I had this jt guy build my transmission he left the bolts loose in my front pump and it blew out the fluid he would not pull the trans and fix it. He just made excuses. Bad place thuiguy is a lyar

JR and his team worked on my sons 07 toyota tundra. it needed a starter, crankshaft sensor, and a couple of solenoids replaced. All which were a pain to get to in those toyotas. The truck runs great and feels like it did when i first bought the truck for myself. Jr was very honest about what needed done and EXACTLY how much everything would cost. No hidden cost or fees. He even called before moving on to the next thing that needed fixed just to make sure we were all on the same page. I would recommend them to anyone and will definitely be back with any of my vehicle repairs! Thanks guys!

Brought our 2006 manual Jeep Wrangler over to diagnose a jingling noise underneath and see why my reverse gear wouldn't engage firmly, and needed my emergency brake tightened.They replaced the drive shaft which stopped the jingling noise,Tightened brake to find the pads were at their last possible pad. So, they changed the brake pads,Determined the reverse shifting handle just needs to be accurately put in the area by the driver and it won't slip out or make that awful noise. They drained the transmission fluid and replaced it.The men who diagnosed the issues were kind and quick to look underneath upon my arrival and one drove it around with me for me to explain what I heard.Jr called me with pricing and scheduled the repairs. I appreciated his kind professional management.Thank you all. The Jeep drives more solid with the drive shaft replaced, no more noise, the brake pulls up easier and the reverse noise can be avoided by making sure I put it in gear correctly.Blessings to you all.

Very friendly gentleman. We couldn't meet eye to eye on what I consider a reasonable price. I completely understand the reason for doing business and the goal is to preform a service that you are capable of that others may not. A 1,000$ to replace a clutch for labor with me supplying the parts seems a little far fetched. Especially after a price was given for a rebuilt transmission including labor was only 800$ "roughly" more than the clutch just for labor.... Had the first quote been at least reasonable, I would have had but jobs done here but instead, I choose neither to be warranted.... Very polite and very business minded gentleman. Perhaps I'm wrong on my opinion of the pricing. I would suggest you give this business a try to see if it's me and not the business....

We took our 2014 Volvo XC-60 SUV to three mechanics for noise and vibration from the right rear wheel error. One misdiagnosed it and charged us $thousands for unnecessary front axles and CV Joints. The second one just changed the oil! Both told us we were imagining the problem. Junior diagnosed it correctly and found us a used rear differential with an 18 month warranty for less than the first guy had charged. The car runs like new!So we brought in our 2012 Fiat 500 that needed a new engine. This car has been modified for towing behind our motorhome and is otherwise like new so it was worth it to us. Junior found us a used motor with a warranty and that car runs better than new!Better Built is an hour s drive from our house but I will gladly make the trip for courteous, competent service and excellent results! I took my car there and they fixed the problem staff was friendly and curious. They were got the car fixed in a timely fashion I have and will go back there. I have and will recommend them. I need to mention that Jr. is wonderful in every way and very professional and true to his word as long as he is there they have my business because you need someone honest when you are talking about getting your car worked on. (Edited on 8.15.19!)ATTENTION: they do NOT accept credit cards of any kind. I was a little stunned since I was paying a couple thousand dollars for a new transmission and had planned to put it on a card to earn some extra points and pay it off over the next couple Months. Luckily I had enough in savings to cover it. My car has only been out of the shop for a week and I am not terribly happy with the results at the moment. They do offer a warranty on their work, so I might be visiting them again to do more work.EDITED TO ADD: they were kind enough to check my car a couple weeks after the Original service to make sure that all was good. I just had my one year service and I have been very happy with the results. The credit card is something that potential customers should be aware of, but I would definitely recommend the business !

My Jeep was having transmission problems. I had it towed to Better Built Transmissions. It turned out to be an electrical problem. Jr. communicated with me as they found the problem. I was prepared for the worst but got a nice surprise from a honest repair shop. I could have been taken advantage of and never would have known. They fixed my vehicle and I didn't need expensive transmission repairs. First class service!Service: Electrical repair

I broke down pulling my 36' 5th wheel on vacation 500 miles from home got in touch with Tim here and was able to limp to the shop. Tim had me back on the road in less than 48 hours, We where able to salvage our vacation and felt confident making the rest of the 1200 mile round trip. They could have easily taken advantage of the situation but didn't! Fair prices great service. Would highly recommend better built transmissions!

