I've never wanted to bring my car to a mechanic because I've always feared of being overcharged. I've done all of the work on my own cars and maintain them ever since I started driving. I developed a car hobby and even started building my own project car, I got to the point where I needed to dyno tune and start seeing what my project car could actually do and I brought it to them and I will never regret this decision

After speaking with many shops to figure out where to bring my car in for work, I decided to go with Charleston Performance Solutions. They sounded like they understood what needed to be done; the Armytrix exhaust needed special wiring to control the valve. I am very happy I chose them. I brought my 2018 Civic Type R in on a Friday afternoon to have the stock exhaust swapped for the aftermarket one. Later that same day they called to say that the work was finished and my car was ready to pick up. When I went back on Saturday to pick up my car the work was completed beyond expectation. The new exhaust was installed and wired up so that none of the wires were even visible. They told me to bring it back the following week to double check the system (since exhaust bolts have a tendency to loosen). I am extremely happy and satisfied with the work they did. A fair quote was given and the technicians were extremely friendly, professional, and knew exactly what they were doing.UPDATE: Because they did such a fantastic job installing the exhaust, I brought my car back in for additional work getting a Mishimoto Air Intake installed. Once again they did a fantastic job! Whole staff is extremely nice and professional and do fantastic work. Fair price for install. Accommodated my work schedule and had it finished ready to pick up a few hours later.

I have a 2013 Chevy Caprice PPV which was tuned at here and I must say the results are phenomenal. The car s shift points have been drastically improved and the crew at CPS is great and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

I searched online and saw these guys were close to my location. I read the reviews and saw all the positive feedback. I recently had Matt and his team do a custom double x pipe, 3in vibrant performance tubing, v-bands, and mufflers, ending with the 5in black carven tips. The end result compared to the OEM exhaust is a very unique and clean sound. They took the time to really work on it and not rush through it. I m very happy with the results. Definitely see these guys for your car performance tuning. I ll be back when I m ready to do more tuning

Brought my 6th gen Camaro in for some work and a tune. The owner and techs were incredibly informative and enthusiastic. Picked up some good power at a good price point, would 100% recommend this shop.

After several months of getting the run around by another "performance" tuning business I gave up and took my business somewhere else. I called CPS and spoke with Matt and explained my situation. He was straight forward and honest with me about the expectations for my vehicle and we came to an agreement and scheduled work on my vehicle within 2 weeks. Fast forward to the day of work and I was unsure of the time frame for completion....well, Matt gave me an eta that they hit on the dot! The results were beyond my expectations! I had a pesky O2 code after custom exhaust work that was wrecking havoc on my drivability. They fixed that completely along with squeezing out some more horsepower and torque. They tamed my unruly caddy and now the car is an absolute pleasure to drive! I asked for quality work at a fair price with honest expectations and the guys at CPS delivered 1000%! Good work takes time and they delivered. If you don't have time and realistic expectations and only want a rush job.....go somewhere else. If you want it done right...then go see CPS!.....Also, if you need full custom exhaust work check out Sean(sorry bud if i spelled that wrong) next door with Nth Degree Fabrication. He quickly hooked me up with installing my chrome tips and at a fair price!

Been here twice and both experiences were awesome. A while back I popped the slave cylinder in my Genesis. CPS replaced that, the clutch, and a few other small things I brought in, and I was back on the road the next day. Today, they adjusted the exhaust on my Mustang to close up a leak and resolve a little overhang. No job too big or task too small for these guys. The techs are fast, friendly, and knowledgeable, and Matt is a straight shooter who won't try to upsell you. Recommend this shop 100%.Services: Exhaust, General repairs & maintenance

