Brought my car in for a repair. I initially suspected a problem with my clutch, but it turned out to be the brakes. They were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the process. James and his team diagnosed the issue quickly, communicated with me at each step, and repaired my car the very same day, all for a very fair price. They have more than earned my business, and I'll be back.

This was probably the best car maintenance experience I ve ever had. Drove up with a dying car battery. Manager stepped out and helped me immediately. Had a new battery delivered in 20 minutes and installed it himself. Nice guy. Didn t overcharge me or add any kind of fees. Offered coffee while I waited. I was out in 30 minutes. Appreciated the customer service.Service: BatteryService: Battery

Came in from insurance since I had a bad engine they replace it, and gave me one as bad as the one that got replace the engine only lasted 19,000 miles luckily it was still under warranty from them and replace it. The engine they get as not great quality and have high miles and as bad shape.

5-star service at AAMCO. James and his associates were personable, professional and highly knowledgeable. Responded quickly and kept me updated. Left the shop feeling confident, aware of repair options, satisfied my auto was in the best hands available in the Austin metro area.Part 2:An update from my next AAMCO service : The when and where for your car's next visit. When your auto needs repair or you've been visited by that "Check Engine"light, James and his assistants at their 5-star service, AAMCO of Austin, is the visit your car needs. Why? Let me give you an example. Returning home one recent evening, while pulling into the garage, I was visited by that dreaded "Check Engine"light. It was the end of the day, but I made it to AAMCO at closing time. The next day I was scheduled for a doctor's appointment early afternoon, a serious appointment I could not afford to miss. James had me leave my car overnight so he could analyze cause and repair,ensuring me I would not miss the appointment. Now, what kind of person would do this so quick and fast especially when he has other cars in need? Only an owner, experienced and professional with the skills and associates prepared for any and all emergencies and more concerned for his customer's needs than his profits. He called the next morning and I arrived at appointment ahead of time. So, when the need or that dreaded "Check Engine"light flashes, get to AAMCO of Austin and become a member of James's AAMCO of Austin family for relief of all concerns and worries

I had a wonderful experience (or as great of an experience as one could have at a repair shop). The dealer quoted me $500 for front and rear differential fluid change and I knew that was overly expensive. I called around to several shops and while other prices were lower, the shops seemed unsure about changing my differential fluid even though it was listed on their websites.Upon calling AAMCO on South Lamar, James greeted me warmly and was patient while pulling up a quote. He had availability the next day and said he would be able to fit me in and it would be done before the end of the day. I dropped my vehicle off at 11 pm and picked it up at 5:30. The price wasn t far off from what he quoted me (it was a little less than half of what the dealer quoted me). I was extremely happy with the overall experience and if I ever have any transmission issues, I ll be sure to bring my vehicle back to AAMCO.Service: Transmission

My transmission stopped functioning in mid intersection in south Austin, about 30 minutes from my home. We couldn't even push the van out of the way, it wouldn't move. We went to Aamco on South Lamar, explained the situation and James walked to my van with us to check it out, in July, about 100 degrees. He was able to manually shift it into drive under the hood, drove it to his shop and repaired it. The shift cable and bushings needed to be replaced, but not the transmission. Of all the possible outcomes running through my head when this happened, this was better than I imagined. We didn't have to have it towed, no one tried to sell us a new transmission when it wasn't required. I highly recommend this business! Thank you James!

I ve been taking my Jeep to this AAMCO for about a year now. James (manager) always gets me in and out quickly for a fair price. Their fixes work and last and I never get an invoice full of unnecessary suggestions. I absolutely recommend this shop thanks for the help guys!

The customer service I received there was excellent. They were friendly and I felt very welcomed. AAMCO was able to diagnose precisely what was wrong with my car. They were able to get my car fixed within days. The prices to get my vehicle fixed were very reasonable. It didn't break me. I really enjoyed their customer service and I had a great experience with their service in getting my car fixed. My car now runs a lot better thanks to AAMCO.Service: Engine repair

Brought my overheating car in with no appointment, plus had a recurring issue other places hadn t been able to adequately repair. They listened to my concerns, were upfront about pricing, explained the issue clearly, were super friendly and courteous, and got it fixed faster than i ve ever seen anywhere take care of it with no appointment, and this has been giving me trouble for years. The shop completed my repair in a timely manner considering my problem was the transmission; ordering the parts and labor was done within 4 days. The guys were nice and fixed my car quickly but when I picked up my car, it had been driven around and it looks like they picked up food in it. There were unwrapped plastic utensils on the floor of my passenger seat and the mileage went up significantly. Very unprofessional.

