my car and change a flat tire. He was really kind and knowledgeable and I'm relieved to have a place now to get my car serviced which had been stressing me out since my previous mechanics moved out of south Austin. Another cool thing about Dave's is that the business is not commission based so I feel good knowing they won't try to upcharge me on unnecessary services.

I ve taken multiple cars here for variety of services and service is always great, friendly and trustworthy. They are great at giving updates, too.Even though sometimes it may take about a week for me to be able to take my car in (because they are so busy), I d rather wait than take my car elsewhere.

I wasn t going to leave a review but I got two reminders to. The shop tried to charge me $650.00 to change my battery (and they also reminded me it was $350.00 for the diagnosis, since the battery was $300.00). If they try do to this to you, I recommend saving an easy $450.00 by getting AAA. AAA will drive to you, test your battery, bring you an additional battery, and change it for you, all for $200.00. Dave s even tried to argued with the AAA guy saying he had the wrong battery; and that I needed theirs. Thankfully AAA stood firm and said the more expensive battery was not necessary. Once the battery was changed, the mechanic told me the check engine light was now on and if I wanted them to look at the code, I d have to pay them more. I told them I would handle it and bring it back if needed. At this point they let me take my car and even though they did absolutely nothing for my vehicle and tried to over charge me, I was still forced to spend $70.00 for the diagnosis that was previous $350.00. After paying, the mechanic graciously informed me that he checked the code and something was wrong with the transmission. He said, that s the reason the check engine light had turned off. A few days later, and the check engine light has not clicked on again as they insinuated. 10/10 would recommend if you like getting over charged and purchasing items you don t need. I brought my Jeep to Dave s after being given major runaround (and had my property damaged) by another local garage. Keith Greer took care of me and worked, painstakingly for MONTHS to figure out what the problem was. He changed different parts multiple times, and finally found the issue! He basically found a needle in a haystack! He also gave me a loaner vehicle while they worked on it so I still had transportation. These guys are incredible. Prices are very fair work is thorough and they are committed to getting the job done no matter how long it takes. I will never take my cars anywhere else!

Dropped off my daughter s car-because y all were right down the street and great reviews. You took the car in did an 80 point inspection(very impressed), completed the maintenance and repair, before my daughter finished work(Dawson Elementary). I would recommend Dave s Automotive all day long. Mark and Dave were so nice and friendly - made this easy!!ThanksJohn Harrod

I cannot say how amazing Daniel and the whole team at Dave s are! Brought my poor, sad, and starterless car into Dave s yesterday morning and was able to pick it up that evening. I fully realize this was a unicorn car repair experience (SO INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL) and I will not be going anywhere else! Thank y all so much!

I made an appointment for a routine oil change and tire rotation. I also read on the website about the holiday deal where you check the car batteries. I wanted that done as well. I called and talked to someone on the phone to make the appointment. We discussed it the type of car I drive which is a jeep wrangler. I explained that my jeep has two batteries. One main battery and one auxiliary battery. He acted like he understood and knew exactly what I was talking about. He never hinted at the that he had no idea how to check the auxiliary battery or access it. I dropped my jeep off at 7:30am. I decided to leave it there and not wait on it. I waited until 3pm to call and check on it since I felt like it had been an unusually long amount of time to have these few things done. Someone answered and didn t know the status of my jeep and told me they d call me back. They never called me back. I decided to show up to pick up my jeep around 6:30pm and they were still working on it. It turns out they sat on my vehicle all day because they had no idea how to access the auxiliary battery. It took them almost 12 hours to just check the charge on it. The battery was dead like I had already explained to them and after taking all day to access the battery, they did not even have the battery to replace it. They actually believed I was going to leave my jeep over the weekend so they could replace the battery on Monday. After I told them no, it took me them another 1.5 hours to get my vehicle back to me.After the insanely long process of checking the battery I already explained to them was dead, they gave me a quote to replace it, and it was $200+ more than a quote I got at a jeep dealership.I checked out and we went outside to do a walk around of my jeep before I left. I was checking the receipt and I didn t see anything about a tire rotation. I asked if they did the tire rotation, and he said they completely forgot and told me to make another appointment. This was probably one of the more wild car services I ve ever experienced. Nothing made sense. I ended up walking out of there paying almost 200 for an oil change and for them to mess around with my jeep for 12+ hours when it should have been done by noon. I will not be going back there. This is what I get for trying to support local business. Good luck!Edit as of 12/9/2023:The manager at Dave s Automotive, Keith, went above and beyond to resolve my issue. He called and asked for me to reconsider letting them work on my vehicle. He helped me with getting it all scheduled and guaranteed me that he could have it done in an appropriate amount of time. I was able to stop by one afternoon and I was out of there right around two hours. It was a great experience and I really appreciate all the help I received. My vehicle is in perfect condition now and all is well. I wish this would have been my experience the first time, but I am glad everything is taken care of now. Thank you, Keith and Dave s Automotive. I appreciate all your help!

