Great to deal with and fair prices. Alls I needed was a valve job and resurface on my heads and they took it upon themselves to remove a broken manifold stud that I never mentioned. I will absolutely be coming back to them.

These guys are great and passionate about their work. Sent them a cylinder head to mill, pressure check, and install some valve seals. The engine runs great and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend.

5 stars all day long. Got my rebuild motor back into car. Couldn't get it to run. Chris came over and set the timing and fixed multiple leaks, fuel, vacuum, antifreeze and adjust ed carb and car runs great. Got my money s worth. Car is now a little monster for a 289 chris 's mechanical skills are second to none!!!

Known Russ & Billy for years. Very decent people. I had them build a 347 sbf, before the pandemic. Pretty much heads to oil pan. When I had Larry's Auto Machine in Groton dyno the engine, it wasn't making any power. After pulling my heads, the valve spring tension was way off, and varied wildly. After spending $5k to build my engine (where I supplied most of the parts), I was a little annoyed to spend another $800 just to diagnose & fix the shoddy work. Granted mistakes happen. And I was mostly satisfied with the build, albeit much more expensive than I planned. I alerted Chris in-person about my concerns, and disappointment. My suggestion for any build, not just w/ Johnson is to build in "stages", and be proactive, educated and VOCAL on what you want. Don't just Trust that they, or any builder knows what you want, or that you have an "open wallet". If they don't like that? Then move on.Service: Motor building

The wait time was longer than expected and the price was higher than expected, but they did a beautiful job cutting the heads for my 3.0 99' Ford ranger. If you are looking for quality work over your wallet this is the place. Russ and Chris were a pleasure to do business with and really polite!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Called multiple times as they worked on mine and my bfs engine and a problem arose due to the work they did. they said not to drive it and that Chris would personally be by the next day to take a look. Here it is the next day called MULTIPLE times and no answer! After paying them A LOT of money and this is the quality I get! DO NOT USE THEM! They are only after your money and they clearly do not care about the quality of work they do!!

Chris and his dad were very helpful when i herd a strange knocking noise from engine area.Sound does not seem to be comming from inside engine as i thought, Rather somthing external ,pulley, AC or transmission/driveline. The noise was only happening during cold start, and accleration up to 2500 rpm it comes and goes intermittently.Somtimes it makes the sound sometimes it is perfectly fine.I notice it when comming to a stop and preceding to go again it remains present for awhile. Then if i let the car idle it goea away again.Chris has generously extended his curtosy to have my engine diagnosed at no charge to be 100% sure its nothing with the bottom end.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS i would avoid any shop that has quality control issues as there reasoning for an inability to return calls or finish projects...Wasted almost a month of my time with this place. extremely unprofessional. at first all seemed great. after two weeks without hearing back from them about my quote or when to expect it, i called and left a voicemail hoping to get an answer. another week and no answer or response so i called again. they answered and said its possible they cant do the work and need to call me back. no call back so i called an hour before close and left a voicemail hoping for the best. come monday around noon still no response so i called again, this time they finally answered only to tell me they couldn't perform the work. any shop with basic capabilities could machine and bore a cylinder and balance and fit a crank. now had they called me and not made me reach out to find this out maybe i wouldnt have had such a bad taste. but to waste three weeks is completely ridiculous. avoid them at all costs if you want anything done in a timely manner. will waste your time and never complete the work. in the same amount of time i wasted, another shop has guaranteed the work done in two weeks. save your time and money. go elsewhere and get it done in a timely manner, with people who actually answer the phone or return your call.