In December of 2020 I contacted Charleston performance solutions and spoke with Nick, he and i discussed my situation i just went through with B&C automotive in sumter Sc, he said thats unfortunate and we'll take care of you. I asked nick could they look over the work B&C did he said yes, so we scheduled a date for it to be towed to them. Once again i was asked for payment up front for them to get started which I had no issue with doing cause this is business. In January I was back stationed Stateside during this time i was in Washington state for school, again i didn't harash this company to see how things were going. When i came home for leave in February 2020 before reaching my final duty station i visited the company to see how things were going on my vehicle and they hadnt even touched it. at this time i was able to speak with the owner whom had a very nasty attitude towards me from the start sayin "we dont promise finish dates we do things right here" with that being said we went back and forth on customer relations and how a paying customer should be treated and considering the fact that his shop did not deliver on time as promised and how yet again i had to have another rental car as he said "that's not my problem like i said we do things right here". We exchanged a few more words respectfully and i left after that.Once they finally got going on my vehicle they came a upon an issue with the transmission they saw that the line pressures were off, Matt came to the conclusion something was broken in the brand new transmission. I had them pull the transmission and ship it back to the manufacture for inspection. Once Gearstar (manufacture) inspected the transmission it was determined the vehicle had been driven with half its transmission fluid capacity causing internal damages. Gearstar released a statement to me explaining what they found and there determination of what caused it along with a repair bill I had to pay for. After i paid Gearstar they shipped it out to Charleston performance when they recieved the transmission it some time to reinstall as well awaiting their programmer for testing. For 6 weeks my vehicle sat in the care of this business i called multiple times prior to all the issues Sc was facing with covid 19 to no avail. Nor did i receive any communication from this business about closures of down time due to covid 19 other than from there voicemail when i called finally i received a call the June 5th from Matt. He stated " hey your vehicle is good we dyno'd it everything is fine but you have a big stall converter on there" i was confused at his statement as i know what was installed in the transmission but he assured me everything was working properly even said he drove the vehicle. On 8 jun my father picked up the vehicle from Charleston performance and drove it from Charleston to sumter my hometown. I arrived in south Carolina on the 19th to pick up my vehicle. Immediately after starting the vehicle i noticed many alerts and codes on my dash computer codes that Matt said were taken care on top of that when i put the vehicle in gear the indicator for which gear i was in didn't work secondly the vehicle was hard to move. I immediately called Charleston performance to speak with someone and once again to no avail i was left in dark on the technical issues this company said were fixed.I called Gearstar again to speak with there tech he let me know that transmission was more than likely starting in third gear hence the reason it was so hard to move he then let know he wasnt able to explain the wiring fiasco i was looking at which was no problem. I contacted Speartech the company that manufactured an adapter I bought for the transmission to attach the stock vehicle harness to in order to operate the vehicle without cutting wires. I spoke with justin and showed him pictures of what they did he said they should not have done any of that there was no reason cut any wires of splice into theirs. I have called Charleston Charleston performance several times times since June 20th and no one will take my call

I planned a Dyno Day for our Car Club spoke with Matt S. over the course of a few months which he invited us with open arms. Fast forward to the Dyno Day, we had help from the whole crew, everyone getting along cracking jokes and hanging out. We brought 14 vehicles to dyno. The guys were set up and ready to go as soon as we turned the corner to the garage. Nice Place, good people!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning

Matt and his team at Charleston Performance Solutions are great! I usually don t write reviews but I had to for this business; they are great to work with, very communicative throughout the whole process of having your car, quality service and work, and great turn around times! I have taken my 2019 Mustang GT to them 3 times; VCT solenoid replacement, Valve Cover Gasket replacement, and recently there was a clunking noise that was really bothering me and I took my car to them and the problem was solved within 2-3 hours! I will always recommend anyone to take there car here for modifications/repairs! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

Not too bad for a circus. Infuriating experience at the Dyno day they hosted. Readouts on charts w/ no rpm/torque curve, issues with payment, overall impression that they didn't know what they're doing and are unprepared for even the slightest amount of business. Friendly but dangerously incompetent. Had to straighten out the boot prop rod on our Lotus after the run when the dude tried forcefully shutting it with the prop rod still up, damn near bending it in half.Fabricator next door was super friendly and knowledgeable though, he'll be getting my business.Overall had a lot of potential, but I get a lot of vibes that this place is "I know I guy who could do it cheaper" with a storefront.

