All the reviews are accurate worst rental car place ever. If I could give zero stars I would. I have never experienced more rude and disrespectful behavior in my life. The hertz rental car company made me feel incompetent and unintelligent while I was asking my questions. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE. I made a reservation well in advance, and they didn t end up giving me a car. They really screwed me over especially when I needed to go home for the holidays. Shame on Hertz.

They did not have the vehicle we reserved so we asked if we could have one of equal rental value. They were hesitant on giving us a vehicle of the same rental price value. The vehicle we were suppose to get apparently was unavailable. But when I went to drop off the other rentals we got, I saw the same vehicle that we were suppose to have with a flat tire. I did point it out to the individual even though I didn't know what rental company it belonged to. Anyway, the car that we finally got was good and bad. The alignment was way off, the report that was done on the car to check to make sure nothing was wrong with it, was a lie. There was so much bumper damage to the vehicle that wasn't reported and I wanted to make sure we were not going to get charged for it, luckily we took before (night/dark photos) and after pictures (day photos). Not only that, the car was washed before we were given it and no one reported it. We also cleaned it and washed it before we dropped it off. Other than that, they give you a base price for the vehicle. Then afterwards when you pick or drop off the vehicle, you end up paying another $150 or more even without add-ons. That's what ended up happening to us paying extra for a vehicle that was or could have been unsafe. Yes, we could have took it back, but we didn't really notice it until we did a long trip on the highway. Plus, they were closed and we had already left the state. Just be careful when renting a vehicle. Take pictures before and after!

The lady at the desk, Sharon, refused us to rent a car we booked online. She said that she won t cause they won t rent out to people who are below 21. However, I mentioned in the app that I am 20 and it allowed me to book the reservation. She was racist and very rude to us. Hertz also clearly allows us to rent a car to everyone who is 20 or above since me rented a car 6 months ago at the same location. She clearly had a problem with us.She didn t even allow me to speak with their manager and called the cops on us. We already made a hotel reservation at our destination and it s non refundable and they didn t provide me any compensation.

Should have read the reviews. Showed up to pickup the car and was told I did not have the right auto insurance on my personal car to rent a car from them (?? Never heard that before) I was left with 6 kids + suitcases and told sorry we cannot give you the car thank goodness Avis next door was able to rent to me with no issues. On top of it all, they still charged my card $800. Now going through refund process. Absolutely ridiculous. Save your sanity and rent from anywhere else!!!

Look at all the one star reviews below before renting from this place.When I went to pick up the car the lady was extremely rude to me for no reason to the point where I said ' if you don't want my business I will just go somewhere else'. Then she became more polite.After I returned the rental I called them again because they did not send my receipt to my email and I needed to expense it for a work credit card. I called them over 10 TIMES and every time they said they would send it and I never received it. I even spoke to the manager who said she was going to scan it and send it, and still no receipt in my inbox. Turns out they had spelled my email and name wrong every time.I finally called again today and Will answered, super polite, and super helpful. He checked my name in the system and told me it was misspelt, which I didn't understand how since every other time I called I spelled out my name. Will was able to send me my receipt in less than one minute. Thank god for Will!

Very rude management. Completely unaccommodating. Condescending. Not customer centric at all. Took business to Enterprise where I received better pricing and service. Never again Hertz....

I called in for an insurance rental. I understand the airport doesn t do that. However due to staffing shortages they have the other location closed. When I tried to ask for even advice I was met with Rude behavior and attitude. I travel a lot for work and never have had anyone speak to me in this manor. I called corporate and had them help me book to pick my car up in Pittsburgh and return it here. Even with the drop off return I had a few questions and the lady at the desk couldn t be bothered to answer them and had an attitude that I even thought to bring the car here after picking it up else where after corporate helped me.I always rent through budget and my insurance had me use Hertz. I will NEVER again use this company and I recommend you go else where if you have any questions as they are the least helpful people. I only needed the car to visit my brother in the military and go support him and his family and they couldn t be bothered to assist in anyway even with being nice and just answering questions without an attitude.

