We have stayed at the Townsend Gateway Inn several times now. We love staying on the peaceful side of the Smokies and we love everything about this motel. The rooms are super clean with comfortable beds. It s nice to have actual coffee mugs for our morning coffee and we love the rocking chairs right outside our room. The snack bag with a beautiful thank you card is such a nice gift. We stayed for three nights this past week for a very reasonable price. We will be back!Nearby activities: We like the proximity to the park and our favorite place, Cades Cove.

Townsend really is the peaceful side of the Smokies. It is a stark contrast from Gatlinburg and especially Kitschville, I mean Pigeon Forge. The Gateway Inn is set back from a well traveled road but you are more likely to hear your neighbors in the next room than the vehicles on the road. You get plenty of space in the room and all the relevant amenities like a mini-fridge, microwave and places to set your stuff. A nice touch is the goodie bag they give you at check-in. I would definitely stay here again.

After leaving Florida a day early for a business trip to Knoxville, we had stopped off in Townsend to find lodging for the evening. We had been on the road and awake for well over 24hrs and were extremely exhausted and was hoping to check in early. Keep in mind we just showed up without a reservation and were winging our day early trip knowing that it is leaf peeper season. The girl at the front desk immediately got on the phone to one of the owners and was able to pull it off for us! We were told to come back in a couple of hours and the room would be ready for us. We returned a half hour earlier then expected to and were greeted by one of the owners. The room was ready, the staff is so polite and the rooms are fantastic! Thanks for the exemplary service and room you provided for us at a moments notice!

Staying seven nights at the Townsend Gateway Inn as part of an art event, and I am very impressed with the place. Super-clean rooms, excellent, hot shower; it s not lavish, but it totally delivers. The daily housekeeping service beats that of what the likes of Hampton Inn, etc. provides. Highly recommend.

I had a better night sleeping in my car than here. The beds were so stiff my back was sore in the morning. The whole room was filled with broken and scuff marks. The bathroom made me feel nasty even after showering. The room had three TVs but two remotes. I tried the two remotes on every TV but neither one would turn on the third TV. When we first showed up the TV in the main room was on and playing MMA fights. This place is not at all worth the money to stay here. The room came with its own bugs; there are literally dead flies on the wall when I first entered the room. The parking lot is so tiny that trying to maneuver your car is near impossible. The best part is that only a select few rooms have been updated the rest are like grandma's house who never cleans. What's even better is that even if you lock the dead bolt in your room, if anyone has a copy of the key they can unlock the door completely and get in. On top of everything, when we called to bring some of these things up the guy working the front was rude through the whole call and acted like we were the cause of all pain in his life. Never staying here again.

Really nice place to stay, on the main road, and views of the mountains. Cabins updated and has a kitchen. I like the wood features and tile in the kitchen and bathroom. They welcome you with a welcome packet of snacks. I would have thought there would be some paper towels or napkins included with the kitchen. Housekeeping should check the freezer. We had a bottle of frozen Dr Pepper, not ours. Don't know how long it had been in there. We thru it away. Clean, quiet and close to restaurants. Also, they have regular rooms. This is where where we like to stay. You won't be disappointed.

Competitive pricing, sweet effort at modernizing room furnishings, loved the shower and bath amenities. However, the air conditioners are above the bathroom sink, loud and have to be taken off energy saver individually to get any piece of mind, also the pillows are not comfortable at all. But being in Townsend and otherwise we would stay again.

Best and sweetest management hotel was super clean they had even turned on ac so it was perfect temp. As we checked in they gave us a goody bag which we had never experienced anywhere else. Sat in rocker and listen to dam water following across street. You were able to walk over to it was very peaceful and beautiful. The grounds to hotel was super clean and peaceful. Had fire pit corn hole and just was such an excellent experience.