James saved my weekend!After calling auto shops all across austin AAMCO was the only shop willing to do a diagnostic for me on a Saturday. They were able to diagnose my engine issues, give me a plan for how to resolve the issue and even educated me along the way!

I was working with James on getting my car repaired. Do to a high demand of the part, it wouldn t get deliver in a timely manner. James worked with his management and was able to get me a full refund. Very responsive and professional. Definitely I will go back for other car needs.

My Ford Focus died last week and I went through a week of my vehicle randomly starting and stoping. Diagnosing the problem was difficult because the problem was intermittent, but James from aamco at this location was so patient with me and my vehicle, figured out what was wrong and how to fix it, was transparent with pricing and consistent with communication, and even stayed late at the shop the evening I was able to come pick up my car. Great service, and so relieved to have my car fixed. Thanks guys!

I posted a positive review earlier but read 1 or 2 negative reviews that baffled me as my experience and most others were truly great.For what it's worth, realize ALOT of shops compete in Austin and I would NOT put it past competitors to post fake, bad reviews.Know too that most people DON'T maintain their cars then blame the last technician for issues, when it's THEIR OWN fault for ignoring check engine lights and NOT maintaining it.

PHILIP AND HIS CREW ARE AWESOME!!!! I took my car to 4 different shops before these guys properly diagnosed it as the transmission being done. I shopped around and AAMCO was not only the fastest but also a fraction of the price. Even though it was way more affordable than others I still couldn't do it because of a tight budget. Philip was not having it! He went above and beyond to help me out. This was big because I use my car for work. I was communicated with about every step and my car was ready a day early. I highly recommend Philip and the great team at AAMCO!

This place is great! I moved nearby and needed to get some things looked at in my car. After reading other�reviews,�I decided to give them a try since it would be super convenient. Since�I know nothing about cars (a mechanics dream customer), I had to place a ton of trust in what I was being told and could only hope I wasn't being ripped off.�I'm glad I did and won't hesitate next time. I had an unfortunate minor accident and did not realize the damage until after they did a thorough inspection of my car, which they did. Once I was educated about the extensive repairs that were needed, Phillip also made sure that I could afford to have it done. Within a couple of days, they had her back up and running and just like new! They are a bustling place (that alone should tell you that they are good), so you may need to wait a little longer than your typical mechanic, but I assure you that they make sure everything is done correctly and not just rushing to get you out. Phillip, in particular, is accommodating, and from the little I saw that man deserves a raise! Thank you, AAMCO!

My boyfriend and I are having issues with our Jeep's odometer and stopped in here to get it checked out today. We explained the issue (the odometer randomly reads out at 99999999, which is NOT the mileage on the car, and then after driving it around for a little while, it actually reads out the correct mileage). The guy we spoke to at the desk had never heard of that issue before but quickly made some inquiries for us and figured out that it is actually a software error and that Jeep had put out a service bulletin about this exact problem and noting that 2018 Jeeps need a software update to fix the issue. He admitted that they couldn't really help us because we will need to take it directly to Jeep for the to install the software update, but he was so helpful in helping us figure out the issue and he even printed out a summary of the problem so we could explain it to Jeep easily and not get taken advantage of at the dealership. He was so nice and I really wanted to leave them a review and just tell everyone they go above and beyond to help customers even when they know they won't be getting paid for services. That said, if we ever have any future issues with our car, we plan to go here. Really good people running this place!!! Thanks for all your help.

I just moved to Austin so finding a new mechanic is always daunting but I was so fortunate to come across Philip at AAMCO! Him and Jon were so very helpful in getting my brake light fixed quickly and all while being so polite and professional. I really felt comfortable with them and though I know it was just a small fix, I feel confident they will be able to help me with all my car maintenance needs from now on! Thank you guys!
