First off, I'm not one to typically post reviews. The service I received from Richards today compelled me to. If you want to take your vehicle to a place that treats you as family, this is it. Richard went above and beyond to take care of a major issue with my truck. Richard and his team took care of me quickly and without question saved me money over taking it to the local "stealership". If you want old fashioned good service with a smile, don't hesitate to bring your vehicle here. Two thumbs up guys and thank you!

BIG HUGE SCAM THESE GUYS ARE RUNNING. I had my vehicle towed into their shop, I was forced to wait 2 weeks before hearing anything back of what might be wrong with the car. Since my insurance was covering the damage, I had an adjuster come out & look over my vehicle. I got a report back saying there was nothing wrong with my serpentine belt after they already replaced it. fast-forward to me receiving my car, I received my car in same/ worse condition then it was dropped off in. I told my bank to cancel payment, as I'm not going to give a rude man my money for work that wasn't completed. This guy is screaming at me through the phone threatening to fight me & Insult me repeatedly cause his scam did not work on me. He texted my phone saying he did not fix my vehicle but replace something that didn't even need it. BIGGG SCAM THEY LOOK AT PEOPLE LIKE MONEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CAR JUST YOUR WALLET!!! DO NOT GO HERE SERIOUSLY. IF I COULD POST SCREEN SHOTS & VIDEOS I WOULD!!!!! STAY AWAY STAY AWAY SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE!!!!

Monday, I had a completely flat tire. Went to 3 shops, and they wanted me to drop it off or wait another day! RICHARD'S got on it right away. They are amazing people and definitely have the holiday spirit. I got to work safely because of them! Will return!

Love this place! As someone who knows next to nothing about cars, I'm usually a little intimidated and untrusting when I go to get work done on my car. But Richard and Jake are so nice, honest, and have always given me very reasonable pricing. Richard even drove me home one time so I didn't have to wait for an Uber! My friend recommended Richard's to me, and I'm so glad she did. They're the best!

This is the only place I will recommend in Charleston. All around great experience! Very friendly staff, straight to the point with the repairs, and they don t try to overcharge or sell you on things you don t need.

I recently moved from Summerville out to West Ashley and needed a place to have my 2014 Toyota 4Runner serviced. I found Richard's through Google and the many positive reviews are truly indicative of the establishment. It was fantastic and friendly service at a fair price. I dropped it off yesterday at the end of the day--I had called earlier and confirmed I could do so--and they had it ready by the end of lunchtime today. I will certainly be using them again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone!Service: Oil change

RudeUpdate: After being hung up on after simply asking why a bumper needed to be removed to replace a headlight bulb when I had seen it done before without that, I m bumping to a 4 star from a 1. I do this simply for the double down in attitude and sarcasm through the response. Respect that consistency. If they don t hang up on you, I m sure they do great work. I d bet it d be a 5 if I used them ever but clearly I hit a wrong tone with my question. Keep that passion Richard but also realize you swim in an industry that some mechanics will con and lie to take extra money from us common folk who don t know all the details. So, we may have a question you find dumb. Was just trying to understand sir. You have a great day as well (sincerely despite your sarcasm)

Had my Chevy 1500 P/U towed over on a Thursday 2 weeks ago, they said they wouldn't be able to get to it for at least a week. They called me the next morning and said they got it fixed! HORRIBLE!!! I dropped my car off on a Tuesday to get it looked at. I called them the next Wednesday to ask about it and after giving me the run around they told me they lost my key and my car was going to be able to get looked at until they found it! I called them back the next day and the story kept changing about whether or not they had looked at my car. I finally showed up in person and took my car back. After all of it they simply said that they did in fact look at my car and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!Service: Vehicle Inspection

Awesome job!! My truck s fan clutch & water pump when out; & took out the radiator when it went. Jake got me in quickly diagnosed the issue, ordered the parts, & got it knocked out in day & half. Richard s Automotive is the place to go if your in need of vehicle repairs in Charleston area. Super fair prices too!! 10/10

Such a great and honest experience. They were well versed with over a decade of experience and it was quick to finish installing my radiator and condenser for a fair price. I highly recommend this business. I will be back for any other repairs I may need.

Always fair prices. Staff is great. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my vehicle. I've had my truck in their shop about three times in six years, all the issues they have fixed are just that, fixed. Have never had an issue with any maintenance they have done. Have never had to bring my vehicle back for the same issue. They do what they say, and call me for approval if it will cost more or they find another issue. They tell me if I don't need something done that someone else has recommended. I can say with confidence when I pick up my vehicle I will be satisfied.

Richards Automotive is Family to us. They have been working on our cars for over 20 yrs!! They always treated us with Respect & Kindness. Their work speaks for it self. 10/10 would recommend. Saved a bachelorette party stranded in a broken mini van, and made sure to get us in quickly so the bride could make it back to her v concerned fianc�. She may never travel w us again, but Richard & the auto team hardly even judged us as they put a new screw in the tire. Or something.

