I would never consider anyone else for a tow. Used them for 20+ years. Never used them for repairs but I would expect nothing less than honesty and integrity.

These guys are AWESOME, had to have my car towed due to an Auto Technicians mistake, they were phone courteous, prompt, and the driver was very friendly, we talked all the way to the shop and the price was reasonable. I'm using them from now on. THANKS GUYS! YOU HAVE A HAPPY CUSTOMER!

For the last 20 years this has been my "phone-a-friend" when I'm in need of a tow. This company has consistently been fast, friendly, honest, affordable and reliable. They're fair with pricing & remain considerably cheaper than AAA. On one occasion I was able to be serviced after normal business hours for a small fee and the customer service was unchanged. They are the Chick-Fil-A of the mechanic world. This Place has been a thriving & booming small business in downtown Chattanooga as long as I can remember and longer than that. I dialed them today and as long as they are around I'll call them again. As always thanks guys!

Came into town and my car started making a weird noise, a tale as old as time. I called Downtown Auto up the next morning and they were able to fit me into their schedule to diagnose AND fix the problem before I was scheduled to leave town. I got recommended here to see Patrick and was very trusting off the word of mouth from a friend. I went in for some front end work and alignment on my truck. Patrick was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. He kept it honest and told me what I needed instead of replacing a bunch of extra stuff thay wasn't necessary. They had my truck fixed and running right faster than I figured the work would take. I've been making excuses to get out the house and drive the truck ever since. It feels brand new I highly recommendService: Wheel alignment

Car battery had died so I called Down Town Automotive to get my car towed. The southern gentleman I spoke with on the phone was incredibly friendly and helpful and had the best quote in town. Shortly after, I got a call from Gerald who met me at my apartment and quickly got my car to the mechanic. Gerald was kind, informative, and an ease to work with. He talked highly of his job and the company and made an annoying situation a breeze. This company is a must-call.

If I could leave negative stars, I would, unfortunately that s not an option! This is by far the WORST experience I ve had in my life, not just with mechanics but with any business I ve ever dealt with! If you care about your vehicle, I highly recommend taking it ANYWHERE but here! Not only do they do bad work, they will rip you off then cuss you when you question them.Service: General repairs & maintenance

What can I say but absolutely amazing service. Super friendly when our van broke down on our vacation they were able to take the time right away to not only diagnose the problem but to fix the van and have it ready to go the next day. They even went above and beyond and dropped us back off at the hotel and when they called to tell me the van was done they even picked us up and brought me and my three children to the shop to get the van. I cannot put into words how highly I recommend this place. So very kind when we were in a new town and desperately needed help. Wonderful crew they got here. They got my car took care of fairly quickly, and worked with me when it came to when i was able to pick my car up. Not being charged for having to let it sit a few days once it was fixed was a bonus. Patrick did awesome repair in a timeframe that was better than others. Bob is the best for he was ever so patient and such a sweetie when i was finally able to go and pick my car up. Definetly recommend these guys for anyone who finds themselves stranded and in a serious need for a reliable and trustworthy tow and/or repair

My clutch went out as I was rolling into Chattanooga and I called another transmission place and they were backed up and referred me to Down town automotive. They came immediately and towed my vehicle and replaced the clutch, master cylinder, and some other minor issues in 1 day. The shop may not be much to look at but the people make the difference and these guys are no frills car guys. Their rates are reasonable and I will be back for all my automotive needs.Service: Transmission

We used this place to have our van towed. Our van broke down during vacation and we were extremely stressed having to leave it over an hour away from us. We needed it towed back home to us. This place not only gave us the best quote out of everyone but were very professional, nice, and quick! Definitely recommended!

I drove my girlfriends car here from out of town for work and car her car would no longer start! Fast tow, and friendly service. Found the problem and fixed it quickly! Could have easily up-priced me and said it was something else, but didn't. Honest and experienced mechanics A+.

A great classic Chattanooga find for your automotive fix! But really! I love Bob, Clyde, Patrick, and the rest of the team at Downtown Automotive. They were great at listening to my needs and making sure they recommended the best parts, but also told me where I could save if I wanted (although you get what you pay for). Great team! Great service! Great prices!

The staff was willing to help my flat tire whereas other repair shops turned it down. When it turned out it was not fixable, they recommended to visit another repair shop which was right across the street because they didn't have a tire to replace mine. Very kind.

Used them for years with no problems . They are something that doesn't exist anymore a hometown, family operated , honest automobile repair shop . They are honest, friendly and have very fair prices and will charge you a whole lot less than a dealer for fixing your car (and do just as good of a job) . As a 49 year old family ran business ourselves we highly recommend Downtown Automotive to our friends, family and all our customers past and resent

I cannot rate this place of business any higher! I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman that came to our rescue. The most kindest man you will ever meet. We were enroute to Chicago and were staying at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel and somehow I had misplaced my rental car keys.I was devastated and upon his arrival he immediately tried to calm my worst fear.. that the key had been dropped and picked up by a passerby. He helped me search endlessly but to no avail. He was then forced to open the car and at that point continued to help me look for the keys inside. Fortunately just a few minutes later my daughter found the keys in our hotel room!I want to thank him for his Ultimate kindness and re-creating the atmosphere from doom to hope :)May your kindness be rewarded in some fashion..

Came and got my car on Saturday, told me it could not be diagnosed until Tuesday. Tuesday comes and I call they say it STILL has not been looked at , it will be looked at the following morning. The following day comes and I called around 4pm, car STILL has not been looked at and can t be looked at Wednesday OR Thursday. To make matters worse, they refuse to tow my vehicle back to where they got it from because they have too much stuff to do , if you were extra backed up with work, why even accept to come and get my car to begin with? Very unprofessional.

Owner was rude and made me feel like my business didn t matter. I asked if I could speak to the manager and he said I was speaking to him, asked if there was anyone else I could speak to and his response was honey, I m the owner so you re talking to who you can . He then told me I was wasting the phone line and hung up..... all because I asked if I could schedule the tow.

Please don't go to this place!!!! They broke!!! My car in three places!!!! And put parts on backwards!!!! They charged me 500.00 for breaking my car and putting parts on backwards. My car was in worse condition coming out than it was when it went in. They were so nonchalant they Dont Care!!! They just want the money!!!!! If you need your car Don't I repeat Don't take it to this place

I've only ever used their towing service, but it is without a doubt the cheapest towing in Chattanooga. The tow drivers are courteous and nice.

Great service!! They towed my car and repaired the axle, caliber, and rear end on my Crown Vic. It didn't take them forever to fix it, great work, and I will use them again!!!

Downtown Auto has the best mechanics they do a terrific job at a great price are highly recommend downtown Auto get your car fixed the right way friendly atmosphere they know what they're doing I trust them with all repaired on my vehicles

One of the best shops in town just got my car fixed fast and done right. It seemed like they were really knowledgeable and experienced in what they do.