Brought in my 2011 Mustang GT recently to Charleston Performance for valve cover gasket replacement and A/C replacement, along with some diagnostic and tuning related services. Matt and his team did an excellent job correcting previous work done by other shops on the car before I owned it. When first dropping the car off, it was quite obvious that these guys stay busy, as there were many other cars that were in the process of working on/waiting to be worked on. With that being said, I did my best to remain patient over the course of the repair process, as I knew my car was only one of many that these guys had on their plate. Communication from Matt was sufficient overall, and he was fully transparent with me throughout the whole repair process. I got the car back a couple of days ago, and I am very pleased with the work they did on it. To anyone considering this shop, I, along with many others, highly recommend them. However, if you aren't mature and patient enough to understand that delayed parts and other supply chain issues can cause backups with these types of shops, then you should just take your business to one of the many shady and mediocre repair shops you hear about instead.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Auto A/C replacement

Had a muffler delete done by CPS on my 6.2L trail boss. Truck now sounds great (no longer like a vacuum cleaner). They got me in on a Saturday AM on only a week and a half notice and finished quicker than anticipated. Good guys to deal with, I may be back for more work in the future.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

I can t commend these guys enough. It must be a requirement to be nice to work at this place. These guys answered any question, even the dumb ones. Helped me out so much in so many different ways. I ve talked to a lot of shops in the Charleston and this is the only one who will respond every time quickly and correctly. You can easily tell they care about their customer. They don t just see dollar signs when you come in they see an enthusiast who wants their car taking care of.Services: Auto engine tuning, Engine repair

BEWARE!!! Wow! Where do I begin with this shop first red flag was when I pulled up and seen about 30 cars sitting out front. I ve reached out to the owner (Matt) on numerous occasions about rodents getting into my vehicle, and at that time Matt the owner mentioned that he ll fix it or pay to have it fixed. It s going on a year and I have yet to hear anything back from the owner (Matt). My car sat there for about 2 months without anyone touching it or any progress being made. I also paid for my service in full before my vehicle was even dropped off. Please tell me what kind of shop has their customers bring their own tool box to work on their own car. To all my soldiers in arm please BEWARE OF THIS SHOP!!! I do not recommend this shop or anyone to take their vehicle to this shop. This shop will BS you and waste your time and money. If I could give 0 stars I would. If your looking for a reputable shop with great service and quality work I recommend going to CPR performance , because this shop is money and time well spent.Services: Auto engine tuning, Engine repair

Best decision I ever made for my car to take it here. The shop may not look like much from the outside, but inside you have technicians who KNOW what they're doing and if you get a tune from them, they stop at almost nothing to make sure it's done right for your car. Calling all car enthusiasts to use this business and help them grow to help more cars. 10/10 recommend for ANYTHING you need done with your car for performance.Services: Exhaust, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine tuning, Body & Trim, Battery

Matt, just a note to let you know how happy I am with the job you did on my 2014 Corvette Stingray. The new exhaust system and the E85 conversion are doing great. Really enjoying the extra power and growl! But mostly it was the friendly service and professionalism shown by you and your people that make it easy for me to hardly recommend Charleston Performance Solutions to any and all car lovers! It was the most fun I ever had spending money on my car!Services: Exhaust, Engine repair

Bad experience - I'll keep this kind of short.I drove 1 1/2 hours from a military installation to take my car there in good running condition for a simple rebuild, in which all parts were already supplied by me. (Pistons, rods, bearings, gaskets etc..). A job that should of taken 1-4 months tops ended up being around 10 months total. They had my car from March 2017-December 2017. I feel they take in more customers/projects than they can handle with a staff of 2-3 mechanics. All services on my car was paid for in advance or when requested by the shop manager (Stupid of me). Customer service was below sub par, and did not keep me in the loop as promised. They hydro locked my engine back in September 2017 which caused headaches, wasted time, and excuses as to why. This in turn led me to terminate all services and take my car/parts away from this shop and bring it else where. In December 2017, I took my engine to a local machine shop and after further inspections, the machine shop reported back with findings of a cracked block. I would not recommend doing business ever again with CPS, but if you must good luck.

Edit: lowered to 3 stars. While the install was timely the wiring was sloppy and dangled inches above the pavement. Had to secure it myself. Will not be returning because work friends have had similar or greater issues.Had an Air Fuel ratio gauge installed. The response time to set an appointment was very quick. Only took a few minutes to drop my car off and they were done with it in about 2 hours. Friendly servicemen. Will be returning if I need anything else done

These guys know their stuff for sure! I had an 81 Z28 with the 350 4bbl carb timed by these guys and man!..... The difference is night and day. They installed my headers, zoom mufflers, and crane cam as well. Sounds like I'm about to shred some asphalt!!!