I had my 2011 Toyota Camry done there .keep in mind I ve never walked in there shop but read the reviews and called about fixing my vehicle. I did everything by phone, told them what was told to me by the previous owner and that I had bought the car over the phone site unseen. Great spot! I called so many automotive shops here in Charleston, and I would never get a response or would be cut off while asking questions about services. The office manager at Richards was incredibly kind and accommodating. They were able to fix my car within 24 hours of dropping it off for a very reasonable price. They also called to give me an estimate and very straightforward response of what was wrong. Everyone was incredibly personable and friendly. Felt like the auto shop I went to back home so needless to say I ll definitely take my car here in the future.

I called and was told to drop my car off. Specifically told them I would leave it w keys and at no time was I told they had two mechanics off for the week. At no time did the man say he would not get to my car this week. I rented a car for three days. I rearranged my schedule to accommodate what I was told. Arrived this morning to a sign stating we can t get your car this week. Two dudes just sitting there and only one actually working. Bad attitude and they just did not care.Richard, my name is Sharon. Your disregard and ugliness is showing. I called and told you I would drop it off Wednesday and leave the keys where you told me. You had no regard for the time I took to arrange this. And you told me this morning you have two mechanics off for the week. You did not tell me this when I called. In fact when I called Monday you told me to drop the car and keys. I am not in a hurry, just planned based on what you told me. I did get an appointment at another place in 11 days and was told it would take two days. You do not care. Take notice folks of his attitude.

They have fixed my son's car several times and truly the most honest mechanics I have ever used. They call first after they diagnosis and go over the costs with you so you can decide how to proceed. Very trust worthy and we would not use anyone else. Came highly recommended from a friend and now I recommend them to everyone.

I'm not from Charleston but my son lives there and I was trying to find a trustworthy mechanic to do his car work, I read the reviews from this mechanic just down from his residence because the car would not barely go, I had to find a close one he could drive too. The previous reviews were just what I read, friendly & prompt with work. They were backed up when I called and the man told me so, the bill was a lil high for me but not ridiculous considering work done. I highly recommend Richard's. Jake was awesome!

Don't judge a book by its cover! I drove past this place for YEARS before I ever tried them out. I read their amazing reviews online and decided to give them a try since they were close by. My only regret is not using them sooner! I called ahead and they do not schedule by appointments. I walked in early morning and left my vehicle. By the afternoon I was called with the diagnosis and estimate. I was reassured over the phone that they would try to get the estimate down by price matching which made me really feel like they were on my team and not trying to rip me off. The next day my vehicle was ready for pick up and they had gotten my estimate down by more than $100, a significant difference in my book. I will definitely be using them for future service! I m sorry I chose not to spend the $2000 for your services for what has amounted to a $200 fix, but surely the state my car was returned to me can not be common practice.Plastic block cover was just thrown on top not snapped back into place, ignition sensors left unplugged with spark plugs not even hand tight, and a bracket that holds two hoses in place left unbolted (bolt missing) and with a broken hose clamp (make that a $210 fix).I m not a professional AUTOMOTIVE mechanic, but even I knew a few of the steps told to me over the phone to fix my car were completely unnecessary/entirely nonsensical.For all the good I ve heard about this business through word of mouth, I ve certainly experienced quite the oppositeService: Auto engine diagnostic

Richard's is amazing! They are always helpful and efficient, no matter how big or small the problem is! We have been bringing our 4 cars to Richard's for years and we r always highly satisfied. Whenever someone mentions on Facebook that they need a suggestion as to where to take their car, I always tell them Richard's. My father brought all his cars here before me and several other family members bring their vehicles here, I cannot imagine taking my cars anywhere else.

Our Nissan NV200 delivery vehicle was not charging. We brought it to a shop and was told our alternator was bad and needed to be replaced. They couldn't get the part for a few days. As we needed this vehicle for deliveries, I called Nissan and asked about replacing the alternator. I was quoted $950 and told they needed to order the part. I then did a quick Google search for auto care in West Ashley and up came Richard's. A quick check on Yelp showed great reviews. I called and was quoted a FAR less price for the alternator, which he could get that day, however, because it was late afternoon, he couldn't install it til the following day. We dropped the vehicle off and the next morning, I get a phone call that the problem was NOT the alternator, but a bad battery. They installed a new one (saved me a bunch of $$) and we drove off. My driver called later in the day to tell me she had brought the car back because it was running "rough". I got a call back from Richard's and was told that they cleaned a bunch of stuff (don't remember what exactly he cleaned) and it was all good to go. I offered my credit card, but was told it was all set. He didn't want a car going out of his shop with any issues....even though a car "running rough" has NOTHING to do with a new battery. Thank you!!! We have just found our new auto shop!!