Worst rental experience ever! I reserved a car online months ago and when I went to pick it up they were extremely rude, told me that I couldn t take the car because I wasn t flying back out of the airport the day I was returning the car, which makes no difference since I was returning it to the airport, I only needed a car for a portion of my trip. They then told me I would have to pay $500 a day if I wanted the car for part of my trip. Who has ever heard of such a thing?? Save yourself the trouble and rent from enterprise or Avis, I have taken this trip and never had a problem with any rental place. This was my first and last time I will ever try to rent from hertz! If I could give negative 20 stars I would! Luckily for me, I went to enterprise down the street taking an Uber and it was cheaper and a better car!

The vehicle was exceptionally clean for starters. I was absolutely stunned by the low mileage. I have never seen a car with under 1,000 miles!! The rental process was smooth and knowledgeable. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Sharon and Will were awesome and made a great team working together to help out my party's complex rental needs!

I rented from them many times over the years without problems. Last year they overcharged me and I disputed it. After a lot of back and forth, I gave up. They won. They were wrong but they won. Today, I decided to give them another chance and reserved a car. I landed at the airport and they said our franchise put you on the do not rent list . No notice. No warning. And I even got a confirmation email for this rental. In my opinion, these people are awful and incredibly stupid and sure don t understand customer service. Please never rent from them. My guess is that the franchise was sold by a good group to this sorry pack of losers and misfits.

As best I can tell they are somehow disconnected from the Hertz online reservation system. Twice I have made advance reservations to find out they have no cars day-of -- the second time I was wise enough to call ahead. You also have to cancel the reservation with Hertz corporate yourself. Hertz corporate customer service says "you don't need to worry, it's been cancelled." I do still need to worry, as I needed a car!

Complete incompetence. I reserved a car from Hertz in Altoona. When I arrived, they told me my reservation had been cancelled even though I received a text message remining me of my reservation at 9 p.m. the night before. I eventually took an Uber to the airport at Penn State for a meeting. On my way I reserved a car at the airport with Hertz. When I arrived at the counter, they told me they had no cars so I rented with Budget instead. A week later I got an email saying I was being charged for not picking up my Hertz car. I called the complain. The lady told me the charge would be reversed. It wasn't. I had to file a dispute with my debit card company. So basically, they took two reservations when they had no cars, and then charged me because I didn't pick up the second car after telling me they didn't have any cars. Un-freaking-real.

I will give this location Zero, if Google allows me to do that. I would NEVER rent from Hertz. I had a Hertz reservation for a one- day rental. When I arrived this location, the agent or employee refused to give me a car. He explained that according to their policy, he could not give me a car because my driver s license address is a Philadelphia address and I only rented for one day. This explanation just doesn t make sense to me. Now, this location is trying to charge me for a no show-up fee for my reservation. I called them for requesting for a refund. The agent answered me saying someone would call me back. But no one called me back. I then called Hertz Customers Service center, the customer service agent cannot find this charge from their billing system. But this charge has been already processed and showed up on my account. Absurd! If you need to rent a car, never rent from Hertz!

We are a military family so we travel A LOT! I have never had a worse experience. The staff is absolutely miserable and don t care to help whatsoever. We had booked a month in advance and I called twice to confirm that my booking was fine. Both times they were rude but confirmed my booking was fine. The day came and my booking was nowhere to be found. The person in charge, Shelly said, it was there when you called and now it is not- nothing I can do . I was hung up on twice. Then there was a man who answered and was too much of a coward to give me his name but confirmed he did have vehicles available but still will not book me one, then hung up.STAY AWAY FROM THESE MISERABLE AND BITTER PEOPLE!

What a bad experience I had, the service was so bad that I d rather wish I have never experienced it. We booked a midsize suv that was available for under the age of 25 on the website, but they keep telling they can t rent is the car. I even asked them to go online with their own computer and there was nothing that said people under 25 cannot rent a L class vehicle. I tried to explain but the guy was really rude saying I m twisting the words and will not rent us any car at all, even said he will call the police to send us out. We had a second reservation that they said could rent us, but literally gave it to someone else. Trust me, do not rent from at least this location, it s definitely gonna open up your eyes on how bad the customer service is under the name of a bit company.

