Beware!!! High Gear rebuilt my 5spd MT transmission and I had issues. I ended up shipping my transmission to a more qualified shop. Here is the write up of what was found upon diagnosing my issues:We received your 5-speed transmission and have taken it apart for inspection. The cause of your issues was a loose main shaft lock nut which allowed the 5th/Reverse sleeve & hub to move during thrust loads resulting in wear/damage to the sleeve & hub. In addition, although unrelated to your issue, the transfer gear bearings are in poor condition and should be replaced. They may have been like this prior to the original work or were damaged due to metal in the oil from the sleeve & hub failure (the residual oil in the transmission was black and contaminated with metallic dust). And lastly, it looks like at some point someone misaligned the main shaft front bearing with the locating pin (which also secures the reverse gear idler shaft). They must have pushed the pin into the case and then repaired it by fabricating a new longer pin. However, the pin is very difficult to extract (normally you can remove the pin from the hole in the case using just a magnet....but even with pliers we could not pull the pin out). While it s not necessary to remove this to fix your issue, should you ever have to replace the reverse idler gear the person doing the work is going to have a fun time of it.I provided High Gear with ALL new components (see pictures). I paid $1,600.00 to have High Gear rebuild the transmission. Come to find out, their work was subpar, I would not recommend them to anyone. They would not stand behind their workmanship. I d recommend doing your research before giving them your business.

Cody and his team are great! Can't recommend this shop enough. Shipped my NSG-370 quick and have been helpful with any questions or concerns I've had. Will definitely work with these guys again in the future!

Fast and easy to work with (ordered a NGS370 Transmission on a Friday received it the following Friday). Transmission not installed yet, waiting on motor. Will do a followup on everything is complete.

In 2004 they rebuilt a 5 speed transmission, and a transfer case for me. The transfer case lasted about 4 years, the transmission however didn't last but about 1000 miles. They refused to honor their warranty. I would never use them again. They did however offer to fix my transmission for $3000 . Which I had already paid $3500 for the transmission and transfer case. This was for an 88 Dodge Dakota 4X4

Horrible. Paid 6k for a trans to be built in December of 2021 and I ve had to take it back 2 times. 1st time for pitted input and output shaft bearings not but a couple months after the original build then just last week trans started rattling in every gear and when I called and told them they immediately said I broke my input shaft without even looking at it and wouldn t warranty labor so I had to give one of there builders $500 for his personal time building one even though he built my new trans on the clock. Not to mention they forgot to put some parts on the original built trans and luckily my buddy had the pieces I needed when I got it home and noticed it.This transmission goes in a truck which I make my income with and between all the down time and missed work they re still gonna charge $500? Not only have they lost my business but business of two other buddies of mine after seeing how I was treated. Hope Cody down at super stick in Texas is ready for me when this thing flys apart again cause that s where my business is heading, time for a real transmission builder to get his hands on this thingService: Transmission

I drove from Kansas City to Memphis to drop my transmission off at their shop to be rebuilt. About a month later I called them up to see how it was going, and they told me it was ready. So I drove down again to pick it up and noticed the transmission looked very different from the one I dropped off. They just pulled one off the shelf they already had rebuilt. The one I gave them had an upgraded input shaft and cast iron extension housing already. After driving back to Kansas City I discovered that they gave me one with a stock input shaft that does not fit my clutch setup. Now I have to make another 16 hour round trip to return this one. I didn t have any actual service done here but writing a review because of how customer service friendly these guys were with me. My manual transmission was struggling to get into first and second gear so I called them. The guy on the phone (Lloyd I think) said they only really do work on the transmission once it s removed but to bring it down and they d be happy to take a look. Their employee Kevin took it for a quick drive and was happy to offer me feedback on what he thought the issue was and even recommend reputable places to get the work done. (Ended up being a clutch issue). These guys were happy to help me knowing they likely weren t going to do the repair and took time out of their busy day to help me and even recommended a place to go. Kevin said he was happy to do it on the simple notion that well it s what we do They don t see people as just dollar signs like most places do. Service like that is unheard of this day and age.

My experience with High Gear has been nothing less than exceptional. I live in NJ and was having trouble finding someone to rebuild my NV3500 for a fair price. They came in 500 cheaper than anyone local (including shipping). Every person I have dealt with has been great. Thank you for helping finish up my project.

I buy from these guys through a distributor. I thought I'd take a few moments to write a review cause they went above & beyond helping me with an NSG370 in a Wrangler popping out of gear in first. I've bought several transmission at this point & have only had one issue which happens in this business, like I tell my customers as long as these things are made by men & not god himself there's going to be a problem sometimes, what makes the difference is how well you're taken care of when there is an issue. I will definitely be using these guys in the future on ones we don't build or don't have time to build because they do a quality job & stand behind their work in my experienceService: Transmission

The folks at High Gear were fantastic! Drove from Nashville to Memphis to pick up a transfer case. Called before I left, they assured me it would be ready and waiting. Indeed it was! They took the old one, loaded the new one, paid, in and out in about 30 minutes. I believe the young man I dealt with was named Cody. Super nice bunch of folks!

Cody and Hanna at High Gear are amazing! I love the fact that they are still family owned and operated. Their customer service is the best customer service you will receive in the industry. There is only once place I would ever trust for getting the best quality in a remanufactured transmission and that is High Gear. There are no corners being cut, and no smooth sales jobs, just an honest job at an honest price! I would highly recommend these guys to anyone in need of a re-man'ed trans.

I wish I had the same good experience with this outfit that the others did.I bought a 5 speed transmission for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler about 2 years ago. From the start it didn't shift quite right. I called them and told them that, so they recommended I change the oil in it. It already was full of that new high priced fluid they say it has to have. I wasted that and put in new oil. I told them it had a lot of shavings in it. I was told that shavings are ok (sic) but only worry about chunks.That didn't help so this time they told me to put in Lucas additive. Now I have a lot of money just in oil in this thing and still no better shifting. They then told me to give it about 3 months to "break in". Guess what, 90 day warranty. They got me that time.Anyhow, in 2 years this transmission is every bit as bad as they one I replaced.Lot of money for nothing.
