My most rewarding venture with car repair! They told me everything that was wrong with my vehicle so I could decide what to fix. I scheduled the appointment and decided to fix everything. Very knowledgeable, trust worthy and reasonably priced car repairs. The check engine light is off!

Found ourselves in a situation that no one wants to be in. We had a bad flat tire on our way home from vacation. Not familiar with the area we had to call around to find help. They had everything we needed, directed us to their location, and delivered on everything they promised on the phone. They got us taken care of right away and we were back on the road in no time. Very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff! Highly recommend!

Thought my daughter needed new brakes but they were ok. They cleaned them up, changed oil and found 3 nails in a tire. Great service and honest!

THEY DID NOT TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS ALL THE WAY AFTER PUTTING ON NEW TIRES. Three lug nuts fell off of one tire 4 days after putting new tires on. A tire shop that can t tighten lug nuts to spec is ABSURB AND INSANELY DANGEROUS.

Thank you Pope Davis for saving me $400!!So glad I got a second opinion and took my car here. My brakes just started to squeak so I took my car into a well-known national chain. That people at this national chain said I needed all four rotors resurfaced and new brake pads. The total cost would be $742 AFTER a $100 off coupon. They also said I needed new tires.Sensing this was pretty high and maybe unnecessary I picked my car up and took it to Pope Davis instead. Pope Davis let me know that the brakes were in satisfactory condition, I could replace the pads now if the squeaking bothered me, or I could wait a few months. They said the rotors were completely fine and needed nothing. They also said my tires had at least another year on them (depending on how much I drive). I decided to go ahead and replace my brake pads. Total cost: $350 without needing any type of coupon.TL;DR: Take your car to Pope Davis FIRST!

Very poor experience here. They were unable to complete a simple spark plug change and kept charging for work that was not fixing the problem. Didn't even tighten the spark plug in place and replaced the wrong one. Contacted the national chains as they were all booked because of the 4th of July holiday. I was a walk-in. The service was great and performed in less than an hour. I just needed to have a nail removed.I also noticed that they carried the tires that I currently have on my car, therefore in the future I'll be purchasing them from Pope-Davis as it's located about a mile from my office.Thanks again for everything.Service: Tires

I worked with Billy mostly but everyone I encountered was cool. He definitely did his part and went above and beyond. I would recommend this place if you can t do your own work for whatever reason. Thanks y all.

This is hands down the best service I have ever received from a mechanic shop. I had quite the problem with my suspension and tire, thinking that it would take a few days to repair. They got it done within 6 hours for a phenomenal price. So this is my first car, and I've been lucky enough to not have problems. Had something come up out of nowhere, and I definitely felt like I was in a position where I was stuck with having to do whatever they told me. Pope Davis QUICKLY found the problem and I was only charged a minimal diagnostic fee.While I didn't get the repair done there, the mechanic and front office staff talked me through what I needed to know, and were more than understanding. I will be doing all of my car work through this location for the duration of my time in Columbia.Service: Engine repair

Straight to the point, no nonsense shop. Very reasonable prices, and they don't try to talk you into paying for things you don't need to pay for. Very good location close to campus, so if you're a student and need to get your car repaired ASAP, I'd have to recommend Pope-Davis.Service: TiresService: Tires

The customer service at Pope Davis S Assembly St is top-tier! Oil change is reasonably priced and usually takes about an hour. Even if it took longer I wouldn t mind because their waiting area is so calm and quiet it gives me a chance to do school work while I wait. Terry and Cam (I think those are their names) are the men at the front desk and they are great. One day I came in to get my tire patched because of a nail and it turned out that it was just the head of the nail and it hadn t penetrated the tire they checked to make sure no air was leaking and they didn t even charge me (even though they very well could have because they did do work). Really great place and as a young college student who knows absolutely nothing about cars it s really nice to have a place that I can go to and not have to worry.