I made reservation for 7 pm but wanted to ask if I could pick up the car at 6:30 p.m. Called Hertz station several times in the afternoon. No one one answered the phone, so I left a message. Nobody called back, so I showed up at the scheduled time. The station was empty. I waited 20 minutes and still no attendant showed up. Luckily Avis had a car available. I left the car rental area at 7:30 p.m. and still nobody at Hertz station. Avoid this Hertz location.

#neveragain. When my family and I visited University Park in April of this year for my 2020 college graduation that was cancelled due to COVID-19, I didn't have a very pleasant experience with this Hertz at all. Besides there being no opportunities to pay in advance before picking up my rental, along with charges that were never mentioned on Hertz's website and caught me off guard (I rented from a Hertz in West Chester that had this feature to pay ahead, but this one didn't), that "sports car" wasn't available and for my weekend, I got stuck with a family sized SUV that probably could've seated every member of my family. Unless you want to have a P.I.T.A experience (excluding if you come to University Park by air), don't rent from this particular Hertz.

ZERO stars ! Absolute rude guy on front desk Saturday 19 Feb 2022 (afternoon). He denied giving us the rental car despite having a confirmed booking made in person on Fri 18 Feb 2022 night. He is arrogant and nasty. To that well built man wearing a cap- Keep your attitude to yourself. This Hertz location is franchise and may be thats the reason they do not think twice before misbehaving. Although our travel was delayed by an hour, I am glad our trip worked out with Avis next door at the airport with an awesome experience. Never coming back to Hertz ever again. Confirmation no. Extremely rude staff: I had an issue with my bill where I was charged a $500 smoking fee even though I have never smoked in my entire life. Currently going through the dispute process with Hertz, but the staff from this location was so very rude on the phone, blaming me and turning my words around, refusing to even hear me out. I have spent many hours on the phone with customer service reps as well as car rental companies, but I have never had an experience like this where I had to hang up because the person on the other end was so extremely rude. I won't be renting from this location again.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. I ve rented cars for better then 15 years and I ve never had a mileage cap. It was something like 100 miles a day and anything over that was 75 cents a mile. So if you are paying out the nose for a rental just for local driving go for it. I got an attitude and told a story about how a customer put 9000 miles on a car. Told it s because of local owners. Well local owners who love gouging customers. The hold was also incredibly high. At least a few hundred dollars.To top it off the customer service was awful. I felt like I was committing a crime renting a car out with this ladies attitude. That I was being booked in at the local jail. I feel like these are the type of people if they found a hair line scratch that s been there they would try to make you pay for it and as many people as possible after that. Avoid avoid avoid

Reserved a vehicle through national toll free number. They reserved us a car, took our credit card number. My husband drove 40 minutes to pick up the vehicle and the counter refused to give us the car we reserved. Jerk behind the counter stated they are a fanchisee and not obligated to honor online or corporate reservations. Corporate/national office refused to do anything about it. DO NOT RISK RENTING FROM THIS COMPANY.

I reserved online and went to pick up the car I rented. I have rented multiple times in the past with no issue using the same credit card. This time their card reader wouldn t read my card when swiped. I was told my card stripe was worn out. I examined it and it appeared to be intact. They did not have a chip reader. Person at the desk called supervisor who called another supervisor and they refused to manually type my card number in. The reason given was in case I disputed a charge they wouldn t get paid. Baffled for sure! Desk attendant very apologetic and kind but was not allowed to correct the issue. Why am I the problem? Why are you assuming I would dispute? Why don t you have upgraded software to process my card? i have you been a very loyal customer. You lost revenue from me today and unfortunately in the future. Very disappointed that you are not loyal to your returning customers. Thanks to the kind clerk who tried to advocate for me with management. I will also be sharing this with Hertz corporate.

Save yourself time and energy and dont book with them at all. the worst customer service they have. The people at the booth need some training for their customer service and having some empathy. We had a situation at hand and they were not helpful at all. They are rude and nasty. I am going to make sure that I never book from them again, this location not Hertz itself.

