I've been a customer of 5-Speed Auto for well over 10 years. We own two TDI VW New Beetles and 5-Speed Auto does all of our service and repairs. This is absolutely the best place to go for VW repairs, EVER. Fantastic service, fair price and honesty. They will not recommend any repairs that are not needed and he always uses top quality German parts and oil. The honesty and integrity give to me, by the owner, Walter, speaks volumes! 5-speed Auto is the place to bring your VW. It is a quality, one-in-a-million jewel of an auto repair shop.

I have a modified volkswagen golf and as a 17 year old kid that wants to learn and have stuff done right this is the place to go, Walter has the most fair prices and all genuine audi/Vw parts in stock for when you need them. Walter tells me eveything wrong with the car and what he did with various pictures and details. Walter also let s me know when parts should be replaced and if they need to be.I wouldn t trust anyone else but 5 speed with my car him and his wife are beyond nice and treat you like family. They keep you and your wallet happy-kid with the grey mk4 Gti

If you are looking for the absolute best service for VW/foreign makes, than this repair shop is for you. A family run business, Walter and his team are easily the most dedicated and knowledgable mechanics I have ever worked with. Their prices are very reasonable, and the work performed is 1st Class. They specialize in all aspects of both new and older VWs. When my 2013 CC unexpectedly needed another day in the shop, the owner gave me his personal car for the evening. This shop offers the best service, the best customer care, and I refuse to let anyone else do maintenance on my car. I strongly recommend 5 Speed Auto for anyone looking for the most proper and cost effective care.

Walter is the best. He does great work and keeps you informed of progress and completion of work. He has accommodated me by working on Sundays. Highly recommended professional and very reasonable pricing compared to what you get at the dealership

Just wanted to thank all my wonderful customers for the great reviews, i try and treat every car like its my own and take pride in all my work.If it wasn't for you people i would be stuck working for someone else which i did for the first 1/2 of my life and i was never truly appreciated so decided to set out on my own.Anyway in the military i was in a mechanic and went through a 6 month training course that showed me how to fix just about anything so i took that experience and opened my own place.I also am a highly skilled welder and worked at electric boat for a few years so exhaust work is very simple to me and lots of times I can repair a rusty section instead of replacing the whole assembly saving you hundreds of dollars.i would love to work on other vehicles besides VW and Audi but my shop is to small for that plus you need special tools and equipment which can run thousands of dollars. Should be 5 stars all the way. German parts. Unbelievable prices on them and labor. If you need a volkswagen fixed this shop could hear your car fart and tell you what's wrong with it. He stands by his work. No doubt. This is a real mechanic.

If you want a honest, dependable, trustworthy mechanic to work on your automobile than look no further than 5 Speed Auto in Smithfield, RI. Wally is the head mechanic and owner. He is extremely knowledge and hardworking. This shop specializes in Volkswagens and other German makes. I was introduced to him approx 13 years ago and haven't dealt with anybody else since. His prices are beyond fair, and his work is second to none. Can't say enough positive things about this family run business.

I paid a little more than I wanted to but boy, was it worth it! My car is running like new again after months of troubles. If you have a VW and live in RI, this is the place you want to go.
