I've been going to Walter's for my inspections for the last few years and I've always had a good experience. I set my appointment around 3-4 weeks in advance so I've never had an issue with not being able to get in. At my last inspection, my brake pads needed to be replaced but the rotors were still fine (they had been replaced more recently than the brake pads). They easily could have said that both needed to be replaced to charge me more for the inspection but they didn't. They also communicated with me multiple times throughout the day regarding the status of the inspection, the timeline of the needed repairs, and were able to get everything done before 1pm. Even though I've moved further away from Walter's, I will continue to use them for my inspections.

Been going here for years for our 19 Mazda and 99 Honda accord. They have been amazing at helping keep both vehicles running smoothly without problems. They do great work, are quick, and easy to do business with. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great team to take care of any needs for your car

This used to be a great place.For about two years now though it has been getting worse and worse. I've taken all of our cars here for the last six years. I trusted them.Out of desperation I took our car to a new mechanic because this place kept telling me there was nothing wrong with our car.It did not sound right. It did not drive right. I've had it for over 20 years, so I know how it runs and sounds.Our new and highly improved mechanic and told me that it needed $3000 worth of work. It had an oil leak, it was out of oil, the list goes on.I am so upset because I have been taking it to Walter's for so long begging them to find out what was going on. I could have lost our car entirely due to their negligence. I know enough about cars to understand a car cannot be driven with no oil for long before it gets ruined beyond needing a new engine.Walter's has gotten too busy to do good work. Or, they no longer care?I've taken it in 8 times since it started running and sounding bad, and each time they failed to diagnose and fix EVERYTHING-and all the items were quite apparent, not some obscure thing.

My car started making an intense rattling noise whenever I would accelerate. Naturally, I was worried about this, and wanted to have it looked at before doing any more driving.I gave Walter's a call, and Tim got back to me a couple of hours later. He said that he was booked out for quite a while, but the problem sounded like it was probably a loose exhaust shield. If I could come by right at opening tomorrow, he offered to take a look and fix it if that was, indeed, the issue.He was right. One of his employees tested and fixed the issue on the spot. I was in and out within 10 minutes, and Tim didn't charge me for the service since it was such an easy fix. Based on my experience, Walter's Automotive is still a great, reliable mechanic shop that we have here in Pittsburgh, and I will continue using them in the future. Thanks, Tim -- you made my thanksgiving travel plans _a lot_ easier by squeezing me in and doing that spot fix!

Walter's is great. Tim really knows his cars and is a genuinely honest businessman along with an honest team. Inexpensive without cutting corners, and if someone else can do it for less, he will truly send you there. Most amazing experience with a mechanic I've ever had. It may take a little bit to get your car in, but that wait is worth it. Tim at Walter s is friendly, fair, trustworthy, and informative (also very sarcastic, not in a mean way, that s just his personality). They re also upfront with scheduling and will do their best to get you in sooner if your problem is urgent. I couldn t recommend a better mechanic, and I m sad I ll have to find a new one when I move away. All-around excellent staff and service.

Pretty sure it's the #1 place in the city. Tends to be booked out because it's so well-loved. Been going here for years with only positive experiences. They've had good communication and have never tried to upcharge me or push me to buy something I didn't want. I trust them and will continue going to Walter's as long as I live here

Have been taking my cars to Walter's for years. Honest mechanics with great service, and they stand behind their work. Make sure to book an appointment early since they are pretty busy. Also, you need to drop your car off in the morning.

I went to Walter's automotive for inspection. Walter check the car, and said the bake , rotor and lower front control arm, lower control arm fail to pass the inspection, and offered 1500 to change these parts. I am a little bit skeptical, because I change the brake pads last years. So I took car back. I check the car, the rotor and control arm is rusted, I decided to replace them. But the brake pad and the engine mount are still good. As you can see in the picture, the upper part is a new one, the lower part is the old one, and old one still is in very good condition. So I return the new one, put the old one back. Then I go to pepboys for re-inspection, pass. This auto shop cannot be trusted.

Tim Walter and his team of mechanics are honest and knowledgeable. Incredibly kind and funny folks to boot! Remember to bring your registration and insurance if you're getting an inspection. Don't hassle these folks about the wait but do bring your dog in for treats.

