I was SO disappointed! First, I had to deal with "if you had booked with us direct, you would have got the room you wanted"( highest floor, furthest from the elevator) We checked in at 4:28pm and I would swear it was a GREAT SACRIFICE to accommodate our request. [I booked thru a 3rd party because it's the same price and I get better rewards than booking direct]The room was good, but very perfumy. I had to leave the window open and the heater on to breathe. The hot tub was a big draw and a MAJOR disappointment. It was too hot, 2 minutes max, and the pool was too cold. I ended up taking a long hot shower instead. Save yourself dome money and go elsewhere. The amenities aren't that great!I booked the hotel to attend a funeral. Otherwise, I would avoid it like the plague.

They gave away the room we reserved to someone else an hour or so after we had booked it. We had booked the king suite so that we could have some separation and quiet between my young child and my extremely sleep deprived husband. We were ultimately moved to a double queen with a broken HVAC unit, and there were no other rooms available to move us into. The room was about 80 degrees all night and the HVAC unit wouldn't stop pumping in hot air regardless of what the thermostat settings were, which was extra tough since we had a little one with us. It was freezing rain out and there was an event with loud guests coming and going from the parking lot all night, so we couldn't open a window. They didn't have any roll-outs or cots available for young children, just a pack and play. The beds were on the hard side. The curtains weren't black-out and there were no blinds, so the street lights and signs across the street were shining brightly through the window all night. It was a busy Christmas weekend, and we just fell through the cracks with everything else going on. I suspect understaffed to serve all the reservations in addition to the event that was going on. Up sides, lots of nice amenities, nice 24/7 lobby that we were able to escape to to cool down, and the three employees we spoke to were very kind and listened, but they just couldn't seem to solve for the issues we encountered or weren't empowered to help, and one seemed to struggle with the basics of working register and finding guests in the system. We were promised a discount for the room mix-up, but I don't know that it was ever tendered, based on the pending transaction in my account. Overall, really disappointing in comparison to our previous stays.Safety: Poor/Unsafe temperature control.Noteworthy details: Has a small pool, gym, and breakfast bar.

The Grandstay Motel in Milbank, SD is one of the nicest motels I have ever stayed in. From the moment you walked into the lobby, everything was spotless. The staff at tge desk were highly professional and extremely courteous and helpful. The rooms were big and everything including the bathrooms was spotless. The bed were very comfortable but a little to high. The breakfasts were very nice with numerous hot and cold items to choose from. We has scrambled eggs and bacon one day and fresh biscuits and gravy another day. They had numerous cold cereals to choose from as well as an assortment of pastries, juices, coffee, yogurt and fresh fruits and plenty of kids snacks to pick from. We will definitely not hesitate to stay there again and I highly recommend this motel to others as it was absolutely perfect.

Really nice hotel, very clean, looks new and they had a lot of amenities. The room was very clean with plenty of towels. Had good air conditioning and hot water. The breakfast was great with all that you d expect. They have a nice seating area and welcoming environment. I highly recommend. The hotel was packed but we still enjoyed a quiet stay.

Call to book the reservation even got the confirmation. When it time to check in. We were told that the room we reserved is not clean until tomorrow night. We asked that we can clean the room since we had been traveling all day, but the front person said no. He and she offered the hotel across the street. The Lantern hotel was fully booked. We ask if there is any other room that is open. they say no, it all fully booked. If the rooms are fully booked, when I call to made the reservation more than 24 hrs ago, the room was available. I call the hotel directly. Not through Expedia or any other hotel app. There not much cars or trucks park outside the hotels. This is the first time we have a bad experience with this hotel. Did not even offer any future discounts since it was their fault for booking us a room even with the confirmation email and text message that our room was reserved with the invoice amount per night. Beware this hotel discriminate and racist to any one who is not white when they see that you are different color other than white.

1st stay at GrandStay Hotel this week - was blown away by the accomodations. I travel a lot and the hotel and staff was far above many hotels in the larger chain spectrum. Clean, Comfortable and Huge rooms. Lobby, Bar, Breakfast area was awesome. Staff was great to interact with - very friendly and helpful. Will stay again next time I am in the area.

