I am an automotive hobbiest. I have worked on restoring and modifying my cars since I was 15 years old (now in my 60's). My current project is a 1966 Mustang Convertible, purchased new by my parents. My dad spent his retirement restoring the car, and now is my turn. After about a 2-year process of rebuilding/modifying of the front suspension, and converting to front disc brakes (along with a handful of other smaller projects) I began looking for a pro to go over the car to make sure it was up to snuff. It also needed a custom front end alignment and some automatic transmission work. Finding a shop that would work on an older classic proved challenging. After some research and a few phone calls, I chose Lewis Automotive in West Chester. I had several conversation with the owner Glen as well as the shop lead Pat. Both of them are old school enthusiast and I was instantly comfortable leaving my baby in their capable hands. Since it was going into winter, I was in no hurry to get everything done quickly.Now that the car is done, I am very happy with the results of the TLC she has been given over the past couple of months. Here are the grades I gave;Alignment - tracks straight and true - A+Transmission - nice firm shifts, not too harsh - A+Throttle response/acceleration were great - A+Brakes - great balance and superior stopping power - A+Overall value for cost - OUTSTANDINGLewis Automotive will be my destination of choice for any future major work on the Mustang.

Pat Rooney at Lewis Automotive is THE BEST!I had an appointment at another shop in the Boro and I got there with my husband to drop off and they said they were short staffed and canceled my appointment with no notice!I called around and Lewis Automotive and he said they were booked but assured me they would fit us in that day! Pat was so helpful and his customer service is top notch! Highly recommendIs you are looking for a nice friendly neighborhood Auto repair facility.

A little over a year ago, I was having some weird car troubles while living in West Chester for school and couldn t drive 2 hours home to my local mechanic. I brought my vehicle to Lewis Automotive and they completely found and solved an obscure issue with my axles that was causing so many of my car problems. Jump to a couple of weeks ago, I was having a host of coolant leaking issues that I couldn t get to the bottom of. Lewis Automotive throughly inspected and repaired my vehicle, as well as provided me with their recommendations for future maintenance tailored to my vehicle (2007 VW Jetta). My car has 236,000 miles and is still driving like it s new thanks to these guys. They are so thorough and informative, and their prices are extremely reasonable. I m going to miss their service when I leave the area.

Over the years I have developed a respect and trust for the work that Glenn, Pat and the rest of the staff at Lewis Automotive do each time I require their help. My feelings are shared by my son-in-law, a retired fire captain along with his son, a student at a local college. Our three generations would not go anywhere else for our automotive service.

I'm (unfortunately) someone who is not great with vehicle care/vehicle knowledge and I always feel nervous taking my vehicle to new mechanics and getting ripped off. After research, I found Lewis Automotive and my experience today was wonderful. Pat was detail-oriented, timely, and found a solution to a problem another mechanic in the WC borough was going to charge me thousands for! The shop was clean, organized, and my husband and I will definitely be back!

Absolutely the best service garage in the West Chester area. They take care of all my vehicles from my car, my sports car, my truck and horse trailers. This is the best auto mechanic I've ever visited (and I'm picky about mechanics). These folks do excellent work. They're honest, dependable, courteous, and informative. I take my 2011 Audi A4 and 2014 Hyundai Accent to Lewis Automotive, and I've always been delighted with the service I received.Pat and Glenn are the most solid people, truly. Pat called my personal cell phone a few days after I was discharged from the hospital, just to check on me. They're really just fantastic people to interact with. I feel very fortunate to have such a great place to take my cars. Family business with family values! I've been coming to Lewis Automotive since I was 18 yrs old with my first car, a '84 Chevy Cavalier Hatchback. Over the years, I have taken ALL of my vehicles to Lewis Automotive for maintenance as well as needed repair(s). My last visit was very unplanned. The tire stem broke off my tire when I stopped to fill them at a local gas station. I was expecting to need a new tire. Nope!, Glenn was able to patch it and I paid considerably LESS then I was expecting.I've known the Lewis family for many many years, they've always provided me with great customer service at an awesome price and all with a smile! Let me tell you just how wonderful Glen & Pat are. My husband and I were looking for a used car for our daughter. Something safe and reliable. We drove past Lewis automotive accidentally and a car they had for sale caught our eye. We are from Southern Chesco and never heard of Lewis. We took it for a ride and loved it. It had a few minor problems but they were all taken care of immediately. We had another problem a few days later and didn t know what to think but Glen gave us his word. Not only did they send a tow truck to us (45 mins away) and repair the problem that was a simple fix, they called several times to make sure all was well! I can t say enough about Lewis automotive and I can understand why they have a stellar reputation. The only complaint I have is that they aren t closer to me. This business is a true gem. Highly recommend Lewis Automotive! The crew working here is awesome, always full of energy and super nice. They treat you like family. Great communication and work is done in a timely manner. Once had my inspection done along with an alignment done in about an hour! Very thorough and explain everything that needs to be done so that you understand what needs to be done and why. The shop is very neat and organized. You can tell Glenn and Pat care about their customers and love what they do. Bunch of studs having a great time doing what they love! Great place!

