Bought a used car and came in to get the transmission fluid changed. Called to get estimate and make appointment. Worked me in the very next day. Total cost was within 20% of the estimate. Great service great attitude. Nice place quick turn around. The only thing I will say and most local places that have been around since I was a kid in Charleston stick to old school payment systems to keep the overhead down. I get it. Some may not like the extra charge for using credit but the price of the service reflects so its always a balance. And handing your ride to someone you can trust these days that's a bonus in of itself.

Transmission flush & fill and filter change services were completed quickly, along with an engine diagnostic. Very helpful & they take the time to listen! We got to meet the shop manager and the owner. The mechanics we passed by in the bays were friendly too. Very clear in our 2 visits why Holt Transmission has been around the Charleston area for so long and why they ve grown to multiple locations. I m from out of town and had some slight car trouble. They did a diagnostic for me and told me EXACTLY what the issue was. They said I d be fine until I got home so I could use someone locally from home if I needed to. They re super nice and I would highly recommend them.

I went to them as a local person sharing the money around town they did a bench job for on my work truck so I told them to upgrade the parts that I specified in for heavy duty towing. I received my transmission back installed it an noticed my dipstick could not get flush inside the tube no biggie at this point drove an it seemed to be as if it was never fixed long story short all part was old took it toa different location an still the run around had to get rental for 2 weeks with no answer from owners. 1600 down the drain thanks a lot holt

All I ever have owned is used cars and have worked on them and had enough engines and transmissions let go (fail, die, go kaput) that I know many of the warning signs. But some 5-6 year ago my daughter, granddaughter and I piled in the old Buick and took off to Folly Beach for a long weekend, this car showed NO SIGNS of a problem. Drove into Charleston and was at a RED light on Folly Beach Rd and when the light turned Green hit the gas and the transmission went ZZZZZZsssss and the car went no where. Knew immediately the transmission (failed, died, went kaput). Thank goodness my son in-law and his father were driving down in another car and came a helped to push it off the road. I had to make a quick decision and had it towed to "HOLT Transmissions" . I have to give those folks a THUMBS UP rebuilt the transmission and a couple of days and I still drive this car daily.

My transmission busted and I called several places in West Ashley to compare prices. I spoke to the owner on the phone and he gave me a fair price and said he could have my car finished in just about two days time. My car was being a little difficult, to where it ended up taking an extra couple of days- but my transmission was fixed (even after the delay) quicker than many of my friends. The owner was extremely helpful through the process and very nice, also wants me to bring the car back in two weeks to check and make sure everything s working well. Brought my van in for diagnostic work for a transmission issue I was unable to eliminate after replacing my shift solenoid pack. I suspected there was something internally damaged after attempting to clear the codes my self and trigger the relearn process. The guys at the shop did their inspection of the issues. Correctly cleared the codes after I had tried. Two hours later I had my car back. Didn t charge me for the diagnostic time.Glad to find a shop I can feel comfortable sending my wife or son too when I m not home to work on our cars.Services: Transmission, Electrical

We recently took our van to Holt Transmission on Sam Rittenberg - Our car was jerking and really acting up. Jeff and his team quickly diagnosed the problem and a short time later let us know what was needed and what the price would be. The price was more than fair and our car had a new transmission in a couple of days . ( super quick ! ) These guys were positive , upbeat and eager to help me in any way they could. This is our third time having our cars repaired at Holt Service Plus Auto Repairs of Charleston on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. We have had transmission work done on 2 of our cars and an alternator replaced in the third car. These guys were unbelievable! Very personable, kind, and reasonable. Quick diagnosis, and confirmation of the need for a new transmission, which was told me by the overpriced car dealership. These guys were super quick, the price was half of the car dealership, and they went out of their way to repair something for me that wasn t even part of the original repair agreement. Had transmission rebuilt for my old nissan truck. The work was done quickly and for a pretty good price. John offered to check the fluid level and double check for any leaks if I stop back by in a few weeks just to make sure everything is perfect. Very nice staff. The transmission on my jeep broke down while off-roading, and after having it towed to a dealership for a diagnostic, I had it taken to this location after speaking to Jeff directly over a few days. He was very encouraging that I had it rebuilt rather than replaced with a new one, and spoke highly of the builders he has on staff. This was uncharted territory for me, and I chose to take Jeff s direction and am beyond glad for it. They gave me what feels like a brand new car, in less than a week, at a cost thousands of dollars less than what a dealership wanted for it. He was very upfront and transparent any time anything came up, and kept me updated throughout the whole process. I hope to not be in need of her services again, but this is absolutely where I would go, and where I would send others.

