What I like best about Downtown Auto is dealing with genuine human beings--no hype, no impersonal receptions either on the phone or in person, no incomplete or evasive responses to questions, no inflated prices nor devious ways of quietly fleecing the customer--in short, NONE of the things one unfortunately runs into with too many companies everywhere, in every field.Instead, one receives courteous, patient, honest, down-to-earth customer treatment from start to finish--and of course, competent and thorough work on the vehicle in their care.Only this sort of service moves me to bother writing reviews! Thanks, Downtown Auto, Ashley, Kevin Moon, and the others who make the place what it is.

Best and honest service in South County! While waiting a man came in saying that a service light was on. Rather than charging the man he was told that the light was for an oil change. Honesty that is what you get atDowntown Auto

We had an unexpected flat tire on a Saturday during our journey from NYC to Newport for work, and we were in quite a desperate situation. Dylan at this garage appeared like a miracle, truly our angel in disguise! He not only promptly addressed our tire issue but went above and beyond by helping us even though the garage was officially closed for the day.What stood out the most was Dylan's genuine empathy and honesty. He didn't overcharge for the service, despite it being an after-hours emergency. In a stressful situation, finding someone so understanding and fair was a huge relief.We wholeheartedly recommend this garage - he is not just a professional, but also compassionate individual who care about his customers. Our sincere thanks to Dylan for saving our day and preventing us from incurring significant expenses due to a delayed arrival.More than 100% satisfied and grateful!

I will only take my truck to Kevin. I totally trust them. Very polite staff. It has taken me along time to trust someone with my truck, been screwed over a lot. But I found Downtown Auto and only trust them. I have lived in Hope Valley most of life over 36 years now. My favorite place for all my auto repair needs! Kevin diagnosed and fixed an ongoing problem (that persisted with a different mechanic) in a timely manner, and didn'tbreak the bank. A true mechanic that knows his stuff!The staff is friendly and very professional, and go out of their way to provide superior customer service. Friendly staff and quick turnaround on my car. Saved me quite a bit by not trying to oversell me on stuff not needed to fix the issue. Mechanic was very professional explained everything and answered all of my questions. Kevin is amazing! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my vehicles. He even fixed problems for my friends that other mechanics couldn't figure out . Ask for Ashley she'll give you great customer service.

My cooler line had a major problem while I was driving back to New York from Newport Rhode Island. Kevin and his team took in my car and using good old fashion mechanical work got me back on the road within a few hours. I could not be more grateful for their excellent service in bailing me out of a huge document. These guys are the best! Highly recommend.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Always helpful and reasonable in their work. The courtesy and service is far and away the best we've had - including dealership service departments we've dealt with in the past. They quickly put you back on the road without draining your bank account. Highly recommend them!

Had a scheduled repair for Friday and was able to have it returned to me the same day, despite complications with removing parts. They ended up staying a bit later in order to get the vehicle finished after I explained I needed it early the next morning. I appreciate the work these guys do here as they are informative and communicate well. It's extremely helpful sometimes speaking with the actual mechanic. All of them(especially Kevin) are more than willing to be friendly with customers as opposed to just relying on the front desk. Would highly recommend Downtown Auto over the other shops in the area.

fixed my old toyota with carburetor issues for an exceptionally fair price. he can get backed up and I don't know how he handles the work load...be patient and you will get an honest repair!-update also awesome job mounting 4 new tires!

Took my 1951 Chevy and was very pleased with the service. A small shop but the work done was quick and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend them and will be returning for any work I need done. Thanks Kevin & Phil.

I had a problem after the storm with the plastic shield under my engine coming loose. With no appointment and no advance notice Downtown Auto Repair squeezed me in for a fix. The mechanic that spoke with me was a straight-up, no BS kinda guy which is how it should be. 10-15 minutes later I was on the road with a super reasonable price and a smile on my face!This isn't my first visit but it is my second 5-star visit!

They could've fixed what was wrong and charged me but the explained that I would just be wasting my money as the car wasn't worth it. Always appreciate honesty. Will be back with my other vehicles.

Hmmm....repaired by Kevin and crew for around $225....this included $55 for state inspection---which it finally passed. It had failed up to this point at other shops / mechanics. Got the job done fast and did the job without adding pointless other jobs. Conclusion is a very honest no nonsense mechanic I will suggest this place to family and friend and will take my car here again. Thank you Downtown Auto

Have a 2010 Ford Escape with a misfire in the #2 cyl had it checked out and was told had a bad exhaust valve knew it would cost a around 1500 to fix. Had Kevin fix it took a 2 and a half weeks to fix but was expected. Got the car back and drove for a month ended up with the same problem. Kevin took it back and redid the job for nothing wasn't his fault the machine shop didn't do there job. Being an ex mechanic myself I knew what They didn't do. They fixed it at no charge running great now thanks Kevin .

They price gouge, hold your car and say they're shorthanded...it's all pick and choose who's car they do,...not happy, they've had my vehicle for 6 months.....

Kevin is a stand up guy, he worked on my Volvo and made sure to keep us updated on what was going on. As a small business owner who just opened up recently, he already has a ton of client's and he treats them like friends or family. The mechanics are all trained and seem to know what they're doing.

They did not even look at my car. On Wednesday I made an appointment to bring in my car on Saturday. They said they would look at it, and if it was an easy fix, they could do it. Arrived early on Saturday to drop it off. Waited all morning for a call, and when I hadn't heard from them I called and was told "We had other things to do." So I came to pick up the car. Nobody said "I'm sorry," or we can see you on Monday, just "The keys are in the car." As I started to leave, I thought maybe there had been a mistake, so I turned around and asked, "So, just checking, I had an appointment...right?" "Yeah," was all she said. So not the best experience, maybe yours will be better.

Great work on replacing an old muffler for less than local competitors, came back after a month because a bracket was rattling and it was no problem to put on the rack and tighten up and out the door no problem.

While on vacation noticed a sound coming from the suspension. I was able to bring my car in right away, and have it diagnosed. Very helpful and friendly, would recommend.
