Rented a car and turned it in as I recieved it with 72 miles (as noted by me and my original receipt). Several months later I am notified my Purco Fleet that I damaged the car in the form of a door ding on the passenger side. And this damage will cost me a little over $1,800. When I recieve the documentation from Purco they noted the damage was realized at 75 miles (as evidenced by the pic they sent of the odometer) When I constested this difference in mileage they said it was my error. This Hertz branch is not corporate and has a pretty well documented history of claiming damage and working having Purco go after you. Be forewarned and take pics of the car before and after.

If I can give this people a -100 I would. When I got to pick up the car I was asked to pay when I had already paid ahead. I cleared that out but I should have known this was a shady unprofessional place. After I returned the car . 2 weeks later I get a call saying there is a scratch in the car and I m responsible. I should have taken pictures of the car when I dropped it off. The charge was 300 dollars. I explained to the lady I didn t do it and why was I responsible for something done 2 weeks later.She said is your responsibility because you signed the agreement regardless and you didn t take pictures. Long story short I paid for something I DID NOT do. If you are renting from Herts which I will never do again . Take pictures and make sure someone inspects the car when you leave or they will accuse you of any other damage done by their drivers. Im Never doing business with Hertz again and will make sure my friends and family won t either

I'm just here to add my story of the "hail damage" scam! It's very real, and it could happen to anyone in Rapid City. We never encountered hail during the 3 days we had the vehicle in Rapid City.The precipitation reports from those days support us. There was none. They claim the damage was on the roof and hood, but in the pictures they provided, the "damage" was so minascule that we couldn't see even the slightest ding. If I had known about this scam, we would have insisted on a thorough inspection. My husband stayed with the car after we turned it in while I completed the paperwork, and the young man came in with my husband and said, "They are good to go! Everything looks great! " I didn't receive the first call from PurCo until about 15 days later. Do not rent from Hertz. We will never rent from them again.

Definitely ripped me off. Keep all your receipts. I placed $75 in the gas tank the night before I returned the vehicle. I left the vehicle at the airport with a full tank of gas and was later charged $35 for gas that I'd already put in. The tank was on full. Not cool. Will not be using this location in the future

This is the SECOND TIME WE BOOK WITH HERTZ UNDER MY AAA MEMBERSHIP.THIS HERTZ WILL PROFILE YOUSecond time they charge a smoking fee .WE ARE NOT SMOKERS. IF ANYTHING WE VAPE.I EVEN TOOK PICTURES SINCE LAST TIME THEY ACCUSED US OF ASH WHEN IT WAS OUTSIDE LITTLE TRASH !! Now that I I tell them I took pictures , they say it smelled like it was smoked in There s many other car rental options in the terminal. I would suggest using ANYONE BUT HERTZ.

Major difficulty trading in a car after one day of renting (and no refund for remaining days not used) to a car that can be driven cross country and three separate hold charges put on my account for my trouble. The car wasn't safe to drive over 2,000+ miles and was NEVER cleaned before I got it. The acting manager said there wasn't any damage on the car, which there were many. Major noises coming from underneath the car. Then accusing me of not returning the car when I got to my final destination. Unacceptable! Unprofessional behavior!

Be VERY careful about their "hail damage" scam. No problems with the actual car rental. Easy pickup. Nice car.Before i returned the car, I looked online and saw the numerous complaints about bogus hail damage charges. I decided to take pictures and demand an inspection, just on case.Sure enough, when I brought the car back, the agent asked "Did you have any damage from the hail last night?"There was no hail.I told him no and asked him to come inspect the car. We went out and looked. No damage. He said, "You must have gotten lucky".It wasn't luck. There wasn't any hail. I took pictures to prove it.Be VERY careful if you rent from these people. The hail damage scam is real.

If I could give this place negative 10 stars I would! Avoid avoid avoid! Horrible customer service! Car broke down on vacation had to be towed. Called was advised would be rented to, and I had to Uber there. Paid for an Uber to get to the airport and they would not rent because I only had my debit card on me. Called my husband who would pay with credit card as I was stuck here with my child and no card and they said they could not manually key. Had no manager apparently nor corporate office there, so no accountability and can run their business however they want without consequence to positions they put people in. Michael needs phone training on relaying policies on payment ESPECIALLY to someone who has relayed they are stuck due to breakdown! You suck Hertz Rapid City and you cost me 3 hours stranded at the airport and $65 worth of Uber and taxi fees for absolutely nothing! BRAVO

Antiquated. Overland West consistently disappoints regardless of location. Beware of their random holds! You won t find any small town hospitality here. Beware.