Had transmission go out on Saturday while in Athens visiting wife's father in nursing home. Had to wait till Monday morning to find a shop that was open. First place we tried was Better Built Transmission & Auto Repair. When we called and told them the dilemma we were in being 10 hours from home and needing to get back they told us "don't worry, we will get you taken care of"! And they did. They started on truck immediately and had parts overnighted just to get us back on road as soon as possible. They came in early to get truck finished to. They even drove us to get a rental car and picked us up when we had to drop it back off. Can't say enough about how well they took care of us. Highly recommend! Just a quick note...Don't trust Google directions. it took us out into the country. they are @ 3055 Congress Pkwy in Athens.

If you want honest, fast, friendly service then this is the place. Our transmission died as we pulled into the motel to spend the night. I called Jr. and he went out of his way to help us. He put us ahead of the other work he had, stored our small trailer for a week while we continued on our trip because rentals do not allow towing, didn't charge labor on a couple of additional parts. He even called me to make sure we got home ok. Who does that? JR. that's who. He was a great blessing to me and my family in a trying situation. God bless you and your family for honestly caring and going out of your way to help.Service: Transmission

I took my van there & he had all 4 breaks & roaters replaced in 1 day and was cheaper than local shops I had called. I will definitely be taking my vehicle here from now on.

I have had an oil leak since they worked on my truck they told me they knew how to fix it but I had to tell them how to bleed the cooling system I have no idea how hot they let it get there is coolant splashed all over the engine bay when I pick it up I had to stop a mile down the road and clean my pedals that were vovered in oil there was so much oil on my floor mats I had to throw it away when I got home I truly believe that I was taken advantage of because they knew I live 4 hours away and there was no way I could come back to get it fixed so now I am going to have to spend more than $400 and fix it myself properly. Do not go here they are a rip off.

These guys are amaizing!!! I have a transmission that very few people know how to fix, much less replace it. Brand new trans and install for a great price. They take time to squeeze your car in. Not many people do that. I paid $250.00 just so I could get it to THEM.Outstandingly courteous! I might not have a broken down car again, but I promise I'll bring doughnuts soon. Lol

Wife and I were traveling from NY to FL for a wedding, our car threw the serpentine belt near Athens - Better Built was able to diagnose the problem quickly and give us an estimate. We arranged for a rental to attend the wedding and picked the car up on the way back - estimate and timetable were both spot on, and the car ran beautifully for the 11.5 hr trip back to NY. No issues whatsoever. Good experience, would recommend.Service: General repairs & maintenance

We had a van worked on at Better Built Transmission and it is running great. We had a hard time paying it off because we are on a fixed income, however Better Built worked with us for quite a while and we finally got it paid off and back on the road. We are forever grateful for Better Built Transmission and we definitely recommend them to anyone no matter your financial situation. God bless

Tim and his crew went above and beyond to diagnose the problem and fix my transmission and transfer case. I have been in and around the car service industry for over 30 years and this has been one of the best experiences of a shop that goes the extra mile for their customers. I unfortunately broke down while on vacation, these guys got me in n out and made sure I could safely get back home. From the counter guy to the mechanic, they were all very friendly, professional, and extremely helpfully!! Would highly recommend to anyone in the Athens, TN area!! Very nice men.Seems a little costly but if it gets it fixed and I don't have any other problems then I'll be satisfied. I bought a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox,with cash money from Mt.View Nissan in Cleveland, TN and I had the vehicle 3wks and then the transmission goes out and the car lot wouldn't help me in anyway shape or form and now I'm paying the same amount for the transmission. So I will keep you posted on my experience with them. I wanted to send a special ty for looking at my car today.

While traveling from Florida back to Michigan our camper van broke down on I 75. It was Sunday so No repair shops were open. Junior returned my call and allowed the van to be towed to the shop. The van was expedited in at 7:30 AM Monday morning and after an extensive electrical repair we were back on the road at minimal cost before 11AM.I recommend this shop with great emphasise.

We were headed on a family vacation from ga to nyc and our van broke down on the side of the highway we waited hours on roadside assistant and ended up having to call a local towtruck Benton towing they arrived in minutes and was a great help and referring me and my family to better built transmission. They was a blessing in a crisis and was not only able to source the parts that were required to fix our van ,but they were actually concern they started working on it that day and put in over time making sure they got my family back on the road by far the best mechanic shop in Athens Tennessee i would strongly recommend them if your having car trouble thanks for getting my family on the road again god bless Service: General repairs & maintenance

Probably the most important thing you need with your mechanic is trust. Most people have no idea whether they need what they are told or not, you need to trust your mechanic. These folks had every opportunity to replace my transmission, At considerable expense to me, but determine the problem was not my transmission it was something else.