I come to Townsend a few times per year and every time I choose Townsend Gateway Inn! I love that they give a welcome bag of snacks and thank you card upon checking in. Discount for returning guest too. Every room I have stayed in is clean and updated and the beds are soooo comfortable! They have a pool, corn hole and two separate fire pits. They even supply the wood and kindling! It s extremely convenient to grab my bike and explore the town. The owner and his doggie Spanky are always so welcoming. Thanks again for a wonderful and affordable stay! I ll see you again on my next visit

This is a hidden gem! I almost hate to write this review as I like to be able to stay here without competition, but here goes! Rooms are spacious, clean and very modern. While it look like an aged hotel on the outside, it s gorgeous inside! Staff are amazing and you even get a snack bag upon check in! Cannot recommend higher for Townsend! Great proximity to SMNP as well! Enjoy!

Very nicely appointed. The people are very caring about making you happy. We enjoyed our stay. They provide wood for a campfire and extras that many places would not provide or would charge for.

Room were somewhat updated, but werw not clean and the furniture was old, scratched/worn and the curtains, rugs and lamp shades were stained. Room was over priced for quality and condition. Landscaping and grounds were over grown. Only plus was the location.Rooms: See comments above. We would not stay here again.

We were checked in by the nicest lady and the goody bag with snacks we were given was a nice touch! We stayed in a pool side room which was clean, comfortable, with nice, cold A/C. The pool was clean and the grounds were very nice with swinging benches, firepits, and cornhole. The only issue we had was the shower temperature fluctuating probably due to other guests using the hot water but it wasn't a big deal. Overall a great stay!

Hotel on the quiet side of the Smokies. Attentive staff, great amenities. Especially liked the Welcome bag with treats. The room itself was comfortable. The surrounding offer a lot to do without all the bustle of the usual gateway entrances to the park.

This was our first time to stay here but will definitely NOT be our last. The office staff are so nice. The room was clean and comfortable. I especially liked the actual coffee mugs & glasses vs. paper or plastic. And receiving a "goody bag" upon arrival is just another personal touch this little jewel offers. It's also AMERICAN OWNED..Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We have been staying at the Townsend Gateway Inn for several years now and wish we had found it sooner! The staff is always polite and courteous, rooms are clean and tidy and the goodie bag they give you is an extra special bonus. I am always excited to see what goodies I get to munch on! Our favorite place to stay! Can't wait to see you again soon.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms. They have a pool and a fire pit area that we didn't get to visit but looked nice. We will be returning next year for the beer festival in February.Rooms: The rooms are very clean, updated, and well furnished.

We've stayed 2 times at this Inn. The location it great. The first time we stayed in a hotel room and it was nice, clean and modern. I was really impressed for the star rating. We now have a baby and wanted a place to stay where we didn't wake people up with a crying baby. We decided to give the cottages at Townsend Gateway Inn a try. Very unimpressed and downright disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottages. Our baby's feet and knees were black from crawling around on the floor. Of course our feet were black too. I had to do my own cleaning on the floors and anything that was lower that our baby would be in contact with. Sadly wee will not be staying at the Townsend Gateway Inn again.

I had a fantastic holiday getaway at Townsend Gateway inn. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and kind, and the area is beautiful. They even had a little Thanksgiving gift bag in my room.If you are looking for a little quiet getaway with great views and awesome driving roads look no further.Sadly I was only there a few nights so I could not experience everything the area has to offer, but I would happily go back again and again.Thank you Townsend Gataway Inn for a pleasant trip.

Very clean and very cute- gift bag of snacks when we checked in. Seemed like it was going to be a hit or miss place when we booked it and we didn't expect much- inside was very nice; much more modern than we expected, with obviously recent-ish updates to the room. Service was polite- our only issues were that you couldn't have a bathroom light on with no fan (we like leaving one on to sleep, so we don't bug each other fumbling around as we get up in the middle of the night) and that the phone didn't work when we tried to dial out to place a pick up order- the only employee working was busy with other check ins, so we decided not to wait for a new phone and just go looking for food on our own. Very nice, will definitely be making a note to stay there again in the future.
