Terrible experience with this location. I specifically selected Pope Davis because I was told that I could trust them to be careful and not damage painted and rims. I had my rims painted 3 weeks before taking my car to Pope Davis for new tires. We specifically told them that the rims were painted and confirmed that they had equipment to protect the rims. However, when I picked up my car, all 4 rims had varying degrees of damage - significant chips and scuffs in the paint. When we brought this to the attention of the employee checking us out, he did get the store manager, who then proceeded to argue with us, saying that the technician wrote a statement on the documentation that there was damage to the rim prior to us bringing it in, which was a complete lie. These rims were freshly painted and had absolutely zero damage prior to dropping the car off with Pope Davis. I truly believe the rims were damaged when they either took off the old tires, or put on the new tires, or a combination of both. And, in order to protect themselves, the documentation was then added to the paperwork after the damage occurred. This is the first issue I ve ever had with a tire company and needless to say I am very upset. The store manager said that he was going to contact the store owner to discuss the damage, so we will see if they resolve this appropriately. For now, I am absolutely 100% disappointed with the service at this Pope Davis, and would recommend taking your car elsewhere.In response to their reply Let me add a few things. First of all, those chips and scratches were not present prior to me dropping the car off at Pope Davis. And I have pictures to show that. This is not standard road damage and it was not present prior to them taking possession of my car. The rims were freshly painted three weeks prior to this episode, and they were pristine. I did not have any rock or curb damage at all.Secondly, as an additional comment on the quality of their work, within 24 hours of picking up my car my air pressure alarm went off. When I filled up my tires, none of them were the same pressure - varying from 28 to 40 psi. Also, the valve stem cover on one of the tires was not screwed down on all the way. This is just further commentary on how bad the service was that I received.

3 weeks for an oil leak. Got the car back, still leaking, parts missing. 3 weeks later still leaking. Air intake still missing, screws, and bolts missing. Sent car to lexington location, cam back Stull leaking. They did order the intake. Told me there's a ticket in engine, and they didn't know if it came in with that. Throw $2600 out the window.

This shop was so helpful!!! Both of my back tires had deflated a bit so I took my car here to get the tires checked and replaced if necessary. Within an hour both my tires had been checked and one was patched/plugged. As a woman I m always a little skeptical of taking my car in, but they were helpful, fast, and incredibly affordable to work with, plus they told me exactly how they fixed my tire!! This might be my go-to store now! Five stars!! Highly recommend.Service: Tires

Straightforward pricing, friendly people, and excellent communication. Let's be honest, a five-star rating for a garage does not mean this is Disney World. You won't spend your week looking forward to going to Pope Davis on the weekend. But when you need someone to tell you straight up the facts, and to follow through to do what they say they will do, this place does it. Not only do they give you a printout of your service, they email it to you, and they make it available to you online along with past service and service on other vehicles. You may get this sort of technology in some ridiculously priced dealerships, but to be able to manage all your vehicles and the vehicle service in one place is amazing!I have had three cars service here, some more routine then others. I was also able to shop online for a set of new tires, and they put them on in good time and at the price that I found them for on the web. No surprises, no excuses, and excellent tires.

Without exaggeration, I would describe the work performed by Pope Davis as the result extreme incompetence or deliberate sabotage. A simple exhaust repair was performed here. The staff failed to reattach both an air sensor and a coolant line. Luckily, I discovered these issues before major damage occurred.A few weeks later, I was not so lucky. Improperly tightened bolts became disconnected, ultimately ruining a new catalytic converter. Against my better judgement, I reported these problems to the staff, and they assured me that they would be happy to address the issues. Upon arrival however, I was told I would now need to return a third time. No thank you.I attempted to report my experience to their central office. No response was ever received. I have since performed the needed repairs in my driveway. Almost every single part they touched has required attention. I will never let Pope Davis anywhere near my vehicles again. If you don t want your simple repair to explode into a calamity of expensive problems, I advise you to do the same.Note, the picture of the ruptured catalytic converter was taken after repair attempts were made. Great group of people. They were courteous and professional when I walked in. They acknowledged me right away. The guys at the counter were quick and asked what I needed to get done. They weren't pushy about their other services. I was in and out in under an hour for a oil change and tire rotation. I'm a woman, and I was alone that day, I felt perfectly safe. They weren't trying to swindle me into buying all these "extra" services like they do at the dealerships. All in all a really good experience.

I paid for a diagnosis on my car. They told me it was the battery. I changed the battery but that was not the problem. They then told me it was my starter. I bought a starter and gave it to them to install. They told me the starter was bad...So got another starter. The manager told me they would test the starter before they put it in. I feel that they should test all starters before install. They also charged me double labor. I WOULD NOT recommend this place to absolutely anyone.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Had a tire repaired on my first visit. Everyone was great and their prices are very reasonable. After the awesome customer service, I decided to bring our truck there to get the tires balanced. They had me in and out fast. I will be using Pope-Davis Tire again when my oil is due to be changed.

