We have used Carroll's for many years. Very friendly staff, reasonable prices. Very good at finding problems when others can't. Will defiantly use for any repairs needed. Would recommend using this shop to anyone.

I used Carroll s after having starter troubles and needed a replacement for my 2015 Honda Accord sedan. They gave me a free quote and worked surprisingly quickly. EXTREMELY friendly staff and streamlined process of quote->job->satisfied customer. It even ended up being a bit cheaper than the quote, which was a huge plus. Left it on Monday for a starter replacement, got it back Tuesday morning. Would recommend to anyone in the tri-cities area.

TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I went to a big company shop in town and was quoted $1200 for brake work. Carroll s took care of it for $500 and didn t try to add anything extra or tell me I needed something when I didn t. These are genuine, honest people! 10/10 recommend!

My daughter had work done on her car and I was her driver to pick up her car. They did do a very good job on her car and it is still running so I know they know what they are doing. They were friendly and knowledgeable. I liked them myself for future work on my car.

Recently, my son was traveling from Tennessee back to Indiana and had a small accident leaving Tennessee. We were able to call and have him towed to Carroll s Auto Repair where they did an extremely great job on repairing my son s vehicle and readying it to be taken back to Indiana. I cannot express my thanks enough on their diligence of getting this completed. The pricing is very fair and their courtesy even better. Highly recommended. The people here are so kind, fast, and take such great care and consideration of your car when fixing it. Genuinely kept me in the loop the entire time and charged a great rate considering what I needed done, and how much of an emergency I was having. Honestly wouldn't go anywhere else but here. I couldn't stress enough how amazing this shop was to do business with.

Took our aging van to Carroll s to fix a power steering fluid leak. They repaired the leak, and did only the work that was needed without trying to sell me a bunch of extras I didn t need. Impressed with their work, customer service and their price too! Thanks guys, keep up the good work!

I've been going here for years. Used to be Carpenter's Auto Repair. Most of the same people still work there. Pretty sure the new owner worked there for quite a while before taking over. Work is always done in a timely and efficient manner. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Quality of service is always top notch. They don't try to upsell you on unnecessary "repairs". It seems like they truly understand that honesty and integrity will get much better repeat business than trying to get every penny out of you at every chance. Highly recommend

I am revising my review below based on this company s response to my last review. I sincerely appreciate the response and only wish these details had been offered during the scheduling and payment process. We definitely did not say the car had been parked, but I for sure indicated that we had been so busy and out of the country we had not had a chance to bring the car back in. My father had an accident September 29, I got married and had honeymoon in October and defended my dissertation November 1. Things were just crazy and the mechanic said we didn t need rotors after we asked for them so we weren t sure what to do. 5000 miles later they agreed it did. Our total out of pocket was almost $500 for two visits but that did include oil change. The verdict is still out for me on this business, but I really appreciate the opportunity to hear things I didn t when I was there in person.Previous review:We used Carpenters Auto repair many times and were very happy, but this garage is now under new management with a new name, and I definitely do not recommend. I honestly think that most of the reviews on here are for Carpenters not Carrols. We had heard from a few folks that things had really gone down hill, but we wanted to give them a try. We brought our Toyota Corolla for brakes and rotors a couple months ago. When we picked it up, they said the car didn t need rotors and they charged something like $250 just for front brake pads (the cheapest grade as noted by the brake dust EVERYWHERE for weeks).Immediately after picking the car up we had the bumping still.. the kind that occurs when rotors are bad. We assumed all was at least safe and we wanted to trust the experts so we didn t take it right back. Within a couple months things got much worse and every time you pressed the brakes they were bumping and worse than when we brought the car in the first time. They were even grinding like metal on metal when we came to a complete stop. Of course, we knew they needed rotors (which is why we asked for them the first time) and now new cheap brake pads on bad rotors was obviously a problem.We took the car back today to explain that we requested rotors that they didn t install, and we would like those rotors put on. I asked them if they would charge us labor twice even though we asked for a service they didn t do the first time. They said that they would charge labor again because their guy drove it last time and determined rotors weren t needed (even though we brought it in for rotors).Ultimately, they charged us twice for labor or almost $500 for a simple fix that would have been around $200 / $250 total anywhere else. They did not apologize for not doing what we asked in the first place and felt totally comfortable charging us twice and taking zero accountability for their previous work. This place was amazing. My daughter went here with her Mini Cooper cause it kept overheating. I searched for a place based on ratings and reviews and it honestly didn't disappoint. Im beyond thankful to this shop cause my daughter is a young college student living away from us in NC and they quickly looked at her car found the source and fixed the minor issue without charging her anything at all when most other shops would take advantage of the situation these people here were wonderful. We will always go to them for any future repair and I will say you cant find honest shops like this one.

