The staff is great and the prices are more than fair. Very upfront with costs and procedures. Took me a while to find a shop that aligned Land Rovers, and they did the job perfectly.

Highly recommended. They are very knowledgeable and very professional. Will honestly answer any question you have for them. Also very upfront about any service they provide. If they find something that's needed while performing another service, they will make sure you approve that service before moving forward. Also, since all estimates are pre-approved, if they find something that will add more labor time, they will make sure that's is approved also before moving forward. Would probably give 4 1/2 stars. Never give 5 because all businesses need something to shoot for.

Let me start by saying that I read reviews and take them with a grain of salt because a good number of the reviews I read are attributable to "user error/user ignorance/user unattainable expectations" I ALWAYS strive to give reviews based on POSITIVE interactions with companies, but I cannot in clear conscience do that with Import Specialty.I dropped my Volvo off on Tuesday 3/6/2024 with a detailed explanation of the issue along with another maintenance item I wanted repaired. I was EXPLICIT and CLEAR with the understanding when I left, that I MUST HAVE MY CAR FINISHED BY FRIDAY (today 3/9/2024) because I do not live in Nashville and needed to get home 150 miles away when I returned from a work trip. This was clear in the conversations, this was understood by the owner and at NO TIME did the possibility of this not happening get discussed.I knew what my primary issue was and what else I wanted done to the car but I was told that they would do a full maintenance diagnostic for a fee and let me know what they discovered if anything in addition to the coolant leak.I received a link to the diagnostic and agreed to have the lower control arms on the front end done, the PCV system serviced (an item I wanted done) and the coolant leak repaired. I authorized those repairs and declined other minor issues and that was that.Let me start by saying my first red flag was when I sent a photo of what the factory PCV system kit included (strictly as an example) and then got a picture of what parts they were going to use... AN INCOMPLETE kit at 3x the amount the parts could be had ALL DAY LONG from NUMEROUS parts outlets including Volvo USA!I understand mark up, but I felt this was extreme. I didn't say anything and was going to chalk it up to experience for future reference because AGAIN my car was going to be ready on Friday.Fast forward... Wednesday comes and goes, Thursday comes and goes and Friday morning I finally get anxious and call the shop myself. I am told "Hey sorry, it's going to be sometime next week before we can get your car done Volvo sent the wrong hoses and they did not come in until end of the day yesterday"I explain the situation of needing to get home and I am told (and correctly) essentially, I have no control over parts being incorrectly shipped.I am in COMPLETE AGREEMENT with that statement! Here are my issues:1) Why am I CALLING THE SHOP FOR AN UPDATE the day the work is to be completed?!! Why did the shop NOT CALL ME, "end of the day yesterday" when the wrong hoses came in?2) I authorized THREE repairs ALL requiring parts. There was NEVER any mention of the other parts being ordered. In fact, Doug SPECIFICALLY STATED "so you don't want us to order your parts?" when I told him to just charge my card for the diagnostic fee and park my car outside the secured lot when he closed for the day.3) I was VERY CLEAR on my timeline and at no point in the initial conversation or subsequent messaging did the fact that the car would not be done on Friday come up.Do I blame Import specialty for the parts issue? NO!!!But I have to ask and wonder...Why was the other work done? in two whole prior days lower control arms could not be installed? The tear down of the engine for the PCV system replacement could not have been done while waiting for the hoses? IN FACT that needed to be done anyway to access the coolant hoses that needed replaced next to the turbo. Why were those parts not ordered? My gut belief? NO parts were ever ordered. The reason I theorize this is because if you ordered the hoses from Volvo you would have ordered the rest from Volvo. I honestly believe someone dropped the ball on the parts, the schedule and the expectation of the time frame.I have no idea how a seemingly positive initial contact with this company could have gone south, but I have to say, I was and I am (HOURS AFTER THE FACT) not only completely disappointed but incredibly pissed off!I will be back in Nashville in 11 hours and I can assure you that my car will be somewhere else for service!!

The staff are really pleasant but buyer beware. Took a Subaru here for rear wheel bearing replacement and checkup a few other issues. I was given a quote on labor that was three times the standard (according to a dealership and two other shops) in addition to a suggestion that instead of patching my wheel, to replace all four. With all the other suggested maintenance options it was over $4k. The diagnostic was over $300. Full Synthetic oil change was $90. I found another shop who fixed the wheel bearing for less than half their quote and patched the tire for free. Bonus, it's walking distance from my house. I wish I'd shopped around but I was wowed by some of the great reviews. I'm sure the mechanics are very good. You're going to pay at least double.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Vehicle Inspection, Oil change