Jon with holt transmission in west Ashley is a rare breed. He has great communication skills, customer service, and value. Most importantly is he was honest which saved me ~$1500. Don't hesitate to try them outUpdate: 8/22: I was having trouble with my work van and got an astronomical estimate from Ford. I called up Jeff at Holt and he was super helpful, honest and fair with my transmission rebuild. I went in bc NY car was leaking fluid from somewhere . No one else wanted to mess with it bc it's a BMW. BUT...... Mr. Holt went out of his way to put it on the jack and make sure I was safe. Asa mom of 4 this was greatly appreciated. He went out of his way to make sure we were safe Still it wasn't transmission it was power steering . Had me back on the road in no time. Thank you so much. Very honest business. Would recommend and go back anytime.

I brought my car in for an estimate and John was extremely friendly and he fit me in after a few hours. He was clear, concise, and extremely honest with everything that needed to be fixed on the car. Since the car is 21 years old, I elected not put the money into the car and did not charge me for the estimate.I would go back to him in a heartbeat if I needed any work done based on his honesty.

This morning my truck would not start. Having used Holt Transmission in the past I gave them a call. They were able to come get my truck and have it repaired all in less than a day.Peter, the Service Manager took good care of me, explaining my options and associated costs. He went above and beyond somehow getting my vehicle done in one day alleviating having to take an additional unexpected day off from work.Thank you so much for the polite, honest and thorough work. You'll get all my business in the future and my friends will get countless referrals to your business.

Absolute NIGHTMARE!I would NEVER recommend these guys to my worst enemy. First of all, they had my car for 45 days. It was one thing after another that they couldnt repair. On top of that, they never called me. I always had to call them. I picked up the car 3 different times and each time the car was not fixed properly. They charged me $4500 for the repairs and wouldn't even give me a 2 year warranty, because 'it was an extra charge'. I could seriously go on and on but I have already wasted too much of my life on these guys. I would NEVER EVER EVER take your car to these people. All they do is over promise and under deliver. When I first dropped my car off on a Tuesday, they told me it would be ready by that Friday.... 40 days later I was able to pick it up and its still not right! I am still trying to get it fixed and now I am most likely going to have to sell it because its just not worth the risk of being stranded somewhere. It wouldnt trust these guys under your hood. Period.. Overpriced and unreliable.Service: Transmission

Not only are the guys at Holt's Polite, Personable and Very Knowledgeable. They also got our van's Transmission rebuilt and back on the road in a day and a half. It runs wonderfully now. Not to mention the cost of the work was very reasonable. I will be Recommending Holt's Transmission Service and Auto Repairs to all my friends and Family........ Just wish i could give them better than a five star rating, because in my eyes they deserve it.

Had to rebuild my first Transmission and the pricing was fair and the communication was excellent, I had a brand new transmission in a matter of days and it runs beautifully now. I recommend this place , Jeff the owner is a great guy he will get you taken care of!

Before a big holiday trip the transmission on my car needed to have work done. I am glad I found out about Holt's! You are going to walk in and be greeted by Gary and know you are in good hands. My car is driving like new. It took on the road trip with no issue. Holt's has worked on both our cars now and we are very pleased. Gary who manages the location is going to be honest with you and go through your options. After the service, if something is not right you can bring the back and he is going to make sure you are happy with their service. Go to Holt's. You will be as happy as we are.
