When I initially talked to Kayla, she said it would be a 4-5 day fix. It ended up being in the shop for 19 days. This businesses communication with their customers needs some improvement. When asked why it s taking so long, Kayla said the vehicles are assigned to a technical and if they go out sick the car sits until they come back. After I heard this policy, I contacted my insurance and they took care of it. Overall the work was done well.

Took my car here to have front end damage repaired. Nothing wrong with my car when I dropped it off. When I got it back the car wouldn't start due to a dead battery, when we opened the hood, my husband noticed that the overflow cap was missing and asked where it was, the technician had no clue. Today my husband looked at the work they did and discovered that the bumper wasn't attached properly, and the headlight was just sitting there with no bolts to hold it in place. Do NOT take your car here, it is evident they don't know what they are doing. Oh, and they didn't even bother to tell us the battery was dead...we were told oh yh well we tried to charge the battery, but it wouldn't hold a charge. Don't you think the customer should know that they have a dead battery prior to them discovering it on their own? I will be complaining to my insurance company as well.

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Charleston on vacation, and my vehicle, which had been recently repaired by a North Carolina Gerber Collision, had some issues. The Charleston team was able to get my back on the road in a little over an hour. Kayla, Trevor, and the man who calibrated my vehicle were kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I appreciated their genuine concern in upholding the Gerber Collision lifetime repair warranty. In addition to the great customer service, the facility was clean and welcoming. I highly recommend this location of Gerber Glass and Collision for your repair needs.

Now that I have had time to deal with a couple other shops in the area for work and personal needs, I would double down and say avoid this location at all costs. Crew's Collision on Rivers is a great alternative. They were able to do 3 times the work to the same vehicle I had at Gerber in less than a third of the time with none of the rudeness or abysmal communication. Still one of the worst customer service experiences I have had.

This is purely for directional driving do not turn on Rainbow Road, if you approach Rainbow Road go up two feet and Gerber Collision and Glass will be on your right hand side a light gray building with big red lettering. Google is giving out bad directions and had me driving in circles, lol. Everyone here was really nice to me and their lobby area is immaculate.

I originally thought this was going to be a 5 start experience. The place was clean, well organized, and staff seemed very friendly.The person running the front desk was very eager to get my repair scheduled. Although my schedule was flexible, she was pushing hard to get it on their books ASAP. She certainly is good at sales.The job was 20 hours of repair. They had the car for over 120 hours or 15 working days. Not sure what was being done with the car during the other 100 hours.No proactive updates or estimate to completion could be given during that time. In fact they never reached out to me, I always had to call.Was told on Thursday, car will be ready on Friday. Received a text to that affect. Then Friday - no car, no response. Monday, again, I had to call them. The front desk sales woman, she had a litany of reasons why I was given incorrect information. She assured me when "I get the final papers, I will call you."Another week goes by, another text my car is ready. So I waited for the call, no call. So I called, the front desk woman was busy but will call me back, because my car "should" be ready. But I didn't receive the call, so I waited. Another weekend with no car.Monday morning - I call (again). She said the car is ready. I go to pick up my car. I asked her why she didn't call me to let me know. She "had the paper".I didn't yell, didn't scream...paid my bill, told her I was disappointed. She not once thanked me for the business.The work done was fine. Again, all signs point to this being a 5 star place, but their customer service - once they start working on your car - is 1 star at best.

My 2007 Honda Civic SI was repaired in three weeks, whereas other shops had estimated four months would be required. Your employee- Kayla - was one of the best if not THE best customer service reps with whom I ve ever interacted. BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE!!!What had been a complete nightmare ordeal, not having my car for 2 months to the day, was arguably easier to handle knowing it was in Joe and Trevor's care at Gerber. There was CONSTANT communication about my car from day 1. From repair costs, approvals, to alerting me about paint days and longer than expected tire wait times, it WAS INCREDIBLE how forthcoming with the process they were. They communicated with my insurance company at all levels of the claims process. Not only that but I've had to call and ask questions and Joe has answered them with patience and a genuine desire to educate. Thanks Gerber, if I have to have body work again I will be back! Wonderful Company Great People! Way to be like James Island and put the Community first!

