Great place. Just had a repair and inspection done. The Big box shop that caused the need for the repair wanted $1000 for the part and labor, they did it plus the inspection for a lot less. Friendly service and quick. Dropped my Mini off at 9am it was done and available for pickup by noon. Definitely the shop I will continue to take it to for inspection and repairs.

Very pleased with my experience. They were very transparent with their pricing and honest with what needed to be fixed and not fixed. My oil pan was cracked. My timing chain cover has a small leak but they advised that can wait. I really appreciate that because I know some places would push for that to be fixed just to make a buck. I also appreciate how they fit me in as soon as they could. Everyone was really nice and explained what was going on. After being ripped off by my movers earlier this week, it was great to work with an honest business. Thanks for making a potentially stressful experience easy and actually pleasant. You don t know how much I appreciate it. I never write reviews but I highly recommend this business.

We've had excellent service and experiences here for years. They'll tell it to you straight, with no pressure, and no upselling, for incredibly reasonable prices. They're in demand, so don't expect same day appointments! If you've got an older German car in the City, this is the place to go. Two words: trustworthy and affordable. Doesn't get better than that.

My vw started misfiring while driving through the strip. Luckily it happened right in front of German auto. These guys checked me in even though they had just closed. Got me all fixed up for a proper price and were very transparent throughout the process. If your German car ever breaks down in the strip you d be straight foolish not to use these guys.

Extremely fair and competent group that always does exceptional work. I've been here twice with my 2015 vw golf, and they've been great every time.First time I had them check out my water pump after VW Cochran dealership told me that it was cracked ($2.5k repair quote) - GMW ran a pressure test and did a visual inspection only to tell me that it was absolutely fine...which it still is 3 years later.Second time was just recently, they did a 60k service with full fluid flush, new brake pads, and a new trunk latch...the works. They did a great job, finishing it very quickly while communicating with me about it when necessary. They're the best!

German Motor Werks is probably the most straightforward and honest garage I have ever been to. Prices are very fair, everything is communicated clearly upfront, and Terry is a pleasure to work with. Excellent service on my Mercedes.

This is an honest, hardworking business and they really know what they re doing. My BMW s OBD system was reading as not ready for testing. Bobby Rahan BMW in South Hills made me wait a week for an appointment and had me sit around all day when I came in. They finally quoted me $4500, without much explanation and with no guarantee there wouldn t be more codes to clear. German Motor Werks diagnosed and fixed the issue the same day I called at a very minimal cost. They had me on my way in 4 hours even though they were extremely busy and short staffed that day.Service: Auto emissions testing

DO NOT GO HEREThey will take your money if your a woman and just run with it. They claim to know how to work on Volkswagens but allowed a 22 yr old female to drive around a car that has low / leaking oil then never proceed to ever change the pcv valve which then ruined the front end of the engine. They also charged $350 for a $30 plastic oil pan. Do not go here. It s not worth your trouble. They should not be qualified to work on vehicles they have no real knowledge on.

Took my 2008 Audi A4 for timing belt, thermostat and clutch replacement, also oil change. They did everything in one and a half days!. I bought the parts myself online so I just paid for labor. Price was very reasonable given I don't drive a Chevy and they aren't Pet Shop Boys. These are knowledgeable mechanics specialized in German engines, so you must pay for that, and again, the price was fair. I am very happy, it's good to know we German cars owners have such a great shop in Pittsburgh, thanks to them I am keeping my Audi for many more years now!.And for those complaining about people at the shop being rude, wtf is wrong with you guys? Do you want your car fixed or you want to open an account at a Swiss Bank?.Yes, they didn't welcome me with coffee or kissed my a* to make business with them, if that's what you guys were expecting. But they were polite, both the lady at the front desk (I forgot her name) and Joe one of the mechanics when I asked him a few questions.I brought my Audi in with the parts, they serviced it in record time, I paid and left with a car running great. That's all I wanted and they delivered as promised. Great shop, great people. Highly recommended. Would give them my car again with no hesitation.

I have a 1998 Mercedes and now that I've been here I wouldn't trust anyone else in the city to work on it. Reasonably priced and they know exactly what they're doing. I've been taking my car here for a few years for anything from inspections to fixing mistakes made by other mechanics. Speedy and they have an adorable dog! 5 stars

great auto body shop for BMW, honest and professional service. terry was very helpful and accommodating when I told her that based on the estimate, the repair would be out of my budget. she was nice enough to even leave the keys in the glove compartment for me to be able to pick up the car over the busy holidays when the shop would be closed. a no frills shop that will give you professional service whether you give them business or not. will definitely go back to them for my future needs. thanks!

