This place is awesome!! A homey feel that you don't find at other places. Also very clean and a great value. Tammy and Cine are so friendly, accommodating, and give great advice on the area's attractions. Cine always put out a great breakfast of cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, and good coffee. We didn't just stay at a place, we made friends. A hidden gem. Would definitely stay at Battle Creek Lodge when in that area.

Absolutely amazing place to stay! Tammy & Cine we're so nice and made our stay perfect. The rooms were nice, clean and cozy. Had a bottle toss game outside our room that the kids played. Although we didn't get a chance to use the fire pit on the patio it was very nice hang out area. Delicious giant cinnamon rolls for breakfast along with fresh cut fruit and coffee for us and chocolate milk for the kids. Our hosts were so friendly and talked and hung out with the kids and even gave them some cool rose quartz stones as a souvenir. We also bought some super cute hoodies they had. The only disappointment I had was that we couldn't stay longer! If your visiting this area definitely stay here for a more personal touch than a plain hotel.

So many great things to say about this place! First off, we arrived late in the evening without a reservation and they were extremely kind and accommodating. The lodge is run by Cine and Tammy who are just about the most sweet people you could ever meet.You get free fresh baked goods, coffee, and juice in the morning. Enjoy it and the fresh air on the second floor deck. If you want a little something extra, the cinnamon rolls are worth it! Parking is right out front and there s plenty. It s pretty much walking distance from everything, but a good distance away from the bustle and noise of the Main Street. It truly is a lodge experience. Definitely recommend this place!Thank you Cine and Tammy for your hospitality!! - The kids in 24

Tammy and Cine are incredible hosts! They made us feel like we were family! The lodge is quaint and rustic on the outside as are the rooms and the lobby. The breakfasts are delicious! Our queen bed was wonderful! The wrap around porch is a great place to sit and relax after a long day of touring and driving steep winding roads! We highly recommend this not a big name place for their incredible personal touch!

First, the location was great! Second the owners were super nice and more than accommodating! The first and second could also be switched around. There was a unexpected cancellation that allowed us to book with them and we would definitely stay with them again! The room was very clean, keyless entry and great homemade breakfast options. We were greeted by owner, Cine every morning. We asked about day trips and she gave recommendations that included lunch stops! Although it's on a busier road, you really don't hear the traffic--it's built into the mountainside.

Perfect Place to Stay when Visiting the Black Hills!!!My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Battle Creek Lodge. We stayed for a week in June 2021. Cine & Tammy went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean, very comfortable and every morning we were greeted with a wonderful breakfast in the lobby. We loved the wrap around porch and outdoor sitting area. It is an excellent property and conveniently located close to all the great places in the Black Hills. I highly recommend this Lodge for anyone looking to visit Keystone and Black Hills area. I will definitely stay at Battle Creek Lodge when I come back to South Dakota!!!

We loved staying at Battle Creek Lodge for our family vacation! Tammy and Cine were very accommodating and just a phone call/text away if we needed anything. Cine s takeaway breakfasts were delicious and very filling (hot breakfast sandwiches/burritos, always with yogurt, fruit, and drinks). They were very personable, and we loved chatting with them every morning. They welcomed our twin 5yo girls with open arms. Thank you, Tammy and Cine for a great vacation!

I and my spouse spent our 1st year Anniversary in keystone, S.D at Battle creek lodge. Had a awesome time!Our hosts " Cine & Tammy" were amazing and surprised Randy and I with a scrumptious and wonderful marble tray of cheeses, meats, crackers and fruit,Thank you lady's for your wonderful gift and wonderful accommodations.Rory & Randy

What a WONDERFUL place. I had direct contact with Tammy and she didn t do anything but take all of the burden of a vacation stay and make it fast, fun, and easy. This place rocks and so does Tammy. 6/5 stars from me.Safety: N/A

This was our first time staying at Battle Creek and in Keystone and we had an awesome experience! The lodge is in a great location - short walk to the main street in Keystone, short drive to Mt. Rushmore, Hill City, etc. The owners were amazing and provided great conversation, recommendations, and directions over breakfast (Which blew us away by the way! Homemade breakfast burritos and biscuits and gravy were on the menu for us and we were very impressed!) and we ended up meeting some of the other guests and enjoying a couple drinks on their adorable patio by the fire. Highly recommend Battle Creek Lodge and we will definitely be booking again whenever we return to Keystone!

Love this lodge and the owners! Great views, quiet and peaceful surroundings and warm, hospitable hosts. Would give 5 stars if the visit hadn't been during Covid where we could've enjoyed the whole experience of breakfast in the lodge and such, but things were limited, otherwise, it was fantastic! I would definitely stay there again! You won't meet 2 nicer people than Tammy and Cine!

Loved it!! My wife and I enjoyed our 4 nights at the Lodge. As one reviewer wrote it isn't luxurious but the charm makes up the difference. So enjoyed spending a few moments each day with Tammy's dog, Peanut. And we will most definitely return to the Black Hills and Battle Creek Lodge will be where we stay.