After changing spark plugs and coils in my car, I still had a misfire so I took my car to these guys to diagnose the problem. They then told me that the spark plugs were incorrectly installed and broken, which was not true, and they changed out new coils instead of the broken coils they needed to replace and they charged me $1300 to do it all. I would think twice before you decide take your car to this place instead of going straight to the dealer. $1300 to replace new parts vs just going to the dealer. I ll let you do the mathService: Engine repair

I dropped my car off in the morning, and within a few hours I got a notification on what issues it was having. A day was well spent of them working on my car. The people there were nice and had me taken care of me quite quickly upon my arrival to pick-up my vehicle. I will continue going back to them as they have provided good services and are in a convenient location for me.Services: Engine repair, Vehicle safety inspection

To get to the root of another problem, they found that my radiator was cracked & needed replacing. After replacement, they were able to fully run ALL of the tests necessary & found that the issue originally stated by the dealership was not the problem at all, as it was indeed the radiator that the dealership clearly missed. Now, the customer service is 17 star! They were super nice knowledgeable and able to explain what was going on to where I could understand.Needless to say, they have a gained a new customer who was loyal to a dealership for 25 years.

I have known this shop and the owners, since it started. It filled a niche at a time when it was absolutely needed in the city. They have become the very best and reliable automotive experts in Nashville. I'll give this business five stars. My family has used them and I use them. I recommend them for everything. I'm all about getting it done right the first time.

I had some issues with my car post accident. I found these guys online a decided to go with them for the repairs. Listen, Ryder is an awesome gentleman! He has the greatest personality and he speaks and explains things with great detail and THAT is very important to me. The guys here checked into everything I had questions about, informed me of other issues they found, repaired what I approved of and I will DEFINITELY return to these guys to have some of the other minor issues they found resolved. A Big Thank You to Ryder and the team at Import Specialty Service!!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Import Specialty has been our go-to mechanic since at least 2010 and has keep our fleet of Volvos, a 94 BMW 318i and a Lexus LS430 running reliably. Their work has been excellent and when any problem has arisen, they have corrected it promptly. It has been my pleasure to recommend them to my friends.Service: TiresService: Tires

Import Specialty Service stands behind their work, and I appreciate that. We had some rocky moments (a couple of the men definitely need to work on speaking over women), but in the end they made it right. They remained professional and kind. When I wasn't satisfied that I was hearing squeaking days after paying $1,200 for new brakes & rotors, they replaced a set of brake pads that were not their own parts, which they didn't have to do, to make sure I was satisfied. I appreciated that and would recommend them. How a company handles a customer's frustration or dissatisfaction speaks volumes. And in the end they did the right thing. My car has been running great and I feel confident that it's in good shape for my relocation to another city.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Battery, Oil change

These are just good people! Brought my subaru in for engine problems, they had it fixed and back to me within 2 days. Incredible communication and honesty, they told me what the car needed and what they recommended without ever pushing me to buy something I didn't want. I couldn't tell you what was wrong with the car, but they did a great job explaining it to me. Mostly worked with Doug and he seems like a genuinely kind person. Very thankful!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Vehicle safety inspection

I have never been so cared for with consistency. I'm never mad etc feel incompetent, they have great software that details every item and pricing, I get to choose what I need or don't feel is necessary at the time of inspection. They've even hired me an uber when I was without my vehicle at no additional charge to me. I can not more highly recommend this company for everything you need mechanically.

Import Specialty Service recently took great care of my 2004 Land Rover Discovery II. I took it in for an oil change and they advised on a few other items that should be addressed. They were fair on pricing, but one of the jobs I could do on my own, so I added on only one of the items that they recommended. They got the vehicle repaired quickly and returned it to me within a few days at a very fair price. So glad to have them so close!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Oil change

Had the pleasure of working with Doug Bundy. Overall, couldn t have asked for a better experience! Very knowledgeable and courteous. Very honest and fair. After dealing with Land Rover s outrageous prices and fees and lack of communication, it was very refreshing to work with a company and employee that is totally transparent and honest. And so patient! Can t recommend more!Service: Battery

After getting over the initial shock of what the diagnostic testing results code revealed...I can tell you ISS was wonderful & patient to work with on my needed repair which was no small feat specifically Doug Bundy! He made sure I was kept abreast especially having to work with my extended warranty company and scoured their suppliers for the parts needed for the best price in specifications of the warranty Co & ISS best practice for parts suppliers used. This is/was so important being a female when many garages/repair shops take advantage of what you may mot know and if u aren't vaguely familiar it could be essentially to bad outcome. My car was repaired and I am ecstatic!! MScott (she/her). I will definitely recommend them if ever you are need of foreign or domestic car repairs!!Service: Engine repair
