I am an over the road hauler, and I was having some problems with my transmission in my F-350. The owner and his transmission expert were great. I explained what was happening, and the expert took my truck for a 45-minute test drive.Of course, my truck decided not to have any problems when he drove it. Regardless, they were great understanding people who exemplify the kind of people I've come to expect from the great state of Texas.Furthermore, it is refreshing to find an honest auto repair shop. They do themselves and their industry credit.Oh, and what was the charge for nearly an hour's worth of diagnostic time? $0.

Driving across country while moving, my truck loses all gears about 10 mi north of Amarillo in the evening time. I get it towed to a nearby transmission shop. Next day transmission shop advises they are too slammed to work on it. I call around amd find Utah, Ricky and the team at J Automotive. They too were busy but understood my plight. I get it towed to their shop and within 30min, they are taking the transmission out. They order a part from out of state. By the next day, they put everything back together and get me back on the road. These guys are extrmely knowledgeable and likely found why i had gone through so many transmissions over last few years. 60+yrs expereince makes a difference. Thank you very much!Service: Transmission

Traveling across country from New York to California, I found myself with a possible transmission problem. I d got me in first thing in the morning before hitting the road again just to make sure everything was okay. He checked over my vehicle, topped off all of my fluids, and gave me the comfort of knowing I could keep driving. 10/10 would recommend!

Received extremely professional service. They were busy and backed up but were nice enough to give me a realist timeframe which was still pretty reasonable. Fixed my Tundra Truck in a very cost effective manner and very nice people to deal with. Highly recommendService: Auto engine diagnosticService: Auto engine diagnostic

My transmission failed to go into any gear. I was on a 4 week road trip pulling my camper and had my dog Axel. The shop is in Amerillo Texas, and I live in Connecticut. I am not just from very far away, but he had a full schedule of work. He managed to not just rebuild the transmission in a matter of days, but also added all the modifications / updates that had come out since I had bought the truck 8 years ago. The owner and mechanics are very professional, friendly and surely take pride in their work. This is the shop you should take your vehicle if you can get it there, or you are in my opinion making a huge mistake. I am 63, and have dealt with a lot of repair shops, and this one is as good as you can find. Not just because it was done fast because of how far away from home I was, but they really care about their workKen McDonald2012 GMC Sierra 1500 with 120,000 milesI can't say thank you enough for the speedy repairs, as it saved me a lot of down time among other thingsService: Transmission

Sent my older GMC to get my transmission rebuilt. So far so good, only complaint I have is they said it comes with a two year warranty. But nothing on any of the paperwork they gave me stating the warranty.I will update this review in two years or unless the transmission fails before that.

Highly recommended. We were traveling through the area and had a transmission issue that left us in limp mode. J's Garage quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered parts, and fit us into their schedule to help us get home for Christmas.

Man, these guys are the real deal!! My brother and I were on our way from Alabama/ Mississippi to Colorado for our annual hunting trip. Made it to just west of Pampa, TX when my brother's truck started having serious transmission issues. We limped on in to Dumas, TX that evening at 45 mph and got a hotel for the night. The next morning we tried to diagnose and possibly fix the issue to no avail. Began calling around to find someone who could work us in on short notice. Every place said they were anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks out. A couple of places recommended that we call J's. We called 'em and they pretty much diagnosed the issue to a "T" over the phone (3rd and 4th clutches were smoked). Told us if we could get the truck to them in Amarillo they could get started on it that day.We made it there by noon and they had the truck on the lift by 1:00 pm. By 4:45 pm THAT SAME DAY! we were back on the road with a new (rebuilt) transmission!!! The bill was easily comparable, maybe even less, than what it would have cost to have the same work done at a shop back home. Thanks to these guys we went from thinking that our trip was over to experiencing nothing more than a hiccup.A+++ to J's Garage and Transmissions

Imagine this, single mom driving cross country with her son and towing a uhaul. Transmission too hot light comes on in the middle of Texas. We called J s transmission and they agreed to see us and spent time analyzing the transmission, took it for a drive and got us what we needed. Utah was a life saver. Highly highly recommendService: TransmissionService: Transmission

They did very good work! The transmission work could have been very expensive, but they were able to repair without having to get a new $600.00 part.Highly recommended.

This place over charge for parts and labor. I needed a pressure switch replaced on my compressor. They charge me $90 for the part and waste labor it came out to $215. They didn t give me an estimate they just went ahead and did the job. When asked if I could go find a part for cheaper and have them put it in next time they told me they would charge me extra for labor.

You will not meet nicer people then Rick and his wife. J's Garage and Transmission was his father's and has been in business for decades. His dad was a huge wrestling fan, you can see that by the pictures on the wall. But one thing that J's Garage has built a strong, solid, and respected reputation in is their talent with transmissions. Many are have known to call them the best. So I would highly recommend them to anyone having transmission problems. They do all mechanic work as well. J's is a name you can trust

OCT 2020 - Brought in my suv with a transmission issue. The transmission expert determined my vehicle isn't serviceable at J's Garage & Transmissions. His service recommendation was seek repair at a Land Rover dealership and AARDVARK Automotive. J's lacks foreign car transmission expertise. Polite staff. Reviewer: Age 65, Veteran, Christian.

These guys will treat you right! I have recommended this place to people for years and have yet to get bad feedback. They can also do regular repair work, on most vehicles.