This is my first time at this establishment. I was in need of new tires ASAP due to a screw in my tire. I was going to go to my family friends body shop to get new tires but they could not get me in until Tuesday. When I got to the establishment the people were extremely friendly and professional. The service was very fast, i believe I was only there for maybe an hour and 30 minutes. I will definitely be coming back in the future!Service: Tires

I went in for a second opinion after a previous shop I went to told me I needed over $1,000 worth of repairs done. I had a check engine light and a bad vibration. Turns out I just needed my tires balanced and Adam went over the check engine light with me throughly and made sure I was comfortable and understood what was happening with my car. Absolutely wonderful service I will definitely use them for everything in the future. Adam definitely knew what he was talking about and knew how to make sure I understood what he was saying and answered every question I had. After everything was all said and done I ended up only spending $200 so thank you to everyone at Pope Davis for the wonderful help!Services: Tires, Auto engine diagnostic

Do not use this business. They do not always have a mechanic available. They replaced my front axles on my Toyota Sienna Van in September of 2021. The car broke down with my son driving it 3 weeks ago. The drivers side axle had completely come out. I left several messages with Nathan, the owner who would not call me back. I spoke to Justin. The manager, who said he would try to help me out with getting some money back on the failed part. As of today he has not. Today while driving the car I hard more noise under the vehicle and took it in. Now the other axle has failed. I tried again to call Nathan who did not return my call. My repairs on two year failed axles and a seal which apparently wasn t changed during the first repair are now going to total 1400. In addition to this they told me I had a bent rear axle. I waited for months for them to call me back for this repair. They said they were looking for the part. They never called me back even after repeated attempts by me to call them. I finally took the van to two more places that stated nothing was wrong with the axle. They seldom have a mechanic on site. I have expensive repairs now to pay for on work they did. The owner, whom I m referred to when I asked who to go to over the store manager, has not returned any of my phone calls. More concerning is the extremely poor work I have received on a vehicle my son drives. I would be totally concerned for anyone getting auto repairs done at this place.What is said in response is not true. Both axles went bad. There was no trauma. My son was driving down the street and the left axle spontaneously came out on him. I did not bring it to your shop then or when the other side messed up because your manager insisted the same part would be used. I tried calling you multiple times but you ignored me. Neither the place that repaired the axle nor your manager claimed the axle was damaged (like said, I brought him the axle). I have the other axle as well. No claim of damage incurred.Service: General repairs & maintenance

SIMPLY AMAZING!!! We were met instantly with a smile and taken care of very quickly. We are from out of town and the dust guard/splash shield came off my car while here for an appointment. Cool comfortable place to wait. It was recommended by a friend and I will recommende it to others as well.

No need to look anywhere else for quality, punctuality, and professionalism. Vincent is a great store manager, getting me in and out quickly even though the supplier initially sent the wrong tire. It was a warranty issue too (due to our infamously large potholes in S.C.), so he wasn't out to make a lot of money. He was just interested in creating an excellent customer service experience. Let me start by saying this review is only due to my follow up visit the day after buying $1400 in tires. Initial visit was great Justin and Madison were great! The follow up due to broken valve stems that should have been replaced initially was terrible. Daysha* has a terrible attitude and the tech that handled my valve stem replacement on 1 of the 4 I needed replaced was also less the stellar. Finished the tire repair and proceeded to roll the tire into the showroom and walk off leaving it rolling through the store. So needless to I won't be back to this location. ASSEMBLY ST though is the place to take your vehicle.

I took my car to Pope-Davis Tire & Automotive on Lake Murray about a month ago. They told me my car tire had one nail in it and that it cannot be fixed. They sold me a tire for $129 which Walmart sells for $75. Today I took the same car again and they told me I have 2 nails in a tire and that it cannot be fixed and that I have to buy a new tire. I told them no. Instead I came to Mavis Tires & Breaks on Woodrow St in Irmo and they fixed it for $25 and told me I only had one nail in my tire. Be aware of Pope-Davis on Lake Murry. They try to scam you and only want to sell their tires.

I dread dealing with anything automotive related esp since my boyfriend is overseas. I don't know a lot about cars and I don't pretend to and others in my situation may find themselves taken advantage of by some mechanic shops. However, I used to deal with Pope Davis years ago and since they were always honest and did a great job in the past, I decided to try them again once I moved back to this side of town. I have used them twice in the last couple of months and BOTH times they were very honest, upfront, and took great care of my car. They had an opportunity to overcharge me TWICE because others said I needed certain services completed on my car, when in fact I did not. I'm not sure how they compare to other shops as far as price because I will only take my car to them now. Even if they are a little more expensive it is worth it to me to pay more for the integrity that I have witnessed first hand. I'm sorry to hear that others had such bad experiences but I'm very pleased and I trust them to charge me fairly and accurately. Furthermore, I highly recommend them! If I had any complaints, it would be the wait BUT I understand the dynamics of a mechanic shop so I just drop my car off and make other plans for my day. Easy enough!

I shared my review on Yelp as well. I want to thank Jason, Madison, and new Adam for a job well done! They went out of their way to fix my old Chevy Silverado truck that once belonged to my late brother. This truck means the world to me! Very Helpful and Professional! Clean and well lite area! The front service advisors was very helpful. The mechanic was very Impressed and knowledgeable of my tire situation. I didn't know that your spare tire also need air as well! am looking forward to my next visit!

I was in their own time and they took the vehicle straight in and got it out in a very timely manner. They gave me a workstation so I could use my computer and finish some work while I waited. Their attitude and workmanship was excellent and the price was exactly what we had discussed prior to setting up the appointment. A change in my "old tire place" led me to try out Pope Davis.. since I've heard so much about them. I was not disappointed. Professional work, Friendly Service, all the cliches that you hear about but never appreciate to you receive them. The suggested set of tires was absolutely what I was looking for and the fact that they did a four wheel tire, alignment, brake and rotor job in the same day, ahead of schedule really impressed me.

I came in to get my truck leveled (only shop that would mess with it due to it being twin ibeam suspension). Talked to Justin and he took care of me.