Honestly not a great location. I understand they're a smaller operation but most times I find myself looking at a sign that says "be back in 10 minutes, call so and so if you need assistance". I don't really blame the person who's there. They have to run the counter AND clean the cars when they're brought in. I would say my issue is with management or owners.Also, worth noting, these folks do not take Hertz Gold Member points and their rates are considerably higher than even National on most days. Honestly, just don't do Hertz in University Park. It's pretty much the worst of the options for that airport.UPDATE: The website the owner posted below throws a 403 Error if you try to submit anything on it, so that's not worth much and the phone number informed me they were having technical difficulties and could not put me through.....so I guess just no one make the mistake that these folks have become reasonable and helpful suddenly.Second UPDATE: So I finally worked my way through the labyrinthine oxymoron that is Hertz "customer service" to get a hold of the number for the management team for the University Park location, who had left before lunch for the day of course. I spoke with one of the employees, left all of my information and my issues I was trying to have resolved. It has now been 4 business days since and I haven't been called back. I'm going to go ahead and just surrender at this point, but good lord, DON'T RENT FROM THE UNIVERSITY PARK HERTZ!!!! If anything goes wrong or slightly amiss, you will be hosed.

We made a reservation ahead of travel. When we arrived they had no vehicles available because the guy who worked yesterday rented out all the cars. Don t count on a reservation with these guys. The folks at Avis next door were super helpful and got us a car quickly. Suggest you work with them instead.

Absolutely the worst experience! Renter beware. I returned my vehicle only to be called about small dent on the vehicle that I didn't make and can barely be seen. They want to file a claim on the photo below. See the picture below....would you have spotted this during your inspection of the vehicle?! BEWARE.....this is a privately owned Hertz and they do not follow the same policies. I will never rent from here again. Enterprise....I'm coming back to you!

Avoid!One day rental, same pickup and drop off location, $460 credit card hold. I was told that includes $200 + $260 to cover gas to fill up the tank at the exorbitant penalty rate charged by rental car agencies. Alternatively, I could rent with my debit card if I had a utility bill, a credit check, and would a take downgrade from the SUV that I reserved. Still the same hold, just on my debit card now.The staff explained to me that this Hertz location is locally owned (contrary to the attempt to blame corporate below) and this particular location has set its deposit high to protect themselves from unauthorized returns at other locations. I travel all over the world for work and probably rent 30 times per year all throughout the US and Europe and this is the highest hold that I ve ever seen, even higher than notoriously expensive Switzerland.The staff was incredibly nice and even offered to drive me back to my hotel to help save the uber expense. Ultimately it wasn t needed because one of the other rental car companies was able to get me into a car. Whoever set the hold policy is a penny wise and a pound foolish.

I had a booking on the 19th of November 2022. When I went I was told by the dude that they don t have any cars and that they are overbooked.So I made a new booking for the next day, when I went the next day I was told that my reservation doesn t exist.This hertz is not international an should not be labeled as hertz. They should name it John smith renting.

I will never go back here after how I was treated with my rental after my Jeep was totaled! They staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. They were supposed to give me a couple days notice to let me know when I needed to return the car (it was through my insurance). They called at 10 am when I was on my way to work for a twelve and a half hour shift and told me I need to bring it back that day. I told them I wasn t able to with that much notice and told them I would pay for the extra days out of pocket, they had my credit card on file. They argued with me for twenty minutes then finally agreed. A day later I got an email saying they reported the car stolen. I had to call the cops and insurance and them so many times it was ridiculous. Then instead of apologizing they told me they never did that even though the police confirmed it.

BEWARE!!! If you reserve a vehicle through Priceline with Hertz, even though you have confirmation number, etc. Hertz won't have any such vehicle, nor will they be able or willing to assist you. Regardless if you're a Disabled Veteran! I don't want to see anyone else in the same predicament. 58 yrs old and I'm walking home in the dark on a country road! I spent $40 on Uber to get there and and Uber wanted $75 just to return home. BUYER BEWARE