Mark even called the Kia dealership to check to see if I have part that might be under a recall without me asking. He carefully thought about what might be causing the problem with my car and was honest in his assessment that if we did X it may or may not help so we ended up doing the two higher likely things which did end up helping some of the problems quite a bit.

This is a wonderful place to bring your car. The staff are friendly, reliable and honest. My car is always finished in a timely manner and they often offer discounts. My go-to car shop for maintenance! Thank you, Dave's!

These guys were quick, beyond fair, and went above and beyond on helping me out with explanations and helping me out with some of the fixes I needed. My truck is running like a dream. Can't recommend them enough.

These guys are a bunch of clowns. They charged me $163 for diagnostics on a timing problem without being able to tell me anything and then tried to charge me another $650 for more diagnostics with no real insight about what the problem was. I picked up the car and had it towed 100 miles back home where I figured out the problem in 30 minutes without taking anything apart and with none of their expensive scanners. Either they knew what it was and were trying to bleed my wallet or they are just incompetent.Edit: After speaking with Keith, I'm going to change my review. He definitely seems to care about their reputation and doing what it takes to make their customers happy. 4 stars because I still had to tow my car nearly 100 miles, but at least I know they weren't trying to rip me off. Perhaps I'll give them another chance if I'm ever in the area and in a pinch again.

Everyone at Dave s ultimate auto was knowledgeable, very friendly, and fun to deal with. They didn t try to push extra services, but gave me lots of price point options. Very fast service too. I highly recommend this place!

Love the crew at Dave s automotive. When my car broke down on the side of the highway, the crew stayed after closing to wait for the tow truck to bring the car and I in and then waited to make sure I had a safe ride home. This is the best neighborhood shop in ATX.The care, professionalism, and service they provide is world class.I always walk in and it s like walking into a friends living room. These folks are the best! Brought my car here for an oil change and for a diagnostic for the check engine light. I called a week prior and they told me I had to make an appointment so I did. Brought my car back on time at 9am. Called for an update around 2:30 and they had not even looked at it as my ticket was next in line. Called back for the 2nd time around 4:45 (with still no updates) and they said the technician just started looking at it and I stated I d be there around 5:30 to pick it up .instead they just decided to pull my car out of the technician lot. What s the point of making an appointment if there s no sense of priority and have my car sit around all day? Anyways .went to go pick it up and they handed me my keys without any explanation. I went to go drive my car out and it was unlocked. Very unprofessional.

Dave's is the best! I've been to a few repair shops around Austin and no one was able to get my Chevy Equinox fixed up like this one. I had to have my car towed here by AAA and the guys were respectful, communicative, and transparent. My mechanic (Keith) was the nicest and made sure that my issues were resolved promptly. When I picked up the car, the guys at the front were hilarious and made sure to walk me through everything before I swiped my card. Highly recommend!!

They always do an amazing job. I'm so happy to have found this shop. What I like the most is that they are respectful of your time and very clear about the work to be done. Update on my previous four star review! It seems this business has gone downhill!I usually get an oil change & takes 1-2 hours. BUT TODAY 4 hours later with a 9am appointment previously made my car had not even been looked at! At 1:00 I had to ask if they forgot about me! Ridiculous ,Now there is permanent grease and dirt all over my car mat! & seat! & They never even addressed one of my issues with tire pressure! I had to call back !The last oil change 6 mos ago took 3 hrs & They never fastened my spare tire cover correctly after chemotherapy pressure so the Toyota cover blew off and was lost 300$ if I could even find one to match. !! I did get a dome lightbulb !Not sure if I can recommend this place anymore!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto maintenance, Oil change

I have used Dave s Automotive twice now in the past 6 months and both times I received outstanding customer service and quality work at a fair price. As a woman who who knows nothing about cars, I m very cautious of who I take my car to when it needs service or maintenance. The staff at Dave s greeted me with big smiles, friendly conversation and treated me with respect the moment I walked through their door. I knew I found the right place when I saw 2 other ladies waiting on their cars as I was. I can t recommend Dave s Automotive enough!
