Midas came in clutch with a convenient location just across from where I was working when my key got stuck in the ignition and my car wouldn't turn off fully. As an out of state resident, Sasha and the team at this Middletown location not only were quick to action and super understanding, but they managed to help me be able to get to/from NY safely over the weekend while waiting for the replacement shift stick part to arrive at the store. And then, Sasha very kindly squeezed in my install at the very end of the workday so I wouldn't have to come back on a separate day. So very thankful and would recommend their service to anyone in the area! Thank you all!!!

Last October, I made the mistake of entering Midas Muffler due to a check engine light. Lead technician Shawn orchestrated the removal of a perfectly functioning Subaru catalytic converter which I didn t need and replaced it with a second market broken one. I went back three times to try to rectify when I began to have a serious engine issue I didn t have before I visited Midas. Subaru subsequently diagnosed the issues and it cost almost $10k to render the car drivable. The catalytic converter they put in is messed up and they stole the guards. It s a criminal enterprise and the state of Rhode Island should revoke their inspection license. Shawn is nasty and I should have known I was in trouble when I saw a distraught woman there the first time who he called crazy when she complained he destroyed her car. Take it from me as a local do not patronize.Midas Muffler in Middletown Rhode Island!

The comments about this place overcharging people are very true. Paid close to $600 to have ONE tire replaced. I called different shops in the area and that I have gone to in the past and got a quote on the same situation and all quoted me at $350 for the tire replacement and TPMS sensor. When I told them how much I paid they laughed and also said I was scammed. Car was in their shop for 4 days before I got it back. Manager claimed "he helped me out" giving "discounts". DO NOT go here if you don't want to get scammed.

As a recent out of state move to RI, I took my rust-free southern truck in for the required inspection. They responded with an almost $800 quote to replace tie rods (which I did myself 3.5 years prior, and verified with my maintenance log) diagnose a code, and alignment. If I did that, they said they would overlook the louder than stock exhaust.I declined that offer and replaced the inner & outer tie rods, front struts, exhaust, and fixed the code myself for less than $350.After performing a rough alignment in my driveway with a tape measure, I returned for a re-inspection and alignment. No problems with the inspection (besides the interior of my truck smelling like cigarettes), but the alignment is questionable.$198 to adjust two wheels is asinine. I cannot tell what, if anything, they did. It doesn t feel or drive differently, and I can confirm the camber bolts were not touched (should have been with strut replacement) I was also not provided a paper showing the before/after alignment specs like all other reputable shops I ve used. It s basic geometry and having that information helps me to better maintain one of my older vehicles.This Midas confirms the reason why I perform work myself, and when more advanced equipment is needed, this shop is not my recommendation.Services: Vehicle Inspection, Wheel alignment

Their fast and efficient and do the job right.Shawn is a great guy & helped me out right away when I had a problem. They are expensive but I think it's worth paying a little bit more knowing the work is quality.

My young adult daughter who works two jobs and is trying to put herself through college went to this midas location this week for an oil change and to replace lightbulbs in her tail lights. She was told she needed back brakes and after hearing the price and asking whether she could hold off, she was told the parts were already "ordered". Interesting, they were able to complete the service right then and there. When I was told the price of the final bill I was appalled. $1860 for 2 brakes, lighbulbs, wipers and an oil change. Of that, $700 alone was in "labor fees" (she was in and out in 2 hours or less) including $70 to put in a $1.29 lighbulb, and a shop fee of $90. Had she needed all 4 brakes done on her 10 year old mid-size average car it would have cost 3k!!! If this is the going rate, who can afford to drive??? DO NOT let your children, your parents, or anyone who doesn't have extensive experience dealing with crooks or thieves get their vehicle serviced here!!!

Way to overcharge, not worth. They told by 400 dollars for the job, when I got there the price was $1250 dollars for change the starter and battery, they charged me $378 dollars for a charge that cost no more than $180, stay way from this place

I will never go back to this Midas and don t recommend going there to anyone.I brought my car in to get inspected, knowing which work had to be done for it to pass. They told me it needed $2,600 of work and wanted to replace a bunch of parts that weren t necessary. I was also told I could agree to $1,400 of the work and they would pass it for inspection and overlook the rest of the work if I got it done right then and there but if I didn t get it done and brought it back they would require all $2,600 of work to pass inspection.I said I would just take the fail, and ended up taking it to a different shop to get inspected. The other shop I brought it to was able to get my car inspected for $270 total. I spent roughly 10% of what this Midas was quoting me to get my car inspected at the other shop. Don t go here unless you want to get ripped off.

Stereotypical auto worker trying to overcharge and get people s money. Recommend coming here if you want to be scammed into arbitrary costs made up on the spot.They charge $150 per hour for labor.I said I d provide all the parts (oil, oil filter) and the guy said they would just charge labor. Nationally, Oil Change Labor costs are estimated between $41 and $52 while parts are priced between $89 and $92. This guy is trying to squeeze money out of people.Go to Shell Rapid Lube instead. They re 10 mins up the road, courteous, professional, transparent, and super fast (in and out in 20 mins).

I went to Midas for an oil change and waited for my vehicle to be ready. Last spring I went there for a vehicle inspection. Both visits were very good. The staff there are always courteous and efficient.

Andrew and Shawn made our tire replacement an absolute breeze. They scheduled us same-day, had our tire in within two days, and were on top of communication. They were extremely pleasant, and service was speedy. Waiting area is clean and comfy, as well as the bathroom. All-around excellent experience. Excellent service! I got online this AM, made an appointment for the same day. Oswaldo called me soon after I went online to confirm the time and let me know I wouldn t have to wait long. In the short time I was there, I observed him interacting professionally and kindly with several other customers. He was straight with everyone about their car, including mine. I feel reassured for my road trip.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Midas, and I couldn't be more impressed with their service. I recently had a faulty car battery and was able to make it to Midas, where the staff was very friendly and helpful. They quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced my battery in no time. Poor business practices, was assured one price on the phone and when I got there to pick up my car it was more than 100 dollars more than the price I was told. When I asked why I had not been notified the reply was " I'm notifying you now." Also no new inspection sticker was put on my windshield and no inspection checklist was included with my receipt so now, after an unpleasant exchange with the manager Shawn as I disputed the higher amount of money owed, I have to go back to get the inspection sticker that was not put on my car. I do not ever publicly complain about businesses, but I was so shocked at Shawn's disrespect and lack of understanding and basic kindness in the face of his error that I could not help but share my experience. I will not bring my car here to be fixed or inspected again and will strongly dissuade others from bringing their cars to this unfriendly business.

Have gone to Midas in Middletown a bunch of times over the years for regular oil changes as well as one-off consultations for issues. The team is incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful every time and it always feels like I ve asked for help from an uncle or relative when I bring in my car. They ve been able to help in a pinch with replacing batteries, brake pads, and general checkups and their hours make them much more accessible on the weekends than a lot of other options on the island. They price fairly and are very communicative about what needs to be done immediately versus what could be put off until another time. They are my go-to for anything related to my car!