Took my car there for repair. After having it there for a week, they called me and said it was fixed. They replaced an ignition coil and a spark plug, charged me $270 and sent me on my way. I drove it home, and right back to the shop. It was not fixed and had they driven the car to inspect, they would have known. When I went back, they found a transmission fluid leak and sent me to a transmission repair shop. Had they driven the car, I would not have spent $270 on a repair that did no difference since the transmission is gone. Will not be going back EVER.

These guys are great! I've never even stepped foot in this place, but rather worked out a vehicle inspection for a car we were thinking of buying from a distance. They worked us in last minute and gave a thorough report of the issues with car. In the end, they didn't even charge me for their time. Wouldn't hesitate for a minute to bring my own cars here.

After being treated horribly and lied to by a local Toyota dealership, I turned to Carroll s Auto Repair. I am so grateful for their honest and professional service. I have bragged to every person that I can on this amazing experience. I will ALWAYS take my truck to Carroll s. I just wish I found them years ago. Great work guys! What wonderful service. Carpenter's took my vehicle in Monday morning with no appointment and had it repaired by Tuesday afternoon. This is exceptional considering they aren't friends, I'm not a frequent patron and it was not just a "friends" special. From what I understand, they treat every customer this way. Opening at 7:30am is a great help to me and they have a fence and gate to keep the cars protected when they're away. I'll be sharing the word about this place.

I was very pleased with my service that I received from these people. They were friendly and didn't push me to make quick decisions. Got me in very quick and gave me answers the same day. I felt comfortable with everything they did and will definitely return. I sent my mother in law in today to have her car looked at and have my son coming in a few days. Good service goes a long way. Jeff, and Carroll's Auto Repair,-- is wonderful.So glad I found them years ago when they were "Carpenter's"..I took my 1991 4wd Toyota truck in because the gearshift woulden't go into reverse or 5th gear. [it just flopped over sideways]The "Transmission shop" said I could expect $400, to $600 for the repair.Just got my truck back, it works perfectly..I paid $62 for the part, Carroll's charged me less than $53. for the labor.Still a wonderful place to do business.Service: General repairs & maintenance

In April 2022 I had a problem - ostensibly - with my power steering on a 2011 Escalade. Carroll's diagnosed what HAD been a recurring and somewhat mysterious problem as residing with the vehicle's rack and pinion system They fixed this at a rate well below the Internet estimated cost. I have travelled about 1000 miles now with no problems. I have taken vehicles to Carroll's perhaps twice before and each time they have diagnosed the problem conservatively (e.g., not presented me with a list of 10 things to fix) and gotten me on the road. While Johnson City has many good mechanics, it is Carroll's that I recommend over and again.

The best garage in town! Very honest people and I wouldn t go anywhere else with car trouble. I took my truck in one time because of a noise I heard and they worked most of the morning and day trying to figure it out. When he found out my exhaust pipe was disconnected and rubbing the drive shaft he referred me to a great muffler shop in town and didn t charge me a dime for taking all that time. I tried to pay Butch and he refused and shook my hand!
