Had such a lovely experience at this place. I went in because my dealership told me the lights on my dash meant that I needed a really expensive fix. No other mechanic would even look at it after I told them what the dealership said, but these guys said to bring it in. The mechanic at James Dean ran the codes and told me the problem was not related to what the dealership said. He was super honest and showed me everything. He then went on to mess with some of my tire pressures and alignment and got the lights on the dash to turn off. He didn t even charge me anything, just told me to come back if that didn t fix it. The lights have stayed off for a month now. I had been all over trying to get this taken care of and waited 4 hours at the dealership with two kids just to get the light read and then these guys looked at it and fixed it for free in about an hour. I m super grateful and I ll definitely be back.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Would give 10 stars if I could! Got me in quick, fixed my issue quick and was very friendly. His shop "dog" was awesome too! will definitely recommended and return.

Can't express how appreciative I am for James Dean Auto. I had my car out to my dealership 4 times for a problem that I was told was environmental. I finally decided I needed a second opinion and took it here. Alyssa found the problem and also discovered wear and tear of another piece that was going to need replaced in the future. I don't usually write reviews but I was so impressed by her and this shop that I had to make it known.

I live up the road. So far so good. Nothing to complain. Sometimes they are busy, it means they are good at what they do. If they can't get to you, don't call them out on it, just be patient and remind them. They do good honest work. The employees here are very nice. Get past the rough edges and they Hella cool. So give me a chance.

Three years ago they were able to check my AC system the same day after I got off work. Knowledgeable mechanics, quick service!Since then I have been back many timesThe last trip I expected to need at least the rear rotors and pads replaced, since I had taken it to the dealer and they said I needed rear brakes. James Dean Auto's mechanics looked at the car and found that it didn't need any brake work. They could have just as easily replaced them and charged me, and I would not have known I didn't need the work.We need more people in the auto repair business like this!And to some of the negative reviewers... remember - I doubt you are professional auto mechanics, and I know the basics but I am not either. So we often won't know the extent of repairs that are needed & what parts need to be replaced.If you're unhappy with professionals doing necessary repairs on your car, then do them yourself in your own driveway... It seems like some of you think you have the know-how and all the parts that are needed! You can even borrow tools at the local auto parts stores on 65, and I hope you do it right and catch everything that is wrong! (not being sarcastic - just straightforward).

The work and honesty of these people are unmatched! I had a issues with my timing chain no other mechanic would bother with .......these people are fair and upfront no run arounds inspection,oil change,breaks these people do it all!!Service: Auto engine tuningService: Auto engine tuning

I recently took my 30 year old Mazda here for some repairs and my yearly inspection. I knew before going in that there were a few issues that would need to be addressed. one of the repairs being an issue with the accessory/alternator belt being loose and the adjustment bolts for the tensioner being seized. I took my vehicle to a different shop last year after the original belt failed completely and they overcharged me for installing a new belt incorrectly, giving me an excuse that they would have to cut the tensioner out and install a new one, and they were unable to find the part so they just rigged it.James Dean Auto was able to fix it properly for me as well as take care of some other issues that would prevent my vehicle from passing inspection. They were fast with giving me an estimate and completed the work within a timely manner. Everyone I dealt with was polite, professional and happy to help. I will take my vehicle here from now on for any kind of mechanical issues as they did a great job. 10 out of 10!Services: Exhaust, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance

Had my car inspected here and I doubt I will ever be back. Needed tires replaced to pass inspection so got them mounted and balanced there but they can't do alignment since they don't have the machine for it which is fine. My car was dropped off there early on the morning like 8:30-9:00am and I had to leave for work at 1:30 so I thought that was plenty of time for them and they agreed. They didn't finish until around 1:50 with my car and so I was late to work because of them. Then while driving on 28 I got up to 45mph and my back end starts to shudder and bounce a little. I was able to get to and from work thankfully but had to drive slower on 28 than most traffic which was "fun". Went back to them the next day and they assured me they balanced everything and nothing was wrong I may just need the alignment. Called Mr. Tire to get it done and they told me my back tires weren't balanced properly hence why my car was doing that when I got up to speed. So from that incident with them claiming to balance tires and charging me for it while not actually doing it I warn people to be careful with them or avoid going here. It's a shame because I was hoping this was a place I could reliably come back to for any and all issues but I'll have to look elsewhere now.

Took my van for inspection everything was fine they broke my brake hose and brake line and tried to charge me $800 to fix that and a core brace I just had an angle iron welded on it after last inspection. I had to drive home without brakes. When I drove there brakes were fine but when I left I had no brakes.

It took them 3 weeks of me and my girlfriend calling at least 4 times to get a quote from them because they never called me, but to be true I was understanding when they told me that they're worker quit on them and they were short staffed so I decided to not go with them because I found a cheaper quote. And I wasn't even going to leave a review until they left my passenger window down halfway and it thunder stormed that night before I came to pick up my car. So to my surprise my car is now soaked inside. Thanks for wasting my time and soaking my car

Capable & honest shop. I've been going to James for over 3 years now. Best thing I can say is that he won't BS you with anything. He'll tell you what is wrong & won't try to invent anything that isn't ... which is damn near impossible to find in mechanics. Does quality work. He's always been able to squeeze me in when I've been in a jam (including right now ... fixing my power steering). Go to the dealer if you want a free cappuccino & nice leather chairs. Go to James if you want it done right & done fair.

Had the rockets inner and outer done on my 04 explorer,it was almost unsalvageable but less then a week it's back to new! Love the work and would recommend to anyone!

Did what I asked, however did not test drive to verify if the work that was done solved the issue. Come back 2 days later and told me it would be another job to fix the issue. Just go elsewhere. Not to mention, apparently they don't have to make sure the work they do works. Shows character, view reply below.

I googled other prices and to know that Im not getting ripped off is always a plus. A clear answer to the problem and a recommend solution is great when a person lack in auto language. You get that here at James Dean auto.

They did a bait & switch on me . A $ 240 repair turned into a $ 600 repair. Turned them in for state police to investigate. Will NEVER go there again