Sewickly BMW had my car for 6 days and were unable to find the simple problem with my car. They charged me $614 to replace parts that had already been replaced recently, but they insisted were the problem. I had to spend another $553 on a rental car while they screwed around for 6 days. When I picked up the car, it left me stranded on the way home from the dealership. I managed to get the car to German Motor Werks and they had it fixed in 3 hours. It was leaking coolant due to a $3 broken hose clamp. Repairs were less than $200. Sewickly wanted to charge me $3900 for a bunch of stuff totally unrelated to the actual, very simple, problem. How could they not find a simple coolant leak causing the car to overheat and shut down. Total incompetence! I will only take my BMW to German Motor Werks from now on. Honest and totally competent. Thank you!

The positive reviews for this place must have been for routine oil changes, because my experience has been nothing but abysmal. I took my Volkswagen in because the engine light was on. After a few days of no communication, I checked in on the car. They had decided that an electronic component in the car needed changed, but they "did not know where" that part should be installed. They told us to take it to a dealership and have them figure it out. Their lack of urgency, technical know how, and personal service was so pathetic that you're better off getting taken advantage of by the dealership. On my way to the dealership I noticed that the car's performance had changed for the worse (slowed acceleration, odd gear shifting). Unfortunately, the dealer was unable to run a diagnostic as the lovely German Werks people had reset my engine light in order to pretend as if they were competent. So not only was my problem unfixed, but I paid these goblins to put my car in even worse shape and then shrug carelessly when questioned. Please save yourself the time and money and take your car anywhere else.

Before I came here, I brought the car into a local VW dealer with a bad clutch. To my credit, I'm used to going to the dealer for warranty work but, to my dismay, the clutch doesn't fall under that umbrella (at least not the extended warranty offered on the 'fixed' TDI's). After the crushing anxiety I felt after receiving the dealer quote started to dissipate, I called this place based solely on the premise that I noticed it on my frequent travels through the Strip and the name seemed appropriate. They ended up charging me almost 4 times LESS than the dealership quote and the work was great. I'll definitely be back, assuming the need arises (which it definitely will).

I wish I could be more positive about my experience with this repair shop but unfortunately my car continued doing precisely what it was doing when I took it in for repair; apparently it was all the result of a faulty oil change which this repair shop failed to recognize and ultimately I had to take it to the dealership and paid -less- than what they quoted me here. I know other people have had a great experiences but I felt this was worth sharing as well.

I've had excellent work done there for 5 years on my BMW and Mini. Always timely, reasonably priced, and most importantly: competent work. They have done clutch, exhaust, suspension, engine, and inspection work for me; and never have I had an issue or a return visit.I recommend them to anyone who needs a good BMW mechanic. If you need a loaner car, a car wash, and a shoulder rub.....perhaps you should service your car at the dealer ;)

Garage is horrible with communication. Had a transmission installed. Got car back and was told there was air in the lines. That wasnt the case. They never refilled the powersteering fluid back in it. They claim a clip was missing from my hose that connects to the slave cylinder. If they would have told me I would have called Audi dealer and got 1. (Note.. The Audi dealer is a block away) then at pick up they tell me there were 2 more codes when they scanned my car. Yet again if I would have known I would have paid them to fix it. I guess they didn't want the job. My suggestion would be to go somewhere else. You may get your car back with more problems then when you dropped it off.

Three years having my older BMW serviced here. Always a fair price. Avoided a major repair for me with a much less expensive alternative that worked very well. Contrary to what some others posted, they are polite.

I took my GTI here for the past five years until I sold it, and would be taking my new car here if its maintenance wasn't comp'ed by the dealership for the next few years. They're good to work with, are frank about what needs doing/not/is upcoming, and have always been super speedy on turning things around.Sorry to not see you guys for a few years!

Fast, consistent, competent, and honest service. I went there for a variety of work on my '03 GTI, paused for a few years after buying an '11 CPO GTI, and have since recently started using them again. I wouldnt take my VW anywhere else unless they suggested it.

We use Constantin Garage for routine inspections and repairs because it is so convenient to the universities but when we have more complex problems we take them here. German Motor Werks is the only place I take my Porsche and has done work on our S 320 we couldn't get done elsewhere. This garage is as good with high end German cars as the dealers.

Best car repair shop of any type I've come across for quality service, efficiency and price. Terry always takes the time to explain the problem. Will keep coming back and referring to others with German model vehicles.

Great shop and convenient location since I work downtown. I've brought my cars here for service and inspections over the years. Ranging from my 86 Jetta Diesel, 96 GTI, 99 Cabrio, and 2009 GTI. They do quality work and treat your car as if it were their own.