I booked online with Orbitz a few months back. My total was $296. I reserved the economy special so I was ready to get some little weird car. We got to the airport and Hertz was right down stairs! There was nobody else in line so the whole check in process took maybe 5 minutes tops. The guy got us a 2023 Ford Expedition. Absolutely insanely nice car by the way. Loved it. (And I m a Chevy guy) Only reason I m giving it 4 instead of 5 is because I only used half a tank of gas ($40 worth out of the $80+ I pre paid for) SIXT refunds you for the gas you don t use so cmon Hertz! Other than that, the random fees that pop up afterwards are annoying and totaled like $10-$15 but otherwise great experience

This rental location gets 0/5 stars. DO NOT REND YOUR CAR THROUGH HERTZ RAPID CITY. A third party company that I had no agreements with or prior knowledge of ("PurCo") sent letters after my trip charging with me with fraudulent claims of damage. We did not damage the car, and Hertz did not charge us for it. These suspicious letters were coming from PurCo. Hertz refused to intervene. This is a terrible scam and this company is fraudulent, avoid at all costs.

I was highly impressed with the Hertz at the Rapid City airport. The price was half as much as everyone else. The staff were excellent, the vehicle was new, clean, and exceeded our needs, and the gas tank was filled to the top. Our plane was delayed and the staffed explained how we could keep the vehicle for a couple more hours without any cost or penalty. I would definitely rent from them again.

THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH FRAUD AT THIS LOCATION AND MAYBE OTHER PLACES AROUND THE U.S. I would have liked to have given Hertz a zero star but had to put one in too make this review fly. I rented a Hertz rental car at the Rapid City Airport in May of 2022. When we picked up the car we were only given the keys, no one came out to check the car with us. My wife and I toured the Mt Rushmore area and other areas in this part of South Dakota. I had the rental car for three days. The weather was on the good side for us, there was some rain on the last night of our visit. We stayed in a local hotel and parked the rental car in the only open parking lot that was available. We finished our visit and returned to the airport, we turned the rental car back into Hertz. The same procedure for the car return, no one came out to check the car. We returned the keys, boarded our plane and returned home. A short time later I received a call from PurCo Fleet Services that there was HAIL DAMAGE to the hood of the rental car. The car was repaired and I was to pay them close to $3,000 dollars due to the damage and the car being out of service. I really thought that this was some kind of scam/joke. Well, I was correct on the scam. There was no hail storm during our visit. Long story short during the course of nearly one year I battled this FRAUD with PURCO and my insurance company. I got no where. So, my insurance company rolled over and paid them nearly $2,000 dollars and of course I was on the hook for around $500. After all this I did check Google reviews for rentals at this particular office. I did see some one star reviews that mirrored my outrage regarding fraudulently claims by Hertz. The other reviews included hail damage, windshield damage and other damages. So, from now on will check reviews at particular car rental locations prior to rental. Also, video the car prior to driving with date stamp and also on return. BTW, I WILL NEVER RENT FROM HERTZ AGAIN. ATTENTION HERTZ CORP EXECUTIVES, YOU ARE GETTING AWAY WITH FRAUD FOR NOW BUT SOONER OF LATER YOU AND THE COMPANY WILL GO DOWN!

Was told upon pickup that they had lower gas prices, $4.19 than that in Rapid City, $4.69 so to bring the vehicle back empty. They even had a sign behind the counter showing the same info. Upon returning the vehicle, it was bright and early before they opened, and the sign still claimed $4.19 a gallon, so, I brought the vehicle back half full. Just received my e receipt and was charged $8 a gallon. Been calling with no answer to try and see why I was charged almost double. They know your not going to be around when they bend you over. Will NEVER rent from these thieves again nor ever take their word for something they claim will occur but to be ripped off 1500 miles away.

After a very long flight, and arriving at my husbands rental car agency. (not mine)we were met with the rudest rental car rental agent ever!Needless to say I walked over to Hertz!Talk about night and day difference! Holden was super sweet, knowledgeable, and sympathetic!He put us in a great car, but more importantly his customer service was outstanding! Avoid any other rental agency .head to Holden at Hertz!Welcome to Rapid City.

Left something valuable in car when dropped off at night. Realized next morning I forgot it. Called 1st thing next morning and reported when I got their they had retrieved and had it ready for me to pick up. So thankful.

The car I received was dirty with the previous renters animal / pet hairs scattered around the car and gas tank was not full as it was supposed to be when I received the car.Also, they overcharged me from the agreed price I had in writing from the online reservation. They said they would contact me so we could fix the overcharge but they did not.I had to file a complaint with my credit card company to fix their attempt to rip me off on the price of the rental and my credit card company did just that.The Hertz name has really gone downhill, used to be one of the best.I will not use their services again because they are dishonest and run their business in a sloppy and unprofessional manner.

Just got a call from them saying I did a windshield damage to the vehicle which I did not. Apparently they inspected a vehicle almost a week after I returned it and now trying to charge me for the damage I did not doUpdate: company that handles their claims very demanding and completely impolite. They don t bother proving that damage is done by you, they told me exactly that: we son t have to send you pictures or prove that damage was done by you. I tried to contact Hertz to escalate but all I was told is to work with that horrible claim processing company. So they don t have to prove you did the damage. How nice.

