I was traveling with my son for a mini vacation when my transmission started to go. I was lucky to be towed to Cottman who, first of all, was the only mechanic even willing to help me, but secondly, went way above and beyond to get me the help I needed. My business went to the dealership only because the issue was under warranty but that didn't stop Shawn from Cottman from being a stand up, honest person who even called me the next day to make sure I was okay. I highly recommend him and his business. It's hard to find a mechanic like that.

Shop said the job would take several weeks and lost my phone number (or recorded the wrong number when I gave it to them), I called 3 weeks in to check progress. Shop had been done for about 1.5 weeks. During the time my car was in their garage, the engine bay was infested with mice. After getting car back, the transmission worked fine, but I smelled something foul coming from the air vents and under the hood. I tried to get the issue resolved for cheap at a nearby dealership (Cottman's location is 1.5 hours away from me). The dealership claimed the transmission was covered in fluid that was dripping and burning on the exhaust, but I'm not so sure that was the issue. The smell does not resemble burning CVT fluid as far as I can tell. The dealership's clean up didn't work to remove the smell, so I took it back to Cottman's. They had it for almost another 2 weeks. I left voicemails trying to reach them, but upon getting someone on the phone, they said they don't check their voicemail box. They claimed to have lifted my transmission out again and found nothing wet. They said they took pictures, but they never sent me any. It looked like all they did was blast the engine bay with an air compressor and use a volatile smelling deodorizer. Some of the fiber the mice were nesting in was still there, as were the mouse droppings. I asked them what else they could do to identify and remove the foul smell. The employee on the phone said they could open up the dash to check, but his boss wouldn't do anything else complimentary, despite me arguing that they should hold themselves accountable and fix the issue that they created. Really disappointing. Despite the distance from home, I took my car to Cottman's in Stroudsburg because of their great reputation. Everyone makes mistakes, and I wouldn't feel any sort of way about this if they'd owned up and did everything they had to do to resolve the smell issue. I even said I'd have to leave a negative review if they wouldn't follow through, and that didn't seem to bother the employee on the phone. I'm still dealing with the smell. I cleaned out my engine bay as best I could and ordered an AC cleaning kit. Hopefully that works.

Successful repair, most important. Friendly, professional, communicative, all important to me. No surprises, no quote given to get the work, then doubling it after the work is locked in, very important to me. I do most of my own work at home, cheaper, quicker, and most convenient. Without hesitation, Cottman is my go to when I can't get the job done.

Invoice can be more detailed on what was fixed and what possibly needs to be done. If running diagnostic you should have written information on codes that came up and things to look for. When a customer ask to see old part and you agree but can't produce part. Overall mechanic is pleasant job done within 24hrs.

I needed my transmission and clutch replaced in my '02 Celica GT-S. Out of the 3 places I called, Cottmans was able to give me a quote during my first conversation with them, and it was well under what the other businesses ended up quoting me at. They were also able to schedule me in within a week when the others expected me to wait at least 4-6 weeks. In the process of replacing the transmission there were also a few odds and ends to do with the job at hand such as replacing the mounts, which required some extra time and work, but when all was said and done they kept to the quote they gave me. They were super friendly, listened to my concerns and genuinely cared about them. They completed the job in a super efficient, as well as quality manner. My baby drives so much better now and I couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend these guys for any work you may need done, especially after having had them do a pretty big job on mine. Very reliable and fare shop. My transmission broke down while we were visiting the area (skiing). I called-up many transmission shops around, most told me I have to wait for at least 2-3 days to only look at my car, plus 3-4 days to finish the job. When I called this shop, the owner Sal told me they can start right away, nicely explained to me over the phone all the possible options I may have with this transmission, including possible expense. When my car was brought there, they started almost immediately, even though all their lifts were full and clearly they were very busy with all other cars. I learned that it is impossible to figure the exact damage inside the transmission without taking it apart, so that's what they did, and Sal gave me all the details of the damage and the price to rebuild this transmission, as well as the option to install used or new transmission. Knowing the damage, I checked prices in several local shops to rebuild it, all of them gave me the higher price than Sal. They finished the job on time, as promised (in 2 days), gave me 3 year/36,000 miles nationwide guarantee. The shop is is large, clean, and well equipped. Owner and his guys are very nice and professional.

Very friendly.The owner Sal even checked the work that was to be done.Stayed right with the estamite given and best of all got a 2 week check up after the work was done.I was very happy with the whole experience.I would use them for any work I would need done.

If I could give no stars I would. They appear very dishonest. We brought two cars there for inspection both cars failed. They gave a list of things that was wrong with one car, the other failed (according to them) due to broken fog light. We took the cars to be repaired based off their list, brought the one car back that failed (according to them) because of broken fog light repaired but now all of a sudden it fails again because of a new issue that will cost almost $600 to fix.... took said car to another inspection place for a second opinion and it passes inspection and the people at the other place tells us the "issue" cottman pointed out wasn't an issue AT ALL. I would NEVER recommend this place and will never return. Driver beware!!!!

The personnel that work there are pretty professional over the phone and in person for the most part however the facility is kind of outdated the waiting room is very limited to its capacity and my only gripe is that the person that I dealt with really tried to overcharge me on some transmission work. Other than that on simple maintenance for your vehicle the pricing is very reasonable

These guys help me every time I'm in a jam. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Their prices are fair and they always answer any questions I ask with a smile. The best part is they are honest. I have been to a lot of mechanics in this area and they have saved me so much money by not overdoing it. Seriously people, these guys are the best. Plus they have arcades in their waiting room!

During a road trip I broke down on route 80 and had my car towed to Cottman Transmission knowing nothing about the auto shop. The shop was closed and I had to leave my key in the key drop. Being from Philadelphia I was less than thrilled about this but put my faith in the car gods and took a chance. By the time I called Cottman the next morning (around 9:30am) the owner had already been looking at my car for a half hour an knew what was wrong!!!! I was shocked and so impressed with them especially since my car was fixed the same day! The price was unbeatable and the people that work there were fantastic. Don'tsleep on this one!!

Great service, I called them in a panic, my son's transmission went out, they where very friendly and helpful, and reassuring that they would take care of the car. Well !!!! They did a wonderful job and I'm very grateful for the there great service, and I got a great warranty too. THANK YOU.

It was refreshing to get straight up information about the steps it would take to get my tranny fixed on my 2003 Ford Windstar. Sal, was a very straight up person and I really appreciated that from him. My situation included dealing with an insurance company who would not approve the vehicle to get fixed unless the tranny was taken apart and left for an inspector of the insurance company to look over before approval. I was told by Sal that I would be responsible for the diagnosis of the vehicle if the company did not approve the repair( that's honesty and straightforward). I understood what my choice was and went ahead with the diagnostic. Fortunately the repair was authorized. I got the vehicle back on 12/20/13 and so far no problems. Will keep the public posted if any troubles occur. Was very impressed with Sal and the professional service he provided along with his staff.

Was warned by 2 other auto repair shops to stay away from Cottman TransmissionPaid close to $5,000 for them to supposedly fully rebuild my transmissionPicked up my van then drove 170 miles and transmission went into no connect mode..could not go forward or reversePaid a local repair shop to reboot the transmission, next day transmission list traction and engine raced between shifting.Now they say my warrantee is void because my alternator is bad.I just experienced a very hard and extremely expensive lesson...Stay Away From COTTMAN Transmission!!!!! Did you hear me?Stay away from Cottman transmission...

The guys at Cottman were very friendly and knowledgeable. Santo was very professional and explained everything to us about our transmission. I would definitely recommend this Cottman to my friends and family
