I ve consulted with the Small Engine Doctor many times regarding issues I have with the equipment I own. The Doc has always been super professional and provides sound wisdom.Recently, my wife bought one of those electric mowers, so hopefully we don t have any issues going forward. But I m not sure I like the electric mower. The batteries don t maintain a charge long enough to mow all the grass I have. Will probably be going back to combustible engine in the near future, and if I do, you can betcha I ll be asking the Small Engine Doc for any issues I have.

Update posted 05-23-2023 Josh left something loose on my mower (I suspect the driveshaft bolts) which ruined the motor and resulted in an additional bill of $4,254.29 paid to the local John Deere dealer. I wanted my money back from Small Engine Doc so I filed in Small Claims Court. Instead of standing behind his work, Josh counter sued me for $12,008.48. He lost, and now almost 3 months after the judgement, he still hasn't paid me. Please be aware of the kind of businessman that Josh has shown himself to be. Scroll down and see what happens when you question Josh's work.----------------------- Original posting from November 2022.I had Small Engine Doc repair an oil leak in my John Deere F687 mower. I paid $466.71 when I picked it up. Took it home to mow and after a short time mowing the engine came loose so I took the mower back to Small Engine Doc. Josh said he felt that a vibration in the mower deck caused the engine to come loose, so I took the deck along when I picked up the mower after the second repair but Josh refused to let me put the deck on so he could confirm the vibration. In fact he indicated that the motor now had a vibration, which he said that he would not fix for me, and that he didn't want me as a customer. The only way to get my mower back from Small Engine Doc was to pay an additional $477.77 even though, in the course of events, I was told there would be no charge for the second repair. I paid the second bill to get my mower back, and then took my mower home. Within 5 minutes after starting to mow, the motor seized up. I then took the mower to the local John Deere dealership and they diagnosed the issue with the motor as broken connecting rods and said that I needed a new motor. I explained what had transpired with Small Engine Doc and the John Deere dealer agreed to replace the motor and check the mower over for any other issues. After replacing the motor, the dealership said there was no deck vibration and that there was nothing else that they could find wrong with the mower. It cost me $4,254.29 to put a new motor in the mower on top of $944.49 paid to Small Engine Doc for the repair. The mower works fine after putting in a new motor and did not require any other repairs.I get the fact that sometimes things gets missed, but Josh's refusal to even consider that he may have been the cause, and the JD Dealership's findings that the motor did not come loose because of deck vibration, but instead was likely caused by improper reinstallation after the first repair, makes me want to warn everyone that Josh Duus and Small Engine Doc probably isn't the best place to take a small engine that needs repair.