Lewis Automotive has always provided excellent service for me on all 5 of my vehicles. I do most of my own automotive repairs, but still rely on shops for a/c work, state inspections, or similar. If I find a shop that I can trust, I use them repeatedly. This is a family run business (3 generations) and they rely on repeat business; the customer is always treated right. Yesterday, just before leaving on an extended car trip, I noted a noise from the front right wheel on my Toyota Highlander shortly after lunch. I called Lewis, stated my problem and concern with Glenn, who then offered to look at my vehicle on short notice. When I arrived, Pat personally road tested the vehicle with me, confirmed the noise, and immediately put the car on a lift to diagnosis the issue...which was caused by me failing to properly torque a wheel after switching out snow tires weeks earlier. Problem solved, immediately. I was out in less than 45 minutes with no appointment, a repaired vehicle, and peace of mind prior to an 1,100 mile road trip. THAT is customer service for a repeat customer. Customer loyalty works both ways. Highest recommendation.

Lewis Automotive was incredibly helpful to me in replacing one of the sway bars in my car. They were able to see my car immediately, and eager to help when I still had problems after my first visit. Pat was very helpful, kind, and thorough.

From a good word of mouth recommendation, I brought in a used car I was considering buying to Lewis Automotive for a once-over. They were very thorough and friendly. Glenn took the time to talk over their report, the car's sale price (and why it was too high!) and other aspects of the purchase process. He didn't try to sell me on any extra work, and the $90 for the full check was well worth it (it took about an hour). I was able to save that $$ and a lot more just by showing the seller the report and having the extra "behind the scenes" knowledge from Glenn.

I have only the highest recommendations for Lewis Automotive, and I ve recommended them to my family and friends. I ve been very happy with Glenn and his highly knowledgeable mechanics, and his very friendly staff, for over 20 years. If you are looking for truly honest people, then look no further. They always do an excellent job, and they really know cars. You will never have to worry about any sales talk, and they are always straight shooters. I have tried many different mechanics and dealers over the years, and Lewis is by far the best. I could go on, but let s just say you will be glad you found them.

Lewis automotive is one of the best mechanics I have ever worked with! When I was new to the area I was nervous about having to find a new mechanic , especially when I owned an older vehicle. Glenn and his team put me at ease from the moment I walked through the door. They are professional, friendly and knowledgable in the industry. It is a family owned business and a very refreshing change from all the corporate shops trying to nickel and dime you. Glenn discussed everything prior to doing any work on my car so I wasn't faced with some large unexpected bill at the end of the visit. When I purchased a new car from a used dealer Glenn himself was willing to take it for a test drive and take a quick look to be sure I was getting a good car. I would recommend Glenn and his team to anyone looking for a great and friendly mechanic. I am happy to support such a great local business!

I have been a customer of Lewis Automotive for almost 20 years. They are a family owned business and that is evident by how all the employees treat their customers, with care and respect. I always feel like I am getting an honest assessment of what is needed for my car. The Lewis team is very thorough and professional. Lewis is the best mechanic I have ever been too. They are honest, good people, who take the time to go over your car like it was their own and help you understand what service you need right away and what can be deferred. My mom referred me to Glenn, and now my husband and I have been taking our cars to Lewis since 2011. Solid business and great mechanics.

Yesterday I stupidly ran down my 6 year old battery and was stranded. Lewis got me to their shop, ordered a highly specialized hybrid battery and picked it up. Installed the battery and test-drove it, and sent me on my way before the end of the day. This was not the first time they rescued me. A year ago I had a hard to diagnose problem with my drive train. They not only figured it out, but they researched my warranty and sent me to the dealership armed with both a diagnosis and a warranty claim when the dealership tried to claim I wasn't covered. If you need a competent AND HONEST auto mechanic, Lewis is your answer.Service: Battery

Top notch technicians and friendly service.... these guys are the best!Recently, I had a challenging suspension issue on my wife's car that I couldn't seem to get resolved. So I brought the car to Lewis Automotive to have them look at it. The mechanic as well as the owner, Glenn, both took the time to take a ride with me in the car to understand the issue. They properly diagnosed the problem, resulting in a fix requiring no parts! A lot of shops would have just thrown parts at the problem until it was fixed, which could have been very expensive. Thankfully, the mechanics at Lewis are masters at diagnosing problems and were able to find the root cause of the issue before they had to install any parts. The car now sounds great, my wife is happy and the price was much less than I expected.I can't thank Glenn and his team enough for the great work!Thank you!!!

The guys at Lewis have completely restored my faith in mechanics. I have had a lot of trouble with a chain automotive place recently and finally someone at work recommended I take my car to Lewis. Thank goodness I listened. The guys here are honest, patient (which is important because I ask a ton of questions), and they explain everything thoroughly without making you feel like your inconveniencing them. I will never take my car anywhere else and I will be recommending these guys to anyone who will listen.