Pope Davis is the ONLY place I go for car maintenance! :) They are honest, friendly, and trustworthy. They don't try to get me to have things done that don't really need to be done like some other places. They tell me what needs to be done and how much it will cost. And they always call me if they find something unexpected to get the green light from me. That way, I am never surprised with a huge bill when I pick up my car. I love that I can leave my car there one day and pick it up the next day! And the best part of all is........ Doc!!! He is the BEST! I love Pope Davis!! I trust them completely and am always satisfied with the services performed on my vehicles! If you've never been, you don't know what you're missing!! Go today!!

I needed to have my tires balanced while driving home from a road trip. Despite knowing I was just a passing through, they stayed open late to balance my tires, finished the job quickly, and got me back on the road. The staff was professional, honest, courteous, and extremely fair priced. I cannot thank you enough for taking care of my issue.

I called at 3:30 one day, concerned because I had run over some scrap metal on accident and was afraid it may have damaged the underside of my car. They offered to see me at 9am the very next morning. A mechanic looked at my car immediately and was back in less than 10 minutes to return my keys he inspected it free of charge and was very helpful! Pope-Davis is excellent and very kind. I will definitely return in the future!

I had a serious tire leak. They fixed it reasonably fast since I didn't have an appointment and they worked me in. It was under warranty so it didn't cost me anything.They followed all the social distancing rules needed. There were shields at service representatives stations and all seating was social distanced.

They worked so well with me and took into consideration the time I needed my car back! Very kind and polite, even picked me up when my car was finished after getting a new battery and transmission. Called back in timely manner. Definitely recommended to come here!

We were in a hurry passing through on a road trip and had car troubles, they were able to accommodate us right away despite holiday. After time invested testing our car they couldn't pin point a definite problem and were very honest with us about it and didn't charge us. Highly recommend these honest people!

Excellent service! I just got stationed at Ft Jackson and went to have the entire front suspension replaced because another shop told me my ball joints were going out and they couldn't complete my front end alignment. Georgianna had my truck looked over and found everything to be working fine. I had the shocks replaced anyways due to having over 115k miles and the differential fluid exchanged. They did an excellent job and took great care of the truck.

I was referred to Pope Davis from the prior place my car received service. I am very happy with them as they made things happen for my car and helping change the looks of it by adding rotors and brakes rims and tires and they even did my wheel stud conversion kit for me. Now my car looks BEAUTIMUS! Check out my pic below that they took for me after the work was finished!

Very dissatisfied! I took my car for tires and asked them to check my brakes and Rotors because I felt some trembling when braking.(Big Mistake) They told me I needed front and back brakes, pads and Rotors along with Struts. I replaced the front brakes, pads and Rotors with them. So I decided to take my car to the dealership for a second opinion. I was told that my front brakes and pads were fine and they indicated that I DID NOT needed front brakes or pads. I just needed Rotors. What a rip off. The mechanic from Pope Davis on Assembly Street, whom was not there when the job was being performed, called me a couple of days later and apologize that he was not there and if he was there, he would have driven my car first before diagnosing the problems. I need to be reimbursed for the front brake and pads along with any labor associated with these repairs!!

I took my car there very late afternoon to remove nails from my tire and they worked me in. Removed 1 nail and patched and removed other nail but said it did not puncture. So quick and very professional

I went in and told the guy at the front that I needed my battery changed. He asked me to come back the next morning because there wasn t a technician available. I told him that I couldn t and that it needed to be done ASAP. He said okay, asked for my keys, and went out to my car. He came in a couple of minutes later and told me it would be $273 for a new battery for my 2013 Ford Focus! I told him no and that I was just going to look for a better price so I didn t get robbed. He then said okay and told me it was $51 for the diagnostic check he ran!!! I was astounded because most auto part stores run FREE diagnostic checks and he didn t even mention the cost. These guys are thevies. I will never be back and I can guarantee that I will dispute the charge for the service that I did not ask for.
