If I could give zero stars I would. We rented a car from this location during a trip at the end of June. First hiccup was they didn't have our car ready. The vehicle we did get was returned in great shape. We returned it early in the morning before they were open due to our flight. We took pictures of the vehicle before we turned in the keys and completed the return log. We received our receipt from them so we knew the car was checked in and back in their possession. It's almost a month later and we get a notification in the mail from PurCo stating that there was hail damage to the car. We called this location to see where the hail damage was location and they couldn't tell us. We talked to the contact at PurCo and they said they had a blurry photo of the so called hail damage, but they couldn't tell where it was on the car. So now we are left with fighting about hail damage on a car that didn't see hail while it was in our possession. If you look at PurCo's reviews on google you will see that multiple people have been put in this same situation and have been harassed by this company with a D rating on BBB. Budget rental car is our preferred rental company, however we will likely shy away from using them in the future due to this situation. I highly recommend that you avoid renting from this location you will likely get scamed.

They tell you one thing on the phone and then something completely different when you pick up. Completely unprofessional mangament that will literally laugh in your face. I do not recommend this company at abll. We had much better luck with enterprise and the customer service was ten times better. We were not left in the dark about anything and no surprise fees when we showed up!! 0 out of 5 stars. This company is a joke!!!

They will make fraudulent insurance claims on the vehicle you rent. They will falsely claim hail damage after you return their vehicle if you do not purchase their hail damage waiver. This location does not operate in good faith and will make false claims on your vehicle. Take pictures upon returning your vehicle if this is your only option.

My personal car broke down in Rapid City and I live in Aberdeen. The garage said it needed a part and would not be here for 2 days. I needed to get my family home to school and myself to work.I went to Budget and tried to rent a car, because I didn't have a major credit card they would not rent to me. I feel this is some type of discrimination for those who don't want to have a credit card with a balance. A debit card is just as good as money is readily available.I checked all major rentals and they said the same, we need a major credit card. So my last stop was Black Hills Car Rentals, no questions asked they took my debit card and within 15 minutes I had a really nice car to drive and they are a life saver.If anyone needs a car please see BLACK HILLS CAR RENTALS, 1600 E Hwy 44 in Rapid City

Lindsey at the front desk was so helpful and really went above and beyond to provide great service.We flew in RAP on a late flight and had booked a compact suv. I guess Budget didn t have any vehicles in that class available, so they upgraded us and put us in a Jeep Wrangler. Which normally would have been fine, but I was traveling with my elderly grandparents. I went back to budget the following morning to ask about swapping the wrangler to the original car class we booked(compact suv), explaining that my my elderly handicapped grandparents couldn t get in and out of the vehicle(since a 4x4 wrangler sits a lot higher frame than a small suv). The first agent I talked to was very dismissive of my concern and said they basically were fully booked and couldn t help us... so your grandparents were basically out of luck. When I got back to my car I called the desk again to inquire about being put on a waitlist for a vehicle swap, again emphasizing that my handicap grandparents weren t able to get in and out of the vehicle. Lindsey apologized for the humbug and said to come back in because she was going to find a way to get us in another car. After I returned to the desk I was quickly moved into a vehicle that had a lower clearance for my grandparents. Thanks again Lindsey for all your hard work, I hope the first agent who refused to helped me can learn from your excellent example.

We recently reserved a car from this facility for our visit to the Black Hills and Badlands National Park. As our flight was delayed by 24 hrs., Budget still held the car for us for our eventual arrival. Check in went smoothly and quickly with no attempt made on the part of the Budget agent to sell us unwanted or unnecessary insurances or added services. The car was exceptionally clean with less than 6000 miles.and performed much like a new vehicle. Rapid Return could not have been easier or more convenient. Based upon our experience, I can not imagine better service from another rental car company, but when you apply the AARP discount, it would be a mistake to choose another rental company at RAP.

I now know why this company is called "Budget" car rental.I called to ask about renting a car. they had no cars for rent. this struck me funny as a car rental company with no cars .......I guess I'd also laugh if I went to McDonald's and they had no hamburgers for sale.anyways I wanted to know more...I was at the Best Western which is 9.9 miles from the airport where they are located and they do not offer any service for pick up or drop off of customer...I dont know much about car rental services but seems customer service isn't what it should be with these guys.probably be cheaper to Uber or lyft where I need to go anyway without the contract hassle.

I prepaid my rental car. When I went to pick it up they wouldn't rent it to me because I don't have a credit card. They couldn't use my debit car . So I cancelled the reservation. Their "policy" states the could keep the amount I prepaid. I had to call and argue that the only reason I cancelled the reservation is because of them so I should get my money back. I tried to rent the car. After much discussion they said they would refund my money with in 24 hours. I'll wait and see.

Had an awesome experience with Budget in Rapid City. Vehicle was better than expected and we accidently left behind a laptop and a fair amount of cash. They contacted us, were completely honest, and we got everything back other than a finder's fee I suggested. Thank you!!!!

Wish I had read reviews before booking with this place. Wouldn't allow me to rent because I dont have a major credit card. Asked if prepaid would work which they also denied... apparently cash is also out. So maybe they're a business that doesnt like getting paid except through credit cards? Not sure. Thinking back, they offered more ways to NOT take my money than they did trying to find ways to TAKE it. Sounds like a horrible business model. As far as helpfulness goes they didnt really offer any solutions.

Worst professional experience of my life. This company s inability to do their job cost us financial and emotional stress the first day of our vacation. Even after checking with corporate via 800-number they still lied and made mistakes. The manager at the desk was extremely condescending. I would never do business with this company or rent from them. They lied about their own policy and denied us of our reservation we made a month in advance.

I understand that sometimes things slip through the cracks, but I was given a dirty car. I have the pictures and the previous driver's contract that was left in it, as well as some of her things. I have given them every opportunity to make things right and they have refused. With the threat of COVID-19, I feel they should be more concerned with the state of their vehicles.

Hope you don't need help with.a flat tire. Their attitude was that we are on our own. Get it fixed yourself, and they MAY consider reimbursing me. Unwilling to swap for a new car. Real nice folks, eh? Stuck in Rapid City with a baby spare on my car.

DO NOT drop off without taking pictures of the car. Four months later we received demands for hail damage that did not occur while the car was in our possession. They took pictures and circled alleged damage as evidence, but it is nothing more than a picture of a car with circles drawn does not prove there are dents.

Horrible experience. The car was great but the staff and management was less than proffessional. They will try to trick you, nickle and dime you for every second as well as get you to pay for extra services you dont need at extreme high rates. Be cautious coming here or just avoid the headaches and go to another location and/or company.

I use Budget every where I travel. I can use a debit card and have never been charged a $200 fee for the use of a debit card like other car rentals will do. No thanks!

Was told they would only charge me for the gas that I used and that their gas was cheaper than at other gas stations. Returned the car with 3/4 tank full and was charged $30 for a quarter tank.

DO NOT rent from them. Once they get your credit card number, all kinds of charges appear on it. Anything to make a buck. I would never recommend them and wish I could give 0 stars