Great customer service! Went in for questions regarding my bumper the two gals up front are very nice and welcoming and always willing to help. Zach & Trevor are both great estimators and are willing to take the time to explain everything! From what I understand Zach is training Trevor! Trevor you are under good hands of the trade! Keep up the great work!

I was in an accident that was not my fault. I had a piece that was in danger of causing more damage. I went straight to Gerber and asked for some help so I would be able to drive my car. Joe was amazing! He came out and addressed my issues and helped me feel better about driving my car! He took the piece off and and I am currently waiting to hear from insurance. I highly recommend Joe and Gerber! I have been to multiple places on James Island and this is by far the best!

If you are able to avoid this shop it will save you major headaches.From the beginning of my experience with Gerber Collision and Glass I never felt welcomed and dealt with rude remarks throughout the entire process.My vehicle had a special situation due to me taking it to a mechanic shop 1st who fixed all mechanical damage, but then I was left with cosmetic work. I now understand that repair shops don t like to take on cars that have been worked on elsewhere but Joseph at Gerber really dropped the ball more than once. Joseph agreed to take on my car after speaking with him directly. Then he totally forgot he agreed to take on my car and day of me dropping it off he had a lot of confusion. I had to prove he agreed through my email record. Then he proceeded to take my car from June 26th until I took it back on July 11th. The entire time my car was with them they never touched it. They even have automatic texts that were telling me the car was being worked on and nearing completion. I asked for an explanation on why my car was not ready and they lied about my insurance. Zach said USAA failed to contact them back a week prior. According to insurance they were not contacted until July 10th at 4pm. They were trying to get a new estimate approved that had parts that were previously fixed at the mechanic shop. Aka insurance fraud.Completely unreliable and extremely unprofessional.

Took almost 2 weeks to get an estimate I was told would take 30-45 minutes. Called multiple times and was told multiple times that it would be sent over by end of business day. Wasn't until I contacted Padilla directly that I finally got it. Then my quote had a bunch of stuff that I just simply didn't need.

Came in to get an estimate and even though they were not taking self pay customers they still wrote an estimate for me and they were so kind to direct me to another body shop that may be able to assist. The ladies at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful as well as the guys assisting in writing my estimate (Zach & Trevor)Thank you Gerber Folly Rd for all your help, I will definitely be recommending you all for anyone that needs body repairs .

Collected the car and noticed once I got home the back bumper work was not done well with scratches still visible. I also noticed a photo frame disappeared that was ther before dropping the car off. Have left multiple messages without a return call. It will be two weeks since they made the repair. Based on my personal experience, I do not recommend having your car repaired by Gerber.

I was in a minor accident and the other drivers insurance wanted me to go to another body shop in Charleston. Unfortunately they were very rude and I was going to have to wait over 2 weeks to just get an estimate for my repair. I noticed that John Harris was a guaranteed body shop on the list, so I decided to call them up, plus they are closer to my house. I spoke with Mysti and she said to bring my car over anytime that week that was convenient for my schedule. When I arrived, she was super friendly and was able to take a look at my car right away. I was sent the estimate that afternoon and was able to get my car on their schedule by the following week to have repairs done. The whole time I was informed of things going on with my car and the status. They finished the work 4 days earlier than expected and my car looks brand new. Everyone at John Harris was friendly and great to work with. Plus they did an amazing job with the repair. Best auto body shop in Charleston!Services: Painting, Body & Trim

This place is amazing. Mitsy in the front office and Jerry in the shop are an awesome team. I took my vehicle in for some body work on the front bumper and less than 24 hours later I was picking it up. The work was high quality. I cannot say enough about how well they treated me and how well they worked with my insurance company to get me back on the road. They were in constant contact with me through text messaging on the status of my vehicle and were prompt in responding to any questions I had. They are clearly happy employees and it shows in the way they treat their customers!!Service: Body & Trim