Best spot in the Hills--we always stay there (just had our fifth visit). Owners are awesome and provide a very, very comfortable environment. Also, great location. Perfect jumping-off place to go just about anywhere in the Hills. This is the place to stay!!!!!!We got to go out to BCL twice this summer and both trips were outstanding. Tammy and Cine are the best. Skip the big box spots and stay with your new friends.

We were here in 2015. Our motor home broke down and we stumbled on to Battle Creek Lodge. The owners were wonderful, they went out of their way to take care of us till we got our wheels fixed and were able to get back on the road. The Lodge was clean and comfortable and breakfast was outstanding. If you need a place to stay in Keystone while visiting Mount Rushmore you cannot go wrong staying here.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cancel our rental property last minute and Tammy, the property manager from Battle Creek Lodge and Vacation Rentals, was so accommodating and amazingly understanding!! We were moving from Alaska back to the lower 48 and were exhausted from our trip as we were passing through SD and she worked tirelessly with us the night of our stay to find us the perfect place to stay with our pet! Some other places we have stayed in during our travels would not have been so accommodating and would not have worked with us to get a refund but she was so understanding and helpful in finding us another place to stay that night! She then worked with us for nearly a month to help us get the appropriate refund from AirBnB, which is who we booked through! If we could go back in time, we would have booked directly through Battle Creek Lodge because their customer service was supreme! Her and her team are amazing, highly recommend!

The Battle Creek Lodge is a perfect location to stay if visiting Mt. Rushmore, Devil's Tower and surrounding sites. Tammy and Cine are welcoming and attentive. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Food and beverage options are within walking distance or a short drive away. I visited during Covid times and was confident with their procedures.

What a wonderful surprise!! Tammy and Cine made us feel right at home! We walked in and got the last room in town and discovered new friends. Clean, neat, well appointed room with coffee and fridge. Lots of love and detail to establish that perfect lodge feeling. Breakfast each morning was our opportunity to plan our day with Cine and Tammy including directions AND where to eat while on the road. What a treasure we have discovered. Thank you!!!

We stayed here two nights in July 2021. We had booked a, not so good, Airbnb in Hot Springs, SD. So, after several hours of searching for a new place to stay I was so lucky to find The Historic Ice House in Keystone, SD. This was one of the coolest places I have ever stayed. We had our three teenage daughters with us and it was the perfect size. Upon check-in there was a small snafu but they were so quick to fix it that I was blow away by the service. I will always try to book a spot with any of the vacation rentals that Battle Creek have in Keystone! Thank you so much for saving our family trip and giving us wonderful memories!

The owner was super. A older Lodge but super clean convienent to places to eat, shop an can walk to everything . TWO miles to Mount Rushmore. GREAT PRICE for this area. They send reminders of reservations. The only negative hard to reach after 3:00. I definitely would stay there again an suggest to friends.

If you are looking for a small lodge with that personal touch and where guests often gather to chat either at night on the deck or in the morning over breakfast then definitely check out Battle Creek Lodge.Tammy and Cine are the ultimate hosts and work hard to make sure you are comfortable while on your visit. They also offer off site rentals from small one bedroom cabins to family sized homes for those group get aways.

This places is just beautiful, my partner and I stayed there for two nights and we don't regret it. We met one of the owners and she was so sweet, kind and helpful with us. We will definitely stay at this place when we go back to SD. The location is also close to the amount Rushmore, the 1880 train station, and other fun places in South Dakota.

Lodging at Battle Creek Lodge (BCL) in 2018 with my folks, we were not sure what to expect last week with all the 2020 changes. However, we had another fabulous vacation!! Too many positives to list so will mention our top 2 - BCL Owners and Location. The owners are friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable! Recommendations can include tourist attractions or local dining off the strip. Options for travel can include fastest, scenic or maps to include all the surrounding areas of Rapid City, Deadwood, Spearfish, Hill City... The owners can accommodate to those who wish to remain contactless to those who enjoy a breakfast (amazing fresh fruit and cinnamon rolls!!!) together and chat about adventures taken or planned. All while following regulations to protect guest and team member safety. As a nurse, I greatly appreciated this aspect! This time we noted they have numerous rental cabins in various locations so that could be a wonderful option as well.Within walking distance of the strip, I chose to read in one of the numerous provided quiet sitting locations - colorful flowers and forest tree smells - and a deer or 2 meandering through. Some people wore masks, some did not but everyone was pleasant, respectful of distance and seemed to be enjoying the amazing beauty of Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills. As with all locations, Keystone has been hit with staff shortages but it was so wonderful to see owners including BCL helping their team members to continue to provide excellent customer service. BCL remains the perfect location to enjoy all of our SD Black Hills adventures!!!

Was not impressed with place. Room was dirty, stuff on carpets, spiders on wall. Running along floor, my niece was scared, asked for different room , they were booked. Had reserved the room 6 months in advance for a room off the road.. got a room , right on the road. Very noisy. But have to say, the Woman that ran it were very nice. Breakfast was nothing much. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. We left 1 day early. I was so hoping to like this place from the pictures & location .
