I'm drafting this letter to address a grievance involving Pope Davis Tires. On March 10, 2023, I dropped off my car at the Hard Scrabble Road store to have the tires replaced and brakes done at 07:30 that morning. When I returned at 12:30 during my lunch break to pick up my car, I failed to inspect it. Later, I noticed damage to the left front door and quarter panel while in a secured parking lot. Upon reporting the damage to the store, I was met with resistance from a mechanic and the manager, Rachel, who dismissed my concerns. Despite providing evidence of the damage occurring during service, they initially refused to take responsibility until further pressure was applied. Eventually, they recommended a body shop for repairs, but failed to adequately coordinate the process, leaving me to handle transportation and additional expenses. Despite nearly two decades of patronage, I was disappointed by the disrespectful and unprofessional behavior displayed by Rachel, Amanda, and the mechanic involved. Their conduct was not only condescending but also unacceptable.

LOVE the Hardscrabble Pope Davis. Had my Duramax at 5 other shops with no luck, and they were able to fix it right the first time after it was down for an entire year. I recently came in to get service from this place and frankly felt like my time had been wasted coming here. Before I could even take a seat, I was told that my truck was too low and I wouldn't be able to get my brake pads changed out because of the type of lifts these company has. The height of my truck has never posed an issue everywhere I've taken it to get service. But I guess cheaper isn't always better. This my first and last time coming here.

I recently went back to Pope Davis in Hard Scrabble after a very bad experience with the previous manager. The young lady was very HONEST, polite, and helpful! She completely changed my opinion and I will recommend anyone that ask for a good auto shop!

I called them to fix my truck and was told to bring it in, and I did. I was told it would be a three hour job that took long and was charging a high price for a simple job that I got done later for twice cheaper than they were going to charge me. Had my truck for six hours, then called me saying they couldn't fix it, and I could come get it, and my truck wouldn't start. Had to tow it to another shop where it was fixed in a hour..I won't take a bick to them...

The front counter people at this location are soo friendly. I took my car in for some maintenance and was in and out in less than an hour and it was so reasonably priced. Pope Davis rocks!! I've been a customer for 10 years and never had a bad interaction. The Hardscrabble location got me in within minutes for a check engine light and it was a loose gas cap. They were quick and courteous!!

I had a really bad experience with Pope-Davis. This will be my second time getting a repair of the same thing that should've been identified at first hand. Manager stated that I had to pay for a service that was not informed to me before hand of them doing the service. The staff at this location is awesome!! They repaired my truck in little to no time, and they guaranteed the work!! Tee is a great mechanic that knows his stuff, and the reception team is pretty great as well.

I had a unique problem. Needed to get tires quickly. They were more than accommodating, friendly about my needs and went above and beyond what I expected. Justin was very comical and that kept me from having a meltdown over my tire situation. Good guy, asset to the company. Noah is very kind and I made me feel that he has the best interest of the customer at heart, also an asset to the Pope-Davis family! I and my husband have all our automotive work done here. Brian is our mechanic and he always does an outstanding job. Cindy is our service assistant and she is knowledgeable and amazingly helpful. It's the one place that we feel we get outstanding service at a fair price and it's hard to beat that in today's service market.A few weeks ago, I was on my way to my mothers to take her to an appointment. She lives 2 hours away. When I pulled out of my drive the temperature light came on HOT. I took it there immediately. The radiator housing had to be replaced. I explained that I was on my way to take my mother to the doctors when this happened. The next thing I knew, Olivia was calling for a rental car for me for the day. Pope paid for it and they got me to her in time to get her taken care of.This kind of service is beyond outstanding and I don't think I will ever be taking my cars to anyone else to work on other than these guys. They truly know how to ROCK customer service.

I use the HardScrabble location. They are great. The employees that run the front are very helpful. They helped me choose the perfect set of tires for my husband's Jeep for Christmas. I even called around to see if I could get a better price, which I could not. If you are military ,they have a military discount. I have never seen my husband happier with a set of tires. He said they rode great, and the truck was quiet enough to hear the radio. 100% recommend them.

Flat tire on Friday night. Called Stephanie Saturday morning, and watched her work a miracle.She came to my rescue! Promptly greeted and they got my car in a little before my appointment time. It is a convenient location, customer lobby is open and clean.Friendly staff and they took care of my car. Very pleased.

recently..I'm not happy with this location..I've been a patron of Pope Davis for many years in downtown Columbia..but my most recent visit to Hardscrabble location has shown a massive overpricing of services. Be diligent and research for yourself.compare prices of parts and labor costs before you allow this location to SERVICE your vehicle.Tire prices seem ok....but like seems to be the new norm in all of these types of businesses,BEWARE of overpricing. Otherwise..good waiting area and fast turnaround .

I ve gone to them since moving to Columbia and can honestly say whether the problem with your vehicle is big or small, they not only fix it, they educate you and truly give you a sense of value that s hard to come by these days.If Justin is at the front desk, he may not smile when you walk in but don t be fooled...he s surprisingly friendly! Actually, I think all the people I ve encountered at the desk have been nice.And call to ask about any specials. I don t see much advertising but they usually have a service on sale.