Literal joke. Charged our card before we put the money on so it declined. It went through once the money was on but then there was a pending charge on the card and the card couldn t be used till that pending charge was dropped. Called and they said there is nothing they could do an our only option was to return the car to get that pend off. Even though we need the car longer I m not trying to get scammed out of another $200 because of their screw up, save your money!

I must be lucky so far. I picked up in rapid city and returned the car in Idaho falls about 2 months ago now. I paid a premium but thank goodness I reserved the car 10 months in advance but I was concerned the whole time I would be one of the people that would get charge for hail damage. I had a great experience at pick up and drop off.

Scammed me out of $250. Absolutely the worst car rental office I have ever used and I rent cars regularly. I will never go through hertz again due to this office. I don't even know how they are still in business this is literally a scam business they are running.I originally rented the car from the Costa mesa CA location. While in rapid city SD I struggled for three weeks to get this car switched out and was repeatedly told that if I wanted to do so I would have to pay additional charges. I have been renting cars for years and had never been charged in the past for just switching a car out. The managers,Tim and Shane, were extremely rude and unprofessional. They would hang up on me, leave me on hold for very long amounts of time, not answer the phone when I would call back, and even caused my mother to miss a day of work from the stress this caused her from dealing with this office. For three weeks I battled with them, unable to return to California because they would not let me switch this car out. During that time I was unable to use the car at all, yet I was still paying on it. There are multiple case numbers from roadside assistance to confirm this. I finally got the confirmation from them that I could switch the car out without any additional charges. Roadside assistance spoke with Shane the manager and he said that i could switch it out and i wouldn't be charged additional charges. This was noted by roadside assistance. I also spoke with Travis at the rapid city location upon picking up the car asking why they needed my debit card if there weren't going to be any additional charges and he just said that its protocol but I would not be charged. I checked with my bank today just to be sure and they charged me $253 through their office on top of the original contract charges I had from Costa mesa, CA. I called and spoke with Tim the manager and he was extremely rude,condescending and disrespectful. He hung up on me and refused to credit me the charges saying Costa mesa would have to be the ones to credit this amount even though Costa mesa has no way to access this contract as they are a licensee office and its a separate contract from the one I had with Costa mesa.This office should be shut down. Go through anyone but them if you don't want to be scammed out of your hard earned money.

Not happy with this company. The website and the salesmen at Rapid City Airport did not mention anything about a deposit fee via phone call that was required along with rental fee for a car rental. My first time trying to rent one. No did not fly in, just needed a vehicle to use. It would have been nice if the Hertz website when registering for a rental car that this information be included.

Wow! Can't believe all the negative reviews for Hertz at Rapid City Regional Airport. I reserved my car online, was greeted with a smile when I picked up the car. I had never driven a car with push-button start before, and the staff was very helpful in explaining how it worked. The car was clean, full of gas, and fun to drive. Upon my return one day early, I was credited for the day I didn't use - no problems.Great experience! I will definitely use them again!

I was very pleased with this Hertz Rent A Car location. It was the most affordable rental option at the airport, as well as the service was outstanding. From the time I arrived to the counter and was seated in my rental car, took approximately 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly on my pick-up and return. The return was just as seamless as the pick up. I highly recommend this Hertz Rent A Car location if you re visiting the Rapid City area, via the airport.

I was nervous about using this company after reading google reviews, but I wanted to save money and use my AAA discount. I had no issues with Hertz during my stay in rapid city. The car was clean and I paid what I expected to pay with no hidden fees.

I thought everything was great until a couple weeks after I returned home to Ohio and I received a notice from PurCo Fleet Services (insurance company) that a claim was filed for hail damage. There was no precipitation of any kind during the five days I had the vehicle. Based on my experience, and the other reviews I have read now (I wish I had read them before this rental), I think this Hertz location is scamming their customers and routinely practices insurance fraud.

It's NOT ok to insist people use credit cards. A credit card is not something everyone needs or should have. It's unethical not too let people rent without it. Put a large hold on debit, charge entirely upfront. DO NOT strand people at the airport, it's a****lery There should be a class action on this discriminatory practice.

Rented and returned a vehicle to this location in July 2022 in exactly the same condition as I rented it. Now I have a fraudulent claim from a third party vendor claiming I owe $5200 in damage. "Josh" at this location refused to help me when I called or to allow me to speak with a supervisor. I have no idea what they are even claiming nor was there any damage to this vehicle, let alone 5K worth. This is a complete scam, and no one will assist me.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! They are trying to claim we had Hail Damage to the vehicle that we rented 2 weeks ago. I should have read the reviews because it seems like they do this a lot. We asked the employee to come and inspect the car and he refused as he said they were short handed. So happy we took pictures of the car when we returned it!!
