Denise is a gem! She knows her stuff and gets it all done. The workmanship, as I experienced it, was superb and necessary. I felt I got an honest assessment of the work and they were helpful with the information requested. I like supporting local business and it s even better when they provide excellent service.

Quick straight to the point not the cheapest but you don't end up going back because they screwed something up. Good work good service and in many cases the car is done same day. Bravo!

I have a 2004 Acura MDX with almost 300,000 miles. I ve been going here for 2 years whenever I believe there is a problem with my car. They do quality work and I actually just brought my car there again to get checked out and they told me nothing was wrong with it!! They don t lie nor take advantage of you! Recommend to anyone. I used to live around the corner and now I drive from West Ashley because I don t trust anyone else. Denise at the front desk is also so so sweet & nice

Good local shop. My first visit, but I had heard good things about them. Everything seems right and tight on my truck. I will certainly return for any upcoming needs.

Second visit to Dinkins with my second car. Needed oil change, synthetic , rotate tires an d check tire pressure monitors. After look through, serpentine belt replacement. (100k recommended) did oil, 2 new TPM s, rotate, plus new serpentine belt. $735.00. Cheaper than Anderson Toyota, probably not but being 2 miles down the road worth every penny.Major stuff I would most likely use the Toyota dealerMarch 22, 2024Returned for my Acura brakes. All ok , no charge!Honest folks !!

I was pleased that you found a minor problem and fixed it for a reasonable fee. I'm fair game for being told I have major problems that must be repaired or the car will fall apart.

Excellent auto mechanic service shop here! They were able to repair my sister s power steering failure on a Friday. She came in from out of town and needed to get home the next day. Reasonable pricing and quick communication.

I highly recommend this family owned and run James Island auto repair shop. I have been taking my cars to Dinkins for years. They've never done me wrong. They are a full service shop except for body work (I think). They also fixed my little trailer for me. Joe Dinkins runs a fireworks stand before July 4 and New Years. He has great prices and lots products. Outstanding!Services: Transmission, A/C services, Air & cabin filter replacement, Exhaust, Tires, Electrical, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Air conditioning, Battery, Oil change

Do not go here unless you want to be cheated out of your money. I had a busted hose connecting my coolant and engine. Parts were $115, but the labor was $780?? I have a Volkswagen that I have worked on before and I know that they are not the easiest cars to work on, but $780 for a repair that took maybe 3.5 hours is outrageous. I discussed my concern with them, and made it clear that they were robbing me charging $780 for labor, but they did not care. I'm sure they do good work, but if you are a female don't go here because they will take advantage of you.

Wish I didn t have a need to see the friendly folks at Dinkins quite so often but I am extremely relieved to have a mechanic i can trust to do a great job for a fair price and get the job done quickly! Grateful that businesses like this still exist.

The oil change and tune up were routine maintenance performed quickly and professionally. The brake inspection was a specific issue requested and allowed for corrective action to be planned for the near future in coordination with other scheduled maintenance. Great Job. I arrived at the shop with my Tahoe barely running. I was greeted nicely and with a positive attitude which are rare in my experiences with repair shops. The mechanics checked it and told me exactly what was wrong, when it would be finished, and much it would cost. All 3 were done as promised. And my truck is running as good as the day I bought it 12 years ago. I encourage anyone who needs car repair to find these guys.Services: Auto brake replacement, Oil change

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. YOU WILL REGRET TAKING IT HERE. The staff will lie to you. I brought my car there to have the rear turn signal replaced and while they replaced it, they cracked the glass and never told me. I found out days later when I walked behind my car and noticed it. When I went back and brought it to their attention, the front desk lady was incredibly rude about it. They also "fixed" by air conditioner by refilling it with Freon, even though it told them it was leaking. The staff didn't check to see if it was leaking until I came back and showed them there was not cold air when they told me to come pick it up. It was leaking so bad that they had to replace the evaporator unit, which requires the dashboard to be removed. When they put together the dashboard they did not hook back up a light, it was dangling by the gas peddle and they lost the plastic cover. I immediately noticed this when I went to get my car and demanded they fix it. The next morning they called at 9am to tell me it was ready. Sure enough, they didn't do anything, never ordered the plastic cover they threw away. The mean lady at the front desk was again very rude. After these two horrible experiences and after having been lied to twice, I will never recommend anyone ever takes their vehicle to this business ever. You will regret taking it there. The staff is very unfriendly, if they break something, they won't tell you. If you find a problem, they won't fix it.