Every time we stay here it's so comfortable. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful. The free breakfast in the mornings is always great. Lots of choices and great food. The best part for me is access to a paper newspaper to read while I'm eating or later in the day or evening. That is my way to relax in the evening is to get caught up with the news. Lots of places to sit in the lobby with lots of TV's and access to a computer and printer that is right there for you to see. I believe they have a beer and wine bar for a evening treat. There is our go to place to stay when we are in Milbank. Clean comfortable and friendly.

Amazing, small town hospitality with upscale decor and vibes. My husband and I loved staying here! We enjoyed the included tea and coffee bar, great breakfasts, fitness room, and pool/hot tub. Scanning the Milbank High School Yearbooks in the lobby for our relatives was also really fun. Highly recommend!

A brand new hotel in Milbank. It's kind of surprising that such a nice hotel is in such a small town. Not that small towns should have bad hotels. It's very lovely and our stay was enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable and the staff was friendly. In the morning at breakfast they turned the TV to cartoons for my daughter. My only complaint is that on our last day there the eggs in the breakfast had clearly been sitting there for awhile and had turned hard and crusty. Gross but not bad enough to alter my experience. The pool is nice but small. But a word of caution, the floor around the pool is very slippery. Walking slow and carefully I still managed to slip.

****If you find this helpful,Give me a thumbs up*****I Travel for a living, needless to say, I stay at alot of hotels. Im also a BIG REVIEWER,READ BELOW This was #2 worst experience ever staying at a hotel. Unfortunately this was for a vacation and not business; since I wanted to visit Watertown SD and see their fireworks this year with my boys.Firstly Expect $300+ Incidental Hold! HIGHEST I have ever seen.Hear me out on my experience and why I rated poorly. I called to switch my room a week in advance. I was told everything was noted and it's all good. Called on July 3rd and the lady from prior conversation NEVER DID ANYTHING; aka never switched my room that was available when I called a week in advance.Got in around 1AM on the 4th after being on the road all day (Booked rooms week in advance). I WASN'T EVEN GREETED at this hotel!!!My husband was told to not bother the lady at the front desk, even if we need help or have questions. WHHAAATT????WE DID NOT FEEL WELCOME OUR WHOLE ENTIRE STAY!!!! At all hotels I see the front desk employees often and we always chat!PROS: Hot Shower, kind of comfy bed, great hot tub, pool area & very clean.CONS: Front desk people are always grouchy and hidden away. Mediocre breakfast Super small, cramped rooms. They need better shampoo and conditioner (I always bring my own). I just have never seen such low quality ones at a hotel. My husband usually uses hotel shampoo and conditioner; he wouldn't use it, not even body soap. Employees don't pay attention to breakfast, food sits in warmer for an extended period and becomes hard. Ice Machine is located only on the first floor (never seen this done before) (usually on all floors).

This is undoubtedly the place to stay in Milbank (and surrounding area). We stayed here in June 2021 and the hotel seemed brand new. I m not sure exactly when it was built, but it can t be more than a year or two old. The breakfast was very good and the pool area was great for our young family of 5 (it would be great for all ages). If I had been traveling for business, the small bar area would have been a great place to unwind. If I m ever in the area again, this is where I ll stay.

I'm a long term Marriott employee (since 1986) and have to say that the rooms at this hotel are very comparable to a room at a Marriott. My room was very clean and nice. It's refreshing to have such a nice hotel in Milbank, SD. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. I've stayed at other hotels in Milbank and this is, by far, the best in the area.

If I could give more Stars for our experience at "Grand Stay", I certainly would do so! A number of family members came to Milbank for a Funeral, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made a difficult time easier to deal with. The rooms are very comfortable and attractive, the amenities are excellent, and the entire "feel" of Grand Stay is relaxing and cozy. We are particularly appreciative of being able to use the gathering room for family members to visit following the Funeral and burial. Kudos to the staff at the Milbank, SD Grand Stay for their consideration to our needs. Keep up the good work!
