My family and I traveled up here for a work conference in Nashville and my van was shaking violently at 60 mph and at slower speeds I could feel a wobble. I have a 700 mile trip home and I was extremely stressed out. Frank walked outside and identified the problem immediately and referred us to a tire shop not far away who specialize in tire sales/service. Thank you Frank for your help. The place you referred us to was able to get us a new tire and installed within the hour. They said the tire was faulty and air was forming in-between the rubber and the wire and it was about to pop at any second. If I had tried to drive home on that tire, my van could have wrecked on the interstates with my wife and kids inside. We just wanted to thank you so much for your quick response and for helping point us in the right direction. My family is safe because you took the time to help us.

I love Carl Wood s Garage the mechanics take the time to really help you understand what s wrong with your car and your options for fixing it. They re kind, thorough, and do a great job. They also follow up post-service to make sure all is well with your car.

Scheduled a tune up , and after diagnostic received other services that I thought would total upwards of maybe 1000. It was 400 dollars less. Great service and they call to let you know what needs to be worked on and give you an estimate. Also days after service they check in on how the car is running. I would arguably say the best mechanics in Nashville!

Quick & Efficient. Called to have a wheel bearing replaced and they were able to squeeze me in the same day. My car was ready the following morning and the problem had been fixed completely! Very reasonably priced and great service. 10/10 recommend.

They were very kind and diagnosed that my transmission shifter cable was broken, and instead of charging me, they found out the part was under a recall and told me to get it to Ford to fix for free! That honesty was very much appreciated, and they also let me stay inside while I waited for rides and rows to and from the place. Highly recommend.

My car battery unexpectedly died and we had a newborn to take care of. Carl Wood's Garage worked overtime to get us taken care of that day. The battery works great and the gave us a excellent deal even though they should have charged us a rush fee! It is a very friendly local shop which I feel like I can trust. It is a world of difference from the Honda dealership service department.Service: Auto battery replacement

Really excellent service, and they fixed my brakes, which ended up being a bit of an emergency repair. I was impressed by their responsiveness and customer service, and everyone there was super kind. This wasn't the first place I called to get help, yet they stepped up and were totally willing to assist - there are several other repair places that NEVER even called me back! The only reason I took a star off was because the repair cost was a bit on the high side. I paid it without complaint though, because again, they did it on basically zero notice and the customer service was awesome. I live nearly an hour away, but I would trust the people here with my car repairs anytime.

Carl Wood's is an outstanding auto mechanic, and especially convenient for all who live or work in the Vanderbilt-West End area. They have worked on our cars for 14 years, and they are highly skilled and very professional. They have our highest recommendation.

First time visit very impressed with the people and all around professionalism of Frank and Phil.Took my Tacoma for a couple of issues but had a few questions about what they would do. Frank was helpful and answered clearly and patiently. I left the truck and later the mechanic Phil called and described what he found, work to be done, and the cost. Fair prices, good work, and took care of me quickly. Highly recommend.Services: Electrical repair, Brakes

AC wasn't working in my 2013 Dodge Challenger. After being told I'd have to wait at least 2 weeks by all local Dodge dealers & hearing similar news from other garages, I found Carl Woods who had an appointment available within 7 days. Less than 4 hours after I dropped my vehicle off, I got a call from the garage informing me of the problem (punctured condenser) and an estimated cost. Since I was leaving town that night, I told the mechanic I didn't need the vehicle back ASAP & the following Monday would be fine. My car was fixed before I needed it, for less than I was quoted, and the garage staff are wonderful, friendly folks. This is the only place I will take my car from now on.Service: Air conditioning

I'll never go anywhere else in Nashville for my car!! After the ABS light came on in my old car I took it to the dealership and was quoted thousands for about a bunch of different critical issues. I was about to give up and sell the car when I decided to come here for one last opinion, and the awesome reviews are well deserved! They talked to me in layman's terms about what needed fixing, some alternatives to more extreme measures, what the exact problems were, and fixed the critical issues for about a fifth of the price. The invoice they gave listed everything they noticed and did, and broke down parts and labor. I can't imagine there's a more fair, honest garage in the city than this one!Services: Steering & suspension repair, Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes

I was with a family member at Vanderbilt hospital when my car developed problems. I live out of state and planned to take my family member home from the hospital this week after 5 weeks in the hospital. I dreaded finding strangers to work on my car, resigned to thinking it would be a rip off if I could find anyone to work in it. Wow! I am so blessed! The garage was totally booked up but got me in and back on the road before the holiday Easter weekend. Frank showed and explained everything to me that was done. I wish I had these people in my home town, they are amazing! Brilliant, compassionate, and fairly priced. Can I give more than 5 stars????!