So glad I found this place! They were able to check my breaks and rotors and assess rust damage. They replaced all the damaged parts and got it done in a speedy manner. I would definitely go back for any other repairs I need in the future.Service: BrakesService: Brakes

Alternator Repair - My wife was headed to the beach (on her day off and being from out of town) and the battery light came on. She wasn't sure what was going on, but having stopped by three other places, was eventually referred to Dinkins and I'm so glad she was. They were able to assess the vehicle right away and get it fixed the same day while she Uber'd to the beach waiting for it to be finished. Great people and great work.

Dinkins is an amazing local business for your car service needs! Previously, I made the mistake of taking the car to one of those quick oil change places a few times, and they managed to cross threaded my oil pan drain bolt and refuse responsibility. A friend recommended Dinkins, so I looked them up. It was super easy to request a time on their website to bring my car in to Dinkins for them to check it out, and I received a quick response. I dropped my car off the next morning, and in less than 2 hours, they diagnosed and repaired the issue, and changed my oil. The price was very fair. Also, Denise was very kind and professional with keeping me updated and making me feel very welcome there. My husband and I will definitely be back for any of our vehicles needs.Services: Engine repair, Oil change

They are professional and offered good quality service at a good value. They were open for me to communicate with the mechanic so that I have more insight other than just a final bottom line diagnosis. I appreciated that so that I can determine the urgent matter of the situation or if it was urgent. I will be returning to their service. They worked on my Volvo.Service: Air conditioning

We had a bike rack on my wife's Prius, and she decided to see if she could rip off the hatchback by backing up with it open in a low ceiling parking garage. Dinkins replaced the struts on the hatchback, and everything works perfectly again. Dinkins is one of the best mechanics I have ever used. Been going there for about nine years. Highly recommend them.

I am a single mom, and had a terrible experience w DINKINS auto service. Front desk lady seems to hate her job and has no customer service skill, she called me mid-morning to provide a quote but was short with me when I asked details/questions. I clearly explained I could not pay the amount of the quote $1700 so I did not approve some of the service to be done to reduce the bill to $1100 (or so i thought). i also asked to talk to a mechanic and she said all busy. Called me again early afternoon to tell me she had to order other parts, an extra $200, so my final bill is not $1900!!!! I was shocked, obviously there was a misunderstanding but she was short with me. she called again that day at 4:30pm to let me know that MY CAR IS NOT READY, mechanic already left for the day, i cant get my car back tonight. This never happened to me before, especially was sway bar links and bushing replacement (usually straightforward work). I asked her how I am supposed to go get my kid at school before 6pm without a car... she couldnt care less. Next morning, I called them, asked to get the original and updated quotes by email, and a written confirmation that my car will be ready today. she again had an attitude, and said no guarantee car will be ready... I explained that if they dont release my car that day, I would call the police. she laughed. I went to pick up my car with a male friend later that day, we tried to get to the bottom of this with the owner, he is the brother of that secretary, he was more reasonable but still shady, he said he was standing there when she gave me the quote over the phone, funny because I asked to talk to a mechanic and she said all busy... i ended up paying $1700 and cleared the air that I was really disappointed and will not come back. also had to pay ubers. lot of money spent in a shady auto repair shop, i do not recommend it. my friend also said he had similar bad experience, the final bill was more than initial quote by a lot, and the parts used not good had to replace soon after. from other bad reviews i read, it seems the front desk lady is racist... I have an accent (from Europe) but been in Charleston 22 yrs and i can tell she had an issue with me as a client.Service: Steering & suspension repair
