I think this mechanic shop may be good for things like oil and tire changes.The last two times I took my car to this auto shop for repairs because of engine check light, after I was called that the car was fixed and paid much for the repairs, I barely drove 5mins and had the check lights on again both times.When I called about the issue, the mechanic that picked the call said that there could be a million reason the light came back on, that just sound ridiculous, considering I just paid for repairs to get the check engine light fixed. I went there the second time for check light just to confirm the first was not a concidence, but still same issue, check light came back on after leaving the shop.I gave two stars because they seen to work promptly, but not quality!

My radiator was toast so I came in here cause it was close to my place and could handle a refill with water before me stopping again.Diagnostic fee was $135. I did need to replace the radiator for an old Honda Civic so it ended up being $1000 total. They did have time to do it and I could pick it up the next day (I was in a hurry to drive out of town that weekend so that was appreciated).Called another shop, Buddha's Garage and they didn't need a diagnostic run, and total would have come out to ~$700 total. However, they were booked for a few days.I'd definitely come back here and pay the premium for time but I'd try Buddha's first if you have time. They were great on the phone and super helpful about what part I needed before I even walked in the door.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I love these guys!!!As a new Austinite, I came here to get my vehicle inspected so I could get a Texas license plate. I chose 766 simply because they were (1) close and (2) open to walk-ins. I was pleasantly surprised by how helpful and polite they were, how quickly they did the work, and how little they charged.Just days later, my daughter asked me to get her car inspected. Naturally, I went to 766. Once again, the process was quick, easy, and inexpensive.Finally, I took my daughter's other car in for an oil change and an inspection. The car failed the inspection, but they explained very clearly why it failed and how to fix the problem. The battery had died recently, which zeroed out the sensors; it has to be driven 150-250 miles, then taken in again. And they said they'll do the reinspection for free. Yet again, the service was outstanding, the wait was short, and the price was right.

Super fast service for last minute needs like state inspections same day. I always bring my car here for routine maintenance or an around the horn check before long road trips.

Had some bolts back out of my caliper mounting bracket, but sounded like something much more serious as I limped in my truck.. the guys took care of it quickly and at a fair price.. five star all the way, and not to forget the only place around to get the real deal mobile 1 oil changes.. I had them take care of that too.. thanks Johnny-v

Danny and team are always polite, respectful, and amazing at diagnostic work and repair. I have taken my car into them a handful of times for everything from having an issue with my AC not working, needing a standard oil change, and getting a chunk of metal taken out of my tire. They are quick and professional, and I appreciate the time Danny takes to explain things to me in a way that I understand without feeling talked down to. As a woman I truly appreciate the way Danny and team make me feel safe and respected. I'd give more stars if possible. I'm just passing through Austin and was reluctant to get an oil change somewhere I'd never been, but the team here killed it. Super quick, friendly staff, and Danny helped find where a slow leak was happening in one of my tires. Another one of the mechanics even took the time to vacuum my driver floorboard while they were wrapping up the service. 10/10 would recommend, and if I'm ever in the Austin area again this will be my spot. Johnny is the man! Always good fair prices, they never try to fix things that aren't broken or over sell me parts I don't need! They fix what is broken the first time right and warranty there work 5 star shop! Drop in ask for Johnny and you won't be disappointed.

Overpriced, details overlooked. Not impressed with the shop unfortunately. Was quoted $2500 for a timing belt change when other shops would do it for $1300. Overcharged on little things like filter installation and tire rotation. You re better off going to the chains for your maintenance and then smaller shops for your big stuff.

10/10 highly recommend. I brought my 2010 Honda Fit in for a slew of repairs. My car is an old lady,and by the time it left it was running the best it has I'm years. No more crazy sounds or shakes. New tires, inspection check passed, rear view mirror fixed, air filter replaced , transmission fluid flushed and replaced ,and belt tensioner replaced. Very affordable and had it all completed in a day and a half. Vso thankful for 766 Auto and their great mechanics!!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle safety inspection

I arrived around 9:45 on a Monday morning. I had a small issue that hopefully wouldn't take too long to repair. I was greeted and asked what they could help me with today. I told them what my issue was, and the guy I spoke with took a quick look. He went to go get a second guy who is more knowledgeable about this type of issue. They worked together as a team to get the repair done, and me on my way. Very professional and very courteous. I highly recommend this auto body shop anytime you need work done on your car!