This is a great local business for your automotive needs. I brought in my Suzuki XL7 for a low oil pressure light on a Saturday morning (no appointment needed) and they had the problem diagnosed in a timely manner, gave me the costs and time to repair and gave me a ride home. The repair cost was reasonable and the work was done professionally. Im new to the area and I've found my new auto repair shop.

I went there two days in a row and I'm highly disappointed! Yesterday, I asked for an oil change and told them the coolant fluid light was on as well as the ABS, brakes, and service engine soon. The coolant light was new, but I already had a diagnostic done for the other three lights and knew what they previously said. I haven't been able to get it fixed, $2000 of work was my quote, as of yet because I started a new job. Well I was told they had to do another diagnostic, yes more money. Okay, I'll pay. However, this time, none of the issues they told me existed previously showed up on the new diagnostic, mind you I didn't get it fixed. This time it was a speed sensor. My car has been stalling/shaking while I drive and while it's in park. So I was told they would order the part and services would be about $180. So I paid for my diagnostic and oil change and was told to come back tomorrow to get the sensor done. I asked how long it should take and was told an hour. Well I came back, around 330-345pm today as I said I would. Sat for about 1.5 hours before my car even made it to the back. Around 520ish, someone came and told me that the part that was supposed to be ordered the prior day, was not ordered. At this time I am highly frustrated. They tried to convince me to come again tomorrow, my response was I had other things to do for the next few days. Ironically, about 10 minutes later, the ordered piece was found. So I asked would it be fixed today, the response was they would check. I wasn't updated, but I sat and assumed it was being fixed because no one told me otherwise. A little after closing time, my car was finally finished, keys delivered and an update. The three lights that were on, that just needed the sensor as told the previous day, were still on. My car was still stalling when I started it and as I drove off. Another $150+ to get my car fixed, oh but it's not fixed. I was asked to bring it back tomorrow for a thorough check, at this point, I'd rather just go ahead and take it to BMW and stop with the shortcuts! I'm very dissatisfied! Money doesn't grow on trees and neither does 6 hours of my time!

Honest, nice people. My car was diagnosed quickly and everything was fixed in no time. Prices are comparable, however the convenience of the location made this place more appealing. Came highly recommended and I will recommend them as well.

I sent a request for quote because I wanted a local shop to service my vehicle. But I never received anything past the email saying someone would contact me soon. I ll never know! The automated statutes work!

Where do I start. I normally bring my cars here and deal with the young lady that works at this location. She has always been fair. I went on 05/15/2021 to get tires for my car. The price was fair and the young lady was her normal friendly self. My sons car stopped on him 05/26/21, so I had it towed to Pope Davis. I spoke with Justin. When I walked in, I explained to Justin that I was not a mechanic but I think it is something going on with the fuel. He said, I will check it out and let you know. The next day, he called me back and said, "It's the battery and the alternator and it going to cost $695. So, against my better judgment, I said go ahead and fix the car and I also asked him to have the oil changed. He called me back that Friday and said, "That is not what it was, he still can't keep the car crank and, a Mazda tech was going to come check it out for him, not Monday but the following Monday 06/07/2021." I thought about it, and I called him back Saturday, I asked him how much was all this going to cost me because I didn't want to pay another $1000 for a 98 Mazda. He said, "I don't know." So I ask him to humor me and change out the fuel filter. He said, "Yeah, I will check it out but I can't until Tuesday 06/01/2021." I road past the shop everyday for 3 days after and the car was in the same spot. Friday I called and told him I was going to have the car picked up. So he said, "Well, I didn't have a chance to change the oil or change the fuel filter, do you want me to change it?" (After the week it had been there.) I said, no. But I asked him since it was not the battery nor alternator could he take something of the price of the labor. He knocked it down from $701 to $618. I went by O"Reillys across the street and price a battery for $149.99 and the alternator for $165.99 with a $35 core. Pope Davis charged me $380 for labor!! Then, because I was using Acima, he was only able to give me an instore credit of $68, so I still paid $701. I will never be able to use that credit because the prices are so high!!! My normal mechanic got the car, told me to get a fuel filter and fuel pump which cost me $70 and he fixed it for $125. If Justin would have done what I asked him to do, by checking the fuel filter and pump, I would have $701 dollar still in my pocket! I think he was going to run a tab up on me because I was using Acima and I was approved for a high amount. MOTS: Ladies, be careful when taking your car to have it fixed, do you research and tell them EXACTLY what you want done, or you will be taken advantage of, like I was.

I've been going to Pope Davis for years. The service and quality is the best. The manager Justin is always positive, honest and helpful. Customer service is the most important aspect for me in deciding where I spend my money...because of Justin's character and the quality of work by the service team, that's why I continually go to Pope Davis Tires on Hardscrabble Rd!