I was very pleased with the service and the staff. They were very good at communicating with us their progress and got it done quickly. Car looks as good as new. We ended up having an issue with our insurance provider not covering the rental for a few extra days and they took care of us. Decent work but found out they ordered the wrong parts after telling me all the right parts were in, which led to 10 extra days without my vehicle. After the work was complete, go to pickup and pay in full. Over a month later get a call that I still have a balance on a new invoice created after the deal was done. Avoid this unprofessional madness! Never again for me

At first I had no problems with them. The front staff was nice and very helpful and detailed as to what would happen when I drop my car off.Now let's fast forward to when I drop my car off. They never called me to update me ever. I always had to call. After a week of them having my car I had to call being no one did.. Turns out they had my car fora week and didn't even tear it apart and said they were behind. Finally ordered all the parts and once they got the parts in it took another week before they touched my car. By now they have had it for a month.Now I understand being short staffed and behind but do not take more cars in than you can handle. Overall I had minimal damage for it to take 5 weeks for my car to be fixed .would not recommend it was always once excuse after anothser

I got into quite the fender bender about a month ago with my new car. I was lucky enough to use Gerber Collision to repair the damages. They were super friendly and kept me updated with my estimate and repairs which only took two weeks. Zach is the man, he did my estimate and repairs. 5-star quality service provider. Our daughter was in her first auto accident and her car was towed to this body shop...A very efficient manager (Missie) helped tremendously, as my daughter was kept calm and they even called for a rental car to be brought to their shop for her to move forward from the accident and the remainder of her day...It's nice to know that caring & professional service providers, like Missie, are still around and willing to go above & beyond the line of duty to help minimize the stress of the moment. I would have checked off 10 stars if it was available Dropped my 2500 diesel off before Christmas to get some pretty good damage done, had a hard time getting back down to James Island to pick it up,let s just say the truck was perfect there was no ridiculous storage fee there was zero storage fee!! and their professionalism going in and coming out is something I have not seen in a long time.... the waiting rooms are immaculate the men s room is immaculate Good for them!!! This shop is awful to work with and clearly has been having people affiliated with the staff pumping reviews the last few days to hide the bad ones. Do not bring your vehicle year. Awful customer service and they will actually just lie to you when confronted.

We had something fly up on 26 and bust the front bumper and side panel on our van. This is the main vehicle we use for business and our family. Not only were they able to do the work and get it back to us faster than we anticipated, they are also cleaned the inside of it so well, that I am considering finding something for them to "fix" more often. They are also great about keeping you informed on parts, when they arrive, when to expect everything....ultimately, you get more than you expect and pay for, with a smile. I went to have a fender painted here and they forgot to address some scratches. Anyways, their quick solution was to buff the hell out of the scratches.The deep scratches are still there and now the paint on the car is swirled.I would not recommend.

I m a small business owner with vehicles on the road. One of my employees was involved in an accident that requires body work. A claim was filed through insurance and this is how we ended up at John Harris. Everything was set for our appointment today. I had communication from the insurance representative and a representative from John Harris prior to the appointment time. At no point in time, before the scheduled appointment, did anyone explain to me that this location does not work on aluminum body vehicles. I pulled my employee, from a different part of town, to come to James Island for the appointment. We arrive, and not in 5 minutes we were told John Harris can t work on the vehicle because it s aluminum body. So, my time was wasted, my employees time was wasted, it cost my business money in gas, it wasted the time of the rental car company there to drop off a vehicle for us, to tell us that they don t like turning away business, even though they knew they wouldn t be able to work on it. The kicker, John Harris knew a couple days in advance that the vehicle coming in was aluminum body. John Harris, you just lost a small business fleet for life.