I've been trying to find a good mechanic for a while and the folks at 766 Auto are the real deal. Robert at the front desk was very polite and honest with the work my car needed. They are accommodating, do not try to upsell, but give it to you straight. Best auto mechanic in Austin! I trust these guys to do a great job and not try and swindle me out of money. They are honest and quick! I have been going to them for a couple of years now and they do the best work on my car. Also, prices are super reasonable. They don't do that thing where they bring you around back and try to con you into doing more work than your car actually needs. They do the job, do it well, and send you on your way. They are truly the ideal mechanic shop.

Avoid!Staff is very friendly, but that s unfortunately the only positive thing I can say. I brought my car in for an oil change, coolant flush, and to get a rear noise inspected. After inspection, their recommendation was to replace all shocks/struts because of fluid leaks. This simple job should have been one repair job - I took it back 3 additional times! I had to bring my car to another shop to find that they improperly mounted two, something 766 didn t identify on my second trip back. I should also note that the coolant flush was never taken care of. I would not trust their service and was overly frustrated by their lack of communication and misguided timelines.

I would recommend them to all my friends and family! I was luckily referred to them when I first got to Austin and I've had around 6 repairs by them. Every time they have updated me promptly on the status and have accurately diagnosed and fixed the problems. They also went above and beyond by double checking over my vehicle before I went on a road trip, and replacing and light for me. Their prices are beyond fair and they genuinely care about your experience with them. Very great experience all around!

Trust these guys - Excellent work! They ve been working on my car for 4-5 years, always give me various options, never try to upsell or lie to me. Fix everything in a timely manner. Highly recommend!

Had issues starting my truck and thought it might be the battery. I didn t have an appointment but figured I would try my luck. Within 2 minutes of showing up someone approached me to ask how they could help. They offer free battery testing and verified it was a bad battery. They had the replacement on site and had a tech out within another 5 minutes replacing my battery. Overall extremely friendly, helpful, and great service. I will be back!Service: Battery

My experience with this place was the best I ve ever had at an auto shop! Went in for an oil change and state inspection. The guys there made the whole process so easy for me. Not once did I feel uncomfortable nor did they try to trick me into getting something done on the car that isnt needed. (Which happens a lot at these places when you re a girl) I was in and out of there in 30-45 min and the prices were the best I ve ever experienced without some kind of coupon or special. I plan on never going anywhere else in Austin for the rest of my life with vehicles.

Being a girl going into an automotive shop can be scary. I always feel like I have to take my dad with me because of the fear of getting ripped off. So here is what happened.I got an inspection and Jiffy Lube failed me because my parking brake wasn't working the way it should. They didn't work on this but they recommended Youniversal for repairs. Another friend also had recommended them so I gave them a shot.They got it fixed within the same day of dropping it off, and took care of my alignment while it was there. They had justification for why certain repairs were needed now and which ones I could put off. I totally felt the vibe of honesty. Paying for repairs sucks, but not as bad as paying for stuff I didn't need. I trust them wholeheartedly. I will be back for sure, just hopefully not too soon

Robert and John are the best!!!! They are so friendly, honest and very professional. Anytime I have an issue with my car I go and see them because I value their ethics, honesty and their professional knowledge. These guys know what they are talking about and they value their customers! I'm always pleased with my service and would recommend them to anyone who is in-need of an honest, hard working and ethical auto shop. usually getting an oil change on weekday rush hour is a nightmare, but these guys got me in an out in 30 minutes, and were super nice. reasonably priced as well. will be back !!

Very honest mechanics. Called me and told me of a slight rip in my Jeep soft top that they were installing for me and offered to fix it. Most mechanics would've said nothing because it was a tiny rip that was barely noticeable. Not Robert and Jonnie. Taken a few cars there for oil changes, always fast and good price. Highly recommended.

Solid shop with honest professionals working on your vehicle! I recently took my old Silverado here (after having a bad experience someplace else) to get my exhaust manifold gasket replaced. Had it in that morning and was ready that afternoon. Even called me to discuss possible other needs but NEVER pressured me into anything additional, just wanted to make sure I was informed. This place really makes you feel like your getting an honest opinion about your vehicles needs without getting ripped off. After my longtime mechanic recently closed his shop, Youniversal is now my go to place for my trucks needs!

Fast, efficient & friendly! These guys are quick & legit, so if you're looking for a trustworthy mechanic, this is your spot. They greet you right away, whether it be one of the mechanics, the cashier or even the owner, like I experienced, they're really on top of their game. I've had this experience the past FEW times I've gone so that is also pretty great to know is that they are consistent w/their customer service & quality of work.