I had an issue with the hood latch of my car. The hood latch was faulty and the hood popped up automatically once in a while. When I called and described the issue, they told me to bring the car, although they were fully booked. Tim was very sincere about hearing the issue and he immediately took care of it.I really liked their staffs and service. Very thankful to Tim for the help!

I went to Walter's today during drop in hours for a check engine alert. They were incredibly helpful and transparent in fixing my issue as quickly and easily as possible. Walter is extremely kind and I can't recommend his shop enough!

I have been a client of Walter's Automotive for over a decade. I am a woman who knows about a lot of things, but nothing about cars. At times, I have not had much money. Tim has always taken such good care of my vehicles, while always going out of his way to save me money anyway he can. Tim embodies all of the good qualities that the typical mechanic does not have. He is completely honest and trustworthy. His goal is always to cost you as little money as possible, while keeping your vehicle in good, safe and functional condition. He is very knowledgeable and skilled, but if something falls outside of his expertise, he will connect you to the best person for the job. He is a genuinely good person. Walter's Automotive is an absolute treasure to the people of the Pittsburgh area.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Fantastic experience start to finish-- friendly admin staff, easy scheduling of appointments (just expect a wait because this is a popular place), fast service, and 100% honest. I asked them to check and possibly replace my filter and they said it didn't need it. Also took the time to give me general advice upon pickup for my make and model of vehicle. Can t recommend Walter s enough! As a young female with minimal car knowledge going to any mechanic can be stressful, but Tim has taken the stress away from the experience ever since I started going to Walter s a little over a year ago! The staff are kind, professional, and welcoming. I needed an emergency brake job and, even though they were booked up for a few weeks, they offered to inspect my brakes and tell me what was needed. They were incredibly helpful over the phone and will be going back for any work I need in the future.

Tim s services were great! Even though he was booked he was able to squeeze me in to get my tire looked at because I had run over a screw. He also fit in my inspection since that was due soon. This auto shop is truly a gem. Tim is extremely knowledgeable and honest; he always suggests what is in the car owner's best interest. He has brought my 98 honda accord back from the dead more times than I can count now. I am so thankful to have them in our neighborhood!

Really great place to take your car and they give you a good price. They re also really great people, Tim and Faith are so kind and helpful. A bonus is that they love animals and will always have a treat for your dog

This place was amazing. Took my car in over the summer after my battery died due to a stupid mistake on my part (left the door light on overnight by accident). They didn't charge me anything to recharge the battery and were super accommodating of my schedule. Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! Only car place to support in Pittsburgh from now on.Service: Battery

We take both of our cars to Walter's every year for inspection. He was highly recommended when we moved into the community and always takes great care of us. Other than inspection he has done tires, tuning, brakes and rotors, minor repairs, and warrantee work. He always strives to get our card finished as soon as possible and the entire team is very kind, helpful, and professional. Went here for my yearly PA Inspection + Emissions and was super happy with their service. Dropped my car off 9-10am, and got a call back at 2pm saying it passed and was ready for pick up. They were expeditious and most importantly affordable; I payed $59 and change for Inspection + Emissions. 5/5 stars, will use again!Service: General repairs & maintenanceService: General repairs & maintenance

I can not thank Walter enough for his great service beyond what I can expect. My 20 year's old car has a loud sound in engine (I thought). Walter was willing to give me a check although he was fully booked. The problem is actually caused by the broken exhaust. My car exhaust pipe connects to catalytic converter, both of them need to be replaced if one is broken which costs a lot. He explained this to me but it was not end. He then recommended me to another shop who can cut the pipe and fix this issue much cheaper. He spent the time and did all these for me without any charge. My appreciation could not be expressed in words.Service: General repairs & maintenance

After moving to Pittsburgh, I needed a new mechanic in the area. With an (almost) 5 star rating, and personal recommendations, I chose Walter's and have been taking my car there now for years. The service has been exceptional, and the prices extremely fair. Tim has explained every issue my car has had to me, been patient as I asked even more questions, and worked to find the most reasonable and cost effective repairs. Highly recommend!

Words can't express how much they really care about their customers and as a female, who knows very little about cars I had 100% confidence in there diagnosis. Best mechanic around. Very professional, courteous, and kind. One time during an inspection I had to get my locking lug nuts from the dealership removed. He gave me new ones free of charge. Another inspection, I brought my car in on the wrong day and he was able to squeeze me in anyway, which really saved me a lot of time.