HIGHLY recommend these guys! I had an electrical issue with my vehicle's seat that another repair shop could have easily over-charged me for unnecessary parts/labor. My mechanic, Frank, called me twice on the first day after I dropped it off with an update on the repair, and again the next day when the repair was complete. He even followed up a couple of days later to make sure I wasn't having any issues. These guys are fast, fair, and professional; To boot, the shop was super-clean and tidy.Service: Electrical repair

So thankful for the team at Carl Woods Garage! Got into a car accident while visiting Nashville and took my car to them for a safety inspection and to get my car in good shape to drive back to my home city. The team was super friendly, able to squeeze me into their schedule on short notice and got my car into great shape given the circumstances. After a dealership told me I needed a $2100 repair, I called Carl Wood's garage to get an estimate on the same repair. I had a taken another car there before and knew I'd get a fair price.The service I got went far beyond that. The owner told me that before replacing the part, he would suggest servicing the transmission which often improved the performance issue I was having. I agreed and took my car in.When I picked it up, he told me to drive it for a while to see if there was an improvement. I didn't have to leave the parking lot to know that he had been spot on. Simply idling, my car ran markedly better. For less than $200, my issue was resolved and I feel very confident that I am protecting the longevity of my car. I won't go anywhere else - this garage is the BEST!!

This business is very honest and was quite fast in repairing my car. I needed some electrical work done. They were very upfront about the amount of hours required to fix the issue and the pricing. Would definitely recommend.Edit: Staff also reached out to me via text about two days after the service to make sure everything with car was still working. That is just service you can t beat. And certainly something you won t find taking your car to a dealer.

Carl Wood s Garage has been in Nashville MANY years. They are reliable and honest. They have always been fair with their price, I trust them with my vehicles and I trust them for their recommendations. It is family owned and run business with excellent mechanics. Call before you take your vehicle - they know how much they can handle in a day and you may need to make a reservation to bring in your vehicle the next day or later in the week. I highly recommend Carl Wood s Garage.

Reliable, honest and fair prices. The best in Nashville. Frank took care of our old Ford Focus recently and got the repair right! And there was even a follow up message to me just this morning to make sure all was well. Highly recommended.

We've taken our Ford Freestyle to this garage for the past five years. We have had nothing but a good experience with this business. We had an air conditioner problem that was specific to Freestyles. We researched it online and shared that information with him and he paid attention, read the research and then fixed the problem. Instead of $1100 the dealership wanted to charge, it cost less than $50 to fix. We are loyal to this business, so loyal that when we needed new tires (which they don't sell) we asked them to recommend someone. They are honest, trustworthy and skilled. What more could you want in your mechanic. This business charges a fair price for honest work. I just hope they stay in business for years to come.

My car had a rattling noise for about 3 months, so I had a Toyota dealer diagnose the problem while I was there for a recall. They charged me $110 for diagnosis and said the heat shield needed replaced, which would be about $350. I found Carl Wood's Garage online and called. They told me they rarely replace the shields and can often clip them back on. I took it in this morning at 7:15am. They had it done by 7:40am AND it was only $24. I will be using them from now on for all my car needs! Regardless of the price, they truly made me feel that I can trust them and that they genuinely cared. They were very professional and extremely nice. Thanks, y'all!!

This is the best garage ever. They go out of their way to save you money. They often don t charge if they do something really small (but super important to you)! I trust them completely to never ever over sell me and to really know my car. My parents before me took their cars to this garage, it s really the best and most trustworthy mechanics you will ever find. Super friendly too.

Excellent experience with Carl Woods Garage. I made an appointment (took about 1 week to get in) and once I dropped the car off in the morning, I was contacted via phone about two hours later with a very clear explanation of what was wrong and what could be done to fix the problem (and not spend a ton of money.) Everyone was very professional and the service was fantastic. We will be going back!

I drop off my car the day of to try to sneak in an appointment and the good folks can accommodate me most of the time. Frank also helped me find my missing wallet for which I am grateful. He also didn't take my extra tip for finding my wallet and only said that was part of his job. They service both of my family's cars. 5 stars no question

I was new in town and found this shop after having a really bad experience with another shop in the area.My A/C went out on the drive to Tennessee from the west coast. This shop fixed the A/C with a very reasonable price. They communicated to me what needed to be done through the entire process.I will definitely use this shop for future repairs.

I m born and raised in Nashville. Have been going to Carl Woods Garage over the course of three cherished vehicles (an old Ford truck, a small Suzuki, and most recently, a Toyota FJ.)From front office to the nuts and bolts under the hood, these guys are the best.Fair, honest, communicative, on time, no frills, and they care. Frank / Michelle / and all mechanics on the floor are on their game and simply love and know what they do.Family owned since forever.A Nashville Institution for a reason.Love em. Highly recommend.

I took my car to Carl Wood's Garage after hearing a persistent engine knock. Scheduling an appointment was quick and easy, and I was able to drop my car off before going into work in the morning. It only took them a few hours to get back to me with the unfortunate news that I would need an engine replacement. Instead of trying to sell me on expensive repair work, he told me that most people just trade in the vehicle at this point. He explained everything very simply and held my car until I was able to pick it up. They didn't even charge me to diagnose the issue. Just from this experience, it's evident that these are honest, talented mechanics. I will most certainly return to Carl Wood's in the future for my repair needs.
